  • Alas, SyA &. I has bin eating Marmite crumpets since coming off the Fishermans Friends at 6 months. Did me no good that, Vitamin B12 deficiency!
  • BoP - enjoy every lungful of that ozone! Surely being full of nice clean ozone may mislead the medics & their gruesome photo gear? For B12, eat sprouts?
Frith - nothing wrong with photos at the base of the Eiffel Tower & there's always the Basilica of Sacre-Cœur, the Arc de Triomphe, Centre Georges Pompidou (art musuem top floor, of cafe 1st - your call) & the Tour Montparnasse (fastest lift in Europe apparently.) New Tractor!
ampersand - Greece & Turkey won't cost Quite as much as NZ & still mean saving, but Oh So Worth it? Loved the Doodle too. Hair at waist with scarlet streak?! Brilliant - so much more fun than the purple. When in despair, stop reading news & catch up on *all* the OS pleasures!
Tealady - "may have purchased a tablet each"! These things happen. Room with a decanter of sherry - now that's a level of care I can aspire to. Delighted to hear you having a splendid time!
VickyA - checked your Head knows to wear waterproof mascara?! Osprey project sounds incredible & inspiring! May seaside hotel be marvellous whatever the weather!
DundeeDoll - quite reliable will have to do but yikes! I've known of music in dairies for some time - not least as someone did try Heavy Metal & it wasn't good for milk production. Educational environments - now that surely varies by subject as well as learning style?!
Skint yet Again - creosote great fun & happily scrubbable from skin. Home colouring sounds terrifying! Have a lovely week off & spend *some* time idle?

    OS Pleasures
Saw a new photo of baby cousin in Canada on book of face - she's just glorious!

Nudged a colleague in this site's direction when she was enumerating all the family she Has to get Presents for. Chirps of "oooh!" and "hm" are now to be heard...

Parking Gods watched over me as I went to get another fix of Lego. Oooh, that lovely rustling crackle as another handful of packets goes into the Stockings bag!

My car is dribbling coolant, and there's now a bag to stop bottles thumping around as much in my boot - where previously it sounded like I'd kidnapped someone!

The desk I'm at today has a mug with a nice idea - "It isn't they years in your life that count, but the life in your years!"

Big hugs to all who need them, yippee yellow stuff & Happy Jewish New Year!

Hello, it's absolutely lashing with rain! As was forecast! Was very warm this morning and then the winds got up.

So my Wednesday pleasures include only working until 1pm....and I didn't have to wait long for a train.

No longer having a pair of hairy caterpillars for eyebrows. I've been too busy working to get an appointment but all sorted now :)

Bought some fleecy baby blankets from the salvos for Pupster.

Have watched Holby, Downton and now watching Cilla....loving my UK telly!

Omelettes made for dinner using rtc eggs.

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) A long lie-in after my late night reading.

    2) Bacon sarnie for brunch when I eventually decided to get up.

    3) Isis' new feathery balls have arrived, so she was back to charging around after one of them.

    4) Treated myself to a burger at the pub before the quiz - not very OS, but very nice - they do do very good food at that pub.

    5) And came home with a bottle of wine we won.

    And for today:

    1) Waking up to the sound of heavy rain and knowing I didn't have to go out in it.

    2) My competition prize tealight holder arrived, and it's gorgeous.

    4) Free coffee and a RTC muffin from W8rose (conversation with the lady on the till: "is that one of the reduced muffins?" "I'm not sure - it wasn't labelled" "It is now!" :rotfl:)

    5) Received an email to say that something I had ordered from Amaz0n had been returned as 'undeliverable' - it's not quite as  as I originally thought as I can now re-place the order and pay with a voucher I received in the meantime. :money:

ETA - hang on, I can't count! :o Oh well, I'll keep the other one for another day!
Back after a very long break!

Aaaargh - just lost a long reply. Damn and blast. Can't even blame technology, just my own stupid fault.

Anyway assume good wishes to all and thanks for your wonderful posts.

Pleasures for the last few days

    1. walking home in the sunshine and seeing some perfect roses and even more perfect dahlias in a garden nearby. Loves me a dahlia
    2. Not MSE but had a wonderful day at a spa with a friend. I had bought it for us for her 50th birthday. So tiring doing nothing - I came home and slept for 9 and a half hours. :rotfl:
    3. it included the most wonderful lunch - Salmon tartelett, tuna steak with noodles and then cheese for me and fruit platter for chum. The highlight was the waiter walking in with the starters and yelling "two tarts" :rotfl:
    4. Day at the safari park yesterday with newbie students. We got off the bus and a newly doctored (!) colleague said it was a shame we wouldn't see the animals. i pointed out some giraffes in the near distance "Are they real?" she said. Dozy mare :p
5 Doing simultaneous equations with DS - yes, it was a pleasure
    6. Reducing the jungle that is the garden, in the sunshine on Sunday
    7. Cleaner came:T
    8. Finally ate the pizza that has been lurking in the freezer for a while. Although i have given up wheat, no one else was going to eat it, I couldn't throw away good food, and it really was in the way. it was OK, but don't think I miss stuff like that really so there won't be any more. The pleasure is that it didn't take long to cook and is now gone
    9. Friends we visited on Saturday gave me a sourdough starter, and I made a loaf - it worked perfectly. My 10% wheat allowance is for sourdough :p
    10. I think DD is mentally ready for drama school. I think I am ready to let her go - kinda.:o

my non MSE non pleasure is that i have a chuffin speeding fine. I was doing 69 in a variable 60 zone on the Motorway, having just come out of a long traffic jam  Only myself to blame of course, but harsh all the same.

    have a great evening.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Well, Thanks button doesn't seem to work. They appear briefly then depart.

