  • Life will return to some normality

Ok Jenny is on overdrive then :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls That sorted then. Enter rooms at your own risk. Suppers of Cupboreds, DD, delete. If it is important, they will get to you. No Pitside Sagas please. Toast the homemaid bread, or let them eat cake. Jigsaws of life. BoP game that, you can finish a Jigsaw. Another log for the fire, thinks was toast done of the fire for the egg. Shops to drop stuff at. No cutting in slacks though. An upside down storm, careful with the bundle of fluff.

5 Missing the Salt mine this day, the electronic super pavement provides connectivity. Amazing this, just like being at the Salt mine without leaving home. Where is me cup of tea BoPsie. BoP Speaketh to the nation.

4 This morning was full of oaty goodness, and I am telling you lot again, it is what you put on the innards that count. Organic oats are fuelling BoP this day. Oh, and a blackcurrant jammed crumpet as well, with real butter, aged and dated April 11. Goodness for all. BoP hath eaten.

3 Documents being reviewed for the mine of salt today. Like what you educationalists do, except I get paid for it. My marker pen is everywhere, well the electronic pen version is. Loads of nonsense and bumpf deleted. BoP has opined.

2 Nite is another match for the Mariners, PM to DD. UTM. Wireless will be on for Lord Tondeur, live from Parc Blundell BoP will listen. Oh and BoPsie has booked a Scrabble event as well, please remember that currently BoPsie remains one win away from being in a shout of two on the pounce.

1 Pound for Pound, as it is one to get up over the frogs over, still sold in 1lb tins. Got the black treacle in. Out of the strong came forth goodness

    Afternoon

Hugs to VJsmum, Caterina and CCP

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Forgot to get anything out of the freezer for dinner so popped into Lidl on way home and got a few bits in there.
    2. Mad hour in the kitchen when got home - Did meatballs and pasta for dinner plus prepared beef casserole to go in slow cooker this morning and did a chicken, bacon and pepperoni mix to use in wraps or with pasta for lunches. Also got the washing in off the line and more washing in the machine.
    3. DD brought cake home from work as they had done a mcmillan coffee morning. Cookies and cream three layer cake, very yum.
    4. Managed to write a letter at work I had been putting off doing because I thought it would be more difficult than it was plus I felt a bit uncomfortable with it. The letter is to chase debtors and while I know its my job to do this I find it very difficult. To make up for the horrible letter writing I made some charity matched funding payments on behalf of the company.
    5. Nice chat with mum who was sounding much better than on Friday. She gets her medication in blister packs for each day so she doesn't miss anything or take too much of anything, only the chemist has put an extra tablet in each day so she was rather high by the end of last week. She was having withdrawal symptoms over the weekend but seems to be better now. Can feel a very strongly worded letter coming on as this is the second time this year they have got it wrong.

Today has been another yucky day as had call from friend H to say her new baby boy had been rushed into hospital for an operation. The good news is he is through surgery but doing more tests. I was able to help a little in getting her some free parking at the hospital as she parked in one of our company spaces as it was costing them £20 a day to park, which I think is disgusting. They have enough to worry about without getting into debt as well. Rant over for now.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi all pleased to be back after my weekend away, we all say it but it's true, there's nothing like your own bed.
Hope all are well and enjoying this lovely weather, it was sunny but much colder oop norf, I was glad of me long johns ;)

    1. Had a good drive up to Yorkshire on Friday, first time using a satnav and was very, umm - interesting? He (Mr G) and I had several little spats about how many times I should be told to 'turn left', 'keep right' etc., but nice to have someone to talk to (argue with?!) on a long drive
    2. Helped friends move house on Sat/Sun, they've gone from one beautiful village to the next, only a few minutes drive but the scenery was just breathtaking. What a beautiful part of the world to visit, and what fun it was making their lovely new, albeit 150-year-old house into a home.
    3. Went to a market on Saturday afternoon and a carboot on Sunday morning. I had to get up at 6.30am!!! Pleased I did though as it was lovely to see one of the friends I stayed with enjoy her first ever car boot sale. I also found a couple of books I needed to finish a series I've been ready over the past few months.
    4. Yesterday morning we went to their old house to find the cats, we felt like cat catchers creeping up on them end enticing them with treats! Both eventually came like lambs and took their travel sickness tabs with no trouble.
    5. Left there mid morning to travel across to Lancs to visit DS and his OH on the way home. Got a guided tour of their new cars, they're both very smart! Had a quick lunch and a couple of brews (I love that word, I think I'll keep it) and met their new Springer Spaniel, an 18 month old whirling dervish! Sadly I couldn't see the DGC as they were at school and I needed to get the cats home but left them a big tin of sweeties to enjoy.
    6. Did the whole weekend on one tank of petrol, averaged 53.1mpg. Very happy with that.
    7. Collected muttley from the dog sitter this morning, so far there has only been one minor spat between him and one of the cats. they're all used to cats/dogs so fingers crossed they'll soon settle down with each other.

