DD if Vjsmum can find 10 eligible bachelors to go on a boat with give me a shout - as long as they don't mind my kids tagging along!!!

LOL - of the 10, two are sadly no longer with us, five are happily married (one to me :p), one is gay, one has not been heard of for some time and the last is eligible but hasn't been in a relationship ever as far as i know. They have 12 children between them (including one of the deceased, who has two - that is OH's brother :(). I wonder how that matches with national statistics for a group of 10 men after 28 years?

Hugs DforV - also forgive my rudeness in not replying to your PM. it is one of those "I will respond later" then never quite doing it. I appreciate the advice and did try with DS but he is having none of it (it is regarding the Prom, for the curious)

Judi - I love lentils! :p Worth it for a canal boat holiday. Ice cream house is a little holiday house / retirement bolt hole for OH, that we have purchased in a little town in Wales famous for it's honey ice cream.

Pleasures for the last day or so

    1. work is ploddy - end of term so not too strenuous. actually having a day off today
    2. Had a conciliatory cup of coffee with Bezzie, who seems to have forgiven me for peeing her off in Madrid - and not accepting it was my fault
    3. More Kondo-ing of the house
    4. Seeing the magnificent moustache on a random stranger i passed in the street the other day - fortunately it was a man :rotfl:
    5. DD had a friend to stay over last night - so nice that she has kept in touch with school friends.
    6. Also Poldark - stunning scenery, sublime music.. Yep, I think that's all
    ;)

    Best get dressed - it's lunchtime :p
I wanna be in the room where it happens

hwb already in place. & not in great nick atm.

    1. Slow-cooker veg. something using peppers, onion, garlic, 3 forms of tomato, sweet tatie, carrot, celery, rtc w8rs aubergine[8p], rtc mushrooms, end of vin rouge, flax oil, NZ olive oil, bay and thyme from garden=luscious scrumptious feel-better food.
    Need it to work.

    2. Oh well, it's meaning npds/nsds:-)

    3. Attempted a near town this arvo, eventually, but didn't really get there. cba. Just turned back, then stopped part-way in a new spot. Loads of partridge about early this year and 4 diff. species deer, 1 handsome king-size silvery pheasant. Was glad to be back and prepare for bed.

    4. Left clean teatowels in Church. Had a quiet time.

    5. Peter May - new author to me, with interesting publishing history. A Scot, with major China and France presence.

Starting on his Lewis trilogy. Strongly written so far. Profound yet uneasy sense of place and claustrophobic community.

Ah, so many of you are commenting on the stunning scenery in Poldark. That's the one. Stunning scenery.... :D

Dreading school tomorrow as I console a couple of the girls in my class over the loss of Zayn from One Direction. :o (they'll be impressed by how "with it" I am...)

My pleasures for yesterday and today:

    1) Went to a clothing and jewellery sale in aid of the local air ambulance last night with a friend. None of the clothes were *my* thing, but there were some lovely scarves so I bought a couple as presents.

    2) A decent amount of cashback payable from TopCashback! :j :j Duly withdrawn and has gone into my "pot" for membership next year.

    3) Went rummaging in the freezer for supper. Thank goodness for the freezer eh?

    4) Don't know whether you're aware, but it's World Osprey Week! The Rutland ospreys are on their way back "home" having wintered in west Africa. http://www.ospreys.org.uk/wow-around-the-world/ My class are participating in a Skype conversation with schools in Spain, Italy, Gambia and America on Friday! As you do... :D

    5) Organising to see friends over the Easter break! It will be so good to catch up with them.

Ampersand - it's no longer starting tomorrow! They have an inset day on Friday so it wasn't worth starting. First day after Easter.

Ampersand - I do hope you are ok - you sound under the weather to say the least!

Good luck Frith on your first day - sound like you have had some challenges with your boys - I can certainly empathise - but I am sure you knowledge , skills and ability to understand kids with challenges will not go unnoticed!

    1. Much nicer weather - felt like spring again although had to de ice the car this morning! (its interesting how the weather has become such a pleasure!!! )
    2. Work was a pleasure - busy - but definitely a pleasure today - just need to make things we talked bout happen! (that may not be such a pleasure - just sheer hard work!) but got huge appreciation from families of patients which makes the work all worthwhile!
    3. DD3's parents evening tonight - absolute pleasure - she works hard, is lovely and is doing well in all areas even though she has some challenges in some areas (coordination disorder and mild dyslexia) - also lovely to see her in constant communication with a couple of good buddies (at one point I was concerned that she was a bit of a loner) - proud mummy moment tonight!
    4. Got £77 back in rail vouchers after train delay last week (was very quick and efficient unlike the train!) London here we come next month! Found a room on Airbnb in Camden for £88 for 2 nights for 2 people which I think is pretty good! Going to wander round Camden market, spend hours in the British library and people watch from interesting vantage points(hopefully with wine in hand) with DD1!
    5. Day off tomorrow (using last of A/L hours) - got to study but nice to be off

Edit - didn't see Friths post above - well good luck for after Easter in case I forget!!!

