DD pleased you liked The Secret Life of Bees, even if it was a tearful read. I read it then gave it to my DD some time ago, since you've mentioned it I want to read it again so will have to raid her shelves
BoP pleased to hear Bopsie survived her ordeal
CCP so pleased you're okay after the exploding bottle neck
Rainy-Days I love your #5, it sums up this board perfectly
1, slept in til 8.30am after a very long day yesterday. I wonder why London pavements always seem harder to walk on that the local ones? However the walk from tube to church was good for me and I had company so didn't seem too far.
2. Emptied and reorganised all my files, now only have 6 rather than the previous 8. There's also a sack of shredding for a friends ferrets.
3. Outstanding letters written and ready to post, which means the dining table is clear for the first time in two weeks
4. A lottery win! Might splash out and treat myself to a jar of local honey tomorrow. DGD3 and I share my wins but I've told her if it's ever a big one I'll discuss percentages with her mother first
5. DGD1 moved into her new home yesterday, and got her Border Collie which she found at a rescue. A much deserved new start for all the family

You know there's always one? It's me. I don't like Yorkshire tea at all - it's just too tea - y :rotfl:
But then I drink rooibos so I'm no judge
Greetings from Hong kong, which is a cool 17 degrees and murky as I sit at the hotel window overlooking the harbour
At least there will b no "marking by the pool" posts, ampersand.
Pleasures for last few
The overwhelming generosity of our Singaporean hosts, buying us meals and gifts and taking us out and about
Last Thursday we went on a duck tour of the harbour and colonial area, visited the Amazing Gardens by the Bay, and overlooked Singapore from The dizzying heights of the sky park, which is a boat on top of a building.
An early flight with Singapore airlines to Hong kong. As a nervous flyer, I am never going to be completely comfortable but that was as good as it gets. Free flowing champagne helps :beer:
Another lovely hotel, overlooking the harbour. At least the lounge does.
A hike up Victoria peak with colleagues. Beautiful views of Victoria harbour
A day of marking today - too cold outside though. I really need to catch up before meeting Hong Kong colleagues tomorrow.
I know this is a fab opportunity, and I am grateful - but right now, I would like to go home ...
Have a fab SundayI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. Met a friend for a quick cup of coffee and catch up - she needed to offload onto someone.
2. Went to Quins match - this season I supposed they couldn't win twice in a row. Was a close match which after being 10 points down in the first 15 minutes.
3. Tea made in slow cooker so quick to finish when we got in.
4. Finished my book
5. Applied for tickets for kent big weekend - its a ballot for free tickets for kent attractions - but only for people who live in Kent.0 -
Evening all ....dinner is being cooked so I shall just sit quietly and seethe in my office with the wind blowing a cool breeze (17o here today too, vjsmum ) ...just had a call from other cook type person to say she has fallen off a ladder and hurt herself and can't work tomorrow ...so that will be my day off then! One day I will seriously order a skip to fling the lot of 'em in!
So anyway, back to today , which was my first Sunday off this year. Woke up at silly o'clock but managed to doze off again and woke at 8am which seems very late for me.
Ironed and then took up about 4" of hem on DDs new school dresses which are all pleated and were a nightmare to sew but they are done.
We went out for brunch, I had a salad but brought the leftovers home as it was far too much , DD1 had it for lunch when she came home from work.
It was absolutely pouring with rain this morning, we did have plans to do a road trip but nah .....coffees and cake kind of afternoon. Walked up via library, to local cafe and as we had the dog had to sit outside in the wind and at this point smirry rain.
Bit done in the garden, back porch tidied, office desk is now visible, downstairs all hoovered and OH is making spag Bol for dinner.
We will be cheering on Andy Murray from the sofa.on previous years we've went into the city to watch it on the big screen at Federation Square but too cold and damp! Plus an hour all in to get home and it seems I'm up early in the morning!
Have a happy Sunday0 -
1. Saturday was a wet windy morning so glad I didn't need to go out for anything so pleased to stay indoors
2. heating was on at 7am for 30 mins whilst DS got up and ready to go for police training. Although it was wet outside it was fairly warm indoors for the rest of the day so didn't need the heating on again until evening
3. hoovered upstairs and down, general tidy up
4. the rain stopped and we had some afternoon sun so I went for a walk round the local pond & dropped off some glass at the bottle bank. By gum it was a cold wind !
5. leftovers for lunch - small portion of beef stew in stout and quick tea using chicken breasts from freezer, a couple of wilting green peppers from bottom of fridge and a jar of black bean sauce from store cupboard.

Donkeys!
And they're not for the beach! Left overs lunch, vacuum cleaners everywhere Spring? Coffee, non foam I hope! Better, good ole VJ Proper drinks T T T T T T. No mess, no nonsense, Just proper Tea! Jars of honey. Ours for bacon is 6 years past its worst by dates! Stationary cull, then burning letters. More news on culls later!
5 Now I ask yous. BoP on plaicing his bet, well used to have his money stolen by endownot compnee, and wasted now plays it on Donkeys. I mean pure shire horses! Got Wolfsberg at 7-1 and brillso start to the weekend. And then wasted it on Donkeys! Blessed Hibs! Cart horses all over. waste of me pennies. Instead of being on £30 and heading for another premium bond to waste the winnings on, BoP was veined out and down £2 on the day. So now it is on the Arsenal! Get inn! BoP minds others that there is far better ways to waste your pennies. At the emporium this day, I knows, well BoPsie spent well over £25 on the weekly shop. And wasted the 97 pennies on a treat for Raffles. But the second generation, once removed from sense, shopper was inn. w8rz own dishwasher tablets at £4 for 30, £4.99 for 48, Now 2G emporium punter gets them super balls of pyre at £8 for 20. Sense! Now on day of Frys, as was getting chocolate for BoPsie, saw girl get ten bottles of comfort juice, one that gives its waste away in kindreds, for £34. And that was the start. Then plaice them in the suffrage bin for the poor! No stupid girl, would be better to by a cordial squash and then give £30 direct!
