Sunday pleasures
1. I went and did my weekly shop at ald1 as I've got a busy day on Monday (usual shopping day). Was surprised how many people were queuing outside the doors at 10am when I pulled into the car park. However by the time I had filled my trolley the checkouts were empty ! Will def do that again (if I can be bothered to get up and ready on a sunday !)
2. managed to get 3 loads of washing on the line - where does it all come from ?
3. went for a walk round the local pond in the sunshine - swans were in full display with their puffed up plumage
4. dyed a pair of black jeans that were a very washed out grey. Very successful - done in washing machine and cost £5 so was cheaper than buying a new pair
5. roast chicken dinner ... with stuffing and Yorkshire puds .... nom nom

5) excitement of the day - we have a new bin timetable starting tomorrow, maroon bin for glass, blue for paper and plastic, brown for compost, grey for non-recyclable and small green for kitchen waste. grey used to be weekly, on a monday, and is now every other tuesday, new kitchen waste weekly on monday. only me and one other neighbour has gone for kitchen wyaste, everyone else has gone grey. you see how exciting my life is ;-)
LOL - last year I bought OH a birthday card with an old couple in bed and she was saying to him "I know you are excited, but the sooner you go to sleep, the sooner it will be bin day" :rotfl: it comes to us all
2) Trip with DH to the seaside and spent a couple of pounds on the 2p machines in the amusement arcade. A guilty pleasure!
:
Another 2p slot machine fan - and poldark
Judi - how old are the kids? I have done loads of canal boat holidays, mostly as a much younger person (though not a child). We took our kids on the Norfolk Broads, which is easier as there are no locks. We have also been on the canal du midi, which was stunning and the locks are operated by lock keepers. The "butter tub" type boats are much easier.
I once went on a canal boat holiday with 10 blokes - leaving my boyfriend at home. My now OH was one of the 10 :rotfl:
Pleasures for the weekend
1 wonderful day in ice cream town. Stunning weather, a trip to the second hand / clearance shop has got us a fully furnished house at a fantastic price. OH and I are most excited about the green leather sofa
2 lunch in Dollys, sat outside in the sun. A walk to the sea (1/3 of a mile - 2p machine arcade was shut though). The most stunning sunset - the hills looked like they were on fire.
3 a takeaway curry when we got home, en famille (as pleasure one probably should have been that DD came home for Easter on Friday)
4 my favourite sort of day yesterday. Decided to use up all the going off / wrinkly / out of date stuff so made, 2 broccoli soup, 4 veg soup, 5 fish pie (and a partridge in a pear tree :rotfl:), a coconut mango and veg curry, bread pudding and chocolate vegan brownies - using sweet potato. Also made a Greek aubergine dip thing for lunch, which was also using up stuff - in addition to going out of date pate, YS bread (9p) and hummus with "traffic light " salad - lettuce radish and carrot (which was all we had). Spent around four hours pottering about the kitchen. Lovely
5 first BBQ of the year, though we ate it inside. Afterwards we had a fire session with the patio heater come bbq.
Groan, back to work and yet another exam board today.
Have a good one allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Vjsmum - your kitchen pottering sounds amazing - I love days like that and well done on the charity shop furnishing of the ice cream house! My kids will be 13 and 11 if we do a canal boat holiday in the summer - my DS has ADHD and some other issues so is challenging at the best of times never mind being confined to a boat! We did a canal boat holiday about 5 years ago but it was with my ex. and loved it but I guess its the being the only adult thing that has me a little anxious - the canal de midi sounds amazing but I am trying to keep costs down so was going to stay in the UK and it has to be a barge according to the kids not a cruiser on the broads which would be easier! Part of me wants to do it to prove that I don't need a man to do what I want - but the other par of me thinks I must be crazy to even think about it!!!!0

Good morning! It's Tuesday alreasy!
Just about tohead out to work.
Monday was a bit of a trial at work.....if it could go wrong it did so I was glad to finish ...as were my poor hands! Dishwasher was one of the casualties...as was the chicken that was delivered....was off ....as was the ham , so my Monday routine and associated tasks were all out of sorts.....
Home via the Salvos ....I've been keeping an eye on a lovely wrap dress but didn't want to pay their full asking price of $14.50... So I've waited weeks and it finally came half price. If it had gone before that it wasn't meant to be but I now have a lovely new dress! Clothes are colour coded as to the week they come in and colours are rotated each week with I think a shelf life of 4 weeks then they are halved in price.
Then had to pick up dd2 at school , which is a pain for me as parking is a nightmare and we actually live near to school but she can't walk that far.....I have to remember its a bigger pain for her! Nice chit chat on way home ..she is loving school.
I love that school! Helped out at PTA , selling raffle tickets ( I sold the most...not that I'm a competitive PTA personality of course!) then we watched the school eisteddfod , which just showcased so much talent and enthusiasm. A good night and met some new friendly people which was nice. DD2 came too and enjoyed it.
Just had long enough to say hello and chat with my husband before it was time for bed!
And now it's time for work, so I'd better go and catch a train !0 -
1. good dinner , meat pie potatoes and beans
2. fire lit and the dog is laid in front enjoying the warmth
3. a few flowers in the garden look nice
4. lovely hot chocolate earlier today
5. DH home from work.0 -
Lovely day off work today...
1. no work on Mondays :j
2. hair done - no longer mistaken for a badger
3. sunny afternoon
4. met a friend for afternoon tea using voucher £9 for two at local garden centre - ham & tomato roll, egg mayo roll, lemon cake & scone with clotted cream & jam - plus big pot of tea
5. had a mooch round the garden centre after (totally stuffed so no need for dinner tonight !!) .... and treated myself to deal of 5 pots of tulips & narcissi for £10. Have potted them up in my garden planters and a lovely splash of spring colour0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

That my father-in-law, a unique and lovely old man is now beyond pain.
That the whole family is curled around Nan like a quilt, sorting food and pills and being with her as we all struggle together to adjust.
That no one has had a single cheep from work or school, just cooperation.
That while the day started with rain, it's ended a bit watery but sunny.
That while we're shattered, & all plans are on hold pending the registrar, we managed a sort of family wake on tea & pizza, and now we're home, one child has gone off to study without prompting.
For a hair raising day, it's ending in love & calm & peace.
Many thanks for your pleasures, which are helping.0 -

DFV - kind thoughts to you and your family. Sounds like your family are pulling together which is wonderful
1. good catch up with fellow student - not sure either of us are any clearer about next steps with the dissertation - but nice to know we are both in the same boat (even though it might be sinking!!)
2. Early dart from work courtesy of DS missing his bus!!! Was nice to be home before 5 though!
3. While dropping DD3 at Scouts noticed some really bright stars - got my sky map app out and the brightest was Venus - was amazing!
4. Nice chat with DD1 - but got a dilemma as we are planning a weekend in London but would really like to just go with DD1 as we never have any time just the 2 of us - but can't really leave DD2 out even though the things we want to do don't interest her (British Library, Camden Market, British Museum) - I might have to do 2 weekends!
5. Managed to skip cadet run - DS now as 2 friends going with him to driving is shared 3 ways - and not my turn tonight!0
