Appy burf dee for yesterdee, VJsmum!

    Yesterday's pleasures:

    1) A box of my favourite flapjack cookies from the colleague whose coat I rescued earlier in the week, with a note saying "thank you for your kindness". :o

    2) Short work day as we had our team Christmas meal at lunchtime.

    3) Most unusually, got something useful - a mini cheese / nutmeg grater - in my cracker, rather than the plastic tat you usually get.

    4) My quiz went down very well.

    5) Went out to my usual pub quiz in the evening and came home with a bottle of wine from the quiz and a bag full of jars of HM chutney and jam from a friend who got a bit carried away with preserving this year!

    And for today:

    1) I left my car at work yesterday so had to get the bus in this morning but, as most of the local schools have now broken up, it got there in about half the time it usually takes.

    2) Only a few people in the office today, so it was nice and quiet for once (and there was hardly anyone around to see when I somehow tipped over my chair and ended up on the floor with it on top of me. And that's without any alcohol! :o:o:o).

    3) A chat with a nice customer services gentleman about a delivery of perishable goods that was dumped in the main building rather than being delivered to my flat, which ended with him concluding "our delivery driver's an idiot. Sorry". :rotfl:

    4) Bought Ms Fussy Puss (who has been refusing to eat again) some of the food Moggett always liked when he was off his meals, and Isis likes it just as much, clearing a whole bowl-full within a few minutes.

    5) Pizza night tonight, as usual on Friday, but I've been slightly good and bought an A$da one rather than getting a takeaway. :A
Back after a very long break!

A belated happy birthday to VJsmum :bdaycake:

PK - yay for being a free woman! :j :j

Thankfully it's the end of term for me. Yesterday was "interesting" to say the least when a child in my class had a meltdown. Called the headteacher (just because another voice is needed, mine is almost wallpaper!) who thinks I need a medal because I'm so patient! Not worthwhile getting worked up as it just causes more stress.

Last night was the school carol concert in the village church & followed by the staff "do". The vicar, who is notoriously erm a little child unfriendly, pulled out all the stops and was fantastic, gushed over the hard work we all did and how amazing we all are. We were tripping over him at the end, thanking him profusely for being so nice.

    So, the pleasures:

    1) Not cooking last night because of the staff Christmas do!

    2) Watched Frozen for the first time today. Gave the children in two classes the option of watching Frozen or Wallace & Gromit... No one (not even the boys!) wanted to watch Wallace & Gromit!

    3) FaceTime chat with my cousin who lives in Canada. Received a present from her today too. So good to connect so easily with people "across the miles".

    4) Pay day! This also means, move my money around and put into "pots" (ie noted on my spreadsheet).

    5) Cards looking lovely around the house. We're lucky to know so many people. Sending virtual cards to everyone on here!
    Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared

Lots of catching up to do but just pleased to be back, with a swish new laptop and tablet, a joint offer so impossible to refuse. DGS will look at the old one when he's back at work after the break, may just need a new fan but it's lasted many years so about time it was put out to grass.

    1. The new laptop, and the tablet which will be so much lighter to take on holiday. It also has Kindle which reduces the weight of carrying books with me - I'll be able to pack so many more clothes!
    2. I spent the most emotional afternoon with two lovely friends yesterday. One was sitting beside me in tears and soaking tissue after tissue, the other sitting the other side of me gripping my arm so hard in panic she was digging her nails in. Meanwhile I was gasping, hand over mouth and from time to time letting out an 'Oh no!'. If you haven't seen it yet I recommend taking plenty of tissues and be prepared for some tense scenes if you go to see Paddington!
    3. Wednesday evening's buffet in the company of 30 guests was a success, a quiz in which my group came second (CCP would have been proud of us ;) ) and plenty of chat over good food. My pot of chilli disappeared before anything else which was very satisfying.
    4. An at home day today, lots of washing, cleaning and tidying done, and the last few bits wrapped up ready to take to the DGC next week.
    5. Yellow thing has been lovely today, still very cold in the garden but nice to see from inside. It brought the squirrel out to tease the cats by sitting on the very highest, thinnest branch if the tree in the orchard :D

    Sweet dreams :)

Bagpuss, I'll type the master list into my computer and pm it to you, might have to be sometime over the weekend. I need to update it a bit (and get it computerised) so you'll be doing me a favour because it's a job I've need to do in a while!

