Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went into town for a cup of tea with my friend.
3) Bought bigger son a first piano course as he wants to learn now.
4) Used final money on M and S voucher I had for Christmas.
5) Had lunch out.
6) Started stairs redecorating. Took bigger son and I an hour to get 5 of the anti slip strips off! Many more to do...
7) Texts from sister and brother in law and we're invited there for tea and games night tomorrow.
8) Texts from smaller son's specialist teacher, after I told her that son and his classmates had had a "who can sandpaper their arm for longest" competition in Tech!
9) Bigger son had made curry at school so we had that for tea.
10) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
Some worrying news. The friend I go out for tea with has an identical twin (also friends with me) and her youngest child is now in the children's hospital with meningitis. :-( She was in hospital last week on antibiotics but got poorly again. This child is 5 days younger than my niece so must be about 6 weeks old now.0 -
Breathe and comes up for air!
Rite I knows, not bin inn for a day and look what 'appens. PM2KK Stop, think BoP mode. Aye, and the last great act of defiance!
Maid it home!
5 Monday was bed chopping day and runs to the dump. On doing so we found some BoPsie Frillies ...
It may be some time till BoP is out of position to post a grin!0 -
1. furniture polished
2, horses out in the field enjoying the mild weather
3. going for a coffee with a friend in about an hour :-)
4. finally dumped a toxic "friend" who was wearing me down emotionally
5, I dont feel guilty about number 40 -
judi I second DD's comments re the OS weight loss thread, I've been a member for some years (bit erratic with my food and exercise due copd) and can only praise the support and encouragement we get there. What a lovely idea to have a lunch with the children, a shame it won't come round again but at least you've enjoyed the experience together
PK so sorry to hear about your boy, but he's left some happy memories for you to look back on. Good luck with the job hunting
1. for Tuesday, went swimming with the seals in the morning, then again with neighbour in the evening. One more swim (today) then I get a free one thanks to the loyalty card.
2. it was such a beautiful morning I managed an hour pottering in the garden before friends and I...
3. ...went to a gallery in Cambridge where a friend is exhibiting, or is hung  as I believe they call it, she had sold 4 of 6 in the first day. As she said, she can eat next week
4. a bag of jars and bottles to the bottle bank, a sack of clothing and bric a brac to the cs.
5. spent last night and early this morning pacifying a friend who was in a hotel at Gatwick where her bf was being infantile. All is well now and they're cheerfully on their way to their holiday. Meanwhile I'm emotionally and physically exhausted, hope I don't fall asleep in the pool!
Have a sunny day0 -

The sun is starting to emerge from behind the clouds, figuratively.
Dr C. is on a phased return at his workplace. I am feeling thankful, but watchful.
Anyway.
Pleasures:
1. Repairs to plumbing came in £10 less than the quote. That never happens, but it did. I gave lovely Jason the plumber an iPhone cable for his daughter (manufacturer freebies) as three had arrived for me to review.
2. I now have a working bathroom basin again. Hooray.
3. Years ago I was told that my house was called 'the daffodil house' by a little girl living locally, who loved to see them out in my front flowerbed each spring. (It's an edge of countryside townhouse with a flowerbed under the window, then a cobbled frontage.) The daffodils at 'the daffodil house' are out big style. Dr C. disturbed and split a lot of them last year when weeding and they seem to have liked the treatment.
4. Being able to help out a friend with things she needs at the moment.
5. Cheltenham, and I know a lot of people have opinions on horse racing that wouldn't be mine. Some wonderful moments. Our Fatty is currently being broken in ready to go training, watch this space.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Judi, Sorry about DS, the good thing with this place it takes the bad with the good.
McC: Fingers crossed for Dr C
Struggling for pleasures I went to sleep feeling ok, and woke up feeling like someone had squashed my head in a vice, not liking these headaches, my mum was prone to them but they had passed by me.
1. A sneaky one for last night, Mr T shop gave us 2.5kg of spuds for 18p, a bag of salad and parsnips at 20p each, bread was 14p, and bad bits buns and a Rolo cookie pack 50p each, had to buy some full price bits which took the weekly shop to £21, not bad but I am going to need to sort myself out and get batch cooking as I have got lazy so I need to get creative with what we have and get planning.:o
2. Made a big prawn salad for lunch.
3. Managed to get the wardrobe wood at the best price we could as we couldn’t find any effectively snaffled:eek:
4. Beautiful weather and I couldn’t help but check on all the seedlings:cool:
5. Venison stew for dinner:D it’s been slow cooking for a few hours, I decided to experiment based on recipes, when will I learn - my cooking experiments to date never turn out well:eek: so err we will see should be tastey it’s just weather its good taste or bad, I would err on bad.:rotfl:0 -
1. Bit of a potter around the garden after school/work. Potted strawbs and a new raspberry plant (from the pound shop...worth a try) and saw to my baby seedlings.
2. OH made veggie bolognese for dinner. He has never really cooked before - this was the third meal he's ever made me - but he's trying to learn.
3. OH hung a hanging basket for me.
4. Eggy bread for breakfast (should really cut back on the food a little. Waistlines a little tight!)
5. Currently having a cold beer and watching Jumanji (not v. OS...)0 -
Frith - fingers crossed for your friend's child. x
mhagster - Hoping the visit to the sports specialist offers concrete answers for your DD.
Pleasures:
1) Been checking out Dermot O'Leary's day of dance *live* http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/watchlive/radio2
2) Small bets (25p each way!!) placed on the Cheltenham Festival mean that I can reinvest for tomorrow.Mainly because there's not enough money in my account to be allowed to withdraw it.
Let's just say I won't be giving up the day job any time soon.
3) Upping my water intake, rather than having it in the form of coffee...
4) Reading my book. Simple things etc?
5) A clean house! Brilliant!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Definitely going to try the weight loss thread Sparrer - struggling to get my head in the right space to tackle the weight - but really need to - not getting any younger!!! and thanks PK - its good to be able to post on here and it does help regain some positivity when things are tough!
today -
1. boss not in work and diary virtually empty - so managed to get quite a lot done - a pleasure as it made me feel more positive
2. DS very humble and sheepish and even vacuumed without being asked - hasn't even asked when he can have is x-box back (never at the moment!!!) so positive thing is he has realised that his behaviour was not ok (this in its self is a minor miracle!)
3. Cake baking friend gave me another free lesson and is challenging my creative ability with our design for the mothers day cake!
4. First tree with blossom on spotted today
5. Its nearly Friday!!!0
