Missmoneysave - I read your 2) as "delicious roasted acorn squirrel" for tea!

    VickyA - well done

    Welcome home, VJsmum.

    Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Snow from the weekend has almost melted.

    3) Went into town to have a cup of tea with school friend.

    4) Had a massive run of charity shop perusing yesterday including popping to Malvern! Got a White Stuff tunic top. Interested to note that Malvern has no snow, just us now!

    5) Home and tidied up.

    6) Mortgage statement arrived which was odd as I'd been talking about it with my friend during the morning. Will have to do some finance juggling - only 10 years to go.....

    7) Also in the post was a postcard from smaller son's maths department telling me he is doing well and working hard!

    8) Pasta bake for tea.

    9) Following the hearty pasta bake, sons also ate a punnet of grapes, a large bag of dried apricots, toast, maltesers and a bowl of cereal.

    10) Watched Celebrity Big Brother.

    11) Had a game of scrabble with bigger son.

Hello from land of great heat....summer seems to have made a return.

So day umpty thump at work, quite busy and very glad to finish....have asked that I am not contacted tomorrow unless it's an emergency! I will be back in on Saturday for another 6 days. I have said I will do this until other cook is better ( though have had no contact from her, even though I've sent texts and phoned ...I'm a bit concerned as she lives on her own...I just don't know where:()

However, on the plus side, I made some amazing looking chocolate cupcakes. A carrot cake and melting moments although they call them yoyos here. Oh and banana and coconut muffins. Cut up 2 big trays of brownies I made yesterday ,I love baking and I love when my customers enjoy what I make .

Oooooh about 30 seconds to wait for a train! Seats a plenty!
I love people watching on the train....we are all creatures of habit especially on the early morning train !

Popped into library ...looking for The Secret Life of Bees ...not available so borrowed another book and then joy oh joy...someone had deposited a pile of my favourite magazine in the swap box....so I carted said pile home, have read 4 of them this afternoon and will return them when I'm done.

And saying that, I had a little pile of my read UK magazines that I then took up and left in swap box via post office to collect a parcel.....with the remains of an Australia Post card that the dog had chewed! There was about a third of the card left but luckily had OHs name on it and most of the delivery number!

Popped into bakers shop and claimed my free rolls with loyalty card, got 6 very delicious seeded rolls. Which was served with burgers from the freezer stock!

My lovely DD2 ( some of the time lovely) has written a very eloquent letter to her previous year head at old school. Biatches are still biatching over social media and our next step will be police intervention. Anyway, she wrote , very beautifully a rather poignant letter to him , to say it's still continuing and to please make the biatches aware of the next step. We both had a bit of a sob whilst she read it out. So , whilst , obviously that's not a pleasure at all, her eloquence in writing was......though I did have to help with some paragraph spacing.......would have been like one of those posts on marriage/ relationship forum ...where the OP gets lambasted for no paragraphs!!

Also on the plus side , school seems so far so good. She's been chosen for the school softball team and has a part in the school play, rehearsals start tomorrow ! And she made brownies tonight...with me shouting out the recipe from next room....I could make it in my sleep , I do it so often at work. Seems to be delicious if the amount if times OHs been in and out of the kitchen has anything to do with it!

Do have a good Thursday.....no alarm clock being set tonight...yahoo!
  • Same old boring Thursday morning.

Guess Ms DD would not had played the members the other day! No alarm clock knights, Frith, tut tut, goldfish bowl watch for you! Gosh who is next for BoP step of naughtiness? Judi, ah lass, you got the meaning of this thread. Nonsenses limited with ... New jumpers

5 Raffles, who this morning leapt on to the table while BoP was eating his monster food, was confused when BoP went to pore the boiling kettle into the leaf tea, no bags here, pot. He unfortunately missed out on an unguarded bowl, as he thinks every time we go to the door, he has to be first outs.

4 Vouchers came from the T emporium. And we have collected 2 points in store this term! We have amassed a massive £2:50. Better in BoP pocket then their greasy palms.

3 Laptop falied. Under the bin! Booted, out one quick slip and gone. Currantly being refreshed! My gawd!

2 Day BoP has bins a bits busy with things! And no lappy, to boot, so this is done via the steam pc.

  • 1. Your pleasures, as ever, are perking me up.
    2. Awkward classes are becoming ever so slightly more pliable, which is reassuring.
    3. Got ahead of my workload so I can spend the weekend with OH, a rare treat indeed.
    4. Coaching the Youth Speaks team is going well. I'm not sure we'll get through the first round, but they're putting in a lot of effort.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Just a quick, one-handed post to say I'm still here: I had to have a bit cut out of my arm on Tuesday (this week has been great :undecided ) and it's still a bit ouch-y. Only another 12 days until I can have the stitches out... :(

Will keep reading, but won't be posting until both arms are working again - typing with one hand is so SLOW!

