    Good evening everyone,

mhags - so glad DD2 had a good day at her new school.

Well, I'm absolutely delighted to announce that my lesson observation went VERY well indeed. When I went for my feedback, the head said "Well, I've got to tell you that I've just seen my first Outstanding lesson in this school!" I assumed it was the other teacher who'd gone in before me, but she said it was ME!!! :j :j :j Absolutely delighted! Told my fab TA straight away, who was equally as delighted - then text almost everyone I know! Got to maintain it now... :o

    So, pleasures for the day:

    1) Outstanding lesson observation. Did I mention it? :D

    2) NSD :j :j

    3) Spoke to both my mum and a friend this evening. My mum is offering to buy me a tumble dryer for my birthday. DH's face was a picture when I told him. I pointed out that I think my mum is fed up of me taking our towels to be fluffed up in their dryer! :rotfl:

    4) Have learned about this 30-day Get Chucked Challenge. Think I'll start now...

    5) Showed my class bubbling mud in New Zealand, on the good old YouTube. They were amazed! As was I, when DH and I visited a few years ago.

CCP - manky Monday indeed. Mostly gone now:-)

    1. Misty moon almost full. I never tire of looking up - and down - and all around, looking and listening. Can do so because not disconnected from real books, real people, real Life. I accept what kindle kobo et al do - considered for self when long-haul travelling - but all these things are aids, NOT substitutes. For &, the bookness of books is irreplaceable.

    2. Not a deliberate follow, but it happened that & saw H is for Hawk, opened it....ooh, is that the time? Last fenny bus in 8 mins...here I am, so must have caught it[with an extra rectangular parcel:p]

    3. All the ice has stayed frozen all day, but haven't felt cold. Must be blubber:D&, lose it!

    4. Heard before, but so enjoying Wimsey repeat:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03j865z/episodes/guide

    5. Troubling, in extremis - one of &'s cases. I know I don't really/shouldn't really put even that here, but breakthrough just isn't happening. No way through, despite etc.etc. So, let me put that to bed with, umm, OK: NPD.
    #
    Night all.

vicky, delighted to have your reason to edit my post:-))))))))))) Marvellous news - and our mud's great, too. Loved it - old days of Morere Springs, Opoutama and round about.

Well done vicky :T Re your 4, have you seen the '2015 - No Clutter To Be Seen' board? Just at the end of the first month and I'm running out of things to dispose of already! Others are still going great guns

    1. Woke to beautiful yellow thing, always a good start to my day
    2. Repairs people came and fixed my back door lock within an hour of me reporting that it hadn't locked since yesterday. ToppyDog gave me the heebyjeebies overnight as he kept on pricking up his ears but I put the mobile on 999 without pressing call so felt perfectly safe ;). And of course the dainty bedside lamp would do an intruder a nasty injury :rotfl:
    3. Everything on my Monday to do list has been done, something which very seldom happens but to be honest it was all easy stuff :)
    4. Back to back Fools and Horses, still as funny today as when they were first televised.
    5. The badger is no longer, blonde mink has taken over

Horrid white stuff out there now, a pleasure for ToppyDog as he runs round with his nose under it then flicks it up over his back. The dog equivalent of playing snowballs, perhaps?

    Sweet dreams :)

Cold and frosty this morning - Nipping in to say hello:wave: before getting head down to finish these assignments today!!!!

    So 5 for yesterday:

    1. Made tomato pasta sauce for DS's lunches and turned the leftovers into spaghetti bolognaise for dinner all before 8am!
    2. Friend took DD to and from Scouts as I did the last 2 weeks so I didn't have to go out (shame I still had to pick DS up at Cadets though! but only did 1 trip instead of 4!!! Mondays are manic!)
    3. Not a bad sleep
    4. Making some progress with assignments!
    5. Work crazy busy but still loving it!!! :T

Have a good day folks - not coming back on until assignments done and handed in!!!

In best OS fashion I am in my study with a thick onsie on over my clothes and socks and slippers on as I refuse to put the heating on just for me (the study doesn't have a radiator in it anyway!)

    Afternoon,

    Congrats Vicky
    Good luck Judi
CCP - hope Tuesday is better

Pleasures for the last day or so.

