And another thing while I am at it. The smell and aroma of Christmas had hit BoP's pad. The homemade pudding and cake fruits are soaking themselves in the Whisky. Note, we do not use sour grapes here or French licquor. The pudding mix will be made next weekend, and brewed for a further fortnight in the dining room. The cake will be baked next Sunday. It is expected that te cake will be around 9lb 6oz when fully sintered with orange and Whisky, then iced.
These Christmas treats are not available at ATSM. Note in emporium w8rx this mourning, foam and glue variants, not as good as BoP's pudding were available for £25 and upwards. I am off now to scratch my balls.0 -
1. Did a bit of pampering, face pack etc.
2. Always have a brunch on Sunday, todays was cranberry, l/f brie and crispy turkey rashers on a lovely thick slice of bloomer loaf.
3. DH had bought a car part so a journey out turned out to be down in lydd, so we detoured all around Dungeness having a good look about, then drove to the sea and watched the kite surfers from the warmth of the car, then we did the very traditional thing got fish and chips wrapped in paper back to the car to continue watching them while having them and they were lovely we both only managed the fish.
4. Made a list of things to do in 2 weeks’ time to plough my way through, it keeps me focused and motivated.
5. Bought the gas & leccy bills up to date much to my disgust but has to be done.
6. Checked out the winter kit in the car to make sure all bits working, and food in date etc.0 -
It felt very final but it also felt right, there were no tears, just DB and I reminiscing about the funny, silly, warm moments we had with our Mum.

Back from barcelona, bringing to an end an amazing work year which started with budapest this time last year (same project), singapore, malaysia, sri lanka, edinburgh poland, malta, dominica, south africa. Add on prague (which was last august), antigua where i got stranded one night courtrsy of the hurrican, and london (holiday) and i have already clocked up 12 capitals since my 50th so well on my way to 60 before i'm 60. (I'm counting barcelona as it's the capital of catalonia). Nothing else concrete on the horizon, but looking forward by xmas to have caught up on 'the day job', the house and annual leave!
1) beautiful morning in barcelona. Woke at 8 (bliss), lay in bed till 8:30 (even more bliss!), packed, breakfast and check out by 9:30 then taxi to airport (which was pandemonium but had arrived with plenty of time)
2) direct flight to edinburgh where i didnt need to wait for my bag hooray and went straight onto tram. First time i've been on the edinburgh tram. Very nice
3) met dd2 and dd2 bf at york place tram terminus then we went to very nice tea shop for tea and crumpets
4) dd2 bf went back to study and dd2 walked me to waverley. 45 mins wait so we went to cafe nero for more tea. I had my loyalty card :-)
5) xoh picked me up. Amazingly there was one of our singapore students on the train. She's over for the week's assessment course. We gave her a lift to her guest house (owned by friends of mine -dundee is small!)
6) supper of bacon and beans. Dd1 just finished evensong and xoh has gone to pick her up. I'm snuggled up to the dawgs on the sofa. They had a hair cut friday and are smooth as a baby's bottom. We're gonna watcg dr who then early night zzzzzzzzzzMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Oooft! It's almost 6am here on Monday morning, absolutely pouring with rain outside which will be better for the garden than it will for my walk to train station
I had a most lovely Sunday
Up at silly o'clock to let pup out and then just pottered in house and garden until OH got up.
Planted pumpkin seeds ( taken from a pumpkin at work) , more peas (grr to pup!) , lettuce and tomatoes, some in veg patch ,some in pots. We also bought 4 zucchini ( courgette) plants at hardware store....theses plants were the gifts that kept on giving last summer.
'Twas a very warm 29o....but don't worry , it's back to 14o today! Temp dropped last evening, we'd been boiling all day and then went to walk up to post office to post dratted UK tax returns....when OH had to go back into house and get us a cardi/ hoody each, it was so chilly!
Had a lovely cinnamon and sultana scone and mooch through papers.
Bought some sad seedlings.....about 2/3 price off in aldi, all they really need is a decent drink and planted out. So they're in a pot at the front porch, the lavender that was in pot and not really thriving has been split in three and replanted in the garden. This spring has been an amazing one for lavender , it is stunning in our garden and lots of others too as I walk to and from station . Last year , it was roses , but they had a second wind in autumn this year so I don't know if that's holding them back.
Went to library to return books and borrowed another couple. Then sat in the garden and read all afternoon which was just lovely.....I love it when a book draws you in and you just want to keep reading.
Pup was stung twice by honey bees....the pleasure? I saw it happen both times, so we were able to pull the sting out. It was just a bit too warm for him yesterday so he found a cool spot and stayed there....well for a little while before he became a rascal again......he found his way into the bathroom and came out with a yellow ducky in his mouth....I've had these since DS was born....so they ain't dog toys!
Did the dreaded UK tax retun....doing it is absolutely no pleasure...we have to complete it as we receive income from renting out our home in UK but we don't reach the tax threshold in rental income. Anyway. We have to do it and they have to receive it by end of October so it's been done and hopefully dusted and not a long drawn out process like last years! Peeled stamps off my Christmas cards to post it!
Watched Casualty then went to bed and read for a while before I dozed off.
And that was my thoroughly pleasant Sunday. Not too much money spent....lots of time spent in the garden and the ironing fairy came and ironed all the washing that had dried on the line! Isn't she nice0 -
Just lost post.