Have a good rest of the day :)
  • mhagster - happy eyebrows! Fleece blankets for pup? Aw! Has joined you [hurray!] & is a lot of work [er, yes.] Then major organised street fair event? Rest up as far as pup permits! (May we know the name?) Pups do bonkers o'clock too? (Had thought that a toddler thing.) Aw ironing airy dressed as Katie Morag - splendid escapist fantasy! Delighted to hear you being rewarded for being a nice boss (despite your boss!) & time spent chatting with physio probably worth a wetting.
CCP - rain & not having to go out in it always a pleasure (though I confess to almost deliberately mis-reading feathery balls.) The occasional lazy day is good for you! Fourpaws & fleeces... Always nice when a heavy job turns out lighter than feared - well done sorting weeds by door! Back to work usually hard, but to be met with sad news too? Phew plait in freezer!
VJSmum - Love that "Two tarts!" - being exhausted by a spa day definitely worth it. Hurrah on ready to let DD go & drattit-to-the-hills re:speeding ticket. Did fifaboxmabob get delivered in time for lunch with the girls? [yes!] Has DD listened to your financial advice? (At least got the site weblink in case?!) Huge congratulations on launching young bird, barrels of vino & acres of linen to swig & mop as needed but yes, she is happy & you will all get used to it. <suddenly glad of cold as sniffs not raising eyebrows> She's started. Glad you downpegged law boff & stay solid on minor mutiny.
ampersand - putah misbehaving? Hurrah lass sorting meds when on-line gone boink. You golf too? Delighted HMRC allowing you to relocate NZ delights sans import duty & o what an epistle (circulate a copy for the edification of us young 'uns?!) Ploughing match? Offcuts into kneelers & banners - that's wonderful & against old stone, brighter still. Sorry blackberry being mouldy with you. Swahili learnt & sung? Awe!
Broomstick - so pleased to see you! Glad surgery done & you are onto the sleep & recuperation bit - keep those fleeces handy! Pears falling from tree can be cooked in red wine to soften a little. Yippee royalties cheque, sweeter still for surprise. Putting bedding on the line? There's courage. Share your grin & scheming for pinecones. (Why wait for plastic bags? Or has your car got a biological layer already too?) Beech responds well to sanding & oiling - have faith a smashing worktop will emerge! Golly DS2 presenting bag of outgrown stuff. <Must train mine better!>
sparrer - delighted to hear DD a super cook, the crumble sounds utterly delicious & love the idea that ageing has its advantages! How's this year's Flu Jab? (I got a call-up & am dithering a bit.) Awed by the domestic goddess stuff! Good for you bickering with SatNav - I'm ruthlessly 'polite' to mine, thanking it for the advice. (Makes offspring curl up cringing!) Glad you enjoyed Lancashire too & all on one tank!
Westywoodpecker - yippee - that looks like a recipe I can cook! Thank you! So sorry DS has heart broken but glad he seems to have moved on. Hubby did take you out for tea?!
BoP - Odlin snorkers? <shalt not covet posters snorkers> Hope a good night at Camera club comp! Golf too? Right with you on History, but engineers live it... Peaceful & helpful - ach, we're doomed. Enjoy the trifles while we may. Jacket will still fit? <Muffled splutter of laughter> Raffles eschewed the shrew? Fingers crossed for you for Monday. Live Scrabble? <hopeful!>
villagelife - walks with my dog sound absolutely glorious. (Esp compared with staggerings with my teenager.) Enjoying a coffee sounds an excellent move too. Paperwork like exercise easier if done daily in small amounts. (I combine, dragging files upstairs in stages.) Mist along the river & home picked roses sounds utterly glorious. Christmas started with cards? (Mine with Lego for stockings! Must drop heavier hints.)
