    Pleasures for today:

    1) A bit of a lie in.

    2) Toast for breakfast.

    3) Smaller son and I had lunch out.

    4) Phone calls from my brother and school friend.

    5) Cheating tea then cherry pie and custard.

    6) Did nothing all evening except watch television in front of the stove and bigger son lit that for me!

    7) And had the "missing link" in mum's family tree confirmed so have gone back another 200 years!

Still some interesting behaviour here. Bigger son scootered to his father's today (about 5 miles). I then received varying messages (for messages, read demands) about bikes and collection times. I drove over to get bigger son and he circled my car shouting through the windows. :-/ To be fair, even the ex husband looked bemused. Various threats and strange remarks were shouted at me. Eventually smaller son said "Just drive away" so I did. The final shouting was "I'm going to stay here with the parent who cares about me". Ex husband looked a bit stunned and embarrassed.

Anyway, I left bigger son a message on the table and took smaller son out for lunch. Obviously bigger son came home, saw my car gone and panicked. Didn't read the note. Phoned me and (I later realised) my phone has had no reception for 2 days because 15 messages from different people came through at once later in the day! So he didn't know where I was, couldn't contact me etc. Finally the ex husband spoke to smaller son and there was a lot of apologising and bigger son was returned. He's been very quiet since then ;-)

and 8) Just had smaller son appear at the foot of the stairs to tell me he had stayed awake to eat his first Advent calendar chocolate!! The cheekiness of eating it and the funniness of coming to tell me had me in stitches so he kept laughing because I was until we could hardly speak. :-)

    Thanks for all yours.
PK, TG your Dad OK, tracker a great idea. When I was doing my degree about 8 years ago, our lecturer's father, who lived in Spain, went walkabout and was found in France. She had to deal with it over the phone during one of our sessions, one of our number, who was a counsellor, calmed her down and made some great suggestions so that all was well.
Frith, goodness. Hope BS has taken some lessons from today. Teenagers...
BOP, I would love to go and see Paddington, wonder if I can persuade Dr C to take me... I loved your photos but particularly the bird close up.
Mhags, hope pup is still ok, perhaps his tummy juices are busy dissolving the blankie...

    1. I have nearly £140 of products on the way to test that I have to buy regularly, in a variety of sizes. This will save me a lot of money over Christmas.

    2. Pics of friend's new little grand-daughter, looking gorgeous.

    3. Dr C. managed to avoid traffic hell on the way down to his guitar masterclass with Guthrie Govan (Guitar maestro) and was thrilled to chat to Guthrie for a little while. He has been to masterclasses before and gets a lot from them, also gets to socialise afterwards with a curry.

    4. Trike is running like a dream still, I (cough) mildly raced some young lads on (push!) scooters today and would have won if the little expletives hadn't dived in front to cut me up, lol. TG for good brakes. They were quite keen on a rematch, but I had to explain that shopping, not racing was really the purpose of my outing... :D

    5. Found a good recipe to imaginatively use some green lentils that have been staring at me every time I open the cupboard. A friend passed them on, unloved. They aren't Puy, just bog-standard green. Will report back on this recipe, which is five starred on the Good Food website.

    6. I can now play my Christmas music, according to my self imposed rules. I own a massive pack of CDs tbh, so I need to start fairly early, I used to get at least one or two new ones each year, and usually more, for about the last fifteen years or so. I shall try not to eat the Christmas foods, though I longed to buy and try the Specially Selected mince pies after all the hoo-ha about them.

    7. I have my first-ever 'proper' Christmas jumper en-route. I have various Fair-Isley things but this one is properly Christmas and features leaping reindeer. At £3.99 plus postage it was not to be said no to.

    8. From the same online discounter, I have ordered a Despicable Me blanket for Dr C. It won't do much to cover his 6' 5'' frame in bed but I know he will like it.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Come on you lot, get scribbling!

McC just take the old buffer to town and ... Missing link, thinks ... Rubs fur! Parents for Christmas, wrapped! Fresh bread, but surely must be better than T. Now BoP does yeast beast like, the only drink that should foam. Pinch of sugar. Warm water add yeast and foam away.

5 Just back from the dump. Dumped loads, all scratched and dented, plugs removed and screens cracked. Gone. Then ...

4 Had big burger, with fries! But the most awful veg you ever can see. Was invented by God to stop people in their tracks. gherkins. Should be confined like the Dodo. Gone forever.

3 Last night, just what can BoP say. Obviously if your under 45, the story could be a bit much to handle, but it was excellent. Better than any carp available on the box of self ingratiating oggle, and absolutely nothing like the carp review carried out by Mr Norman's replacement on Film '79. An story contained in itself, completely updated to today.

2 Morrow we is off to shoot some seals. Big Seals, with whiskers and fur, just like your BoP. More news later, but no posting tomorrow as shall be finishing off with proper food, in Market Plaice, Cleethorpes at the home of Fish and Chips, Steel's Corner House. Ice Cream Jelly dessert will also be demolished. Got it? Not from the van!