Evening all
Quick catch up from yet another train..
Pleasures for the weekend
1 been to "father sit" dad. 'Carer' brothers girlfriend has had a major (though cosmetic) operation - she has lost 14 stone in 2.5 years so has had a tummy tuck. It has been ok. Dad can be rather unpredictable but I have mostly coped ;-)
2 saw my old school friend yesterday - who I don't manage to see often as I usually go just for the day
3 had booze and curry and watched the darts two nights running - joked on FB that I must be turning into a bloke:rotfl:
4 walked by the sea - the footprints of seagulls were fascinating
5 saw my sister today
6 saw my girl for dinner. She has been home for the weekend and we organised us both to be at Euston at the same time. Just had dinner in a 50s diner there. She is loving it in Sarfend
7. My dad had me :rotfl: back seat cooking the dinner. Good job I can :rotfl: otherwise he might have got it in his lap - "I don't want to interfere but...."
8 had one of the best nights sleep I've had for a while
9. Top front seat of the double decker rail replacement bus :T
10. once again - free rail. Worth it's weight in ....
Night all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
DD some super cities there, I can only manage 4 of your list, inc Barcelona. What a beautiful city! Well done on your progress
mhags pups antics make me laugh, except the bit about him being stung. Hope there are no after effects
Sorry you've lost yet another post &, it's always a pleasure to read about your days
1. Slept like a log in the guest bedroom last night, the bed is very comfortable so it was worth investing in a good mattress
2. Friend came over to continue with the decorating, she's eventually happy with the covering up of the deep red walls which took 4 coats of paint. The gloss is on, just needs one wall to be painted green - the one I bought is far too light, more mint than the sage it's supposed to be. Fortunately I won't lose the price of it as said friend has bought it from me to use it in her house.
3. Made a yummy roast dinner with all the trimmings, seldom done these days except when I have someone to cook for. Pets also enjoyed some of the meat with their dinners this evening.
4. Loaded up the car with items for the cs and a few for the tip, laundry in and set to turn on for 6am, bread in and set to turn on for 4 am, feels like Monday has started already!
5. Ready for bed and settled down to watch Our Girl before an early night

A collection.
1. Chat with oldest male friend yesterday morning, looking forward to seeing him again soon.
2. Making a savoury crumble for the first time in years. Had small portion, mused about having some for supper, Dr C. had hoovered the lot.
3. Good buddy popped round and I was able to pass on a lovely sunflower brolly that a manufacturer sent me to review. She has started a new job, her first in some years and is so pleased to be back in work, though it's hard going physically.
4. New hoover en route from Am@zon, a freebie.
5. A book on microwave mug cookery, can't wait to try some of the recipes. Often I CBA to make something good for me when Dr C isn't around but the recipes in this are so quick and easy.
6. Complemented on my 1p butterfly earrings and freebie bracelet.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

4) Got sons some reflective belt things from Halfords for when they go on a bike ride before school.
5) 40p tea of noodles etc YS from Sainsburys.