DundeeDoll - intrigued by a shy student bouncing like the penguin - which: Animal, Publisher, Batman's evildoer? Other? Strongbow on draught - flashbacks to younger times where a hangover & toddlers were in Different Universes. Batch cooking sounds wonderful <I must try harder> Ah - weblink. Cheating at knitting? Sounds blinking complex, but thems Hurchers for you. Blimey that's a *lot* of email. Where do you find time to teach?! (Hoping most of that 908 was sorting the new ones.)
Skint yet Again - sop up that natural Vitamin D! Shed keys will emerge, so await & enjoy naps & laughter. Holiday hurtles - always. Brilliant car insurance shopping. Time out with friends & a curry - full bowl of happiness?!
Tealady - so sorry a former colleague left you all thus. Always a shock. Hurrah great nephew visibly growing & thriving & all in the quiet of t'internet - bliss! Have fun on IOW... Biscuits with rainbows sound wonderful & generous relations can take a while to dawn. Shield a bit so it doesn't *all* go on motors?! Welcome H's baby son! Delegate some of the really awkward letters? Not the necessary one to the pharmacy though. Bless you sorting parking for H's mum amidst all her other worries - more virtual hugs!
Frith - awed that brother can command homework. At all. Hurrah smaller son's efforts appreciated! Good to read invasion of France planning going well & yum, shepherds pie & crumble. Brignorth geocache And Macmillans? Splendid time & placing! Happy birthday eldest - we permit Staying Up to unwrap (and sending others to bed) when school next day but cooked breakfast sounds much nicer! Blight father *forgetting* but kudos 14 yo resigned rather than rowdy-physical-slamming strop. Owch sideways just the same. You lifeline for your brother as he chainsaws? There's sibling love & trust. Mild birthday party envy - my do was tiny but right for us.
VickyA - marble cake for Macmillan, eh? Not sure what my lot have planned but every confidence it'll be delicious. "Walking Home" has good reviews so far. Happy Birthday nephew - splendid pretext for pizza. Critique Strictly & let the menfolk be... Ooooh, Dubai. Well, the summer just been was splendid prep for 24 c plus.
bagpuss - 4 children & You're going to Uni? Well done! Well done DD1 being stoic. So sorry glass barely half full & hope the young hug *you* better forthwith. Glad virtual hugs have also helped. Red velvet cake sounds incredible! DS has an eye on Dublin?! Isn't that Foreign? With an odd currency & all?
supersaver - most departures are like pregnancy - a long wait & in the last few hours you can hardly wait for them to shift! Hurrah, you graduate-to-be! Take up offers of help - they can be wonderful for so much from spellchecking the cv through to introductions to seriously useful folk. Decluttered bedroom? <Awe.>
swampmonster - hope you manage to get a bike for your daughter. Fingers crossed & betadine ready...
marmite - hurrah defeating the cold & whoopee on very reduced silk scarves! (Splendid to post if you have to, as well!)
mcculloch - glad you're well & Borrowing from Pratchett! Congratulations on weight loss & consequentially restored trousers & hear hear enjoying a good read of a cookbook.
caterina - the builders are gone & the kitchen not yet finished? Well done finding tranquillity in Scotland & sorting the bath sealant. You have *wonderful* menfolk.
chrisfreelander - welcome! Hurrah for cooperative shift pattern & well done cheering on DD12 with sewing machine! Jigsaws w DS7 sound wonderful!