4 Anyhow, BoPsie was rescued yesterday from the Bum Testing Centre. Now as I has said, BoPsie is due again in August 2016, a full nine months before BoP gets his 5 year guarantee Bum Test. Now why is this important.
Mum BoP died from it aged 52!!! Got that! BoP passed the mum BoP point some time last year. And he is still in the control group of 16 who still not had the C.
Now cans you remember what BoP has told you about! Well BoPsie, currently bummed every 18 months, had a polyp removed. Not a problem I hears yous say! Nope. But of the polyp had remained in plaice! And BoPsie aged 47! What would had been in 5 years! Small, insignificant. Not there 18 months back. There yesterday, gone today!
And also that curse the BoPsie is with her BoP and we has no food of carp, except for BoP mega reversion days such as Fryday last, then just think what that foamed drink is doing. never mind them expensive comfort items!
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/polyps-bowel/Pages/Introduction.aspx
3 BoP shall be cooking salmon shortly for tea, with fresh sauce of parsley, lemons, new tatties, mushy peas, not that small waste of space incognisant version based in Leeds either. Proper, prepared ones by BoP, with remnants pud of Xmas and special fresh lumpy custard. Yummy. Now, we had Jelly and ice cream, from w8rz. Raffles has gone mad over it, the bowls are licked to a gleam yours mother would had been proud of for the winddas.
2 day BoP is mainly being ruffled, and is fully furred. No shave Sunday this week, as interview on Wednesday. Arrghe has flocked up a couple! Here hoes, down down dive!
1 When yesterday is over, it over took today.
Beginning of the End, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Life on the Line 1977. That college tour of December 78!! What can I say!0 -
Pleasures for today (so far).
1) A proper lie in! 10am!
2) Cleaned all the paint blotches/bits of stray plaster from sons' room. Took hours! Then put all their furniture back in, changed bunkbeds etc. There may be before and after photos at some point.
3) All tidying and washing up to date.
4) Enjoyed watching Murray match. It did all go wrong, though!
5) Tasty steak sandwiches for tea with mushrooms, tomatoes and blue cheese.
6) Someone from the Conservative party went to the effort to struggle up here in the dark and snow to give me a leaflet. Nice of them to do so and the fire started particularly well. ;-)0 -
VJsmum, I'm enjoying reading your travels, but can relate that a week away from family feels long enough.
1.Fri night in order to “earn” our take away we battled the front room which is chocka, the end result, 1 rubbish bag, 1 recycle bag and 6 big boxes packed full of things about 300 books, dvds videos and stuff all to CS, they had been previously boot faired, had a voucher for 50% off the pizza with free delivery as well.
2.Sat we delivered the above boot load of things to the CS.
3. Plans for the day abandoned after crowds and torrential rain, basically it was all going very wrong
4. We stopped in at a garden centre, I know not mse, but we found an “oh wow”:) item very rare for us it’s a woodpecker metal work thing and in checking when we got home a very very good price so result as well of course.
5. DH found my study book which I had err “mis placed”:D
1-5 Sundays plans where get up pack up the bedroom just doing that would probably take the day but if time left start washing the walls. What actually happened. We slept through the alarm, eventually woken up by a ferret bouncing on the bed. Made a grilled bacon sarnie while marinating stale bread in the dripping for the birds, the woodpecker getting brave and now landing on the peanut feeder right by the house.
Sat and watched “Penelope”, Sat here also thinking I don’t think I have ever been in an Irish pub, I might have to remedy that this year.:o
Seriously wondered about the cost of a “decorator” then laughed it off.:rotfl::o
I have to renew my passport for new work, but wow the price has shot up since I last did it £82! for the pleasure while I know they will pay at some point wow.0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Was icky poorly last night.Managed to survive the rugby match yesterday (Tigers for me, villagelife
), but got home and was promptly ill. Had to cancel friends who were due to come over for supper.
Eventually got up today at noon.
1) However, at least that means I've had two NPDs and today has also been a NSD.
2) Spoken to my very best friend who now lives far away (ok, London!) and we've organised to see each other in May for afternoon tea. Joint birthday treat, if you don't mind!
3) Received my first ever "Simple Things Magazine". Just gorgeous. Need more time though. Hmm, time...
4) Been asked to provide a reference for one of my former trainees. Feel quite proud.
5) Searching through recipe books. Vaguely hoping that the dishes will make themselves. Probably not though...Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Hi all. I've been reading your pleasures all week but struggling to find my own. In a much more positive frame of mind today.
1. Had an excellent observation on Thursday with my year 7s, who said some lovely things in pupil voice.
2. Productive day today, lots of marking done.
3. Homemade chicken curry for tea - delish if I do say so myself.
4. Finished a book yesterday morning (and had a lie-in til 11.30 to do so)
5. Currently watching Bambi (number 5 in the Disney challenge) I haven't seen it since I was tiny and it's lovely. Dreading the imminent trauma though...February Grocery Challenge - £120.63/1500
