1. We've been offered a South sloping full allotment plot for £20 a year :j
We're so excited! Waiting for the Allotment Agreement to come in the post.
2. Curried egg mayo salad sandwiches for lunch: made with eggs from our own chooks, homemade mayo and homemade oat and walnut bread. Was really quite wonderful. Actually couldn't finish the sandwich so had the other half for dinner!
3. Sweetcorn seeds have all germinated! Every single one! We've planted 20 more! Spent an hour in the garden pottering. Planted courgettes too...everything is doing really well!
4. Lovely smoothie for breakfast. Finally making a dent in our frozen fruit!
5. My cat's feeling much better after his leg infection. The abscess burst last night and looks like he's on the mend (really scraping the barrel now...)

Happy birthday Vicky hope the rest of your day is good.
Well, I've been up since very early o'clock with a poorly pup who's obviously eaten something he shouldn't. He's feeling very sorry for himself and looks sad
DD2 has medical appointment at 8.30am and its on same campus as DD1's uni so dropping her off on the way.
DD2 was throughly miserable last night as she is extremely sore and very tired. She was at play rehearsals until 10pm, having been dropped off at school since 7.50am . Tonight's the performance of Midsummer Nights Dream which will be held in the chapel courtyard and its to be a warm evening but I shall cover up as the mozzies will be out! Should be good but she will be incredibly grumpy, over tired and probably sore. Wish me luck!!!
Hoping the rest of my day off is pleasant!
Be back tonight0 -
Happy Birthday VickyA
, sending virtual cake and a magic wand to make all the books mark themselves for at least a week!
Feeling grotty with a lingering cold, so no list of pleasures - apart from the joy of leaving school earlyish so I could pick DD up from her homework club. Hoorah! I think I've picked her up more from this school already than I ever did the last one0 -
happy birthday vickya it's my sister's too
well done on the allotment m&m
not in the office today, and haven't looked at emails so will wait to see how boss's resignation was received tomorrow
1) xoh gave me a lift to the station. train very full but got a seat trolley man wasn't sure if there was enough water for my cuppa. there was. just :T
2) nice taxi driver from fulham. i lerv scotland but a london voice does make me have a warm fuzzy feeling
3) good day's conference with good lunch, good discussion and good presentations. and they gave us a goodie bag with sweeties, a toy, a pen and a notepad
4) Lots of people ordered taxis at the desk. I instead asked crowd if anyone had room in a taxi to haymarket and i'd share the cost. 2 more joined us and they offered to pay the lot cos they'd get it on expenses. no train soon at haymarket so caught train to waverley (very close and waverley is the starting point for a lot of trains). glad i did cos train wasn't normal train, shorter and again very crowded. got a seat, might not have been so lucky at haymarket
5) home to walk the dogs - lovely run in the park - chilli for supper then long soak and a read in the bath. dd2 now home and has ordered me a dress online - evening dress in Quiz sale £25. now cinders just has to find a ball to go to...MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Lovely allotment m&m - and Happy Birthday Vicky
Been to London today - left at 6.30 home at 7.30 long day but enjoyed the meeting and quite productive
1. Kids and Reverend Mother survived the long day - kids spoiled by having takeaway from a chicken place paid for by the Rev - she is naughty - there was plenty in to make them for tea!
2. Train was delayed on the way so my plan of having and nice coffee and half an hour of London people watching didn't happen - pleasure is that the 1 hour and 6 min delay results in the train company refunding (in travel vouchers) for the whole leg of the journey (£77)
3. Managed to nip into the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson gallery on the way back to the train (My course is named after her) she was a brave, determined and strong woman - very inspiring!
4. Nice chat with American friend on the phone when I got home - I miss her so much!
5. Chat with DD1 (I miss her too!) and now planning a meet up in London sometime soon (me using my travel vouchers) looking at hostels to keep the cost down - has anyone done this? What was it like? - I guess a bed is a bed!
