Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. It was so mild this morning I had the windows and the back door open until after lunch
    2. Postie brought me some L2S vouchers for doing some surveys
    3. Did an on-line one which paid me via paypal
    4. Shopped this evening as Mr S is usually quite quiet after 4pm, bought almost all of the things I need for a dinner for 8 in a couple of weeks, and a chilli for 30 the following week. Just need to get the fresh veg etc now. Paid using nectar points, I had almost £100-worth and still have some left so am quite pleased with my trolley load of 'free' shopping :D
    5. Question Time, one of my weekly favourites. Apparently it came from Romford in London, Who moved the goal posts? Romford was in Essex when my Aunt and Uncle lived there for over 45 years!

    Sweet dreams :)

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Antibiotics working - hoorah!

    3) Bigger son's bus didn't turn up so drove him to school then had a sneaky cooked breakfast.

    4) Helped my brother sort some stuff out left from a job he'd done today.

    5) Smaller son is part of a research programme into autism run by Newcastle University (he doesn't know!) and some of the paperwork arrived today.

    6) Cleaned the living room properly, tidied up, cleaned the tiles thoroughly.

    7) Tea turned out surprisingly well. We had a pheasant from the freezer so I found a recipe which has the usual madeira/sherry and other ridiculous things I can't believe anyone has in their cupboards. So it went in the oven in stock and orange juice with carrots, onions etc and yesterday's roast potatoes chucked in for the last 10 minutes. It was great, sons had a second portion! Did some bread sauce with it.

    8) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.

Quick 5 as I'm off out on the randan tonight, annual get together with friends from Tasmania and Queensland....who have all been drinking since lunchtime according to Fbook! As a teetotaller this fills me with much (sarcastic tone) joy! I'm quite happy to have my dinner and go, I will be out for work at 6.30am tomorrow! Anyway, it will be nice to see them ...it will Mhags!

Day started off well enough, ( got a tad annoyed by boss) but finished up at 1pm and then had 1 minute to wait for the train so that was fine.

Son and pup met me at the station, nice sunny afternoon ...still no sign of blankie , one side or another....:(

Posted my last 2 Christmas cards, I needed more stamps.

We've had to buy an iPad for DD2 new school....managed to get a reconditioned one for $200 less than school were selling them for. At least it will be hers, we've had to pay the same amount past 2 years to lease a netbook from the almost old school. She will have no text books only books. Changed days!

Had a bath :) whilst listening to smooth Christmas radio! Had an awful moment when I shut the door.......the lock has broken and there is no handle, awaiting handyman to call and fix, I was in a panic as it's a fear of mine to be locked in somewhere,. DD2 rescued me! ( she was locked in when the lock failed a few weeks ago.) the pleasure was the bath part!

DD1 sat and passed a course today, now she is 18 she can serve alcohol at her shop or work in a bar. We need a certificate to do so over here and partake in a course.

    There, that's 5!

Small rant at my Oz bank. I have to transfer moment home to UK each month to cover mortgage on our UK house. Did this transfer as I do every month on 25th , been checking RBS , as I do every month to check it's been transferred.....seems my Oz bank hasn't sent the money until today, bit annoyed by this, so shall be querying that! I shall be every unhappy if I incur overdraft charges !

Do have a lovely day, I'm off to improve on my gorgeousness!
  • friday today hooray!
    had good nights sleep
went shopping at mr m and got £5 points voucher
going to xmas fair in kent tomorrow with ds his partner and grandaughter
feel better today lurgy seems to be on way out
    hope everybody has nice weekend:j
  • Good evening all !

greywitch- enjoy your fair tomorrow and glad that the lurgy is on its way out.

VickyA - well done Ms. Aquatic :T

mhagster- lets hope blankie doesn't make an appearance on xmas day . Well done DD new job and passed her work cert x

    5 for today

    1. Day off:)

    2. DMum need to have her central heating system have the sludge pumped out of all of the pipes . Took all day so kept the tiny terrier as they were going in and out of the back gate .

    3. Made some HM flatbreads - so easy and cheap . Had two types of curry using stuff from buckling under the weight store cupboards . Invited DMum over for some as she has been a bit lost hanging around all day next door with plumber.

    4. OH bought home a whopping new TV -which we don't need but it was £140 so he thought he should .....I am soooo not like that !!

5.Hound trampled all over laptop keyboard in his haste to get to the back door . Sorted out numbers lock but he has broken the "page up" button... the line down the screen has gone but probably need a new laptop rather than an extra TV....

ooh 6 . washed bedding for dogs and people and line dried it as the yellow thing was out - just finished it off in tumble drier for 15 mins . Looking forward to going to bed now !

have a good weekend all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    Good evening everyone :hello:

A busy old day, as ever.

    1) NPD - well not strictly. I drove a minibus for school, but it's not my fuel. I walked down to pick it up (exactly a mile) and then walked back this evening (via the coffee shop, but we'll skip over that!!!).

