It’s lovely reading everybody’s pleasures.
We lost our little boy ferret, he passed peacefully in his sleep:(, we have laid him to rest in the garden near his friends and will get some crocus’s for him. It was old age, and he had a great life with us, it’s made me realise I would do it again even though this is the painful part.
1.I was up early today partly because I knew in my heart I was getting up to the above, I have re jigged my CV, re issued it around and looked for/applied for alternative job titles which are essentially the same, I’ve had a few calls of which one sounds good, one role looks literally written for me.
2.Wrote off to our Welsh friends with some prospective caravan dates and we are all booked in, it’s so secluded I’m looking forward to it.:D
3. We are desperately in need of doing a shop, but it can wait to tomorrow, made an omelette out of anything we had mainly eggs obviously:)
4. Researching for DH’s milestone birthday a few ideas it’s hard to beat being on honeymoon in Canada and walking with wolves thou lol….:rotfl:
5. Noticing how much spring is breaking through now.0 -
So, day off number 1 started well.
Managed a bit of a lie in until 7.30am. I think we confused the dog as it's always me that sees him first thing, takes him out and feeds him but OH did that this morning.
Good blether on the phone with friend from home.
Tidy, tidied and tidied some more.listened to some Uk radio whilst I tidied. Enjoyed the company of the dog....who followed me everywhere...even when I went to the loo...it was like having a toddler again!
Watched a trashy film and did stuff during the ad breaks. Had a fried egg on toast for my lunch.
Had a wee snooze ( so did the dog) and then we were wakened by the phone ringing. DD2 has injured herself at sports at school. Competitive sport is compulsory and she is in the softball team. So had to go and pick her up from sick bay and luckily we managed to be seen by her physiotherapist without too much of a wait. Sent for X-rays and again nit too much of a wait. She's home with crutches and will see what tomorrow brings. Has been waited on hand and foot since she got in! Her team won the game
Chilli for dinner with rice and nachos.
Happy Wednesday0 -
Morning all - and what a lovely morning it is.
Today is my day off - though i have a little work to do. Having hair done later, shopping for DS birthday in a short while. He is having a ticket to the rugby world cup as his "main" present, but i like to get him a few bits to open. Trouble is, it's quite tough finding a few bits for a 16 year old.
Mhags - hope DD is ok
PK - sorry for your loss
Ampersand - take care
Judi - well done on assignment. Our students only get a bare pass if they submit any minutes late!
Pleasures for the last little while
DS and i had a fab time at Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Had the family over for the weekend and it went well. Friday was MiL birthday so on Saturday the whole lot of OH's family (except DD, 1 niece and 1 nephew) came to stay. Luckily it is a small familyThe real pleasure is that they'd gone by lunchtime on Sunday :T:D
Finally, finally finished Hong Kong Marking. Though some Singapore marking has unexpectedly arrived today.
Spring is springing
Bought some new cutlery - and shopping for bathroom bits shortly. Some of our old stuff has gone to its retirement home in ice cream town.
Had to wing it in two lectures yesterday - went quite well considering
Looking forward to cake making and soup making and veg curry making later. But first shopping.
Have a great day.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
McHags: A lovely post, I hope DD2 is ok today.
Vjsmumm: Ohhh cakes and cooking sounds lovely, I’ve lost my cooking mojo at the moment.
1. I was up very early and the animals joined me which was lovely but I did ponder back to bed until 8.:o
2. I was offered an opportunity, but it would mean staying away from home 4 days a week:(, we discussed it and decided against it, nice to be able to discuss it, glad DH gives me strength to wait for the right position.:o as I am feeling a bit nervy.
3. The walls are finally complete the final paint coat is on as of today, now we have to buy some wood to make the sides of the wardrobe and DH gets building, I am looking forward to the new carpet remnant but I know it’s got to be the very last thing.:T
4. 3 lots of washing line dried thanks to the wonderful weather.:D
5. It feels like I’ve achieved today nice to have done bits and pieces:cool:
6. The fridge is ridiculously empty and I can’t “create” much more so it’s off to Mr T, I am trying to be good though and cooking something before we go, working on the buying less when we aren’t hungry.:rotfl:0 -
Purple kitten - sorry to hear about your ferret -its always sad to lose a loved pet.
Mchagster - hope DD2 is recovering and not in too much pain.
1. Another lovely sunrise this morning.
2. Had a reasonable day at work. I'm keeping my head down still.
3. Planted some flower seeds this evening while watching my chickens.
4. Tea of pasta DH isn't keen but he's away this evening.
5. Text from my sister.0 -
1. DDs parents evening was fab. I actually welled up a bit on the way home. Teacher said she was quiet (ha! I'll believe that when I see it!), considerate, hard working and doing well in all areas...and a pleasure to have in the class. Really thrilled
2. When we got home DD wanted to do some gardening. So we've planted some nasturtiums, sweetcorn, various herbs and borage. Also did some weeding, tucked the carrot patch in fleece and sorted the chickens out. Quite productive for a weekday evening!
3. All the little tomato, cucumber, pea and squash seedlings are shooting up on my dining room windowsill. I run down excitedly every morning to inspect for progress.
