Hello All
I have been away feeling sorry for myself - or licking me wounds as the cat might say.
Feeling a bit more myself now, and I absolutely love this thread so I hope you'll not mind me coming back in? You're such a lively positive bunch.
I've tried to catch up a bit, but VJsMUM thanks for your post, it caught me up a bit, but you DD is leaving for uni,my dd is nearly 15 and I am starting to brace myself. Sorry too Bag puss to hear about your DDs job
.
I have some pleasures to report though, I love it when a plan comes together...
1. I have started my degree, it's a third year top up which should take 18 months to 2 years as it's part-time. Lol I'm gonna be a graduate!
2. My student loan was approved, although it was for the wrong course. I've called the uni and they are going to sort it with SLC as I was having no joy with them.
3. DD seems to be getting more involved with activities. I've worried a lot as she spends a lot of time on her own. She likes it, but I worry. This year she seems to be coming out of her shell.
4. I've found a couple of permanent jobs in other companies to apply for as mine runs out next year.
5. I've had some offers of help from really good people in my organisation to help me get jobs in my org or elsewhere.

Arrrrgh. Radio silence has been declared. The BBC are rubbish. No coverage of the rider paint pot completion. Arrrgh. BoP not happy. This broadcaster and hawks alike have been making up stories since the stun reporter was asked to drink up his pint and boo gar off Sunday 2nd May 1982 from the Wheatsheaf. Oh, and before someone jumps on. The stun was snubbed by its absence long before those in another plaice could read!

I'm sorry to hear about your former colleague, Tealady.
Here are my pleasures for yesterday:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the allotment to water in the greenhouse and took home onions, tomatoes and courgettes. One courgette plant seems to be having a second wind and keeps growing!
3) Sainsburys.
4) Got bigger son's bike for his birthday. :-) We get our bikes from a charity where people with learning disabilities do the renovating.
5) Brother came round to babysit sons and made bigger son do some homework. I think I'm going to have to ask school to make him stop in at lunchtimes to do it for a while. He was rude to brother and cycled off!! before coming back and doing the bare minimum...
6) Went to smaller son's settling in parent evening. He got Bs for effort in everything and an A for French!
7) Made chilli and wraps for tea.
8) Enjoyed watching Who Do You Think You Are?
Hi Frith.
Would you mind telling me where the bike charity you went to is as my daughter wants another bike but haven't really got much cash at the moment.
Many thanks0 -
Hi, swampmonster. It's called Spokes and is on the main road between Stourport and Kidderminster. (Behind the ludicrously expensive new council offices)
Adult bikes are £60-70. Children's bikes are cheaper - not sure as my sons are adult sized!0 -
Not long in. A bit petrolish today, but lots done
pre-1. After delayed rasp. pick[another ho-hum kg plus], took pic of strawberry invader in 3-thyme pot with 1 berry ripe, 2 ripening, 3 green, and a flower - that's how it is on 27 Sept this year.
1. Lingered past ploughing match on way>Spits banking.
2. Car unloaded at my remote, yet near, unguessable storage, which I thank my lucky stars for every single time. £150 p.a.
3. Dropped off another bag of remnants/upholstery offcuts/haberdashery to M-J at their wonderful ancient beamed longhouse. Special service over road in Church there tmrw for our Mara linked Diocese. M-J has lead/encouraged children to sew and stitch all the new kneelers and banners, dynamic, colourful, pictorial, lovely = esp. in this ancient place, from C13th.
4. Blackberry back to MrT. They couldn't get it to work/charge either, but after 40 mins tinkering, something hinted at non-dead...trying again tonight. 4 chargers tried, inc. 2 car, nil nil nil. BUT, maybe this time....?
5. Thence to Shelford for a great afternoon AND a great local derby result:-)
Decent work book-end tries for Shelford. & welcomed warmly, spoilt as first time visitor. Great family club atmosphere and structure, much prandial jocundity and flowing repartee.