    2) Another payment from TopCashback became payable. :j Duly withdrawn and showing up nicely on my spreadsheet!

    3) My article, written about my school's swimming pool, has been published in this week's local rag. I seem to be the unofficial press officer, plus I have a cake club friend who is the deputy editor. ;)

    4) Walking 3 miles, according to my app on my phone. Not enough, but better than nothing.

    5) My headteacher told me today how brilliantly I'm doing - great progress with the children and just generally fantastic. I know I'm doing an ok job, but to hear that was so good. We frequently tell the children how well they're doing, but forget the adults. However, anyone being nice to me reduces me to tears. I'm a wuss! :D

There seems to be a pile of clothes looking at me, begging me to iron them. I've avoided looking at them for too long, so I'd better deal with them.

    Night all xx

VickyA - how popular are you? Revel in it :D
Broomstick - love broccoli soup :D
Sparrer - hope Muttley is better
Frith - glad sons are behaving better. I have teenagers too - I feel your pain
DD - you off to Saudi?
Mhags - once again jealous of your heat
BoP - hope good news comes of interview
greywitch - hope you are better now

    pleasures for last two days

    1. potential nightmare day at work yesterday over fairly painlessly. 3 hour lecture in the evening over after 1 and a hlaf due to miscommunication by professional body
    2. good walk to work and OH picked me up from station on way back, all in all it meant that i got home 2 hours earlier than i expected too
    3. yummy cod for tea
    4. Good session with masters students - trip to London has meant that we know each other quite well and i really like them
    5. Evening in front the telly - caught up a couple of Waterloo roads and i'm a celeb. !!!!py but watchable
    6. good drive to work today. i hardly drive anywhere these days (no petrol gone in the car for nearly 6 weeks!) had a sing song :o
    7. Some great feedback from last nights professional seminar - was told it was the best one delegate had ever been to (he might have only been to two though :rotfl:). It also turned out that he worked for my first ever professional practice so was able to pass on regards to former colleagues.
    8. curry from the freezer for tea
    9. DS sat and filled in his 6th form applications - i couldn't really believe how well he wrote his personal statement.
    10. Another TV evening - I have a day of marking tomorrow (probably) so making the most

    Happy Friday all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • I've not managed to post this week - not sure whybut been fairly good apart from my back 'going' on wednesday and been on painkillers since.

    1. DS2 birthday lunch went very well and it was good having all the extended family together. He enjoyed himself and liked his presents. Also had a couple of half drunk bottles of wine left which I've been enjoying since.

    2. Met a friend today and we looked round a santa's grotto which was very good and spoke to one of the people who created it and his proud Mum. Its at a local garden centre and this is the third year that we have gone to look at it.

    3. DS2 not understanding that his shepherds pie never tastes like mine. He makes his with beef mince and I make it with lamb.

    4. A real autumn feel when I walked this morning with mist and the smell.

    5. I sorted out another cupboard and now have lots more space. I do seem to have more space than stuff I got rid of.

    6. Coped at work and just kept my head down and out of the way.

    Evening all :)

Hope you feel better soon villagelife.
    VickyA, what lovely feedback!

    Five pleasures for Friday:

    1. Lit the fire a bit earlier this evening so have been enjoying it for longer.

    2. Baked spuds, tuna and sweetcorn and heritage tomato salad for supper. Very good.

    3. Booked return train trip to Paris for early in the new year. Prices are rising and seats are selling so quickly I didn't want to leave it any longer. It's for work but quite exciting because we've never done that train trip before.

    4. Enjoyed catching up on Amazing Spaces.

    5. Nice chat with the woman in the green grocers.

    Sweet dreams

A day of ups and downs...

    1) Bit of a lie in as bigger son had an INSET day.

    2) Smaller son had a good day at school.

    3) Went to the allotment, took the fallen down rotten panels off the shed. Brought home carrots and parsnips.

    4) Popped to Sainsburys (just for pistachio nuts, not for Black Friday!)

    5) Took bigger son to the bike shop for a look.

    6) Quick pasta tea.

    7) Bigger son went role playing with my brother and brother in law.

    8) Smaller son and I played chess.

    9) Watched I'm a Celebrity.

    10) Had a letter of commendation in the post from smaller son's school. :-)

Day slightly marred by bigger son storming off in a huff at about 8.30 this morning. Off to his dad's again. He cycled there the other day, left his bike there and his dad has sold it (the bike I bought for his birthday in September - don't ask).

Anyway, he came back 4 hours later and we managed to do the allotment/bike shop/sainsburys bit. Then we got home and I had a 20 minute monologue directed at me that I never do anything for him, I am (still) boring and I am not interested in his bike.

Yet writing his diary at the end of the day, he told me how wonderful the day had been, everything is marvellous and (he always writes a score) he gave his day 9 out of 10!!
