I wrote and lost a long post on Friday night so shall summarise my weekend pleasures.

We've got a puppy! Oh my goodness....gorgeous but we've forgotten how much hard work they are !

Had a nice day off on Friday, lovely drive in beautiful Victorian countryside to get pup and nice drive back with puppy cuddles.

Workety work yesterday was alright. Lots of preparation for ....

A very busy day today, I've been up and at'em since 5am. It was our work town's street festival and we were incredibly busy! My first major organised event as manager there, all went well, earned more money than last year....and then we

Went out for dinner, most paid by tips, so we all just had to chip in $10 each ( about a fiver) ....got 10% discount too by brass neckedly asking for it. As fellow street traders the owner gives us discount but he wasn't in so chanced my luck !

Never been so glad to get home! Another 50 hour week done and dusted. Not so many hours this coming week.

    Have a lovely day x

Thank you all for the hugs much appreciated

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Pancakes with bacon and sausage cooked into them for late breakfast
    2. Busy afternoon helping at rainbow fun day. The theme was Charlie and the chocolate factory, I was on decorating biscuits so we did an edible garden theme. Lots of coconut dyed green used.
    3. Fish and chips for dinner at in laws, very yummy and followed by an aldi chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.
    4. In laws have just helped oh sister buy a flat so wanted to make bother the same so even though they gave us a very generous gift earlier in the year they gave us an even more generous cheque yesterday. Hasn't sank in yet but think it has for oh as he is busy looking at cars.
    5. Last but not least my lovely friend H had a baby boy yesterday, so pleased for her

    Blue Eyes

On your bikes, broken spokes! blackberry and T. Naughty not getting things done &. Pears. Geocache. Red sky, in the morning, fisherman's warning. Mortgage news. Busy does.

5 Just had bacon and egg banjo (in sandwich) in the emporium of w8rz. Nice squirty version as well. Lovely. And while in the emporium, just had to luck at the foam drinks on offer. Oh well, BoPsie got herself into the reduced items, and we grabbed with all hands, two sea bass fillets and a pork pie. Now, as BoPsie loves her BoP, she gots me a trifle as well. All reduced. And the oranges were reduced as well. All in this week for the mega sum of £38. Now it was up a lot this week, because BoPsie batteries have run out, so got some of them as well. £10 worth.

4 Raffles has adopted his day role, and is in between the keybored and the screen. He just comers in, spins and is flopped in one. He silently purrs away. He is too cool these days, and very choice with his foods. He is the two in ten cat!

3 Watched a western last, 4 for Texas. Had BoPsies favourite Dean Martin. Frank and Charles Bronson. Was full of fisty cuffs. Also had Ursula in it as well, that lass of Dr No fame! Well, BoP ... careful as BoPsie does know about the parish.

2 Day I was in two minds about the doing a pudding, so as BoPsie has got the trifles in, we will have them instead.

1 If the human race wishes to have a prolonged and indefinite period of material prosperity, they have only got to behave in a peaceful and helpful way toward one another. wc

    1) Nice lie-in - last one as I'm back at work tomorrow. :(

    2) Realised how much I'm dreading going back so signed up for a few more job sites in the hope of finding something better soon.

    3) NSD and NPD.

    4) Cleared some weeds from the drain outside my front door: I've been putting it off for weeks as I though it would really hard work, but it took me only a couple of minutes.

    5) One of my favourite dinners tonight - pasta with pesto, bacon and tomatoes, with LOs planned for work lunch tomorrow.
Back after a very long break!

    1. Just finished doing grass in near dark. Good feeling. & likes outside at this soft air going-down time of day. Robin stayed with me, fluttering and investigating close to, despite mower. Sang lustily each time I stopped to empty catcher for compost and followed.

    2. 2 near villages are Blogsett Parva and Blogsett Polis. & set off for 10h Kenyan HC Harvest service at Parva, only to find it was@Polis, but it was fine, 'cos others hadn't quite arrived either. I'd overtaken Dr M on his bicyclette several miles back. Beautiful day again and hadn't known there was simple Kenyan/Mara-style lunch after. Swahili learnt and sung:-) Lovely gustatory lilt and sway in the cadences.

    3. Getting to know other people's lives in leisurely way over shared meal - without exception interesting, often unsuspected.

