    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

    ampersand - I didn't make the trip to Belfast, I'm afraid. :( They would have won if I'd have been there! You'd have spotted me as the slightly obsessed one if I had been there. ;) Well done for making the trip to Scarlets. Well done for the win.

    VJsmum - you can soon go off people you know! ;):D My brother was allowed into Raffles a few years ago for a drink. I think they've just about got over the shock.

    Rainy-Days - I'm SURE you can at least find something. ;)

    Pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) Spoke go a good friend. Sadly, her father is pretty ill but good to catch up anyway.

    2) NPD yesterday :j

    3) DH and I went to the pub last night and DIDN'T take our phones with us. We had to talk to each other all the time. :rotfl: Made us look around and notice how many people were on their devices. Too many.

    4) Reading my book.

    5) Trying to be more efficient with my time isn't working, BUT having written down how I'm wasting my days it's showing me that I do have time. The "I honestly don't know where the time goes" thought has now turned into "I know precisely how I waste my time". *sigh*

    6) Did the "big shop" in record time. Used various vouchers too. :beer:

    7) Chilli con carne is defrosting for supper tonight. Our last portion, I think. :(

    VickyA - I had a financial blitz with Emma Bridgewater on New Years Eve when they had their big sale. I got a beautiful 6 pint jug that was personalised and I was thrilled to get it. I have avowed to cut back radically this year on the EB collection - allot of which is down to this new home and the fact that there is nothing I want. Before we moved house DH and I sat down together and wrote down how much each piece would cost if it had to be replaced and then added up the total. It came to a whopping £4,880.00. Now I know this collection has been going on for some years, but it brought me to my senses and also we have the lot listed in our home insurance and we made specific reference to it with Pickfords when we moved.

    So, thats it for a while now. I may have a bit of a cull again, but by and large I don't want or need anything.
    Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D :beer:

    Fair enough Rainy-Days. When we did our wedding gift list and added up the cost of all the crockery, I had a little weep at the cost. Made me feel ultra guilty, but all the relations were asking what pattern we were "collecting".

    Have done the ironing. What a right royal pain THAT is!

    Oh and I've sorted out the towel cupboard in this sort of way: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/497155246339350305/ Really does work.

    1. Double sleepover with DD (i.e. she was invited on Friday and rocked up in the middle of the night last night :) )

    2. Amazing lunch at a beautiful restaurant today for.....

    3. Mummykins' birthday :)

    4. She loved the presents we chose for her and we all enjoyed playing apppletters :)

    5. Have got a week and a bit's worth of literacy planned...just maths to go, phew!

    6. Was feeling very sore on Friday due to an unexplained trapped nerve or something but thankfully cuddles, a go on a massage mat and lots of sleep helped me.

    7. Am part of a fab literacy workshop/study thing at school with an inspiring lady from my council. Have put some of her ideas into practice and despite only meeting her on Wednesday, reaped good results by Friday :):)

    8. DD has been selected to go to a debating workshop at the House of P'ment with her school. We're all very excited!

    9. All the clothes I ordered online are going to go back - not a pleasure to not like them, but it will be a pleasure to get the money back.....

    10. Free newspaper yesterday, the art cupboard at school will so appreciate it!

    3. Thankful for a working washing machine - had to catch up on lots of washing today!
    4. Haggis, neeps and tatties to honour the bard - and was very delicious (small portion put aside for me for work lunch too!!)

    Happy Australia Day mhags

    1. Woke up to beautiful yt, a very hard frost but that soon melted
    2. Turned the heating off when I went out at 10am, got back at 2pm and the house was still toasty warm. Didn't turn it on again til 8pm
    3. Spent the afternoon cleaning the house which kept me warm
    4. DNeighbour's OH offered to take some bits of wood to the tip for me as they're too big to go in my car
    5. The snowdrops are out, the daffys are all showing, covering the flower bed (I only have one :D) and the winter flowering plants are still in full bloom. I recently read somewhere that 'winter flowering pansies' are just pansies we plant in the winter, it's a misnomer which brings more trade for the garden centres. Don't know if that's true but my pansies seem to last the year round.

