    blimey it's late. night

Or early , if you went to bed at 8 and are now awake with jet lag :p
It's the first lot I've had in the whole two weeks, so can't complain

Hugs PK, just believe it was for a reason.

Hello, I am back :D. Bliddy cold, innit? :p

1 home, home and home again. So good to be back
    2 two new bathrooms, beautiful
3 laughing with colleagues about how business class has changed us "what's your favourite champagne?" :rotfl: (veuve cliquot, if you're interested ;) ). Back to steerage when I'm paying.
4 spent 10 mins in the bar on the A380 with a whole group of flight attendants. Was waiting for the loo when even they were told to take a seat due to turbulence. Interesting to chat to them about the whole turbulence thing- they love it. Made me feel easier about it.
5 some great films watched - Brave, What we did on our holidays, gypsy, Jersey boys, believe (this was a lovely film about Matt busby training a group of under 12 footballers)
6 DD is home for the weekend
    7. Even DS looked happy to see me - and loves his knock off football kits got from HK markets

    Might make a cuppa
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • PK so sorry to hear about the job

CCP - thanks for taking the time and effort to reply. Hope your arm is feeling better. I think from the pics its a woodpecker

Frith - great to see bigger son aiming high with his options. Good luck to him.
A few teachers told my DS he was bright enough (including his maths teacher) but a few others told him he would never amount to anything and sadly he believed them. The ethos of the kids at his school was not to aim high but to take the p*ss out of anyone that did :(

Struggling for pleasures not feeling well. There was no heating at work yesterday morning and after trying to sit and work for 4 hours I decided to leave at lunchtime. Came home, had a bath and tried to warm up think I've caught a chill

    1. its the weekend :j

    2. warm bath, cold meds and afternoon nap :o

    3. ald! spatchcock garlic chicken & roasted veg for tea. Quick & tasty and saved money as was otherwise thinking of a takeaway

    4. put another quilt on my bed last night - now I have one thick and 2 thin ones and was nice and toasty. DS was feeling cold too so put a thick quilt on his bed too. This is the first time this winter that hes said hes cold with just a thin quilt

    5. Cold and frosy morning.... but the sun is shining :)

Have a good weekend everyone x

Bedtime again! How quickly it comes round!

We are just in from the lovely cold air conned cinema where we watched ' The Theory of Everything' which is about Stephen Hawking, it was a beautiful film and worth going to see if you get the chance. I'd a tear in my eye more than a few times. Cheap tickets purchased at post office on uni campus , saving $7 each.

'Tis hot .....but starting to cool a little ....from 37o to 28o at the moment.a breeze is blowing through the house as we've opened the front and back doors.

Work.....bit of an endurance test today. Seems I've lost a cook, who sent me a text to say she won't be coming back but won't answer her phone. Not sure what's going on with her and one of my really good baristas gave me 2 weeks notice today as she's been offered more hours where she also works for more money, so would be silly not to...so the search continues and meantime I have to pick up the slack and just keep going.
Very busy today but out that door at 2 pm.

Came home and had a snoozette....was supposed to be going for a shower but didn't quite make it to the bathroom! Then we went to aldi to do a shop for work and then decided to go out to cinema. Trying hard not to make my OHs weekend miserable if I'm working.

ooh I saw an echidna today as I drove to work at 6.30am. How fabulous !

    Have a lovely day :)

    -great crossover )))

Back in Hampstead days, there was a wonderful French troupe, Cirque du Soleil, who did both, with comedic panache and glory. Used to see them in the dear old Hackney Empire[we had 'Friday Night is Theatre Night']

    1. albion victorious last night, to the joy of all assembled at SRUFC. Correct result. & relieved that Mr 1/2p safe[was laid out for a bit too long at one point] - Toulon needs him back in one piece.

    2. &'s verre de rouge gratis, insistence by man who said 'that bottle's been open a while. You're doing me a favour.' Vin was rounded, deep and v.g.

