    Just in.

pk- your posts are always so full of colour and spirit, even when you are not, and make me chuckle.

bop - & didn't & your post, was too busy vocally ensuring above>^

kk - don't you just sound in terrific following-my-vocation form? :-)))))) It's great to read.

    1. ...out @ Davy Field again post Trumpington Boot on another lovely yellow thing mostly sort of day. Shelford Nomads vs Army, close-y close. 2pts in it, in manner of lady bopsie on the bounce. Message for Good Lady Bopsie - please remember how dear Chickenopolis lost a valuable diamond from her ring?........and it was found, but not immediately? So, wherever our good friend Chicken is, she'll without doubt be whooshing your bague back to you at just the right moment. It will return. Ask Raffles:-)

    2. Setback start in that swank bathrobe was o/n soaked when & first saw outside and still it was pouring, but not now. Soft and dry and cuddly and fresh.

    3. Also, at long last, managed a couple of pics of chipmunk early dawns, but STILL can't upload anything - as ongoing Thread started for purpose reveals. Any ideas bop?

    4. Met H stalling out at carboot. He, with then partner, was above and beyond good to me at time of R's suicide - 14 years ago at end of this month. Today I learn he has MÉnière's Disease and he is finding it utterly dispiriting, debilitating and Soddit-ing. For one who is not remotely given to such states, it is Hell and this shows. He looks drawn, but we had some silly talk and a bit of a walk about, while his papa minded t'shop. H has been bringing papa out to Fairs and Boots for several years since a disabling stroke, but today father was in better form than son. We used to play scrabble in those other times, with a def. going through the motions agenda day by day, with A Proper Afternoon Tea and Whisky, which helped me much. We both have some knowledge, a good eye, enjoy each other's finds and discussions around same. H rates &'s gold leaf dervish image.

    5. Good chat with Spitalfields M too, re: which i.e. Spits hunt'n'gather, little new today, unless you count a 10' snakeskin and a framed up little 3''x4'' scrap of old bronze self-embroidered silk of a song thrush, thin old contemporaneous frame. Love it. Puts me in mind of a similar larger piece, ancient embroidery on paper, which I sold at Spits last year for v.v.healthy £s to a cracking family. It felt so right that it should go to them.
M, always a charmer, always v.kind to me, has been so again today.

    6. John Finnemore we'll take in any shape, any form, any time, any how - so let's so politely smack our hands

-esp. The World SNAP Championships................funny, funny, funny clever man.

I'll stop now, before I have to get my AB boots stuck into ff - thought that was moi!:-) Big Welcomes to You.

....before 7, which is a Mixed Blessing:
Back to car, found 3 notes written by kind peeps, all giving reg.no of car 'which damaged yours' and their phone no.s . Things to sort out demain.

Good morning! It's Monday and I am on my first day off in what feels like forever but is in fact 8 days. It will be a day of catching up on housework and garden and tripping over the puppy! I have emails I need to catch up on and shall probably have a wander round local shops and must buy groceries for fresh food as there's enough in cupboards and freezer to make meals from.

Soooo.....to quote myself from Friday " new cook.....hmmmm" or some such like....went to work on Saturday at 9am and by 10.30am I was cooking in that kitchen as cook had gone. I don't know if you have ever done your food hygiene course....you watch a video of "how not to be' , chef scratching his bum, picking his nose, smoking and not washing hands etc ...well it seems I'd hired the Australian equivalent when it came to food hygiene standards! Work has a tiny kitchen , there is no hiding the fact, it is what it is, but you work from the space you have and just get on with it,
Anyway, let's just say his standards were not my standards and when I repeatedly asked him ( nicely) to be a bit more hygienic , when he'd told me he didn't like our boss and wouldn't be taking instructions from her....only me...( told him she pays your wages!) , when I told him the chicken he'd cooked wasn't cooked and I couldn't sell it. ( we fill our sandwiches with cooked chicken) , when I discovered the muffins he'd made were still raw on the inside , when my 14 year old told me ...'don't go in the kitchen mum!' , to discover he'd made up some chicken schnitzels on the draining board we stack dirty dishes on and I had to say to him yet again....he said I don't think this is working out .....no, me neither!
On the plus side....he did leave his potato hash brown recipe for me! Took his wages, shook my hand and off he went! Me sighing with relief that I wasn't going to kill half my customers with food poisoning and then sobbing in the bathroom as I realised I wouldn't get a day off .....washed my face, put on my best smile and came out of bathroom and got stuck into cleaning my kitchen and sorting out the detritus he'd left.

