    Hi all!

    1. Painkillers, wonderful invention which meant that despite a raging sore throat I slept rather well.

    2. Ticking off little jobs, such as swilling out the fridge, made me feel I was getting somewhere in this pit of doom.

    3. Feeling a kind of meh mood, but the kids antics did tickle me even if some of dd 3's behaviour did not:mad:

    4. Hubby home from scout camp, meaning I could palm bath and bedtime on to him and escape to my studies.

    5. Starting my degree, ooh er my brain does hurt.
Loving it so far but completely different studying from hme than in a school.
Just hope I can squeeze it all into an already busting lifestyle:o

A sneaky extra one, knowing that one of my best friends is all cosy with her kiddies in a very much needed and longed for flat. Which will make all their lives so much easier.
    night night xx

Fell asleep in chair and just woke up. So before bed...
    1. Visit from oldest friend in UK that I'm still in touch with. He was best man at my wedding and I kept him as my friend in the divorce as the ex moved away.

    2. Seeing pics of friend's gorgeous cats. Duke, Gizmo and Mini. Duke is half Siamese but looks like 90%, Gizmo and Mini are bro and sis who are half Russian Blue. Gizmo looks 100% Russian Blue, Mini was the runt and is a tiny little black cat.

    3. Decluttered two items that manufacturers had sent me to friend, one a power pack for his mobile (an external battery, essentially) and the other a rather nice wallet.

    4. Bargain jewellery arrived from the east. Earrings were nicer than anticipated and 1p a pair, plus 47p postage!

    5. The central heating kicked in automatically this morning and I woke to a warm, snug bedroom.

    6. I'm happily wearing trousers I last wore comfortably 2 years ago. Systematic weight loss goes on.

    7. Dyed my hair with half a pack of A!di dye, very MSE and the results are good.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • For yesterday:

-I made a big vegetable stew.

-finally got round to baking a cake.

    -managed some decluttering.

    -went out for a walk.

-sorted out my finances a bit more.

-we had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon.Great for the garden, but I need to do another slug patrol today.

Hope you all have a good start to the week. :)

Evening all....funny old weather here today . Cold and raw for most of the day and then about 3pm a warm wind moved in but very windy and high winds forecast overnight.

Work was okay, got stuff done that was needed. Didn't start until 9.30am which was a nice change...10 hour shift ahead tomorrow though!

Dog having his mad half hour at the moment and being very annoying! Lovely when he's lovely but ooooooh when he's being bitey and chasey and chewy and pinchy!

Had to go to GP with DD1 and the GP we saw was ever so lovely....( $70 please!)

Had a lovely mature chat with DD2.

OH came home from work ( I was at GP) and made spag Bol for tea...courtesy of the freezer!

Made a fuss of my doggy boy when I came in and then made a fuss of my big boy..just incase he felt left out!

And that about it....a very early start to my day , thanks to dog, a nice chat with my friend from home and a day spent on my feet so I'm looking forward to bed tonight! Rain is now on so garden will get a good drink!

    Have a lovely day :)

Thanks button occasionally working, but putah deffo. not very, nonetheless:

    1. 'Heart of England' as area is more sink-hole grid-lock succession in terms of reaching Red Ditch by road. I have found this before when heading that way - A14, M6 etc. Always vile. 2hrs' prediction?- nah, 7.5hrs! Absolute Hades. Was staying in touch by mob. which WAS working away from &squat deadspot and the chaps could not wait past suchandsuch hour. Fair enough, esp. as anniversary dinns was on hymn-sheet for one. So, & eventually crept to junction 34>Stratford[4.5 miles of roadwork mess was all that happened during one 70-min passage+police cars], knowing that another 16 miles from there would allow sight of building. Vile weather, lashing rain, slept in car parked outside. Had prepared for this, was snug, avec wireless, French mattress, cuddly purple blankie. Nice man came back[from Brum]0630h Sat a.m. and in torrential stuff, we ferried &'s 6 boxes through rising floods, water over feet unavoidable. Thank goodness for trailer and cover. Nice man accepted good Hawkes Bay wines as extra Merci.

    2. En route back, pulled in as Charlecote had bunting and little village hall fundraiser on. Left a couple of books on their swap shelf, didn't win raffle, did buy choc. brownie[free shortbread was a nice extra]and had Thermos refilled, all set for road back. Later cuppygreentease and little do-do, rugby commentary on twireless[Shelford were playing near-ish at one point: Clifton]. Glossing over AB's last-min. loss to 'boks. Another long-haul undefeated run starts here:-) In the meantime, Shelford and Toulon both won tight matches:-)

    3. Foraged fallen wild quince during roadside pause.

    4. Yellow thing heralded late Sat arvo. return to Fens. Quick unhitch of trailer at storage, opened boxes to air, dry, hang Harris tweed vintage garments, haul out UNBROKEN[so far]Quimper poterie...more to come this arvo.

    5. All cold change, after yesterday's lovely weather with nippy overlay warning, for baptism of Kit Henry, grand little chap in Prince George mode, beaming, waving and clapping his duly gathered congregation. Excellent fellow:-) Later, 1st airing for short Family@5 tea-time gathering. Over 2 dozen bodes well, once mthly.

    6. Just now, call from optician, lunettes ready, also means phone working for now. Will do banking and dropping sth off at friend's en route.

