    Afternoon all,

am early today as i feel so tired i dont know if i will make it much past kids bed time!! :p

Dh has gone to Bristol without us. He is staying with his sister so out drinking tonight and tomorrow night with them! Kids ok as I got a few gardening bits in asda today so we will do the veg patch tomorrow. And dh has promised to pick up a bag (actually 3 but ssshhhh, dont tell him, cant refuse once there!!) of fluffy and sparkly wool and stuff that my mum is giving me!! :T

    Anyway, heres mine!

1 Got a few gardening bits in asda on offer

2 Scrubbed patio with bleach so kids can play outside even if we dont do garden

    3 Cleaned the kitchen

4 Had a phone call a while back from one of those agencies that want to use government legislation to reduce my debt, anyway the woman was very rude to me when i said it was my debt and i will pay it back and i have been fuming about it since, BUT they just phoned so I had a major rant at the poor bloke about her and i feel so much better! Worth the wait!!! :p

5 Fakeout night so pizza (bread with toms and cheese on top!!!) and a film then will just do a bit of crochet whilst catching up on my v+ recorded stuff before falling asleep in front of the tv!!! :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a good evening.

    Hi all

Very very quickly as I am rushing off to a quiz night with the family.

Mixed bag of pleasures from the last few days:

1 - Baby born, difficult birth, ended up in forceps but at least mum and baby are well

2 - She did not have a c-section, which I think is making her feel a bit better about the non-entirely-natural birth she had.

3 - I am no longer on call!

4 - All the messages of kindness and support I have received from friend, family and a few colleagues (I am keeping my distances from most) about leaving my job.

5 - Satisfied that I am making the right choices in my life and losing the dreaded fear of poverty which used to keep me nailed to crap jobs in the past.

6 - Curry lunch with my boss and my friend/colleague who is supporting me through the debriefing (read: whinging!) procedure and actually being paid for this time, as it was a work lunch.

7 - Tonight we are going to a quiz night, can't wait.

Got to dash but before I go:

Bellaquidsin: Thanks for the details about your growing veg - I am going to plant out now that the weather has warmed a bit

    house elf
    good luck with job-hunting!

    MrLahey
    - congrats on your making it to the final

Bye all and catch up in more details soon xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina haven't been around for a while so not sure who the baby'sis but congratulations on having a new little person in your life!!

    My 5 for today -

    1) Waking up and realising it is Friday so nearly the weekend - hurrah!

    2) Having positive feedback at work from some recent qualification submissions.

    3) Being told by one of my students that she put my name down as someone she admires in a recent piece of work they did.

    4) Finding out that one of my other students passed his Pre-joining fitness test for the Royal Marines.

    5) Knowing that OH will be home for the next 4 weekends as it's RMR easter leave :j

Very chuffed that none of my 5 include food (for once!) and that 3 are from work as I have been finding things hard there for a few months and now they seem to be getting gradually better.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend - I am now looking forward to being taken out by OH tonigh, going for a lovely long walk tomorrow and going to view some labrador puppies on Sunday!!! :)

    Evening all.

Please bear with me as I'm feeling a bit :( today - the weather's been miserable all day and the forecast for the weekend is more miserableness, my beautiful daffodils now look like they've been sat on by an elephant, I've discovered that the National Trust property I hoped to visit tomorrow is closed on Saturdays, and the repairs to my car (although obviously very necessary) mean that I am £142 worse off than I was a couple of hours ago.

Hey ho, let's try and find some pleasures:

    1) Waking up this morning to the sound of the coastal foghorn. It's such an evocative, "I'm by the seaside now" sort of a noise, although it does provide an indication, even before the curtains are open, that the weather outside is likely to be nasty.

    2) The compost I ordered earlier in the week turned up first thing this morning, so, weather permitting, I can plant some seeds this weekend.

    3) The bloke in front of me in a queue at lunchtime was buying a squeaky toy chicken for his dog (or at least I hope it was for the dog!), and, every time he moved it, it squeaked. People all around were searching for the source of the squeaking noise, while he and I creased up with laughter. :rotfl:

    4) The office was suffering from a severe bout of Friday-itis today, so no-one objected when I spent a chunk of my afternoon looking for somewhere else to go tomorrow. I think I've found a definite possibility, although I might reconsider if it's raining as hard tomorrow morning as it has been today.

