    Match abandoned.

With BoPsie giving BoP a good tanning, Raffles, being viewed by Singapore Sling VJSMAM, has invaded the pitch. Although, the electronic version records positions, and the bar is empty, it seems Raffles is snug for the night.

    Wobbleades have been sourced.

DfV. Pants are put on in the morning. Sometimes there is a delay before using the waterless urinal. It saves 100,000 litres of water a year!

CCP - so good to see you back here again! :j :j

Frith - was it completely wrong that I nearly spat my tea out when I read the story of the supply teacher? :rotfl:

I survived the journey to the course. Took an hour longer to get there than it should have done. Urgh! Thankfully the journey home was a whole lot better. Phew! :)

    Pleasures for today:

    1) NSD - lunch provided on the course and plenty of free drinks!

    2) Have written an old fashioned letter to a friend. I hope she appreciates it. There's nothing that I like more than receiving a hand written note. :)

    3) Been invited by a new acquaintance to meet up for lunch before the match on Saturday with her & her friends. Looking forward to it. She's a lovely person and ticks off (hopefully) two of my new years resolutions ie: Make new friends and Have more fun.

    4) Chicken stir fry for supper. Healthy and doesn't take much prep! Always a pleasure. :D

    5) Entered a competition to win a holiday in a luxury holiday cottage. Fingers crossed for a win! :D

    1. Up early and stripped bed and put washing on.

    2. Finally got said washing out on line for a few hours and got it nearly all dry!

    3. Sunshine - nuff said how I love that burning globe of mass in the universe beaming down on us :)

    4. Sorted garage out - well half sorted it but it looks loads better.

    5. Sat and watched a pre-recorded Peak Practice at supper arhh the nostalgia :D

Hi CCP I remember you and I only ventured back in Sunday after quite a while away lovely to see you back ((hugs))

....and with a wonderful win, she's back:-) Well done ccp!

    1. npd/nsd.

    2. A good, secure Andy victory/commentary. Berdych with AM's former coach on board may be different matter. Hope not.

    3. Kate Atkinson's 'Life after Life' - done and dusted. Rather a lot of too much fuss about...imho, despite pleasurable turns of sentence in a writing exercise-y way. & also discerns a trou, re: dark character into which an eventual book will surely[how-many-books deal this time?]delve. Another Jackson Brodie would please:-) But & ain't fan of latter works Mantel-ian either. Wolf Hall et al....not at all, unfinishable, barely startable. Fellow Uni friend agrees. Back in R's lifetime, we enjoyed her early stuff and sought it out.

    4. Fresh hwb in bed. Joining it imminently.

    5. Current oranges are extra lovely - Mr T: 6 for 76p. & consumes one morning and night, plus virtuous chew of piece of peel. Something more from grandmother.

    1) invited to friend's book club next tuesday. secret life of bees. blow me down if they didn't have said book for a squid on 2nd hand book table in hospital foyer.
    2) lunch with gbf. unusually we went to level 5 cos i had stuff that needed microwaving and didn't have time to do it before meeting him. met his boss there, then his friend's daughter who's a physio came over to say hello too - met her at die meistersinger
    3) we are getting the big empty room to teach :j i suggested it a while back as a possible solution to teaching accommodation crisis. don't know if they remember it was me suggested it but not bothered, was a good point in an otherwise frustrating day work-wise
    4) my sitting room. it's in a bit of a need of a decoration, but i do like it. above teh fireplace we have xoh's dad's oar from when he rowed for christs's college cambridge in 1953, and xoh's wound red xmas lights round it. i love red and i love xmas lights :D i would also still love cambridge but they put us out of the tin cup :rotfl:

judi - well done being organised for wedding trip! Good times in Scotland with family & Reverend Mother (as in vows or family speak?!) Still frankly intrigued by Sunday Brunch but guess L&R? 2 weeks in November without breaking bank? Eng Heritage or Nat Trust membership on tesco or nectar points & mop up the really ancient architecture & associated teashops?
    .

DfV yes wedding trip great and Reverend mother is my mother who's a Reverend! (an Older vicar of Dibley!) - and yes Sunday Brunch is L&R but was decadently enjoyed with coffee in bed last weekend!
2 weeks in November need to start in Scotland for a family party - so maybe a few days in Glasgow then back down to the North of England so I can check in on my kids and spend a few days being mum as well as party animal - vsiting places closer to home (Liverpool, Chester, Manchester). Then thinking London (cheaply of course) with street food and browsing in Camden market and people watching in Covent Garden - my friend is a cross between a Glaswegian and a South Florida Beach bum! - but tea shops and some heritage will go down well as she is missing home comforts (her current wish list involves square sliced sausage, plain bread and battered black pudding supper!) - I am excited already!!!