Wondering where you store so many bins, DD!
I know, it has indeed been commented on. We have a 'small' blue, maroon and brown bin, a green caddy for under the kitchen sink, a green square bucket with lid for contents of caddy, and a big grey bin. Big bin is just too wide for the right hand side of our path, and has a broken lid, so thinking of asking for a new 'small' one. small in inverts cos still huge compared with the one bin my parents had. goodness we've become such a rubbish-generating world!
    1) lunch time seminar had free lunch. seminar rather waffly but lunch very good :P
    2) changed over bins at work (i'm on a mission!) so that the recycle bin is now the big one and the non-recycle is the small one. have also added note that i'll take home non-broken glass to recycle (work doesn't recycle glass)
    3) made big pot of chilli and cooked up rice for tomorrow's lunch and supper
    4) nice evening with dd1 (till i fell asleep on the sofa)
    5) all your posts.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Coat of varnish done over the four coats of chalk paint on the stairs.

    3) Went into town to meet my school friend and her smallest child.

    4) Popped to see my sister and niece (9 weeks old today).

    5) Smaller son did PE for the first time at school for about 4 years. :-) He is taking part in a special PE thing tomorrow so took his new PE kit to school to show his TA and got talked into taking part today. They were doing circuit training and had a competition to see who could lift a bench (?) the most times and he won!

    6) Bigger son made pasta for tea (made the pasta by hand).

Hello from chilly old Melbourne...now I know I moan about the hot, hot days but we do rather seem to have plunged in temperature! The kitchen at work is always boiling ...it was blooming chilly today!

Drove to work. Free all day parking.

I had a fabulous day at work, baked and baked and baked! I'm in my happy space when I'm baking....and sampling in the interests of the customers of course.

Sitting down having a chat with one of my old customers from first job here, who is now a customer at current place. She's Scottish too. Was nice to have a blether .

Quick enough drive home, think I got green lights all the way home. The leaves on the trees are starting to change colour.

Popped into salon to make appointment for haircut next week.....short hair seems to have grown 'long' all of a sudden. Got my eyebrows waxed there and then "ouch!"

Popped into Salvos , which is next door , just for a look.....a nice top, an unworn, still with tag of $140 on, swimming costume....it didn't have a price on it...."er $4.25 ? "suggested the girl, that's fine said me! And a quilted bedspread for DD2's new big bed. Told them to keep the pillow cases as I wouldn't use them. It just fitted in the washing machine and is out on the line having a blow in the very stiff breeze outside.

Booking high tea for Saturday afternoon at one of the City hotels. I may have said already( probably!) this is my first weekend off since August. When I took over as manager, I was supposed to work Monday-Friday and then one Cook had a strop, so I just had to fill in, then another just about killed half the population with his filthy hygiene standards, so had to fill in, then cuckoo cook left me in the lurch. I've had the very odd Sunday off ( like once this year) but not a full weekend. I am really looking forward to it...I know I will probably wake up at early o'clock and that's fine....I just won't have to go anywhere at that time!

I'm going to go and make some soup for tea and possibly a rhubarb crumble as I've loads of rhubarb in the freezer.

Have a thoroughly good Thursday !
It's our bin day tomorrow . We have a small green weekly rubbish bin ( which is usually only half full), a large recycling bin , that's fortnightly and then a silly, small garden bin, that's also fortnightly. Considering most people have sizeable gardens they're ever so small. Our recycling bin is always full in a fortnight.

    1. OH bought me lovely flowers and sourdough bread (at a pittance as an old boy at our pub is a cheesemonger and brings lots of things back from market, often free!)

    2. Four beds now dug out at the allotment. Planted purple sprouting broccoli and some flowers. Seedings doing well. Hoping to get spuds and onions in next.

    3. Frittata and salad for dinner last night. Was very easy and both DD and OH were bizarrely appreciative.

    4. DDs LO birthday cake with tea yesterday, in front of gardening programmes and Back in Time for Dinner.

    5. DD won the "Endeavour Cup" at her school award ceremony. It's sitting proudly on our mantelpiece until the end of summer term :)

Was all ready to post the following, when I scrolled back[and putah obliged: it often doesn't scroll up or down]and find Frith is not hopping to school until Easter bunny has trail-blazed. Oh well, carry this over till then.
    #
'Just a quick check to make sure Frith's looking 1st day good girl ready:-)
    - school shoes polished[have to be Clark's]
    - hair off collar or tied back
    - clean panama
    - blazer edges level
    - house badge/prefect's badge/librarian badge/bell monitor badge exactly centred above school blazer shield.
    - green+white gingham uniform dress at knee length.
    - white ankle socks, one fold over.
    - nails inspection
    #
    Looks pretty good from here.'

You'll have a wonderful 1st day Frith and what a great PE sea change with younger son! Nothing like a triumph of some sort to change the mindset:-)
Elder son making pasta is doing something I have never bothered with. I salute him.

Pouring with rain here, but have done neighbour's and own bins in early darkness and elegant[not] nightwear and coat.
    Back to bed now.
Doing all the right things: porridge, crochet, reading, cricket-listening.
    #
Will have to get up and out at some point, loads of Undones piling up, but cba for an hour or 4 or 5.
