A very pleasant ,sunny Friday afternoon. Finally sitting on my backside for first time today ( give or take the extra 30minutes waiting time to see doctor)....first time I've sat down and relaxed!

Up early, dog still not right but when I see what he drags in from the garden and chews on its no wonder he has a sore belly! Have just extricated a piece of bark teeming with beasties from his clutches!

I drove to work as I had to leave early to pick up DD from school.
Horrible rush hour traffic, I hate it! However , free parking as I arrived early enough to get one of the few all day spaces.

Productive morning at work. We are all liking the new owner and the very positive changes he has made.

Left at 1pm instead of 2.30pm which was nice , dashed home, quick shower, picked up DD2, dashed to appointment to sit and wait an extra half hour over our appointment time. She's to be on crutches for another 6 weeks...which , can you believe takes us to the 1st of May!
$160 to see a consultant for 7 minutes! DD was rather shocked!
He also looked very young.....a sign I'm getting older I think!

Ice cream for being good :)

That's been my day so far, need to go and clean some bathrooms and think about making dinner.

    Have a fabulous Friday :)

Frith that's great news about the job!

Frith - congratulations -its great news about your job.

    1. Managed to finish painting the kitchen walls. It makes it look brighter even though the colour is very similar.

    2. Garden furniture arrived - the delivery driver was helpful, friendly and happy to take it all up steps to the new garden. The driver is directly employed by the company which I think helps. The table and chairs look good and are hopefully easy to maintain.

    3. Neighbour came round to thank me for eggs and gave me a couple of eggboxes. We are slowly building bridges with this neighbour which is good.

    4. DH bought coffee and bread which means I can have breakfast this morning.

Flying visit. Father-in-law in hospital & he's called DNR.

Enjoying Neil Oliver on Celts. Oh, that voice. Bonus croon for "murder" which purrs...

Abjuring youngest to whip the double cream "and be sure it's clockwise!" - for about five seconds, He Believed....

Friend's OH has driving licence back (pulled on health, now sorted) so she can sleep properly again! Owl forced to drive before 7.30 was not happy.

Pulling together plans to see Neil Gaiman - tickets sorted but the rest all a bit "figure nearer the time" & it's tonight [well, it was]! So splendid daft calls messages & emails about food & drink & carparking - even if he has feet & thews of clay (I doubt) the raw Fun of a night out! [Cor. My hero does Not have feet of clay.]

Watching a small boy climb a tree then lay there basking. Great way to wait for a bus!

Boat on the river! More remarkable yet, litter picking from same!

Concrete footsteps tacking from the building site, stomping clear on the pavement. Wonder if they'll still be visible after a weekend?!

"Nice to see someone smiling at their work!" Not quite the greeting I'd expected but I'm very lucky in my work & in the range of people I meet.

"What do you call a baby nailed to a wall?"
    "Art."....
Youngest developing a *black* sense of humour.

"Did Dracula come from Transylvania or Pennsylvania?" - there are times the genuine ignorance of boychicks horrifies me. (I did laugh though.)

"She's nuttier than a bag full of Snickers" - no one *ever* said family was easy.

The raw kindness of receptionists postponing dental appointments for no other reason than father in law is in hospital.

"An extra tin of meaty bits" - gert dog owning pal dropped that line near my imagination & it's still running a full 3 weeks later...

Watching two scaffolders chucking links from the ground up a floor - both wrapped like high-vis ninjas but juggling the lumps of metal...

Eclipse! Seen through veil of cloud like a crescent moon. Windows thronged happily & certain amount of relief the fuzzy spot on my screen rubs clear!

Son cooked chilli - did The Whole Thing (I was present only to satisfy H&S requirements) so very proud of him!

Many many thanks for all your pleasures.
    Back when I can.

Congratulations Frith, so pleased for you :T

Been sitting watching the eclipse for the last hour or so, an amazing event. Puts all the man made problems of the world into the shade. Pun intended ;)

Better go and get dressed or it'll be bed time before I know it! Have a sunny day :)

Just brilliant news Frith, and a whole new identity. I am so, so pleased for you. Thanks for the message on FB letting me know too. :D
I was up very, very late.
Dr C. had gone out to a friend's house, I texted him at midnight 'Have you got your keys?'
No reply, but post 3 am I concluded that he must have his keys or be staying out, I decided to lock up and go to bed. He did indeed stay the night there.

Quiet days, so many of you with extra burdens, warm thoughts.

    1. Rang my pal who had a breast cancer op on Wednesday, she is very bright, has minimal soreness and slept ok.
She had a 4 hour delay in going down to theatre which didn't impress and has radiotherapy to come, but for the moment she is chirpy.

    2. Possibly the last winter veg casserole of this winter (beef in it too) for tea last night. Absolutely gorgeous it was, and 90% of the veg was at the use it or chuck it stage.

    3. Some nice bits and pieces in the post.

    4. Warmer weather bringing improved pain levels, some days I get to the end of the day and realise I haven't bothered with any painkillers. That is a vast improvement.

    5. Your posts.

Some sad news from overseas from very longstanding online friends, since 2000 in fact, helping me to get recent problems into perspective.
A Mum and grandmother whom I often chatted with has passed away from a stroke, aged 44.
Such a vibrant and funny girl whose youngest son is only a few years older than his nephews.
She gave her youngest son her maiden name, Brady, as his first name and chose Ian as his middle name.
Her network of UK and Irish friends did point out that it wasn't a combination of names that held good associations over this side of the pond, but as she had never heard of Ian Brady she went ahead happily.

Her son is a lovely young lad. Heartbreaking.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    1. Beautiful day at the allotment!

    IMG_3971.JPG

    2. Three(!) slices of HM pineapple upside down cake...so greedy :o

    3. A lovely cuppa after a day toiling!

    4. Constructing a (really crude) composter out of old pallets and bits of wood

    5. All my seedlings are doing really well

    Brilliant news Firth:beer::j:beer:

    1. After the eclipse the cloud turned into a beautiful day, used it to line dry all of the caravan washing.:)
    2. We ran some errands, took 2 bin bags of clothes to the heart foundation bin, picked up a prescription, popped to lidl for a lot for a little, over to Homebase to pick up wood for shelving while there one of the people marked down 2 hose lock drip complete sets from 80 right down to 8 she said because they are last year’s stock, we tried not to look too happy, so we acquired them both as the garden suffered last year. :o:T
    3. Used the fresh loaf for chunky sandwiches when we got in they were really lovely.:p
    4. DH cutting and fixing shelving in the bedroom, while I planted things out and weeded both of us having animal “assistance”. A robin got up close and personal taking things I no longer needed I am guessing to nest, he/she came down just inches from me and sang/warned me before heading off with a beak full and kept coming back.:rotfl:
    5. I’ve had a curry request for later so that’s for tea, he never asks for anything specific so it must be a craving, and I reckon there are some frozen peshwari leftovers I can dig out as well.
    6. DH hand making convalesance soup for the animals, it takes hours to make in the pressure cooker but they love it.:)
