Briefly, my thanks to the Guardian of the Yellow Thing, who I appreciate has so much else to think of today. It was a lovely morning but began to cloud over just as I got the mower out. It was a skin of the teeth job, started to spot with rain just as I was cleaning the mower before putting it away!

Today I'm feeling quite pleased as I foraged 1.5lb of rosehips and made a few pints of rosehip syrup. All for the cost of the sugar which I already had :)
Also, I currently have my slow cooker full to the brim making green tomato and courgette chutney with the last of my summer fruit from the allotment.
Adults are having foodie hampers for xmas as I'm a bit skint. Most of the stuff has either been foraged or grown on my allotment.
Feeling very old style and proud! :T

mrsdwhite the chutney sounds yum and I have both to do from the allotment - could I PM you for the recipe - thank you

  • not very OS but I booked a flight to see a friend today
proper OS - cake made from apples from the tree
  • Rites, I ams a back in.

5 Interview went well, used to work for them, so fingers are crossed, Thinks they need team from 2007 back together again. Good chance as any I think!

4 Bloody Humane Remains, could not be bothered. Well, you all knows what I think of Educationalists, social workers and though provokers. No change there, situation abnormal. Come and look at the boat!

3 Great to catch up with tea and coffee chat, with cake with old pal as well. Made his day and lovely chat with DD that is now at college and chauffeuring her sister.

2 BoPsie had cake as well, I got her a chocolate one. Hope she not notice I took pennies out of her purse! But it is the thirst thing she has had hot since she deliberately lost her engagement ring.

1 For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use to be anything else. wc

Pleasures for yesterday then a question.... :-(

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son went canoeing down a fast flowing river Teme with my brother in law. Nearly 10 miles!

    3) Bigger son went for a bike ride.

    4) Lunch at the pub where son and brother in law finished canoeing.

    5) HM pizza and baked potatoes for tea.

    6) School friend came round.

Question - last week and today, builders have been fitting my new bathroom. It's rubbish (photos may be provided later). They quoted me quite a sum of money but haven't done half the work - point blank refused to dry line the outside wall saying it was too difficult with the pipework (?), haven't skimmed over the other 3 walls either, Tiling is messy, shower head is stuck right up the corner, blobs of grouting and sealant all over the place.

I had 2 sinks (bought the wrong one originally) and the 2nd was one that hangs from the wall, no pedestal. I've just been up and they've pinched the pedestal from the FIRST sink, which of course doesn't fit at all so they've put sealant everywhere to glue it under the sink!!!!

I have no idea what to do about it. I've just ignored them this afternoon, I want them gone. I don't want them to correct the work (don't think they're capable) but I won't pay them the full figure. I seem unable to discuss it, I just smile vaguely as they make things even worse. :-/

Should I email them about it? I've got the number ready for the builder who did my kitchen. I'm sure he can skim the walls over and patch up the worst bits.

They've just left. Apparently putting a piece of pressed board over the hole in the floor addes £240 to original quote.