    3. Wearing the rather lovely Pandora bead on silver rope from NZ friend.

    4. Hooray! Someone's answered f/c 'OFFERED' fridge freezer chez bed-bound person, big Amercian style dbl-door thing.. Would have been out now, but am hanging on in case he can collect quickly-ish. Sod's Law - his em @23.08h hier soir: & signed off after sending one@23.06h.

    5. Friend I introduced here years ago[after hideous road accident, young son left quadraplegic, mum of 4], but who was nastily trolled - here on mse, yes - may well be starting back at Uni for Mental Health Nursing. I hope so. She's been courageous also through Court battles[former husband after big money pay-out post-accident] Our mtg was a fluke. She did not manage her PGCE, kk[another Well Done! to you. & is aware of the toll]and I pray this path can be a real win/win on all sides.

ccp - hope all is healing steadily.
pk - I'll say the same, along with the certainty others have expressed: these things DO happen for the best. Your instincts were right - and that's worth remembering too. Ferrety cuddles also get to the heart of things and with OH, you know what makes your home and happiness yours, no-one else's. You have such a lovely way of writing, with little quirks of sudden humour and clear sight that always make me smile and re-read.
mcc - you'll be out to see boo and fatty before you know it.

Foggy as whatever here so far.

Good luck to those with not-so-good news.

    My pleasures today:

England's win last night - so glad BBC are still showing some major sporting fixtures
Used my bus pass to go our local library Open Day - not totally free as I put in a donation for the lovely coffee & home-made cakes - but wonderful to see so many people, from small children to older people enjoying our library.

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

PurpleKitten - huge hugs to you.

VJsmum - I've seen the upper echelons of an aeroplane, but never had the privilege of being able to sit there. However, next week I fly to Dubai in steerage. Steerage is packed to the rafters, so I'm rather hoping that someone will see that I'm travelling alone and guide me to a larger seat with champagne... Fingers crossed eh? I can't afford the upgrade even into Premium Economy. :o

Pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) Took a bag of items to the charity shop.

    2) Took DH to see Jimmy Carr last night as his Christmas treat. Great if you like lewd and crude, which I do. :rotfl:

    3) My reading challenge is gathering a pace at school. I'm proving to my class every day that Mr VickyA is signing my reading record, so I can have a smiley face on my chart as well! After 19 smiley faces, I'll get a new book as a prize. :D

    4) Catching up with Jack Whitehall on Backchat. Brilliant!

    5) Had a lovely walk into town this morning.

Going up to see my parents this evening. Haven't really spent any quality time with them since Christmas, so it'll be nice to catch up - and see the dog and cats. :D I'll still be taking my reading record with me. Maybe I can ask my mummy and daddy to sign it for me. ;) :rotfl:

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Oh, it isn't my money - work pay for it. I wouldn't afford it myself. I find it all a bit embarrassing, actually. Having said that, the folks in business are just ordinary people like you and me - either work are paying or they are treating themselves as part of a special holiday.

Definitely mummy and daddy should sign your reading challenge - what a super idea, and great that you are doing it too. :p

  • Donkeys, again!

Right it looks like PK needs a :heartpuls special from Jenny! Anyone else want one?

5 Derby County! Won! Had snorkers, bacon, poached egg, toast, beans and toms. Tatties and mushrooms, cup of tea and jam on toast for breakfast this morning! Rubs tum.

4 Hearts! Won! Just read that some people are mistaking daffodil bulbs for onions! Core Blimey, Darwinism at work. Not that there is any difference really. So watch out, and remember to chop your onions toe nail style, hust like your BoP does. Well tomorrow we will have stuffed buzzard, but we are undecided whether it shall be with the pudding, brewed since being torched at Xmas, or the veg soup of BoP! Choices!

3 Chelsea. Won! Sat with the BoPsie last night the leeks getting a pounding in the rugby. Was a good game!

2 Southampton Won! Day BoP has been doing up the web words, while listening to the words of Charles Wheeler. The road to war. Interesting with BoP's book of bits!

1 Manchester City. Donkeys! Note, there are other ways to lose your 40 pennies in a bet!

Well, that is the end of the £5 put on in late December and !!!! Well!
