    Pleasures for today (Monday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school OK.

    3) Applied for a job. Only took about an hour; sometimes applications are checked and re-written so many times it runs into days!

    4) Went to the library to print application form out and swapped my magazines for some fresh ones.

    5) Went to window company to get the strips to cover the gap between the frames and the new plasterwork.

    6) Nursery for seed trays and compost, using voucher my sister got my for Christmas.

    7) Got bigger son's cookery ingredients for school. (Curry this week).

    8) House reasonably tidy and washing done.

    9) Planted alpine strawberries, basil, tomatoes (3 sorts), cayenne pepper, sweet pepper, courgette and cucumbers. Windowsills are a bit crowded now.

    10) Did some exercise on the Wii fit.

Evening everyone :hello: I'm a bit annoyed today. A colleague is seemingly trying to get me into trouble for something that I'm not guilty of!!!! *sigh*

    Anyway, a heap of pleasures.

    1) Finished my book. I'm ensuring I participate in the Reading Challenge that I set up in school too! A parent told me that it was really working with their child - they wanted to read and were reading loads of different books because of the challenge! :j :j

    2) DH posted my books for my buyers on eBay. I've given him the money for the postage. :)

    3) Yellow sticker fish cakes for supper, with plenty of veg. Yum!

    4) Marking has been done!

    5) Trying to learn a little more Spanish in preparation for my trip to Madrid.

    Night all

gone 11. how did that happen?! hugs to kk whose post i missed yesterday. feeling blue is no fun. my love life is also a big zero (and still sharing a house with xoh is i feel going to be a bit of a hindrance!) my mother 'kindly' points out with my job i haven't got time for a boyfriend, but it would be nice sometimes to have a little romance so you have my empathy over lack of romance and parents saying unhelpful things. if rubenesque isn't your thing why not join me and others on the lose weight os thread. it's a supportive thread where everyone's very friendly.
    1) spent the morning wading through emails. not a pleasure, but down from 804 to 545
    2) gbf came round bearing gifts of bread and tomato soup. we had a long natter
    3) afternoon mainly taken up with loooooong meeting so no marking done (well done vickya but, having discovered one of my key markers is off ill, have managed to divvy out her marking phew
    4) dd2 picked me up after work and we went to mum's for coq au vin. dd1 joined us and had spanish omlette. hers was ready first so now we know, the egg came before the chicken
    5) dds went off to tesc0 for ingredients for a rainbow fruit salad and mum and i watched an episode of italy unpacked.
gosh it's windy out there. hope all are safely tucked in

Kittikins - hugs to you. Parents are able to say comments which are able to hurt.

Mine for the past couple of days

    1. Went to London on Sunday with DH and went to Natural History museum for the first time in years and enjoyed it.

    2. Had some lunch in restaurant nearby a lovely plate of salad and fairly reasonably priced.

    3. Spent a bit of time tidying up the garden.

    4. Gave some eggs to a neighbour to try and help build bridges. A few years ago she stopped talking to DH and myself. She has started talking to me as I've not given her much option.

    5. Work was reasonable - fairly busy.

    6. Lovely sunrise.

kittikins just think how far you've come in last 2 years, you've done your masters in education, you've got a job as a teacher, I'm sure you are an amazing teacher as much as you're an amazing mum. The financial sacrifice / living situation will be worth it when you see Miss Kitty flourish at school which will reflect on her at home. I think we have to remember and hope that we as parents will never make such cutting and hurtful comments to our children. Sunny hugs for you and Miss Kitty x

So day 7 at work was a crazy one again! Came in and fridge that broke a month ago broke again today, so more food chucked out as it was spoiled. So two men in the tiny kitchen meant I couldn't get in and then an extra two men in the form of the electricians meant I definitely couldn't get in the kitchen .....anyway, finally caught up with everything and was able to leave and not go in until Friday :) I have not had two days off in such a while .

Just had a text from new boss offering me 50 cents for each tea towel/ cloth I wash! Oh....okay! Since about August I've been taking them home as no one else was and washing them as no one else was.....received not even a thanks! Using my powder, my electricity and my water for nothing, so I shall gladly wash them for a fee. I love doing laundry anyway so it's no hardship!

Train in and out today. I've been driving in past week so it was nice to get back to normal and go on train. It was still dark when I left the house and the birds weren't even awake. Then I only had 2 minutes to wait for a train this afternoon.

Nabbed a magazine out the swap box at library ....just a recent edition.....2008! Read it whilst I waited for Dd2 at her appointment and then left it there for someone else to read.

Discovering that old boss has been less than honest in a lot of things recently means I will have to consider whether a friendship continues. Being lied to isn't a nice feeling . Now I'm sure we can all be economical with the truth at times but big liar, liar pants on fire untruths ain't nice!

Anyway onwards and upwards as always!

Have a very pleasant Tuesday :)

DD your weight loss thread sounds good - I too am rubenesque and wish I wasn't! Been saying for months I need to get a grip! - snap on the romance front too - kids, work and study don't lend themselves to having an active love life too!

    so 5 for yesterday:

    1. Work was ok - not too many meeting so actually got some thinking time!
    2. House quite calm for a change - no arguing
    3. Finally getting to grips with the reading for my dissertation - although still don't have a question! (working on it though which is a start!)
    4. Definitely spring like if a little cold
    5. Leftover pork turned into sweet and sour was great - and enough left for another meal!

    This mustn't be long...famous last ones &.

Dramatic purples and yellows are troublesome, like right now
but & is steering clear of follow-up visit as must hit ferry road tonight and loads to do - big Because - insufficient hours in recent days due to unforeseen ambushes by Life.
    Small snatch of osps therefore.

