busy day at work. last teaching session with this year's masters students. was fab and has assured me i'm making the right choice. re. my career. more details will be divulged shortly
    1) cake and coffee for colleague's 40th birthday - we invited the students as well
    2) gbf brought pea and asparagus soup and nice brown rolls for lunch
    3) dd2 kindly picked me up from work. it was cold and wet so very kind of her (and saved the bus fare)
    4) remember to post my sister's birthday card. it was home-made :D
    5) lovely lentil ragu on pasta for supper. a very mse recipe - 200 g green lentils, onion, 3 carrots diced, brocolli stalk diced, 2 garlic cloves, 1 tin toms, 2 tsp dried herbs and 2 tbsps tomato puree. we've had 5 helpings from it so far, and still enough for tomorrow's lunch.

    1. Walked to post office to return a parcel for DH. It was a lovely walk and I stayed dry. Met and had a chat with a couple of people who I hadn't seen for a while.

    2. Cleaned the hall and sorted out the cupboard.cleaned the front door and sorted out all the shoes. Took a while but looks much better.

    3. Had gammon and salad for tea - yummy but simple to do.

    4. Read more of my book.

Dundeedoll...tantalising us .....hopefully all shall be revealed soon ;)

Well, a pleasant enough day off work.

Woke up early but stayed in bed for another hour...decadent treat!

Dropped DD2 off at school with her massive school bag!

Pottered about tidying, hoovering, watched Poldark.

Went to scone cafe with DD1.... She is such a faff getting ready. Takes ages. I want to get up and go and she takes ages. Anyway, I had a Harry ( beetroot relish and cheese) She had a Betty ( Apple and cinnamon )

Popped into a nearby op shop. Bought a pretty gravy jug and a lovely crocheted blanket, navy, red and white.

Snoozette and then discovered WPC 56 on BBCiplayer so watched that.

Picked up DD2 from school. Then OH came home early and was starving so we went and grabbed some food. He had been at hospital for check up.Got some photos developed of my great niece that my niece had sent me. Then home.
Made salmon and veggies for DD and DS for tea. Trying to make sure that DD2 is eating well for healing purposes.

It's been a weird day weather wise, a bit of rain at times, warm but very windy and overcast. We have lifted up the shutters that are down over the windows for summer to keep inside in shade. Nice to have light coming in.

    Have a good day :)

Crazy busy weekend - Spent Saturday cleaning house, shopping, baking and doing afternoon tea for the Reverend mother - which went down well! Finished making the cake for church and it looked lovely (not sure how to get a pic on here!) Then DD1 andDD2 came home from the baby shower and I had a lovely evening with all my babies in 1 room! Sunday - I was spoiled rotten with breakfast, cards and presents then Church and cake went down well. Came home - made a batch of cupcakes and iced using leftovers from the big cake and took them to work for all the mummy nurses working on Mothers day!

Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching rubbish films. Dinner was a Mexican feast prepared by the older 2 followed by and almighty fight over nothing in particular and normal chaos resumed - DD1 left to back to Hull and I was so sad to see her go - I am hugely proud of the young woman she has become and how she is making her way in the world but I miss her so much!!!

    Anyway onto my pleasures!

    1. My 4 babies (even if they fight like cat and dog!) all together for a day and made me happy and proud - mostly anyway!
    2. Learned how to make scones (no idea why I haven't done this sooner they are so easy!)
3, loved watch the canal program on Sunday - brought back great memories of canal holiday a few years ago with my ex - kids want to go again and I must be mad thinking about going again on my own with them!
    4. Had a good chat with university tutor yesterday- think I might be getting clearer about dissertation question
    5. Met some great people in work yesterday - listening to other peoples stories is very humbling and reminds me why I do the job that I do
    6. DS and DD3 both got lifts to clubs last night which meant I got to stay home all evening
    7. NSD yesterday (trying to make up for spendy weekend! - and it might take more than a day!!!)

    1. Fresh cafetiere coffee in bed at 7am. Followed by...

    2. A bike ride with OH. I really enjoyed staring at his lycra clad bum for an hour.

    3. Chat with the local greengrocer. She's lovely and I need to remember to use her shop more instead of the (inferior) supermarkets!

    4. A smoothie made from bananas, mangoes, strawberries and flaxseeds. Someone gave me the mangoes and strawbs last week and I needed to use them up. It was delicious!!!

    5. All my seedlings are doing really well on the windowsill. Current count:

5 pea plants (must plant more)
    20 sweetcorn plants
    5 crookneck squash plants
10 cucumber plants (must give some away!)
    About 40 tomato plants
    Various herbs
Also, the borage which I planted into the ground is doing really well.

    6. When I went outside to feed the chickens this morning, it smelled of spring.

    7. OH got back from three days in Manchester last night (he visited a friend and they saw Dylan Moran - jealous!) and I met him at the pub behind the station for a pint of ale. Not very MSE but it's a lovely old pub full of lovely people and we had a chat and played cards, which was nice.

I can't think of any more, but I'm in good spirits. Going to hang up some washing then knuckle down in the office. Have a lovely day all x

Welcome back Skint, sounds like we both had a rocky start to the holidays but all's well that ends well. Hope you get over your sickness asap :)
Caterina I think Reverbe has cancelled her account or could be posting under another name now. You're absolutely right, sayings do stick, finding pennies will always be a reverbe to me :)
She hasn't been able to get on the MSE forum for yrs..:(

It’s a little quiet on here recently.
I had an interview booked in, however then they changed where I would be based turning it into a 2 hour commute each way so I said no and then they had a strop ah well onwards and upwards, better to find out now saves me the cost of the journey to find out on a positive.:o
DH is very poorly. But nature brings pleasures
    1. Eating healthily and food planning, today was tuna jacket with no butter or mayo, tea will be hm shepherds pie packed with veggies onions and garlic for DH.;)
    2. Picked up a 30 bulb pack from Lidl last week, planted them out today what a great way of doing it, they fill up two big pots and should look great.
    3. Third NSD/NPD in a row.:)
    4. I’ve managed weights 5 days out of 7 makes me feel far more confident and listened to my body when I tried to lift them and my arms where too fatigued, not that I have any strength to start with.
    5. The animals as always giving me a lot of smiles:)