4.. Next 'didn't know' was Harvest barbecue at yet another place in benefice, 15 h. Again so good. Lots of Fen farmers in our lot; their take on this bumper year, which also has its downsides. Too dry for some things. Beetroot too big for buyers, have been ploughed in. Munchy beetles shouldn't be here any more, but are adaptable night breeders. loving Indian summer and EC No Systemic Controls, daytime spraying only, is giving them free rein and they're ground burrowers, laying up trouble for next spring. On verra. But our singing rang loud and appreciative of this year's harvest, this beautiful day, golden light filtering through very ancient glass, the scent and sight of produce, wheat, tools, large pics from Mara....
OS pleasures, OS awareness of them.

    5. Finished my v.g book by Josephine Humphreys, many more lined up:-))))) Listened to golf en route between venues and back here. Great Win/retain. When I set off, the board was largely red!
    #
vjm - imagine you've safely left your chick and may be home again now. Big hugs and bottle of good red, decent glass, at the ready here:-). Just shout.
frith - have checked out &obile's route to Redditch. I'll be on auto-pilot after Spits, so fingers crossed for no Friday horrors, which the A14 can be counted upon to furnish....on verra.
bop - Winston's words are spot on. We are not humble, don't listen. As a species, we are fools unto ourselves.
ccp - dread feeling deffo. needs new horizons, so well done for grasping nettle. Life is too short.

-and &'s match hostelry, The Alma, sponsors Shelford's Ladies. Recognise French girl's name and pic in hier's prog. She's<Toulon:-)))) and mutual recognition was a rpt coincidence with half a dozen or so at Twick. and Dub. matches last year AND The Alma.

Not sure what I want just now, feel I should have something, but maybe not.
Coming week = October. Not sure how that's happened.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

The weekend has flown by once more and it's nearly time for Downton Abbey! That signifies the end of the weekend for me...

However, pleasures have plentiful this weekend but I'll give you an overview:

    1) Nephew was 10, so we had family celebrations, which included...

    2) Meal out for a pizza deal, paid for by MIL & FIL.

    3) Other SIL and I caught up with Strictly Come Dancing together as she and her other half stayed over. Both she and I were delighted to have someone serious to critique each dance with! DH (her bro!) and her boyfriend were rolling their eyes at us as we gave our Len-type comments. :rotfl:

    4) Lunch out today with the family again.

    5) Trying to sort out a meal plan for the week, whilst using up what is in cupboards, fridge and freezer! I *think* I'm just about there!

    Night all. xxx

  • Evening all. :D

    Five quick pleasures for Sunday:

    1. Woke early and got tons of houseworky stuff done before we had to go out including washing my bedding and getting it on the line.

    2. Parked in amongst the trees in a wooded area by the sports centre where we were working and the ground was covered with pine cones. Next time I'm there, I'll take plastic bags and collect them for the fire. No time today but just seeing them, in such numbers, made me smile.

    3. Some very nice chats with parents at the sports afternoon.

    4. Visit to my parents afterwards. They provided us with a lovely supper. We hadn't seen them in a while because the start of term has been so busy so it was good to catch up.

    5. Clean sheets on the bed tonight.:D

    Sweet dreams

    V quick update!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Swept up outside, did weeding, planted tulip bulbs, watered everything (bone dry).

    3) Thorough clean and tidy of the living room.

    4) Listened to the Archers whilst cleaning.

    5) Went to local National Trust place and found 2 geocaches. Also had a cup of tea. Was perfect weather. Didn't get to look in the house at all! (I have been before a few times). Got some windfall apples too.

    6) School friend came round. She had been to her niece's birthday party (born the same day, different year as bigger son) and brought us HM marshmallows, macarons and cakes. Her sister in law was a pastry chef, trained (born) in Latvia and her food is always marvellous.

    7) School friend caught first enormous spider in a glass (I had to find a bigger glass!) I got the second with the vacuum cleaner.

Bigger son is now 14! I'm going to get up early and make a before school cooked breakfast. :-)

A bit of upset today. I bought bigger son a second hand bike on Thursday, for his birthday. His father saw it and immediately went out and bought smaller son a bike (although he already has one!) Bigger son is particularly annoyed as his father has forgotten his birthday this year. :-/ He is quite resigned to his father's shenanigans and said "For my birthday I am watching C on his new bike"...
