A very belated Happy Birthday DfV. Flu jab was fine, I have it every year as I'm on the risk list, so am grateful to the NHS for offering the service.
Lancs doesn't sound very interesting Frith but it has some very beautiful lakes and coastal areas to visit. Hope you get there one day
Almost porridge (or gruel as the family calls it) season BoP :D
Congrats on your new family member mhags, he'll bring you lots of fun
Pleased you're home now PK, hope the work situation isn't too uncomfortable for you
VJsmum good luck for Sunday, everything x'ed for you

    1. Started to clear the bedroom ready for a complete new look to be started next week. Wardrobes/shelves/shoes done, then had to rummage through the huge suitcase of shoes in the spare bedroom for the ones I wanted to wear
    2. Took a dog cage to DD, donated by my friend in Yorks, pleased to get the rattly thing out of my car
    3. DD's usually lean Jindo is fat! Well pregnant, poor thing is due to whelp in a week and looks like she's swallowed a bowling ball. The pub where DD works is taking bets on date, sexes, quantity etc., all moneys going to CLIC Sargent, their regular charity. DD is also raising money for the charity by giving up alcohol for the month of October, she's already raised £150 and it's only day 1! She doesn't drink much so it's really no hardship for her ;)
    4. Postie brought me a letter from my gas/elec supplier which I changed to a several months ago at Martin's suggestion. I was paying £91, quite a bit more than the previous company so I was none too pleased. However today's letter told me my dual fuel bill is going down to £58 a month and they owe me over £200! Will leave it there as it gives me a buffer for the winter and withdraw whatever is left over at the next bill. Thank you, Martin :money:
    5. Dog'n'mogs seem to have settled down well together, the mogs haven't wanted to go outside yet, they run away from the garden door when I open it. I'll leave it open when I'm planting out the winter bedding in the morning and see if they're brave enough to join me. Just hope they don't take off!

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Thanks DfV for your good advice and belated Happy Birthday 🎉🎂

I had a not bad sleep last night
And I also read some of my homework, and enjoyed it!
Have had a good spend week this week, not bad as I'm trying to save for DDs birthday
Feeling much more comfortable in my new job - it's taken a little while for the stress of the last one to go,
But I am now almost back to normal service

Sparrer I too am having flu jab, but am scared reading of bad effects.

Bop an oat cookie recipe would be good please. I have an oatmeal one, but would prefer to use my MrL oats. 😄. Hmm I guess I could just try substitution.

    Afternoon

    Pleasures for yesterday,

    1. Last of the crumpets toasted with butter for breakfast, yummy
    2. Ordered some bits online for DD birthday, really don't know what to get her this year so may be money but like to have a few bits for her to open.
    3. Finally managed to sort out a problem at work that should have been simple but wasn't. Any way had a lovely text of person who I was working on behalf off to say thank you and it also mean't I didn't have to travel to the other side of London today.
    4. Yummy sausage and pasta soup for dinner and enough left for my lunch today.
    5. Have worked out I have enough holiday left to take every Friday off until the end of the year. Just need to get boss to agree to it :D

Hugs to all who need them

    pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Off to Worcester to see my school friend. Her identical twin sister's son has just gone through a complicated operation at Birmingham Children's hospital but is coming on well.

    3) Popped in to see other school friend (the one who visits on Sundays) to talk about her job interview.

    4) Took bigger son to climbing (in the sport's hall at my old high school) and he has passed level 3. Now he's 14 he can do a competency course which means he can climb anywhere. And it's been subsidised so I'll pay £10 for those 10 weeks instead of the £42 I have been paying!

    5) There was an open evening on at my old school so we sneaked up there for a nose about and saw the DT teacher who was there when I started in 1986! We thought he was about 50 back then but turns out he is only 52 now. :-/

    1) Reverbed 1p.

    2) Chatting to a nice lady at the counselling session this evening and she is going to try to find someone who can help with the problems I'm having at work at the moment. :T

    3) My 'new thing' for today (I try to do / learn something new every day if possible) was not very OS - dinner from the drive-thru window of a fast food place. I'm glad I've done it, even thought it reminded me why I almost never eat fast food (I prefer my food to actually taste of something. :undecided)

    4) Got most of a tube of anti-flea stuff on Isis without the usual feline hysterics.