    So my 5 for today:

    1. Made home made lasagne (normally only kept for weekends due to faffy nature of the making!) before work - so Rev Mother could just pop in oven! Got enough for at least 3 more portions for the freezer too!
    2. NSD - first for a while so :j
    3. Amazed at the strength of human spirit today - from the commemoration of the Holocaust and the positive life stories that have come out of that (as well as remembering those who did not survive!) and people I have met in work today - some people just amazing me and make me feel blessed!
    4. Stole the last of the posh bicccies (shh don't tell the kids!!!)
    5. Met a lovely volunteer who reminded me that I need to embrace my creative side and this got me thinking about how to do this

& sorry your are feeling fidgety - hope it passes quickly or you work out why

I shall try and post some pleasures...go for a medium sized post rather than an epic.....just incase!

Just been to local shops with DD1. We returned books to library, got some new keys cut for work, posted a get well card to a friend back home, had some lunch at lovely, local cafe. Bought some sunflowers at florist and then broke a ghastly ornament in salvos. Would have paid but didn't have to......phew!

Nice chats with friend on phone yesterday and then again this morning as I needed a vent!

Pleasantly cooler weather. I actually needed a cardigan yesterday.

Nice dog walks .......walking off some frustrations of the work variety.

    Catching up on UK telly.

So yesterday OH had hospital which was a bit of a disaster from start to finish , unfriendly nurse ( rude even) not listening, not wearing gloves, I actually had to ask her to please wear gloves!, causing OH pain and discomfort and him almost passing out, being 2 hours late to start procedure so we were there for 5 hours not 3...... I shall add nice friendly nurse from last time came over and said hello and seemed genuinely concerned. We sat and blethered for 5 hours instead of just 3. He had numerous cups of tea and I ate his biscuits!

Texts from MC yesterday that ended up quite unfriendly because i hadn't replied , text from supposed new staff member, telling me she was pregnant, discussed role with her and then a text from her this morning to say she wouldn't take the job.....so I then had to try and cover next 3 days shifts. Anyway, I could quite happily fling them all in a skip! It's my blooming days off!!

So I shall keep smiling, look on the bright side of life and always onwards and upwards!

CCP well done on your iPad win

I should add some other pleasures :

Treated to dinner at Chinese dumpling house by Chinese friends..... I did try everything but just didn't like everything.

Australia Day, I worked and also made lamingtons.

The ironing fairy was back again! All up to date :)

Walking by someone's garden who had a bird table with loads of lorikeets feeding at it. They are the brightest green, blue and red colour.

Galahs on the cricket oval.....Haggis would love to try and catch one.
  • :o been a very long time since I posted in here!

Ill, drained and exhausted by life and need to sort my head out by reminding myself of the small things that bring great pleasure. Been prescribed 'mindfulness' by the doc and I find this thread a great way to practise it!

    Here are some recent pleasures;

    1. Pharmacy has b*ggered up medication delivery meaning no tablets for two days  dizzy when upright so by proxy I have to stay laid down and can therefore enjoy reading the forums guilt free!

    2. Easy already prepared homemade pie for tea.

    3. Ian the dog snoring. Find the sound of his rhythmic breathing so relaxing (is that odd?)

    4. Really looking forward to beans on toast for lunch. Plain and simple is sometimes the most indulgent thing!

    5. Reconnecting with the OS lot, I've missed being part of something.

You knew that BoP would start by harassing absent posters. Well, you know the rules. While you were worrying about other incidentals and other things about furry bits, BoP has not shaved! So think if that rubbed your back, got it? Oh, and the pills! Don't I know it. Jenny sends a :heartpuls Library books, Weddings, 5 people to meet in heaven. BoP has no chance, I'm going where there is brimstone and fire. Another free lunch!

5 Last nights game of live Backgammon had to be abandoned, just when BoPsie was on a roll of the electronic dice and nicely in the lead on the lectronic magnetic bored, where if rules or a reset is required, prevents the pips from moving, was rudely interrupted, while a wobbleade was pored by Raffles, currently under observation in Singapore by VJsMam.

4 While attempting to play backgammon, with BoPsie well in the lead, as she infused wobbleades into BoP, we listened to the mighty mariners via the virtues of the wireless internet phone connection. UTM and they won.

3 Another interview tomorrow, is an age thing! S Wales again, snow boots found and blizzard conditions. Here we go.

2 Day BoP has managed to get his pants on correctly and there is no flapping around.

1 Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else!