LOL at last sentence of no.3 vjm and share your Lost Post pain, AND your speeding thingie. Can you have a SAC, rather than points on licence and insce implications?

dfv - I don't listen out for news and don't watch live telly anyway. The dark stuff is closer to &squat.

cc- today no.4 - 'that's the way to do it.':-)

    1. Struggling on w/o working phone/mob.s dkw and it's defeating all attempts to fix. Limping along on 1/2-power, glitch-laden putah is something.

    2. Collected meds, online hadn't got to that end[quelle surprise], but girl sorted it out.

    3. M.had forgotten I have all-clear to resume@ Spits, but, moments later, suddenly noticed my silent landline light flicking. It was he, thank goodness: cancellation!!! so....

    4. ...down at storage all afternoon. Hopeless stock selection, all wrong - as usual - completely out of loop. Far too much on board - as usual. On verra. Thence>Mr T for cash into CC+ and Big Smoke petrol. 40pts wombled=£1.60 in deals, if belly-ups don't follow further revelations. Again, on verra.

    5. Free Emporiium 'cino, rtc bhajis. Need bed now, but a bit more research and cleaning up of a couple of objêts needed. Not sure how I'll be up @ 2bells w/o mob. alarm. On verra???? Nerves are kicking in, as usual.

Bonne nuit à tout et à tous.

    Hello again everyone! :hello:

Sorry to have been absent for so long. Term has started in a bit of a rush and I'm feeling more or less back to normal post-surgery which I managed ok in July followed by masses of sleep and recuperation.
It's going to take me ages to go through the backlog of posts - months and months of them - 'twill be a treat for the autumn as nights are starting to close in. :D

I'll post some pleasures now just to get going again.

    1. Making the decision to return here! :D

    2. DSs have both been given, by two different friends, slightly battered s/h push bikes this summer which is fabulous. DS2 is using his to cycle into work - 14 mile round trip, very mse and good for fitness but I am so relieved to get him home in one piece in the evening. So today's pleasure was hearing him opening the door!

    3. Got three loads of washing done and dried on the line, (including a new set of teatowels which means that a few of the oldest raggedy ones have been donated to the bike repair/maintenance ragbag). There's a courtyard garden in this new house and it's not nearly so blowy as the previous place because of the high walls which means washing isn't usually drying as quickly, but today it did.

    4. Getting a very cheery phone call from the administrator of a venue I had booked and had to cancel. Turns out we don't have to pay a cancellation fee. Her upbeatness was infectious.

    5. Afternoon nap in a chair. Everyone else was out and I'd snuggled under a couple of fleeces watching something on iplayer while I had a break from working and was out for the count.

Sweet dreams and hugs to all

    Welcome back Broomstick :)

    1. Handed over the help line at 8am, hung out two loads of washing and was at DD's by 9.30am. She gave me a big slice of hm apple cake and a cuppa for my breakfast. She's a super cook, but of course she was very well taught ;)
    2. DGD2 was at DD's with her Spitz so had lots of cuddles and tummy tickles with her and sneaked her a wee piece of apple cake - the dog, not DGD2 :D
    3. Went to the tip with a few bits, then shopping to buy a new sweater and trousers for my weekend away. Found just what I wanted and the shop had a 25% off sale so it wasn't too painful
    4. Prepped apples, pears, plums and blackberries for a fruit crumble, got a large glass of juice from the fruit which I diluted a little to make a delicious drink
    5. Booked a theatre trip with a friend for a couple of weeks time. I get a concession for age, plus free tea and free parking. It has it advantages :)

    Sweet dreams :)
  • [FONT=]Westywoodpecker - recipe *please* for celery soup as considered a very divisive vegetable in our house

My word I've never been asked for a recipe before, it's always me on the scrounge!! I got it from here.... http://www.cookuk.co.uk/soup_starter/celery-soup.htm

I used my soup maker & just blended in the white sauce at the end.

1, DS has a new GF :j (had heart broken :() so hopefully has finally moved on.

    2. DH finally has some days off after working so many over time days to cover holidays recently.

    3. Washed and dried dogs/cats rugs /beds ready for winter.

    4. Yellowed stickered flowers look beautiful :D

    5. Day off [STRIKE]tomorrow[/STRIKE] today with hubby, not told him yet but he can take me out for tea
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Oats.

5 More oats for breakfast. Now in emporium, w8rz, this morning, there was plasticated bag of chalk induced flake of oat. Now BoPs are Jumbo, and proper. Real tasty. Oh, and the price. Gordonas Bennitus. Mind you, our punters are better round here.

4 Then Snorker onion in roll at lunch, fantastic. Odlin snorkers. Perfect and rite tasty.

3 Got the competition tonight at Camera club, so I am offs to win again. Hopefully.

2 Nite afterwards we is off the the wobbleade emporium, the Ale House.