    1. At-risk person's b'day yesterday, so cakemaking at 0352h[said cuisine clock] while albion cricket plummeted to previously unplundered depths. Initial in candles worked out, have just printed pics. Sang the HB song solo:-) and things were OK. Carer then arrived, meant HB sung again, oerformed as sassy end of bed duo:-) ending with flourishing bow. The first laughter I have ever heard from person, then tears, but it felt like a breakthrough. Had been girding loins after dire and draining suicide/overdose loop 5hrs Sunday arvo. Little assemblage of bits noticed and seemingly appreciated, esp. a lovely knitted squares blanket[& bought from St M's fête in hope, fortnightish ago] which was loved immediately and it went on bed at once. & so longs for person to break through bed-bound mindset.

    2. M's 70th bday cake baked o/n Thurs/Fri., iced Sun, after no. 1, before early run to Trump before Church @10, to show M. reason for No Spits, in case he imagined & unwilling to return. Not so!- desperate to do so with so much £outlay atm[and more in petrol for coming week's big kms]. But lovely hug and chat. His son's a surgeon and M really disliked look of &'s arm, wanted to call him over, but have to head to France tonight.

    3. Neighbour has had huskie for nearly 5 months. She's not yet 1yr, but had 8 gorgeous pups throughout Fri...& tore about: near-village butcher[gorgeous bones given with story of why], w8rs for duchy milk and vicar's girls' eggs, our charity for bedding etc. & saw 2 of them born. Neighbour stunned. It is now clear seller suspected sth and got shot of Fallen Woman, suggested a boxer might be responsible. Anyway she is a marvellous Mum and neighbour is coping...but 8! Can already see each handsome/beautiful individual. At least parents are of equable size/body type and they seem to have maman's coat.

    4. Speaking of coats[and that wasn't deliberate segue clunkery] raced to near Church tabletop sale, Sat and, among small various-es, a sumptuous, full-length, rich singing cherry red faux fur chinchilla coat is &'s - a £5 bit of Sod It:-) Brand: Kent Street, Made In USA, don't know them, don't usually do faux-anything. It's an absolute knock-out. Lurve it already with only a try-on so far.

    5. Then to ruggers, SRUFC to usual heights[think albion at willow], but we are SUPPORTERS and &'s a TRÈS vocal, fervent running commentary advisor, with beneficial correction updates for Referee. In fact, we are a stand full of like experts, gathering to freely give our time and knowledge to a paltry end. Handed over a decent-sized brass/copper peacock[similar to this]

I picked up recently, thinking Club might find a place for it. It's polished up pretty well. Might be better if Club symbol was phoenix....

6.. Phoned 'my' French farm early today, to secure butter pick-up as extra cadeau en route South. Mutual delight... and I'm tapping at this while spooky men sing of course:

Yaaaay, they really are back in a few months. Expect & groupie-stalker absence.

eeek, have I really spent so long blethering on her.e? Yes, &, as usual.
Blessings where wanted and welcome, hug them tight and really feel each osp.
    They're all around.
bop alert- paddington dvd out 23/3[& had brief mild thoughts re:, for France]

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Breakfast in Ikea then shopping. After 15 years, I no longer have second hand folding chairs and a reclaimed house clearance table! 2 nice chairs and a (cheap) proper table. :-) Old bits are on Freecycle.

    2) Made further use of our local Laura Ashley shop (nearly shut). 2 cans of paint for my stairs/landing (£32 reduced to £7) and a rug for sons' room with 80% off.

    3) Also bought chalk paint from a different shop to paint the actual steps of the stairs. This will be the project for the forthcoming weekend....

    4) Put chairs and table together without too much bother.

    5) Took the cardboard packaging to parents' bonfire. My mum was having her little moment today, Kittikins. :-/ There was a dig about my joblessness (though she gave up work before having children and hasn't worked since 1974). I haven't mentioned the application forms I keep sending off. Also a dig at all of us for being hypochondriacs (?)

    6) Got the fire lit now and will endeavour to do all the housework I should have done instead of swanning about shopping! Looking forward to Holby later.

Glad to see you back & - but I really do hope you are not ignoring real injuries!!! You have given me a good telling off often - but now it is my turn!!! Slow down! take it easy! and get your self seen to if you need to!!! Coat sounds gorgeous though as do the cakes - do you want to come and make mine for the Rev this weekend?

    1. definitely spring like today - lots of green buds and shoots and Yellow thing all over the place this morning on the way to work

    2. Shouldn't be a pleasure at all as it was someone's misfortune but it made me giggle on the way to work (even though I know it shouldn't!) I pass a mere on the way to work that is at the bottom of a hill with a funny bend and I have always thought that I was surprised that more cars didn't end up in it (it has no fence or wall at one point right next to the road at the bottom of the hill on the bend!!! Today it happened - as I came round the corner there was an Audi TT nose down in the mere with!!! Standing by was a police car and ambulance and the driver - who was thankfully ok just looking on with a cup of tea in their hands (obviously provided by the house owner next to the mere! It was quite a scene! looked liked something from a TV show!!! It did make me giggle - served Audi TT driver right for driving too fast in their fast car one a slow road!!!

    3. Washed snuggle blankets and hung them out before work as they were smelling decidedly doggy!!! Now snuggled under them smelling of fresh air!

    4. Passed latest assignments with good marks (would have been better if I hadn't lost 5 marks for submitting 5 mins late!!!)

    5. Husband of a patient who really touched me (and lots of others) came in today and wants to raise money for us - he is doing ok and their kids are doing ok - warmed my heart! - reminded me why I do what I do

    6. Got the 9 letter conundrum right in the day therapy unit today - after many people had tried! not bad for an aging dyslexic - I am rubbish as conundrums normally and I won a cupcake for my effort!!!

    and forgot:
