Hope all those with poorly colds are well very soon.
Ampersand: your day sounds wonderful, the rainbow sounds magical, and result on the technical fix.
1. We popped to Mr T I have to admit it was only for bread and any possible mark downs, we got a lovely bakery loaf and 3 x 1kg baby pots at 20p each, pre packed salad, 17p, Organic Bananas? 17p, baby leeks 10p, a cauliflower 9p, a pre done cabbage and leek pack for 13p, a pack of runner beans for 20p and a whole lettuce for 12p, lovely for the weekend, I have to admit we did conspire to go for the mark downs as things are stretched, and proves we can eat healthy on reductions.
2. Washed the towels but spent on leccy by using the tumble dryer to fluff them up.
3. Went to Lidl to try and do some canny shopping, had a £5 fb voucher and made a list, we bought 2 of the half price weekend offers (plums n chocolate), we ended up spending spot on £30.15p for the 5 voucher, and out of that a big bag of their Christmas goodies hidden away, 30% off meat, and tinned bits we made it work well.:T
4. Really had someone watching over us today, DH took me out to take my mind of job searching we went to charity shops, every time I went to pay for something it was half of the price I was expecting to pay due to a Saturday offer I had not clocked, so I got 2 cd’s for £1, and a really big bag of small cuddly toys, (I always keep an eye out for them as they are rare but the ferrets love them), I went to pay and the whole bag full was 50p.:D
5. We then stopped in at the garden centre and I thought it was a bad idea as their marketing “works on me” I walked through the doors and forgot what I went in for as I am a bit of a magpie promptly drawn to the glittering sparkling Christmas displays as we walked in, but this once it didn’t work and again we paid half the price we were expecting. DH has re done the pond and planned on getting end of year pond plants, they were very reduced but still expensive in my eyes for a plant that is about to die off for the winter any rate, we went around not really knowing what we were doing and chose 6 big pond plants based on colours for next year (purple x 2 of course, red, yellow, white and a grass) we were expecting to pay 20 according to the mark downs only to be charged exactly 10 with 50% off today. :T
6. We stopped in at a little caf! and had a roast dinner each again was daily offer for £4.50 each with a tea or coffee each, so while we did spend pennies it was lovely to feel like the day was a bit of a bargain and it worked well as…:)
7. We also talked and decided to enjoy Christmas at home this year as we have both had aches and pains and would like to relax and choose what we do, that and if we aren’t working we will be nice and frugal, I do rather enjoy the Christmas decorations for a little bit.:)
8. Remembered to upload the receipts to checkout smart for some cash back.
9. Oddly I received a call from a recruiter working on a role at the weekend but it sounded perfect, they dropped an email over and I’ve applied.:)
10. The weekends going so well today tis a shame I didn’t enter the lottery!!!!!!!!:rotfl:0 -

Ooo, Barcelona, DD!
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in!
2) Looked round some charity shops (found nothing).
3) Went to Croome NT briefly. I liked the RAF Defford bit more than the stately home!
4) Did some geocaching but disaster struck when I dropped a cache and it rolled away, through the barbed wire fence and across someone's lawn. :-O I've had to email the cache owner.
5) Went swimming with mum and brother.
6) Pie and chips from the van for tea.
7) Lots of TV watching!0 -
1. Went to Reading crem with DB to scatter DM's ashes, a member of the staff took us to the exact spot that my step-fathers ashes were scattered in the garden of remembrance 18 years ago, now they're together again. It was mild, warm and occasionally sunny, and a very peaceful and beautifully tended garden. It felt very final but it also felt right, there were no tears, just DB and I reminiscing about the funny, silly, warm moments we had with our Mum.
2. DB and I had lunch in Henley at one of DM's favourite restaurants, promised each other we'll keep in touch and visit more. It's often said that women hold families together (no offence but many men seem to make less effort) so I'll just have to make more effort
3. Spent yesterday with a friend and her OH, had dinner out then went to see 10cc. They all autographed my programme for DD, she'll be surprised and very happy
4. Two friends came in today to start redecorating the bedroom and help put the new chests and b/s tables together. I'm useless at that sort of thing, if I put up a shelf a pencil would roll off it. Good progress made, tomorrow should see the old heavy terracotta bedroom transformed in a clean and fresh sage green and white one.
5. Funny little Finn likes to push his face into the palm of my hand while I stroke under his ear with my thumb. I thought he'd suffocate but when I took my hand away he pawed it back. He's such a cutie-pie.
Sweet dreams0 -
Not long in.
1. Grass cut, at last, but seems to look longer straight away again, I swear. Milder by far than I thought. Neighbour's bunnies loved playing in the grass heap from catcher.
2. Emptied car, bathed in yellow thing, balmy soft warms, at my lovely storage. Nice chats with owner. Extracted graduated trio of Maori woven flax baskets for x's pressie set-up and all came together well, incorporating vicarage eggs, and village plant, as a We-Always-Do, apart from other bits and fun card from JL yesterday.
3. Tight timing, but kept to it, altho' mower not put away till later. No.6 in Jumble queue better than expected. Absence of usual hard-nosers was a bonus. £1 entry!!! One particular thing needs research - into the Fitzwilliam again for &. Then just a few no-more-books and only one no-more-plants and a few quirky bits and pieces. Quirky is good in &'s earning world.
4. In town, someone had walked away from Natwest atm, leaving receipt and £5 note sitting there. [£5s are available in Uni town Cbs and & noted 'You have £10 available' on slip, so this money was tight] Didn't see who. Took both in to M. in Bank. She can find who it was.
5. Guess guess guess!!! The little shortbread fingers were back at the emporium post-jumble! Perfect timing. They are just right.
6. At an earlier perfect point, just happened inside to be halted in tracks, ditto whatever-was-job. Horatio Clare's unmistakable voice and language honeyed & to a standstill. Certain voices do things for & - and I always like From Our Own Correspondent:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04kzz5y
-from which '...And Horatio Clare's in the Danube Delta's archipelago of waters, marshes and sighing trees listening to stories of conservation, propagation and extinction.'
7. There is not a bottlebrush to be obtained for live money on the whole of Planet Earth. Not chez Mr Lewis. Not w8rs. Not Mr T. Not £land. Not thing-me-bobs. Jumble had tiny trio for 10p - they'll do for now:-)
8. Two happy shops - emporium home baking stuff as previewed hier. 1/2 price, even on offers - worked brilliantly: £10 / 19 specialist ingredients,e.g. vanilla pods . Last fling like this was when Julian Graves was shutting down over a year back. Next>Mr T for petrol. Bottle brush quest was still live. rtc's like pk's and more - loads for neighbour's bunnies @ 3/4/6/8p +line-caught lightly battered cod, 2 pks each 15p[were £4.99!], 3p samphire;-))))), 2 bunches flowers, 15p, 25p. etc.etc. Check-out boy was saying 'Wow!' and his colleague came over to sign him off. '34 items £3.94!...That's amazing' He's right. & v.pleased.
9. Pulled over on way back to revel in Moon again, fine stars, the Plough, with perfect Rebus listening:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04k7j00
I loved Ken Stott in this rôle back in tv times. This r4 production also does everything Rankin could ever want. Brilliant, dark.