6. managed to finish a book that has been half read on my kindle app for months (I prefer real books but didn't have room in my bag!) Book was good - 'Looking for Alaska' - now have no half read books and no unread books I want to read desperately - I need to focus on studies for a bit as next assignment due soon!
And talking about beds - mine is calling!0 -
Happy birthday, VickyA!
Nice allotment, m&m (I have one too)
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Met my school friend in town for a cup of tea.
3) Other school friend (twin of the one in town!) - her daughter has been discharged and meningitis is gone! There was a tiny anomaly on her eeg but they are not too worried. Checks and hearing tests for the next year to make sure.
4) Managed to find some more of the chalk paint I've been using to do the stairs. Very obscure brand with only 3 stockists in the county but one is a charity shop in town!
5) We have worked out what has been wrong with smaller son. The swelling across his face and watering nose and eyes are nothing to do with his antibiotics. It seems he might have a latex allergy. And what has been on his face on and off since Friday to make it react like that - his collection of Comic Relief red noses!
6) Bigger son helped me a bit with the stairs DIY which is never ending.
7) Tasty tea then bigger son made some pancakes.
8) Have done little this evening except watch Return of the Jedi in front of the fire.0 -
Lovely allotment m&m, you'll be able to swap growing stories with Frith and the other keen gardeners here
Sorry to hear about the pup mhags, hope he's feeling better now
Happy Birthday Vicky _party_
1. Emergency call from DD early morning, one of her Spitz was losing blood so I threw some food in bowls for my two, threw on some clothes, picked her up and went to the vet. Immediate op which showed what the problem was, hopefully it has cured it. Told DD if there's much more of this I'm going to start charging her private ambulance fees
2. Back to DD's house, after leaving the muttley, for my first cup of tea of the day. It was nectar, and the second was just as good!
3. Home to start my morning regime, only two hours late, which threw me out of sync for the rest of the day but had no other plans so soon caught up. Managed to unblock the shredder - memo to me, don't put sticky labels in the shredder - and clear out one of the vac cleaner heads. Cat toys are fun for the mog but seem to stop any dirt going up the spout!
4 Went to the local grocers to post some letters, they were selling 4 bunches of daffy's for £2 so I bought them and now the sitting room looks bright and Spring-like
5. Out this evening with friends to celebrate one's birthday, super hotel in the back of beyond but very popular. Just about ready to collapse into bed now
Sweet dreams0 -
Our ship has sailed into calm waters, I keep thinking it's too good to be true, but Dr C. now back at work full time, getting up, getting his lift in, pleasant and civil.
A buddy had a big C. operation today, kicked straight out to home this evening, I believe. She didn't want anyone staying with her tonight, she was adamant, but I haven't had news on how it has gone.
I hope I can do the errands thing for her tomorrow. Thank God for my trike, that helps me be less useless.
1. Normality, after I'd forgotten what it was like.
2. Conversation with a new student this morning who apologised for his (very good and almost perfect ) English. English is his fifth language, he has moved here from another EU country and is working for the company featured on BBC 1 at 9 pm Wed evening, having had a very good job in industry in the EU country.
What a guy.
3. Tailbone less sore after I went down 7 stairs in the house in 0.5 seconds the other week. Wish I knew what I looked like doing that.
Fastest I've moved in many, many years.
4. The live music club.
I now own a comedy Irish hat thanks to yesterday being St Patrick's, and the live music club premises serving a certain brand of stout. I was given it as someone remembered how much I loved Ireland. Well, yes, but not the comedy version of 'Oireland' that the hat represents. However, it served to carry home the four cans of Yorkshire beer that I won in the raffle. Oldest established platonic male friend who lives locally is from Yorkshire and likes that beer, when his tummy lets him drink.
I have been to Ireland many, many times, but arthritis banjaxed my last planned visit. I would love to go to Silent Valley in the Mournes once more. Perhaps one day.
5. Your pleasures, not read them all yet.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Frith just in case you see this re why choose SEN: "My depth of personal experience in handling the challenges and gifts presented by my own children has inspired me to choose this career pathway."
Ain't that the truth?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