    1. Afternoon tea in the hotel - extremely civilised. Scones clotted cream and darjeeling. Hooray for the British influence in HK! :p
    2. The ferries and all the harbour traffic generally. i love water and live as far away from it as it's possible to be in the UK - yesterday took a long walk along the prom, a ferry to HK island, a tram to the other ferry stop and another ferry back. This was in the afternoon in between my formal work commitments
    3. Finally meeting my HK colleauges, whom i have been corresponding with for some time. the Board of Studies went extremely well and the students were very positive and extremely complimentary. Makes such a change from our home students who constantly complain ("there#s too long a queue in the canteen", "the car park charge has gone up" "Our marks were a day late")
    4. Things seem to be moving quickly re our purchase in Ice Cream town
    5. An excellent visit to a new institution today. A tour of the campus, and the longest highest escalator I have ever been on. Took over a minute from top to bottom and went up about 5 floors in one go, got a bit scared towards the top "what if someone falls?"

    http://www.hkdi.edu.hk/

    6. The baby in the cafe right now going "mm mm" every time he is fed :)
    7. Excellent food - except the chinese :p I have an extreme sensitivity to MSG and sulphites so it isn't good for me at all. Steak and sauteed spinach is sublime (very alliterative)
    8. Lovely weather yesterday and today - a sunny 20 degrees. Much cooler than Singapore, but very acceptable.
    9. Interesting to meet an ex pat ex student. Just upped sticks and came here 4 years ago and says he's never leaving
    10. DS is better - he was off with tonsilitis all last week. Always does it when i am away.

off to two induction sessions this evening, and to interview a prospective student.

Hve a great day all - 2 days till home time :T
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Far away in time!

Frith - eeep that mug sounds deeply unpleasant! Hurrah for Le Creuset kettle & profound respects to Aunty who can so gracefully accommodate the past. Delighted to hear sons giving nasty woman deserved hard time & delighted that sundry jabs do not interfere with roleplaying. Snow as you queue for pie & chips? Scandalous - chips cool too fast anyway! Whimpering with laughter at party leaflet & fate. Well done you & smaller son getting past doctor and over shoe hurdle.
CCP - won an iPad?! <Awe!> Love the description of the rough-haired terrier! Isis extra purry after vet - aw. Right with you on the delights of Asda pizza. Yikes winebottle though! Mondays - ergle, but £20 credit is a nice gesture.
BoP - start next game of Backgammon having just fed Raffles?! More interviews? All the best & safe travels! Love the special diet for BoPsie - very thoughtful. Hoping Dippy goes on tour. "T'd and caked" - splendid! Salmon too - I may recommend this diet to all summoned for that particular close up. Where swans & ducks? Not *all* mallards I think (blinking small screen.)
VickyA - hurrah on handwritten thankyou note - enjoy the glow of virtue no matter what the response! Ginger bread moose?! Brilliant! How can egg & soldiers be a *guilty* pleasure? Hop icky poorly all gone? Rousing cheers on Outstanding & ooh - drier for a birthday present!
Rainy-Days - clean bedding is a real pleasure. Lazy wind I learned at cornish mother's knee. Glad to hear you washed car & pampered self in optimum order!
ampersand - "chew of piece of peel" - what is the virtue herein? Parcelforce over the fence?! Only you, ampersand! Aw - manhugs & unexpected catching ups are special times. What sons make of new cousin may be difficult to explain. My lot no longer find babies at all interesting (while years back, eyeballs and the amazing small toes were showstoppers.) Well done with Emporium & very well played both sides in cs! Must try singing "to the dump" next we go. "Mud custard", rugby news, emporium delights flowing both ways. So intrigued by "smashed 'beer-bottle' sugar pieces" discovered that make your own requires seriousy clean pan."The best way to make sure your pan is totally clean is to scrub it with kosher salt and the juice from half of a lemon, which has the fantastic side effect of leaving you with a very shiny saucepan. Rinse very well after scrubbing." I learn so much! 'Engrenages' is now on my to watch list! 80 cheesy pigs?! No messing with bookness of books! Kindle on phone bliss when sat waiting though. Ian Carmichael reading Wimsey? Splendid!
DundeeDoll - I do love a good oar. Mate has one as a stair rail. Hope dog lump nothing major - candles fire & dawgs sound splendid! "pneumonic used" is glorious albeit context a bit dreich. All best with new marker! 90 minutes housework sounds admirable. (Must try it.) Merciless chilli only edible if you have a severe cold, surely? That 75th birthday lunch sounds amazing & well done planning time off to recover!
judi - mine was a Quaker Elder til she retired from that - must try Reverend Mother on her see if it fits... "embrace your creative side" - not always MS but such fun if it can be... Omelettes are wonderful things, and all the more so if someone else washes up. Fingers crossed for stroked runner friend (take spam over to family?) & hope committee pay up. FD an ally? Blimey, well done! Likewise friend who advises on the good stuff on sale! Worth making a few minutes for cs. Even once a fortnight. Hurrah for good company & good cooking & counting blessings about not being immured in big green. Monday mayhem in taxi role - seriously scheme to share. Or volunteer - Scouts friendly & energetic & it's contagious! Sartorial image impressive.
mhagster - horrified to hear of unfriendly nurse & ye gods sorting staff by text while off duty & in hospital! Hurrah for Ironing Fairy! The cafe even ropes OH into handyman duties?! Love the sound of all the animals in your life... Less so lists & needing extra blankets in January. Intrigued by broccolini & hope youngest steadies down soon. No cook, pleats to shorten (yikes!) and it's cold? Raffles! Glad DD2 compliant over photos & saw a nice GP. Now trying to visualise zillions of little pumpkins...
missmoneysave - welcome! Bother the pharmacy but hurrah reading time & yes, snoring *is* a lovely soothing noise (says she who apparently snores like a hippo.) Isn't unexpected snow closure frustrating?! slow cooker chicken & bacon sounds glorious. Sometimes trainees make more time to listen & learn than their more experienced colleagues - glad it went well for you.
Purple kitten - surely if you feel off colour bloods will be misleading? What are you propagating in January?! Hurrah freelance promotion! Hope blood results can be sorted & new care for DF work out well. Work pay for passport? Splendid!
newlywed - you konMarie too?! Samosa'ed plastic bags or got straight into workspace?! Much impressed by all the forward planning as it is the best way to get nice food on a budget when tired & hungry.
greywitch - DGD & cupcakes, long-sought novel and roast chicken dinner - huzzah! Snow emphatically in the eye of the beholder. Snow days for children may be fun - me, I just thank heaven for flexi & an understanding boss! Onion sets & birdfeeders - happy combination!
VJsmum - you're playing with duck (DUKWs?) while son is suffering at home & husband rebuilding bathroom? (*Splendid* timing!) Hope medicines work! "opportunity ... grateful ... would like to go home" - hang on tight! Harbour traffic, polite students, just having to eat steak, son better, house purchase moving & home soon.
mcculloch - right with you on the delights of snow & not having to go out into it. I darkly suspect eat well for less of having big 4 sponsorship or at least placement... Forgive me if I do not share your love of Yorkshire Gold - more for those who do appreciate it!
sparrer - well done stocking up and getting the haul home safe. "very great and well-loved" is you now - memorial can wait! Yippee lottery win & well done on expectation management with DGD3! Happy homecoming to DGD1 & may collie settle in swiftly. Very glad family keeping you up to date even if DS clearly pining for a boxed ear for birthday. "No Clutter to be Seen" just led me to invest in a lot of storage... "Blonde mink" eh?
villagelife - how do you combine a relaxing break with still having to cook, but beach & nature reserve sound wonderful if a bit windy! Daffodils coming up already?! All best with Kent ballot! Glad someone in the office "gets" chairs.
Broomstick - well done on "aha" moment. (Still waiting for mine.) Culling stationery, eh? Well done!
Skint yet Again - hurrah for strategic leftovers & not having to go out. "heavy, floaty, fat snowflakes" almost sound worth the faff!
mandaguin - book, lie-in & Bambi. Stick at that challenge, even if it does mean lot of hankies...
thefrugalflirter - welcome! I find day old curries & stews taste better, but in a household with teenagers, I don't get to verify this often.
kittikins - great to see you, & cheering on fellow teacher! Hoping all well with you & DD?