1 We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival wc

    Emergency Edit
Second Interview. Get inn. Pops corks and ...

Now what was that employment mistake I made recently!

    Evening

PK - Glad your DF was found safely must have been such a worry. Please can you let me know where you got the tracker from as it may be a good idea for my DM in the future.
DD - Well done to your DD on her job :j

Pleasures the last couple of days,
    1. Bought a new phone and wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Mine had an accident, I forgot it was in the back pocket of my jeans when I visited the little girls room. Smart phones don't swim very well :o
    2. Managed to get a few hours sleep last night and went back to bed this morning for an hour. Have spent the last couple of nights coughing but hoping over the worst now.
    3. Worked from home today. Don't normally do this by choice but could not face the commute today
    4. Managed to get loads done and clear a lot of the back log. I also didn't get any abuse from people I had to phone (I really thought I would today) but all were nice

Hugs to all who need them
  • Good evening all !

BoP- I am exactly 45 does that mean I will understand it ??:p

PK I don't think they got freezer space then do you ?!

Frith - It's never a dull day in your house really is it?

Mcculloch- I know that you love Christmas tree decorations is your tree up yet ?

    5 for today

    1. Moved office - desk I have been given was soooo dirty . Vacated by one of the top bods . no less . I dread to think what his house is like . Desk. phone, PC all wet wiped to death ...Still, I was writing a report having unpacked and de gunked new desk area within an hour.

2.Should be getting a couple of pay rises within the next few months . An unexpected surprise :)

    3. OH had bought me a posh supper to put in the oven as he had to go into work this evening . He left it out and wrote "For You" on it. I shared it with my Dsis who is visiting from London so it should have read "for us"..Very nice it was too for meat free Monday.

    4. Black Friday telly is now set up in bedroom .

    5. Hound particularly cuddly with my sister :D Which was rather sweet.

Have a good evening all !

Dd2 is creasing me up with her tales of custom attempted returns - one pram which child has outgrown so, in view of customer, no longer fit for purpose.
How's pup mhags? I missed the excitement of jarvis's face swelling like a balloon - perhaps leech, perhaps bee sting. Dds and xoh were very alarmed. Glad i missed the excitement!

  • Mculloch I would have needed counselling I can’t believe how stressful it was. Ohh DH just gave me a very similar sounding jumper, and I have to admit our Lidl mince pies are open, but now I need to know if the others are good….
Tealady: there were several versions on e bay we researched and opted for one that will text us when he puts the key in and texts us when he’s back at his start point. It will text us gps coordinates and a google map
link if we ask it where it is. It powers via the buggy battery that my dad still remembers to charge at the moment. Will let you know if it’s any good.
Chicken: 2 more portions of them in the drawer, they were lovely because I err doubted that of course. Congrats on the pay rises, and we also have an office move this weekend just for the fun of it.

1.I am still trying not to wear all black so now its dark greens dark navy, drk purple of course and anything with sparkle
2.Broke a fever and woke up feeling run over, pleasure being I’ve booked a few days working at home, luckily today I was able to do the minimum I have to be honest but I was online if needed, tried to book in with the doctor but no appointments available.
    3. Simple chicken, chips and salad for dinner.
    4. A friend popped by to pick up their animal, they are moving away, it’s right for them.
    5. Another one who enjoys Christmas here

    Good evening everyone :hello:

BoP - fingers crossed for a successful outcome of the interview.

VJsmum - veg tagine sounds divine. Good for you with your new confidence. Very jealous!

Having had a little "to do" with someone at work on Friday, they have been ignoring me all weekend and all day today. Actually quite suspicious of the silence, as opposed to grateful...

    Pleasures for today:

    1) HM and home grown tomato soup for lunch. My class were aghast to discover that I didn't have He*nz tomato soup. Mental note to make soup with them next term....

    2) Picked up the Christmas mag from Mr T - looking for inspiration!

    3) Discovered that Glenn Cosby (from the 2013 GBBO) is at a local theatre soon. Just need someone to come with me. We even have a non-fiction reading book in school which is by him!

    4) Think I've just about finished my Christmas shopping. THINK.... hmmm...

    5) To do list just about sorted! I haven't thought about writing Christmas cards though... One step at a time!

Chicken, the decs go up this weekend, all being well. My friend is coming on Friday to help me to prepare and clear the decks.

    1. After big expenses in last few weeks (major trike repairs, new trolley) having enough cash to meet bills.

    2. The lentil and sweet potato curry was rather, rather nice. Doing that again, dirt cheap recipe. Not often I really enjoy a vegan meal but that one was a total cracker. Green lentils just slightly nutty and definitely worth using. Which is good as I discovered a bag I'd bought hiding in the cupboard as well as the unloved bag my friend gave me.

    3. Magazine in post, subscription was a competition win, doesn't seem a month since the last one arrived.

    4. My half price base layer top from A!di fitted and has kept me snug today and also itch-free under a slightly itchy jumper.

    5. A very quiet day, head down and working at home so it will have to be your pleasures. :D
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