So I then had to work all day and all day Sunday too....but boss is going in today and Friday so I will have days off :)

On Saturday afternoon we went over to boss's house ( who I'm friendly with) for her daughter's birthday party. We had a lovely afternoon and evening and company was good, our other friends were there so it was nice to catch up with them and we met some new people, which is always good I think. Came home with food for my freezer and big slabs of birthday cake. Boss is from Turkey and she made some amazing food! Popped back over on Sunday to pick up our table and chairs and cake stands etc and she has offered to make some food for DD1's 18th party next month....yes please!

So when I finally got home yesterday OH and I went out for some dinner, we found a new to us restaurant and were their first customers of the evening ....neither of us had eaten all day so were famished! It was so delicious and I was absolutely stuffed.

Popped into aldi on way home as we were down to last loo roll and no milk. So bought just a few things as we didn't have a coin for trolley ...got the pup a big boy lead which had been RTC.

Home and snoozed whilst watching last weeks Downton.

This is my big girls last ever week of school.she has 3 dress up days and then a final assembly on Thursday and then it's called muck up day. She is so ready to leave and start on life's next chapter but still has exams to get through first. Back home she would have been at uni already but different school entry dates over here meant she went back a year when we moved here.

I've been up since early o'clock with the pup ...who maddens and gladdens with equal measures ( well maybe gladdens more:)), it's a beautiful morning,I'm sitting in my office which overlooks the back garden, sun is coming up and reflecting on the gum trees and shining through the new green leaves of our trees. I can hear my blackbird, the magpies , the mynah birds and the collared doves purroo purrooing.

Right, I'm off for a shower and to get started and make the most of my day:)

  • Today I'm feeling quite pleased as I foraged 1.5lb of rosehips and made a few pints of rosehip syrup. All for the cost of the sugar which I already had :)
Also, I currently have my slow cooker full to the brim making green tomato and courgette chutney with the last of my summer fruit from the allotment.
Adults are having foodie hampers for xmas as I'm a bit skint. Most of the stuff has either been foraged or grown on my allotment.
Feeling very old style and proud! :T

A big welcome to the newbies :hello: to the nicest, friendliest board on the forums

BoP Date and time duly noted. Looks like Friday will be another lie-in day :)
Mhags so pleased you enjoyed the party, and what a lovely boss offering to make the food for DD1's 18th. So pleased this job, and all it's little extras, is working well for you
& the silk sounds gorgeous, a very special piece. Your descriptions are so...descriptive!...one can almost see it in the mind's eye

    1. Up early, well for me, anyway, to have another go at the carpet where I dropped a gloss-filled paintbrush . After three attempts I got it all off, phew!
    2. After watching the mogs play hide and seek around the garden pots they settled down to sleep in the sun on the patio. Brave mutt joined them for a short while but soon decided their claws, when they were stretching, looked a little too unsafe to loiter for long :)
    3. Started to move my clothes from the guest room to my bedroom, it gave me a chance for a good clear out. There are two carrier bags for the charity shop and some shoes for the recycling bin at the tidy tip. I will not buy more clothes to replace them, I will not.....
    4. Out to meeting with fellowship friends, then lunch at a local restaurant. It was warm enough to sit outside to eat
    5. Gave a talk at a clinic this evening which was well received, I think. Had supper with them afterwards which brought lots of questions from the clients, good to be able to chat about a serious subject in a relaxed way.

More yellow stuff tomorrow please, my garden looks like a meadow!

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Hi everyone.

I've had a busy few days.

    For yesterday

    -I did loads of housework.

-I've sorted through my finances and transferred more money to my budgets account.

-it was a beautiful sunny day.

-I made a big pot of Quorn mince and veggie stew.It tastes really good.

-I've started on the last series of 'Desperate Housewives'.Still enjoying it.

-best of all for last: I had a super swim. :)

    Happy Monday to all!
  • Ok, just had dippy eggs with real buttered marmite soldiers, tea and jam on toast. Now getting dehaired for that interview. Oh, PK. not counting, just yet!

As quick as I can before my battery runs out on iPad.

    Lovely day off.
    House a bit tidier
Groceries bought...blooming expensive but a few rtc's and special offers. Have started buying for DDs 18th and for Christmas hampers.
Took 2 bags of clothes and shoes to salvos.
Sat in the garden for a while in the afternoon...might even have had a wee 10 minute nana nap!
Pie, beans and mash for tea. RTC cream filled lamington sponge for pud.

We arrived here 4 years ago today...we've been through a lot as a family in that time but we are still standing strong together. I am rather happy at the moment ( if only I could get a cook I'd be delirious! )

    Have a good one :)