    5) Some kindly soul rescued a platter of unwanted cakes from a senior staff meeting, so I finished off my afternoon with a chunk of lemon and almond polenta cake. It wasn't quite as nice as my HM version, but the 'free' aspect added wonderfully to its flavour. ;)

    6) I treated myself to some daffs that were BOGOF in the supermarket, to partially make up for the poor squashed ones in the garden.

Six pleasures isn't bad, is it? :)

Caterina - good luck at the quiz tonight, and I hope you sleep well now you're not on call anymore.

niksyg - you're getting a puppy? Oh, I'm so jealous - hope you find a good one on Sunday.
Back after a very long break!

ACEY good luck with the nerve testing next week, you're amazing and you put me to shame

    1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
    2) cuddles from dd this morning
    3) sponsoring two colleagues for "The Shirt of Hurt" Bristol City vs Bristol Rovers
    4) working out my response to a colleague's comment "you sit at a desk all day, you don't know what it's like being on the road...". Remember that self-centred arrogant pr!cks don’t stop being pr!cks merely because you’ve mastered the force. I'm looking forward to wiping the floor with him next week.
    5) finding that I might be qualified for another role in my company will be following that up next week...
    6) looking foward to Rufus Hound on Sport Relief tonight
    7) hearing that dp passed his OU course!

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. Necessary shopping done and out of the way, spent very little as Mr. S has sent me a voucher for £12 off a £60 shop. Don't usually spend this much but I intend to have a bumper shop next week.

    2. No baking today as running down freezers so they can be cleaned out ready for bumper shop next week - hence no backache.

    3. Went to garden centre to order soil for raised beds.

    4. Found a skirt and some tops I liked all less than RRP. Think this might be a bit of a con, as it was new stock (we were in there on Monday and it wasn't there then) but the price suited my purse so I now have a boost to my summer wardrobe.

    5. Treating ourselves to a pot of tea and a bakewell slice between us in the garden centre cafe.

    Bella.

I wish I could find a blushing smiley icon!

Went to the QE (Birmingham) today. The first half hour went quite well, with little pads stuck all over my arm, felt tip pen lines drawn and electric shocks sent down all the different nerves. Unfortunately, because of the way my arm is mangled, some of the electric shocks couldn't go down my arm but sort of bounced back so I got pains across my chest and my other arm and leg jolted!

Then.... despite being the LEAST squeamish person in the world, the rather nice doctor started with the needley bits. I was doing OK until it got to the needle-in-the-nerve-in-the-base-of-the-thumb time and the pain was excruciating! He told me to wiggle my fingers to see if the graph thing on the screen went up and down and it felt like the needle was going THROUGH my thumb and I just went _pale_ and passed out!

Anyway, 1) for today is that the nerves are not marvellous but didn't score badly enough to worry the man. He says they are "irritated" by the random bone fragments pressing on them, but not actually damaged much.

    2) I think another pleasure for today is driving to and from Birmingham not having the slightest clue where I was going, finding the car park and finding the right department in time!

    3) Phoned my sister whilst in half a faint in the hospital canteen (it took me nearly an hour to feel OK again!) and she said she would come round tonight with fish and chips, which she did. :j

    4) Spoke to the solicitor and it is all go for the contact centre tomorrow. My mum is coming with me to keep me company after I drop the boys off. Unfortunately the ex will do the usual weeping and wailing and telling the boys how evil I am. I am used to this but it often makes mum have a little cry (when she is in the front of my car and the boys are in the back and can't see her). Rather brave of her to come with me!

    5) Looking forward to sitting quietly on the sofa watching Sports Relief with a cup of tea and slice of cake.

Hope everyone else has had a good day and that we all have a productive weekend.

House elf - would have waved to you if I'd read your message earlier! I did go past the Women's Hospital. In fact, I think I know Edgebaston from all sides now, goodness knows how many wrong turns I took!

    Evening,

Girlysquare - I know what you mean about collegues out on the road, I have dealt with a few of these this week as well.
Acey - Good luck for tomorrow and I think anyone would have felt faint with what you went through today.

    Mine for today:
    1. Toast for breakfast, done in the new toaster no longer takes 10 minutes using my rubbish grill
    2. YS beef joint bought in Mr.W will do for Sunday lunch
    3. Lift home from work tonight which was very welcome as the weather was miserable.
    4. Getting statement for our bills account today and it looking much healthier than expected especially as the boiler repairs had come out of it as well.
    5. Lovely beef casserole with yorkshire pudding and mash for dinner all washed down with a glass of red wine. Plus knowing I am still using the contents of the freezer and probably still have enough in there to do most of next weeks dinners.

    Have a good evening