    7. Comfily warm in bed with hwb last night, after valuing of old Mayfairs and one rare King<NZ[will cover 4 boxes' shipping£], reading Guardian Review section in depth and prizing good writing. Clive James on Karl Miller. Kate Tempest is very interesting. Alan Bennett editing an anthology. There is hope for poetry and spoken performance, as vjm's daughter do knowe and will showe:-)

Not pleasure, but reflection with neighbour [chipmunk still absent, one chinchilla dead]on current horror in world. The latest gruesome news came at Redditch storage depot and my despair, neighbour's too, cannot come near that of young Muslim woman, Serena or Alan Henning's Muslim friend and partner in these mercy missions, or his bro-in-law, all speaking on r4, of their outrage at this de-humanised corruption of daily enacted, deeply-held beliefs and words to the faithful. Their hearts are broken and they said so. Shame and sorrow for Mr Henning's family goes beyond words.

Pleasure no.7 brought this to me over and again.

    Wonderful pics bop.
Frith - yha girl meant those were distances between Alveston and Redditch!
house elf - expand on extreme knitting please. Anything like dd's whovian one? spkg of which, is current one a repeat of that dd?

I'll say 8. is today's Thor Heyerdahl Google - have spoken of childhood connection/correspondence with him in recent times, so won't repeat.

    Afternoon

Pleasures for last couple of days in no particular order -
    1. Needed to work in Southampton on Friday so got to see friend and baby in hospital. Bought her lunch and gave hugs and reassurances that this would pass and be a distant memory soon. Baby was moved out of ICU into normal ward while I was there. The prognosis is looking so much more positive just awaiting some test results to decide on way forward for him but should all be manageable and he is now feeding from mummy :A
    2. Lazy day on Saturday, decided didn't want to go out in the rain so had a PJ day.
    3. Food shopping done on Sunday so cupboards, fridge and freezer are all fully stocked once more. Plus bought a naughty half bottle of champagne for a bargain price of £5.99 in Lidl to put away for DD's birthday, we will be away in a hotel so can celebrate in style for not a lot of money.
    4. Yummy roast beef for dinner plus prepared veg and potatoes for tonight's dinner. While I was in the kitchen also roasted some pork loin and chicken for this weeks lunches. My yorkshire puddings were not a pleasure, not sure what went wrong as usually fine :o
    5. Washing line dried but I really must get some ironing done as if I add any more to it there will be an avalanche.
    6. My FN1 boyfriend won an industry award for the work he did at the Olivier Awards. :j

Hugs to all who need them

5 It is with regret that I had to witness BoPsie this mourning was distraught. It was raining and Raffles was nowhere to be scene. Not even a snort or a morsel of food had been touched. Nothing had turned. Raffles was missing. Gone. She has been up and down the street so many times meow, that BoP has lost count.

4 Interview over, done and dusted. Don't know why I should bother, as it seems Clegg Head will raid my pension anyway!

3 Tonight, BoPsie wants a Games event. Now really she is only one win away now, from the chance of getting a sniff of two on the pounce. And I know what you lot are going to say, so there. Minces words, as one of my apostles saying has been edited by mods.

2 Oh, if you were worried about raffles, he is not one to venture far when the rains are on, and on cue, at 3:25 post meridian, he appeared, dry as a bone. BoPsie currently brushing and hand feeding him. She's been down south too longf and she has gone soft.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep. 2 nights of unbroken sleep in a row since MrN and his yappy dogs have gone.

    2) 2 loads of washing and general tidying up.

    3) Mended the Wii fit board.

    4) Stuff to charity shop.

    5) Food to the food bank trolley in Sainsburys.

    6) Sainsburys shopping.

    7) Did a couple of geocaches so I could get the travel bugs out to leave in French geocaches.

    8) New bathroom suite arrived!

    9) Post it note that smaller son's teacher had put in his school diary. "One telling off doesn't have to ruin an entire day". Underneath, in tiny writing, smaller son had written "Yes it does" !!

    10) Tasty tea of Jamie Oliver's bulghur wheat plus sweet pepper and a few prawns.

    Ampersand: A lovely post.
1.Back into work, a pleasure for me to be brave I wasn’t looking forward to it. I’ve had my leaving date confirmed, and I finish in 3 weeks when my job “goes offshore” great to have the date and scary panicky.:T
2.Had a call about a job, I’ve got an interview next week – eeek, and spoke to another recruiter.:)
    3. Dinner is err hmm a good question, the con with dh being home is I don’t know what’s left in the fridge, its spaghetti carbonara using all leftovers.:o
    4. A pleasure of sorts I’ve lost a lot of weight but not the way to go about it, but my work clothes are all baggy to the point I was continually having to “pull up” my work trousers, having to keep a bit of an eye on it as still losing weight, although still far off being any sort of waif more like a couple of waifs lol….:rotfl:
    5. I’ll save 5, seems harder on a back to work day.
  • evening all, the weather is very changeable at the moment isn't it.

Heres mine for last 2 days:

    sunday

    1. lovely warm sunshine... 3 loads washing dried on line
    2. made some home brew chocolate stout with DS
    3. hoovered and had a good tidy round
    4. day off tomorrow and DS is working from home so no need this evening to get stuff ready for work tomorrow
    5. watched QI

    Monday

    1. What a difference a day makes... lashing rain and very windy. Lots of local flooding, autumn leaves all blown off trees.

Went food shopping and because of the weather I decided to just go to As da today ... spent about the same as I would usually spend in Ald! .... some things cheaper some a bit dearer ... was pleasantly surprised at the cost and I got everything I wanted whereas I usually find a few things out of stock at Ald!

    2. glad to get home.... I was soaked to the skin, stripped off wet clothes and put on snugly jogging bottoms and warm cardi, soon warmed up. Heating still off... it hasn't been cold enough yet thankfully

    3. reduced hot deli chicken drumsticks (3 for 70p) with salad and crusty bread for lunch

    4. rain stopped about 4pm and the sun came out, so I pegged some washing out for a couple of hours. Mostly dry and will finish off on airers

    5. stuffed marrow for tea ... nom nom