    Sweet dreams :)

    Didn't think I'd post today, but kk's #7, GLORIOUS use of 'inspiring',[ rather than the grossly incorrect, other '-ational'......LOATHE LOATHE LOATHE, 'COS IT'S WRONG WRONG WRONG] = osp 1>∞ for & on any day.
    Must be because our kk's a teacher, bop)))

    - during which:
    1. Carboot in early pre-6h dark, to hand Charlie Hebdo to M [post passim]. He was moved, humbled, grateful - to do with the why, the occasion, not an & thing. We are all together on this. Charb, Tignous, Cabu, Wolinski - &'s methuselah memory doesn't do you any good now, but it lives as long as & does.

    2. ..and L was there again too, 2nd time @Trump. L saw hugging going on and intense talk, said 'What are you doing with that woman? Put her down.' Much more long chat and mutuals and extension. All good.

    3. Bitter cold, although daybreak, when it came, was beautiful. Thankyou for flicking yellow thing On switch bop. Should we expect Invoice any time soon?

    4. Timing early as benefice Communion not in & village today. Again so good and priest in training, A[mum of 3, ex-Banker/business high-flier, fantastic]shared service with our Vic. Well done A, no-one wants to lose her and she's been heavied back for Master's so MUST stay in benefice at least another year:-) Was dashing off after to be rugby Mum[2 sons]. & left England World Cup rugby flag[acquired in usual hunt'n'gather]through their door. No Silent Sidelines Sunday here, I fear:-)

    Subsidiary: A had left son[9] doing diary/English homework before Communion, then Rugby. Had to answer ? about Life Lessons from Life Pleasures[coincidence!]
    His written answer: 'I like playing rugby because today I will definitely learn to win with dignity, which is a pleasure because losing with dignity, which I had to learn last week was very hard.' A. has no idea where this has come from:-).

    5. ...as proven by & and a good number this arvo:

    Half-time 33-0. Fulltime 40-31 - squeaky. Talk about A Match of Two Halves...
    Should have been doing any number of other things, but didn't and haven't. It's been very much a Charlie Hebdo - copies>peeps day.
    Catharsis called, most of all for what I'll number

    6. [which was between 4 and 5.]
    Via &squat, went to newly-widowed neighbour, picking moment of no other callers. It was right. Weeping, laughter, hugs, talk, Communion in true sense. Had bought 1st dozen of Vicar's eggs from girls just coming back into lay...just the right something. So glad, all over again, so glad.
    ~~~
    Au lit, catharsis has also meant
    7. Engrenages/Spiral catch-up eps. 5+6 tonight.
    Still love it, despite all defects/dispassionate critiques. Twists and turns in character plotting, especially ce soir. Literal trans: 'gears' much more suitable, so much clashing and engaging and jumping out of and synchro-mesh mishmash....
    Does no-one else watch it?
    sparrer/mhags - sorry, forgot Australia Day[as befits all good kiwis with tongue stuck in beaky cheek] Wishing you a lovely one today.
    Also realised Rabbie too late for Aberdonian Aunt in enzed.
    Also had no &squat hour for birdwatch. Will do it in a few hours - would this be wrong? Nothing super-tilt is likely to throw data out of kilter. What do you think, please? pk? [ and did your woodpecker come?]
    Good evening everyone :hello:
    Pleasures for today:
    1) Spoke to my mum on the phone. She's fine, but was complaining about my dad being asleep in front of Coronation Street. Heaven help anyone who tries to change the channel though - he wakes up immediately and complains! :D
    2) DH topped up the washer bottle in my car. I'm going on a course tomorrow in Walsall - approximately a 75 mile journey there. Need to ensure I can see through the windscreen. :) Petrol topped up and Percy Pigs bought. ;) Got to leave mega-early to arrive in time for the start of the course, taking into consideration morning traffic - hence I'm organised, for once!
    3) To do list is being rattled through! :beer:
    4) Lovely new cards I ordered have arrived. Don't want to give them to anyone, they're too nice!
    5) Finished off a bottle of wine. Mmmm, lovely!
  • Trying to perk myself up by focusing on the pleasures.
    1. Returned to our DIY Spanish course tonight. It's getting tricky already!
    2. Healthy eating regime (for mind not body) has begun. I hate it but I do feel better.
    3. Reading Gillespie and I, which is excellent.
    4. Planned my observation lesson for Thursday, should be a success as my kids are eager to please.
    5. Know what I'm doing for the rest of the week, just need to do the actual planning before work tomorrow.