    Five pleasures for Friday:

    1. Went and got a couple more pallets from the builders merchants for stacking the logs to be delivered next week. Lovely man got a forklift truck out to collect them and drove them all across the yard to the boot of the car then loaded them for me. :)

    2. Nice chat with my mum on the phone - she and my dad had been on an adventure into town and felt much better for it.

    3. DS1 made a very good lentil soup for supper.

    4. Took our gas and electricity meter readings which I hadn't done since we moved in. :o It looks as if we are using less gas than expected which is excellent and electricity is more or less what I thought it would be. Happy with that.:)

    5. Enjoying having the little fairy lights on in the windows in the evenings.

    Sweet dreams

Hello from pleasantly warm and sunny Melbourne, it's been a nice day here, 26o at 6pm is just about right ! ( shall probably moan tomorrow when it's in the 30's)

I've had a much better day than yesterday so that's probably my first pleasure.kept busy enough at work but not madly so and had no cause to bite my tongue today which was another bonus!

DD2 has discovered her cheating love rat boyfriend has been 2 timing her! She's been very matter of fact about it today ( she works with me on a Saturday ) .....the puppy didn't like him and always growled at him....hmmmm.....I think she should trust her dog more than boyfriend! First and very young love! The pleasure being she feels comfortable to talk to me.

OH and pup came for a visit again today :) and then OH came along on train and then we went home in my car.

Pup has vomited 2 socks ! Yeah ! Well that's the 2 we knew about! He's currently enjoying a new rawhide bone....keeps him out if mischief.

Shared a bowl of wedges with OH at our favourite cafe and then did grocery shopping....lots of daft, silly , crazy drivers about !

Had a voucher for 50% off 'gold' range ,...think t3sco finest type food. Which in turn already had 25% discount on it, so got some nice treaty foods for not very much cash which is good!

Now, home and I'm putting my feet up right now! I need to wrap a few things and I am done!

I have 2 days off work and then just 1.5 to work and then off for Christmas and Boxing Day,it's still rather odd having a sunny summery Christmas but I'm looking forward to it here this year...would be better if we had family and friends around us but we don't do just my family of 5 and thankful that we a all here together.

Better go and put shopping way , have a lovely Saturday.

Finding it hard to get the time to post regulary. Its just been busy with christmas stuff and both boys home from uni which disrupts any sort of routine.

    1. Had secret santa at work yesterday and received a lovely present - probably more than the £10 limit. The person who received mine seemed pleased.

    2. The chocolate/popcorn I took in for lunch went down well.

    3. DS1 cooking tea the other night as my back felt bad again. He avoids cooking like the plague normally.

    4. Enjoying seeing the christmas lights up everywhere - there is someone in the next village who is a lighting engineer for tv so his house looks superb at this time of year.

    5. Been eating meals from the freezer to save money before the christmas shop.

Ok, so it is PANIC SATURDAY so here is some advice from BoP on how to not worry about it.

5 If yous not got BoP's Christmas card, do not worry. I ain't, as I has no received yours either. Purchase your cards direct from the charity, remember emporiums steal millions from punters and donate peanuts.

4 Don't buy a lottery scratch card this day, BoP has the winner and has £30 to take the night away with BoPsie tomorrow. Save your losses.
Edit: Just checked me bookie, and me teams won.
More pennies, got to be a big can of that red paint tomorrow evening!

Special notice to readers. Following BoP's advice can lead to serious ... I suggest that you always carry turps!

3 Put the sprouts on, they'll be done come Boxing Day.

2 BoP's snorkers are being grilled. Yummy.

1 Raffles has custodionship of BoPsie's slippers. Her feet are still attached.
  • Pm received broomstick.
Thank you so very much that's brilliant!

    My pleasures for Saturday.

    1. Broomsticks list, gonna put me on the straight and narrow :)
    2. Waking up to realise I had no reason to leap out of bed, snuggled down for an extended snooze.
    3. All presents wrapped including Santa's. Quite an achievement as I am normally still wrapping on x mas eve.
    4. Snuggled under blankie watching cbeebies panto with my munchkins.
    5. Off to best friends tomorrow for Christmas tea :).

Keep warm (except mhags lol) and safe xxx