(And, talking of Isis - your new mogs remind me of her, sparrer - it took me 6 months to persuade her to try going outside and, even now, she'd rather stay in if given the choice!)
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Frith - so pleased your friend's nephew is on the mend.

Today I had to drive a minibus with my class on board. Apparently, they were all amazed that I can drive something so big. Huge kudos when I arrived at school driving it. An added bonus was that I didn't grind the gears and we got there and back with no issues! :j :j

    My pleasures for the day:

    1) Walked to pick up the minibus this morning on the other side of town (admittedly only took 25 mins!). Meant that I had a 25 min walk back this evening when I dropped it off again.

    2) Only 2 miles driven in my own car - to fill up with petrol and go via Mr T's for a box of branflakes. There's a mouse called Mr VickyA who seems to munch his way through my branflakes. He has a minor wobble when I touch "his" weetabix box though. :rotfl:

    3) Baked a cake using a "natural sugar substitute" which I've been asked to trial. Apparently it doesn't have an impact on the rainforests - nor does the sugar I normally buy as it's British from sugar beet!!! Anyway, if this stuff is ok then we might get some of it for our school baking group from a local company.

    4) Sausages (from freezer, left over from the summer) with HM tomato and courgette stew for supper. The courgettes in the stew were home grown - another item from the freezer!

    5) Picked up some Yellow sticker items when I picked up the branflakes... They're now in the freezer!

    Night all

VickyA, that's brave driving a minibus full of children!:) Don't think I would dare do anything like that any more.

    Five pleasures for Thursday:

    1. Much better session at the sports club tonight. Last week was very low on energy.

    2. Caught up on University Challenge on iplayer.

    3. Treated myself to a little bottle of orange and mango juice.

    4. Very helpful and supportive chat with one of the dads at the club. We have some lovely families involved.

    5. Managed to shake off the impending migraine I'd been growing all morning by putting myself back to bed in a darkened room at lunchtime. Despite a long daytime sleep I think I'm ready for bed again now. :D

    Sweet dreams

    1. Slept in til 9am as I was reading in bed, one of those can't put it down books, and fell asleep as some point in the night so enjoyed my late morning
    2. Made a pasta bake in a roasting tin, had one portion for dinner and put seven in the freezer.
    3. Was beginning to think the luxury beds I bought for Frankie and Finn (Franklin and Finlay) would be a waste of money as they both seemed to prefer the dining chairs - padded seats and well hidden by the table-cloth - but came down from my shower this evening to find Finn curled up asleep in one. Although considerably bigger than Frankie he's the more timid of the two so I'm pleased he's come out from his hiding place. Frankie has taken up sentry duty on the stairs so I have to watch my ankles every time I go up or down!
    4. Planted some hanging baskets and troughs with Winter flowering pansies ans cyclamen, bought from the same outlet I used last year and those lasted until Spring so hoping for the same results this time. They were b2gof (I often wonder why they don't just bring the price down) and a free bag of potting compost because I bought 6 trays.
    5. Glorious yellow thing appeared mid morning and stayed til teatime. I'm told it will get colder this weekend so I'm making the most of the drying and gardening weather while it's here

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Sparrer a lovely post:), I’m also in line for the flu jab but I can’t have it for 6 weeks now after being laid up..
Feeling even better today, on a prescribed painkiller but it’s helping.:)
    1.
DH decided to deep steam clean our bedroom all furniture out to move the bed around while he set to on the carpet, I used soapy water on the furniture and then set to with a coat of wood polish to protect it, washed the doors etc. What started this was a “we would like to do this that and the other to the house but the budget will only allow us to do the kitchen this year.:o So we decided we had better at least clean up what we have as it will be here another year or so, it’s great getting the dirt up and feels like we have achieved but also err makes it feel overdue.:o
    2. Bedding through the washing machine, and deep cleaned the washing machine on a hot wash with distilled vinegar. :)
    3. Made comfort food of a cottage pie, it was lovely.:p
    4. Waiting to be paid tomorrow to then order a mattress.
    5. DH gardening planting the plants we bought back from the steam fair earlier this month, an unusual tree is going to be our memorial to our very special guy who passed away in July, and around the base I’ve planted bulbs of autumn crocus’s, snake skin lilys and spring crocus’s in the idea he will be colourful all year and in the place he loved looking out for us.:)
