marmite well done on going to the library, one of the first things i did here was join. We can take up to 30 books/ DVDs / CDs out at a time! I've just finished my second book I took out in Sunday ...have discovered reading on the train....why haven't I done this before?
I live in French-speaking Switzerland,so always assumed that there wouldn't be a huge range of English language books in the libraries. For a few years now,I prefer reading books in English for relaxation.Anyway, there is a good range in English.I just wish I'd looked earlier.
It didn't occur to me that there would be magazines too, meaning that I can stop my subscriptions.
I always have a book on me when I'm travelling,even just if it's a 10 minute bus ride.0 -
Morning
Just enjoying 10 minutes of peace so have caught up on everyones pleasures.
PK - Well done on the weight loss, 2 stone is amazing.
Pleasures for the last couple of days,
1. DD took me to a trendy ice-cream cafe on Sunday, it was nice but portions far too big and a bit on the expensive side. Will know if got a again to get one to share.
2. English Heritage membership arrived so have been looking through the book planning all the places I want to go. Will hopefully be well used next week when we go to the Isle of Wight :money:
3. Have discovered can use tesco vouchers for Wahanda so can book the spa day I have been looking at for DD's birthday treat and I get a treat at well.
4. Clearing lots of yucky emails from my inbox at work ahead of a week off next week. Sure it will be horrible when I get back but for now at least everything is done that can be done.
5. DD selling me her kindle at a reduced price as mine had broken and I was feeling a bit lost without it. I had the kindle app on my tablet but don't really like it so happy to be reading again. I do love my kindle.
Hugs to all who need them and hope all the poorlies are feeling better.0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Feeling a little pants today.Think I've got some sort of lurgy. Got back from school today and just got into bed. DH cooked supper, bless him, and so I got up and wolfed that down. About to have a bath, after which I'll return to bed with a book.
Despite the lurgy, I have the following pleasures:
1) NSD :j
2) Received the latest Lakeland catalogue.
3) No cash in my purse, so even less tempted to buy anything. Really must progress to just not even taking my purse with me...
4) Bath. Surely pretty much the cure for everything?
5) Making time to read a book. I don't do this often enough.

1. 7 days and seriously counting it’s now a pleasure to be going, I’m getting “attitude” off one or two people now which I find rather an eye opener.
2. DH incredibly cheerful and it was infectious just what I needed to make me smile from a not pleasant day.:)
3. Popped to Mr T, we did spend a bit but also saved a lot as the car also runs on veg oil. All the vegetable and fruit was reduced to pennies, we bought chicken portions again very reduced, and divided it into small portions for the freezer and also for the animals.:T0 -
Evening all
I've been a bit diverted by other things over the last few days.
Five pleasures for recently:
1. A long, hot bath. We almost always have showers but I had a long, long soak the other morning. Lovely.
2. Saw my parents for supper last night. Good to spend time with them again. My dad's problems with walking seem to have gone so were probably not serious. Phew!
3. The arrival of next year's [large] calendar in a ridiculously ginormous box this morning. Fortunately, I needed a box that size! (We are having to make bookings for things ~6+ months ahead so needed the calendar now.)
4. The Apprentice and the next ep of University Challenge.
5. DSs keeping on phoning me and texting me throughout this evening keeping me up to date with what they're up to. Nice warm feeling that they want to.DS2 should be back before midnight. DS1 a bit later because he's been in London.
Sweet dreams.

1. Had fun painting squares of colour on the bedroom wall. Chose my favourite when they were all dry, will get the big tin tomorrow
2. Cleared out the fridge and freezer, threw lots of odds and ends in the sc with some korma sauce and coconut. Have just had a teaspoonful, really looking forward to dinner tomorrow!
3. Laundry and basic housework done before I started on my 'new' cs book series, very little got done til this afternoon
4. Bought and sprayed four new candlesticks crackle black for the Wednesday fellowship meetings, they were much complemented and looked very effective. They were £4 each and bogof
5. A friend gave me a lovely mustard coloured wrap, perfect to keep my shoulders warm when I'm reading in bed
Sweet dreams0 -

PK - Soon be over and the horrible people will be a distant memory
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Picked up a book that I had ordered online to put away for OH for the C word. Saved £14 compared to the price in the shop.
2. Ordered a couple of other bits on line for the C word so that is great nieces and nephews sorted. I want everything bought and wrapped by 1st December but then again I say this every year and am still wrapping things on christmas eve.
3. Left work on time for a change :j
4. Treat myself to a yummy bowl of soup in carluccio's for lunch, pasta and borlotti bean so yummy. I had to wait for some keys to be cut so that is my excuse for going in for lunch.
5. My niece sending me lovely pictures of my great nephew, he is a cute baby
Hugs to all who need them0 -