Made more interesting by knowing referee was being assessed too. Explained to me by chap alongside. We were watching his clipboard and pen, marking HIM and 2nd-guessing...
Chap next to me was for CU. Told me about the horror of recent £qtr million tax fraud<HMRC. 'Somebody' gulled others re:money with-held for tax and seems to have got off scot-free. Club have had to make good the loss.
Googled just now:
http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/other-sport/norfolk-rugby/cambridge_rugby_club_clears_first_hurdle_in_survival_battle_1_722387
-but it has hit them, still is.
Chap couldn't bear to watch last 10 mins. When they played badly/nervily, much of match, it was sad to watch, e.g. a line-out ball going way over behind anyone's reach. Shelford should have scored more tries. Gorgeous afternoon. Yellow thing throughout.
Ryder Cup news was also broadcast at half-time:-), following which, watched it downstairs with loads of others.
Lovely time....
6. ...suitably rounded off at Lesser Spotted near emporium. Free 'cino', and only 2 no-more-plants: rtc pansy pots. big 6'' fellas, lush plants, 'colossus' and 'matrix' @ 40p each, from £3.99.

Loads also not done, but so?:-)
Another book I want not to finish, to finish:-) Bonne nuit.
Very big hugs for you tomorrow vjm, dd, ds[also growing up fast] and OH. You can't anticipate your reaction, know how you'll feel until suddenly the moment will be there, no matter how well primed you have made yourself, no matter how often you've rehearsed it in your mind. Every caring wish for what is, over and above all, dd's exciting step, earnt by her and all her own work!

Sunday post-script. Had no idea I was still up:-)))

Evening all.
Hugs from me too, Tealady.
&, that storage situation is a blessing and a half! How on earth did you find somewhere that cheap?
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Sunshine when it looked as if it was going to be a grey day.
2. Which led to armfuls of dry washing. Hooray!
3. Eating another pear from the tree in the garden. They are rock hard but I assume they're ripe since they are falling onto the ground now. Tasted lovely, if crunchy.
4. Getting a royalties cheque through the post for lending/copying rights on work written ages ago. It's such a surprise when these arrive.
5. NSD/NPD
Sweet dreams

Quick pleasures for today as it is late now:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Bridgnorth today. Nice to see a local town actually thriving - was full of people.
3) Did 4 geocaches!
4) One geocache was in the town hall (one of those town halls with the rooms upstairs, on stilts, with the market held beneath). Had a cup of tea at the MacMillan coffee morning while I was up there.
5) Had lunch by the cliff railway then looked around the castle gardens.
6) Turned off the road into the National Trust place on the way home to meet 4 cars all manouevering. Who would guess it would be closed on Saturdays?! We had a bit of a car dance, all trying to turn round between the main road and the very locked gates.
7) Unbelievably, got a bike rack for my car from a charity shop - £5!
8) Went to Sainsburys and got bigger son's birthday cake and other bits. As he will be at school, decided we shall have a cooked breakfast before he goes so got all the stuff for that.
9) Cleaned the windows.
10) Went to mum and dad's for tea.
11) Did lots of washing, bed change and the ironing.
12) Enjoyed Dr Who and Casualty.0 -
Sorry all,i'm way behind again and don't think I'll be able to catch up...
For the last week:
-after having a bad cold that lasted about 3 weeks,it's now gone.Meaning that I've been back swimming again.
-the garden is looking good.I need to get some hours in today though.
-from my raspberry bush that I planted this year,I've had a small crop of berries.I'm still getting tomatoes from six plants.
-we're having warm,sunny days here.
-I bought some items in a sale that'll do for presents for a few people -they're beautiful silk scarves that were at a very reduced price.Bargain!
-hoping to reach my nsd target today.
Happy Sunday all.0 -
1. Lovely red sky this morning - also mist along the river.
2. Had coffee and went for a walk with a friend yesterday and had a long chat
3. Arranged to meet with another friend in a couple of weeks whom I haven't seen in ages.
4. Front garden tidied - pots ready for spring with some bulbs planted.
5. Roses picked and are now in a vase and look lovely.
6. Went to the cinema - booked on line makes it slightly cheaper - to see the new Billy Connolly called something like What I did on holiday.
I enjoyed it and is written by the same people who wrote outnumbered and is similarin humour.
7. Made some soup - sweet potato, carrot and ginger Good but needs more ginger for me.0 -
Lovely sunny day today after the murky cloudy day yesterday so lots of washing in progress....
for yesterday
1. lovely chat to my DSis on phone
2. one step nearer to finishing my will ... checked my mortgage balance online and its less than I thought
3. afternoon out with a friend
4. back to friends house and shared a curry
5. found a parking space close by when I got home at 10pm. Parking is a bit of an issue locally and its often difficult if you go out in the evening, so this was a welcome change