Skint - your bird could be a green woodpecker - despite the name (and how they appear in bird books) they're often quite a yellowy shade of green. Or maybe a siskin - they're very yellow, and more common in the south of the country in cold weather. The RSPB bird identifier, on their website, is always useful for putting names to more unusual birds. (The one in BoP's photo is a greylag goose, BTW, if anyone wanted to know that!)

I'll stop there, as it's just taken me 15 minutes to type that one-handed. :o
Back after a very long break!
  • 1. Morning saw snow falling in London; skype convo with a colleague in Dubai who has never seen snow and is constantly fascinated with our current weather. Makes me chuckle!
    2. Cheque from ERNIE; only a small one, but still...
    3. Walk to the bank to pay in cheque, have only just switched to this bank and was thrilled by the warm and welcoming customer service so this led to me writing an email to the UK Head of Banking to praise the individual by name. (Yes, I was *that* impressed)
    4. Long phone conversation with a colleague from years ago, who I've not spoken with in at least 5 years. Lots of gossip and a productive work-related outcome too.
    5. Spag bol for supper.
  • It’s been a few days so in no particular order lots of pleasures within the below:

I can’t believe quite how much “stuff and clutter” we have got rid of, as we are boxing up the bedroom to redecorate. It needs doing but it feels like slow progress as we are still packing up. We sent off 2 boxes of computer bits to a person we know who refurbishes and sends them to Africa. 4 bin bags of clothes to the heart foundation clothes bin, and there’s probably another 4 bags in the making I’m being a bit ruthless but more than enough and can’t wear them all at once. Even DH commented that he was feeling guilty saying I don’t have to clear out, but I feel better to be able to see what we already have. I am keeping things with meaning and that fit – well.:)

DH took me out yesterday we had a mooch about the shops admittedly yesterday, we went to home bargains which is always nice to re stock, we had a voucher for Costa which was actually far better than I expected and it was nice to stop and chat over a drink. Then we went to Costco and used a couple of vouchers, bought a new recycling bin as we are slowly gathering things for the kitchen refurb, the old bin will go to my fathers, and we picked up meat, milk, salad and bread so have no need to visit Mr T, who are splattered all over the news any rate.:p

Took our little gal ferret to be neutered I was so worried about her as she’s not been under anesthetic before but she is wandering about recovering. It still amazes me they have major surgery and are up and about in a day.:T

Just picked up a large animal run from Freecycle which isn’t for us we have got it to pass on to friends who run an animal rescue.:)

Cooking a fake away tonight, cooking a starter followed by A Costco pizza for tea tonight. :D

Topped and tailed cleaning the upstairs from de cluttering and making sure it’s clean for the little ones wound. I could hoover the floor in the office for the first time in a long while.

Squirrelsmall - I've never had anything from ERNIE :-(

Sorry to hear about your arm, CCP.

    Pleasures for today (Thursday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to Ludlow for a look round and enjoyed a bit of shopping in the health food shop (more on that later).

    3) Went up the Clee Hill (one of them!) to assess the snow levels to see if we could sledge there over the weekend. Too patchy now, sadly.

    4) Made a malt loaf (bought molasses from health food shop).

    5) Seemed to be cooking all evening as did baked potatoes etc for boys, yesterday's pasta for me with some garlic mushrooms added plus the malt loaf then 2 loads of popcorn (from same shop as earlier!)

    6) Watched Celebrity Big Brother.

    7) Bigger son talking sensibly about his options again and that he would like to be a doctor.

Bit of an annoying end to the evening as I made the mistake of answering the phone at about 10pm. It seems disloyal to type about it but by that point in the evening, my mother has always had several glasses of red wine and is in full attack mode. :-/ I don't answer the phone after 8pm and haven't for years. TodayI learned my aunty (uncle's funeral tomorrow) has always behaved like an old spinster, that everyone in one branch of my dad's family is neurotic (which was particularly harsh as there is now just one left living) and that my sister should let her visit more and shouldn't make a fuss about being tired from feeding the baby all night. :-/ I never challenge her about anything but I am starting to wonder if I should.

    Ooo, remembered an 8)!

Won a fireplace on Ebay to replace the one the builder broke! So I shall be off to Solihull hopefully over the weekend to collect it. I've never driven there but I did used to go on the train when I was young to visit the ice rink.