For yesterday:
-a true nsd.
-went swimming.Feeling less winded.
-managed > 10 000 steps.
-on coming out of the pool I sat down outside to eat a banana, and was accosted by a beautiful black and white cat (more black than white),who walked towards me with her tail up,promptly jumped on my lap, curled up and went to sleep, purring all the while!Forty minutes later I decided that it was time to go.I love cats,so I was purring too!
I've only seen this cat once before. It was on Thursday, and she totally ignored me when I knelt down with outstreched hand.
I tried to get a picture of her,but typically, she was elusive.
I do hope that we meet again.
-my own wee kitty, who has just turned 68 (13 in cat years) curling up to sleep on my lap last night.
Happy Sunday.0 -
Is a WAFB day for BoP. PM to DD UTM. :heartpuls to the needy.
5 Same old boring Sunday morning just been out and washed the car. BoPsie cooking nothing different, PORAGE. Getting my fill of Jumbo Organic Oats, tea and crumpets. Nearly out of blackcurrant jam.
4 Watched last eve Promises. An, apols to the kiwi, Australian comedy. Makes the bake dance singalong look the self ingratiating carp it is. Available on Dave play up. BoP gets entertained instead of some bushel bland giving an earful.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Congratulations to kittikins on your AMAZING observation! :j :j Ensure you get well fully, but also remember that it's important to be well for half term!
My pleasures for the past couple of days:
1) Saw my boys win on Friday night. Sat next to my dad, which was lovely. Good to catch up without my mum butting in.
2) Had a friend help me during my baking group which I run in school on a Friday. She's hoping to train to be a secondary teacher, but felt she needed experience in a primary school. I'm not sure whether she's recovered yet! :rotfl:
3) Did all my planning yesterday, which is a weight off my mind!
4) Did a few jobs in my capacity of decade representative for my old school alumnae association. Mainly, chasing missing addresses from those who left during the 1990s!
5) Meal out last night with DH at Cafe Rouge. I remembered that I had a card which got us 25% off the bill! What a bonus.
6) Went to see One Man Two Guvnors last night. Absolutely hilarious! I saw it in London three years ago, when James Corden was playing the lead, but this time I allowed DH to go with me. It was fantastic! http://www.onemantwoguvnors.com/ It's still on tour, so do see it if you have a chance.
Right, so for the rest of the day it's a bit manic. DH and I are going to see my parents, my mum is cooking lunch then we're watching the village amateur dramatic group in their annual play. From the National Theatre last night, to SADS this afternoon - and nothing in between!
Have a good day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Sparrer, sounds like a lovely warm personal ceremony with you and DB reminiscing on past times and a lovely spot for your DM to be laid to rest x
MHags ... naughty puppy ! Had to laugh at the image of the cabbage though :rotfl:
KK - get well NOW !
PK - I am envious of your RTC bargains!
Heres some pleasures for fri eve/saturday
1. friday evening treat - half price pizza with vouchers
2. Saturday - sunny afternoon after the thunder/lightening/lashing rain in the morning
3. load of washing done and mostly dried on the washing line outside
4. having a good clear out and tidy as DP's are coming to stay for a week on Monday
Can only think of 4 as yet again I have had a bad stomach Saturday. This has happened the last couple of weekendsIt seems to happen when we have a takeaway, but as its different food each time I'm not sure. Feeling better this morning.

1. Starting to feel vaguely human again, I managed to sleep for about 6 hours last night
2. Have had a shower and put fresh sheets on my bed, ready for falling into tonight.
3. DD, who has made me get well soon cards, given me virtual cuddles (I like to quarantine myself when feeling this grotty, so she's been kept away as much as possible), and has been nicely bossy, telling me when to switch my light off and try to sleep etc.
4. Feeling like I should be able to go back to school tomorrow
5. Had a nice FB chat with a chum earlier.
6. Last night, I had my own version of 'movie night', watching Holby and Casualty for the first time in nearly a year on iplayer, whilst chomping on tortilla chips and coughing and spluttering to my heart's content.0