    OS pleasures recently
"Ah, decimation properly done!" Yes, one in ten killed to set an example not 90% as poor writers use it wrongly to mean. The odd things that please my menfolk....

Anyone got a good pseudo-Branston chutney recipe? Himself has had a LBM regarding the present intake of the stuff...

Eyeing the curves of the cherry tree - great lines & lots of hopeful tiny buds. I adore cherry blossom.

Nasturtium seeds checked - I must wait another month at least before I plant hope for colourful explosions.

Son awed at the idea that a book can have many prices on the internet & at my talent for finding the cheaper prices. Makes birthday money go further...

The Moon, bright in the night sky. I just smile up at the light. I can refill the windscreen goop without a torch in my teeth.

Son beaming with a baggy shirt draped over a T shirt "this is my style!". Yes, we agreed, the shirt's inside out... (We are So Mean!)

Getting into the office, out of sub zero & wrapped round a pot of Assam. Earl Grey is my everyday office brew but Assam for the very cold days...

Birthday lad suddenly off camping with Explorers in tipis this weekend. Ah. Forecast is for disconcerting quiet.

Our Guy in India - splendid viewing & much enjoyed by all. His rebuilt teeth are a bit unEnglish, being art recreating/restoring nature, but he's a cracking lad & well worth watching.

Returned a borrowed CD reader to it's owner - as it came from a tall cupboard I returned it to the right desk rather than behave like a peeved kitten...

Eavesdropping on grandfather who has had 3 year old grandson over the week whilst womenfolk away on Hen Do. He's back at work for a rest! He'd get more sympathy if he hadn't clearly had Such Fun.

Big hugs to all who need them, happy travels & safe returns to all who venture out/up/away & back, & remember to fill hwb almost on doorstep to ward off pneumonia.
