5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Thanks, all. Still seems a bit like a dream!
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Drove bigger son to school so he didn't have to get the bus at 8am.
3) Went to watch the eclipse with brother. He had rigged up a pinhole camera plus binoculars so we could watch the sun reflected onto the kitchen cupboards!
Something was organised at smaller son's school, including watching it on TV in the hall. The headmistress at bigger son's school had said nothing was being done at all and there was a mutiny! Bigger son said he (and over 100 others) just remained on the playground and watched the eclipse then went into their lessons at 9.30. The head was away and none of the teachers said anything.
I used to work in the same town and years ago remember looking out of the window and nearly the whole school marched past (quite a long walk!) to protest against the war starting in Iraq. I think 400 pupils were given a one day exclusion - it was in the paper.
4) Remembered to top the car up with oil and antifreeze.
5) Had a good go at the garden - weeding, sweeping and tidying up. Looks a lot better now.
6) Left over pizza for my lunch.
7) Swapped my magazines at the free box in the library. Bought a new fish slice after bigger son melted my 20 year old one (from Woolworths) whilst making pancakes.
8) Had a chat with the single parent advisor at the job centre about how much worse off I'm going to be financially with a job (let's not dwell on that!)
9) Did a bit of painting (bits I had missed) and tidying up.
10) Bigger son had forgotten his cooking so we drove to school to fetch it. I phoned the secretary to ask if we'd be able to get in to the cookery room and she explained that I could drive across the playground and right up the block to save time. Felt very odd, driving along basically through the middle of the school, skirting the fish pond!
11) Bigger son's chilli for tea with wraps and salad.
12) Bigger son went to role playing night with brother and brother in law.
13) Smaller son wanted to do some cleaning (?) so we did the bathroom.
14) Enjoyed watching Gogglebox.
Looking forward to tomorrow. I think we are going to the National Trust at Croome.0 -

DigForVictory - sorry to hear about your FIL being in hospital.
1. Text conversations with both sons during the eclipse. I and DS1 and DH had a great view of cloud! It did get darker though but DS2 had a really good view.
2. Went to bottle bank - great stress relief smashing the bottles as I throw them in. Then onto w8rose as very little needed and spent £14 which included daffodils and my free coffee.
3. Spent time in the garden and put up a fruit cage aswell as planting some raspberry canes.
4. Tidied up all the leaves under the trees.
5. Easy tea of mashed potato and sausages with baked beans - all I could manage to cook but tasted good. I had thought about a takeaway so pleased I resisted.0 -

We didn't see anything here either! My mums boyfriend is a TV astronomer so he kept popping up on my newsfeed randomly, explaining the eclipse using fruit, which was amusing.
Today:
1. DDs birthday today. She was so grateful for her sewing bits, new, nightie, bedsheets and books. Really really thrilled. It was quite touching.
2. We stayed in all day, ate pizza, watched movies, played board games, did crafts together. When I asked her what she wanted to do today she said "just hang out". She tasted her first can of fizzy drink and had her first takeaway pizza as a big treat  She thought the fizzy drink was amazing (uh oh) but says my pizza is much better
I don't like rubbishy food, but she's a lovely little girl (IMO) and we wanted to let her dictate the day - we even ate our food on our laps on the sofa.
3. Making allotment plans with OH. He's got really excited about it. We've decided to take photos every day we go to see progress. It might sound like sentimental nonsense but I have a feeling that working on it together will be something quite special, and I'll want to treasure the memories.
4. Fresh eggs on HM bread for breakfast, with a lovely cup of tea.
5. Cuddles with DD in the morning. She was excited for her birthday and crawled into bed at 5.30am.
Skint yet again I have so much to mend but I'm inexperienced and keep putting it off. Really need to take a leaf out of your book and just get it done.
villagelife did you make the fruit cages yourself? If so, a gratuitous piccie wouldn't go amiss...0 -
MandM what a lovely idea to have a photo record of your allotment, you'll be proud to look back on it it time to come. Sounds like your DD had a super day, what a lovely girl she must be to be excited about getting essentials like a nightie and some bedding, and what a compliment to your cooking
Skint how yum to have proper chippie chips, the thought has me drooling
villagelife I agree about the sound of breaking glass, very rewarding. Where do all the leaves come from, they really should have finished falling by now!
1. Another who didn't see the eclipse due to low cloud cover, but had a running commentary via skype from friends in Cornwall where it was clear, while I also watched it on television.
2. I also enjoyed Gogglebox Frith, it has me in fits of laughter
3. Gave a talk this morning to a rehab group. a good reception and sensible questions asked afterward, followed by an invitation to go back at a later date.
4. Swimming this afternoon, very crowded but managed a couple of lengths and some shorter swims.
5. Saving the best til last, DGD1 had her post-op test results yesterday and all the pre-cancerous cells have been removed. She has to go back in a few months but just for a check-up :T
Have a good rest of the evening (even if we can't see Casualty tonight)0 -

A very pleasant Sunday evening, nice warm sun and birds are singing.
Here are some of my weekend pleasures :
I went to work , which was fine but I won't be working next weekend! ( that will be such a pleasure ) the difference in atmosphere is like night and day. No one ( especially me) is stressed out anymore, no one feels they are being watched like a hawk and criticised, hard work still going on just with a lighter mood
Food!
Went for late lunch with OH and DD2 on Saturday ( was given the last muffin to take away : gave it to DD1)
Went to beach with OH and ended up sharing a pizza.
Went for late lunch / early tea this afternoon with OH.
Because I'm cooking all day. I don't get much of a break...I usually just sit down and someone comes in to eat, so I'm usually starving when I finish
Took pup a walk around the cricket oval....he's bright enough and eating and drinking but Oooft to his backside! !
OH and I decided to go and see the sun set at the beach. We went to Williamstown , which is just along from the city. 'Twas a tad breezy...we both remarked it was probably warmer at beach at home! Ended up sitting at a beachside restaurant , sharing a pizza as the sun went down. We were blooming freezing!
I went to the loo and dropped my new to me phone down the loo....by accident of course...it's been in a bag of rice all day and is now currently attempting to recharge.
Got my cash for doing this week's teatowels. So I shall squirrel it away and save up,for something.
Have a lovely Sunday0