    OS Pleasures recently
Listening to a tired man snore. Poor soul's tuckered out & hearing him get some of the rest he needs? The snore is almost cute.

"Wonky chomp" - some kind of pet treat I gather. Just sounds ridiculous & funny!

Being recognised as back in store Already - "Teenagers!", "Ah!"... Still, the pharmacist reassures me this Bug is Known. Fluids, painkillers - all in play, it's just the Rest bit I struggle with.

Email with photo of baby cousin apparently sat up & roaring with laughter! Family resemblance uncanny down to clear view of every (future) tooth at the full laugh.

Still got an aspersion in flower, a valiant little splash of colour welcoming me home.

The nurse at the burn clinic placing me *absolutely* as mother of son. Yes, he was terrifyingly like my baby photos when small, but I'd thought he'd outgrown that. Seemingly not.

Tie-dying things as part of a new museum display opening. (I just wanted to pay in a cheque & pick up some more Lego - we ended up doing all that en route to a museum!) Now have 2 startling handkerchieves & several spectacular lengths of very colourful string!

The grins, the hugs, the uninhibited delight when I get the computer to disgorge the desired film, book, photo. Some days, it's good being Mummy Geek.

Discussing recruiting for Scouts - both young folk & leaders. I was all for reiving, blackmail & bribery & my trainer queried if this was proper to Scouts - likely not, but effective as mothering techniques!

Putting together a Playmobil person from a packet of bits. I now have a little Roman gladiator to illuminate my birthday cake. (One year, a child wanted a small cake rather than a Costco triumph & we agreed on a Star Wars figure instead of candles. Siblings crooned & since then, cakes have characters not candles.)

"Mum, I've decided to be an elephant". Declares son wearing a bag on his nose... Truly the ways of boychicks are Baffling.

Ha! I am a year younger than I thought. (Draws thick cloak over numeracy!) Mere stripling, me. (At heart, about 7... !)

Small car with big plant from office sticking out of passenger window. Leaves rustling as the car staggers away from lights. Drivers behaving beautifully as they try not to let the chuckle reach the steering wheel.

The hazel trees are a glorious mix of yellow & green leaves. Make me think of picking lemons, not Autumn!

Big hugs to all who need them, extras freely available & as virtual, no risk of this blasted bug biting. Compatible with 5:2 & other forms of eschewing, and also combines well with pain relief.

Hope your day off has gone well, VJsmum.

BoP - good Christmas cards but I feel duty bound to order mine from Autism West Midlands!

Sorry to hear your mum was unwell, Tealady and hope she feels better now the tablets are sorted out. I hope your friend's baby gets well soon and good news about the parking (charging for hospital parking dreadful at any time).

Ooo, Yorkshire, Sparrer! Haven't been there in donkey's years. Have never been to Lancashire.

DfV - lots of nasturtiums here and happy birthday!

Pleasures for today, while it's quiet:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Text from smaller son's communication centre teacher saying he wants to drop French (after a month!) Not too happy about this as he doesn't do PE or music already (has 1 to 1 special teaching during those times). I know he hates art and I don't want him giving everything up! I texted that I wasn't sure and asked if he can learn an instrument (peripatetic lessons by himself). Mrs Communication Centre is going to talk to me about it on Thursday and find out about music lessons.

    3) Had hair cut - hoorah! Went from straggly bob (stupid fine hair) to a pixie cut again. Then had the DfV thing of seeing myself in shop windows and thinking "Why isn't bigger son at school? Why is he looking at me through that shop window?!"

    4) Obviously with several inches of hair off, then had to get my eyebrows threaded!

    5) Spent bigger son's Halfords voucher for him. I was presented with a long letter with various options that I was to discuss with Halford's staff so hope I got the right thing.

    6) Stopped at local nursery for 3 cyclamen plants to update the existing ones a bit. Reverbed a pound coin by my car.

    7) Sorted out using mobile phone when we go to France (they hadn't been invented last time I went abroad!)

    8) Phoned bank and sorted out how to use bank card when we go to France.

    9) Phoned Autism West Midlands and have hired their sensory room so smaller son can spend an hour in there before we go to the Birmingham National Trust Back to Backs.

    10) Phoned the local theatre and booked 3 tickets to Oliver! Will keep that trip as a surprise.

    11) Almost had a really nice tea. Had steak sandwiches with peppers, tomatoes and blue cheese. Steak tough as anything, though.

    12) Bracing myself to help bigger son with 2 different homeworks. Looking forward to Holby City later.
  • Well done VJsMam, and Frith. That has pennies away from the Emporium ATSM filthy fingers.

    Give direct. Boycott the Emporiums.

Happy day of cake for DfV. The Jacket, of curse, I can grow back into it!
  • DFV happy birthday

    1. NSD

    2. Got through the day at work - it just seemed very long and hard going today.

    3. Salad for lunch.

    4. Ham in cherry coke cooking for tea which I will have with jacket spuds.

    5. Good walk this morning - my dog happy to go a bit further than usual.