4. Found out that MIL has planned to take DD and I to Cliveden for wine tasting and lunch. That'll be nice as OH is escaping all the way up to Manchester with an old schoolfriend to see Dylan Moran (not at all jealous...)
5. Breakfast. Homemade wholemeal bread with scrambled eggs (from cooks) and some organic tomato. Can't wait until I can add fresh chives into the mix!
6. Received some really good marks on my latest lab write ups, which is encouraging.
Didn't do any uni work today but sorted lots of things out, so trying not to beat myself up.
Trying to focus on a couple of things at the time. Our household rota works well so things are ticking over nicely. Exam season looms, so time to get my head down.0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
For some reason I'm exhausted tonight! Really no excuse as today has been no more challenging than normal - whatever normal is!
Pleasures:
1) Ironing is on its way to being done, thanks to tag-team ironing with DH and I.
2) Massive load of washing done, but this seems to be like the painting of the Forth Bridge - never ending!
3) Made musical instruments with a class.... using straws!
4) Marking done. Again, never ending!
5) Discovered a local venue which does satellite screenings, similar to the ones I've been to with my mum. Now to find someone to go with me...Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
bon soir & gooday mhags good evening everyone else
quite an eventful week at work but my lips must remain sealed till next week. hoping when the dust settles the phoenix shall rise. i have plans which may be now able to hatch. enough mixed metaphors?
1) a bit of a giggle from an editor friend of mine "OK, I know typos happen, but the difference between hymn and hymen is extremely important. Whether religious participants read special, secret meanings into existing songs and hymens is entirely different from whether they read those meanings into songs and hymns. Very, very different." :rotfl:
2) glorious morning (deteriorated later in the day, but we'll gloss over that)
3) got a special mention in despatches at college board :T
4) friend's birthday drinks at pub. proud to say i stuck to soda and lime
5) shared the meat platter with friend. i stuck to the meat and beans, leaving the fries. go me :jMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good evening all, will post a quick 5 before I go and bring the washing in before its starts to go damp. We managed a heady 19o today ...I've had a jumper on all day
, a wee shower of rain first thing ....enough to dampen the veg patch but that's about all.
Didn't get up until 7.30am again....2 lie ins in a row!
Attended to a sore DD 2 , X-ray came back clear, thank goodness but she's been referred to a sports specialist doctor , so will see him tomorrow morning . She has hobbled about ( quite ably) on her crutches, which we've padded the underarm bits with a concoction of hand towels and bulldog clips! She managed to go into after school for play rehearsal , it's the show next week, so needs to be there.
Sorted out her wardrobe ( that's a lot of sorting! She has the biggest bedroom in the house ( she got upstairs the fastest the day we moved in) and has a walk in wardrobe. She's just has pile of stuff donated by old boss so we went through her older stuff that she doesn't wear/ doesn't fit. Filled a bag with that and then another with bedding. She's just got a new double bed ,so all single bedding has been bagged too and I took all that over to Salvos this morning,
Had a mooch around op shop and came away with a blue speckled china hen ( the kind that the top of the hen lifts off) and a vintage Cornish Ware blue butter dish which seemed rather underpriced at $5.25 ( £2.75) . I bought it as I lke blue China and that's the colour that's in my dresser at the moment, had a look underneath and it's a Judith Onion butter dish, which is from late 60's / early 70's .....just like mehowever, even though it's worth more than I paid for it , I shall keep it in my dresser and admire it....may even use it sometime!
Watched trashy lunchtime film with Dd2.... She wasn't really impressed! Did chores during the ad breaks ( we get so many ad breaks over here)
Took her up to school for rehearsals.
Enjoyed ( mostly ) time with the dog...he's been a bit of a rascal at times!
All downstairs is hoovered and dusted and tidy. Bathrooms are clean. Ironing fairy is working her way through a pretty large pile.
I've enjoyed 2 days off work ( apart from DD2 hurting herself) , only a couple of texts with new boss as I'd to let him know DD won't be at work on Saturday so he can cover shift. I've enjoyed not having any work stress to worry about , no staffing issues to resolve, no continual texts from old boss on my day off. I would often be sent photographs of something that wasn't done properly by another member of staff.....like a water bottle not filled up full or an ashtray not emptied. anyway....those days are gone!
Right I'd better get this washing in!
Have a great day ...I'm loving all the mentions of spring, my favourite season of the year ( and it should be this time of the year...not September! )0 -
Didn't post last night as didn't feel very positive after a very bad evening with DS and his behaviour! I really thought all that had stopped but it teaches me not to be complacent!!!
Anyway after a fitful sleep I am feeling slightly more positive so I will try to post for yesterday!
1. Had a great team meeting which reminded what a great team I have!!!
2. Lunch at D3's school - they do parents lunch every so often where parents can go and have a school dinner with your child - was lovely! DD3s last year in primary so these opportunities will never happen again!
3. Added pleasure from number 3 - great to live 3 moles from work so I can get to school in 5 mins
4. NSD
5. More reading done for dissertation -still no clarity in my questions but just need to keep reading!!!0
