Evening all.
I seem to have slipped out of the habit of posting AGAIN - must do better!
Skint - glad to hear your ills aren't as bad as you thought, and hope the new meds do the trick for you.
Frith - best of luck with the application.
Westywoodpecker - I cried at the end of The Book Thief, too. Unfortunately I was on a crowded inter-city train at the time, which was a bit embarrassing!
Tealady - I'll send you a PM about the Isle of Wight.
So, some pleasures from the last few days:
1) My DM's best friend has recently moved to Dorset and had asked my DM to visit her, but she was reluctant to go so far on the train on her own so I said I'd go with her; her friend has now offered me one of her spare bedrooms so I'll go down with my DM then leave them to catch up while I nose around her particularly attractive corner of the county. :j
2) Another good competition win - a hand-made tealight holder, decorated with dragonflies. :j
3) Left work early on Thursday and won't be back until the Monday after next. :j
4) Lazy dinner of A$da takeaway counter pizza tonight.
5) Another autumn crocus has started peering above the compost - thanks to whoever said it would, as you obviously encouraged it!Back after a very long break!0 -
vjsmum pecha kucha was to showcase inductions for different distance learning courses at the uni, but would be interesting to use for teaching. certainly kept me short and sweet!
1) luton won an away game at last and moved up to 12th
2) cooked scrummy veggie risotto with friend's surplus courgettes. had 2 portions one with parmesan for lunch one with prawns for tea, froze 3 portions for packed lunches this week as office-bound so will have microwave
3) slept 9 hours bliss
4) friend's flying lesson delayed from thursday due to fog happened today and i got to be a passenger. amazing experience!
5) then her brother and i went halves on the lunch bill for the three of us. Was sunny and we sat in the beer garden which overlooks... the runway so she was a happy bunny. we saw a raf jet do a roll (glad to say she didn't do a roll either on purpose or accident!)
oo a belated 6 just had a cd delivered by editor of diocesan mag - i won the crossword compMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hi all, apologies for being absent. I've had a funny spell and found it difficult to conjour up 5. However I am feeling the heart return to my mojo, thanks to some excellent MSEers
So no 1. Is coming out of the dark
2. MSE friends are the best. I have moaned and groaned and you still support me. Thank you.
3. A bar or two of white choc at only 35p from Sainsbobs
4. Not sleeping but I'm not alone on that front. Sorry Ali, but it's nice to know I'm not the only moonlight lurker around
5. A plan is forming - hope I have the courage to see it through
Sorry. I haven't caught up on everyone yet. I hope you are all okay and don't mind my returning. Take care. SS xOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

It's quiet around here today, isn't it?
1) Lie-in this morning, despite Isis doing her best to get me up by whirlwinding around the flat with her ball.
2) My fox was back, and Isis seems to be getting used to him as she just gave him a dirty look rather than running off and hiding.
3) LO pizza for brunch.
4) NSD and NPD.
5) A joint of Chinese-style marinaded pork in the oven, which smells :drool:Back after a very long break!0 -

Absolutely no need to apologise. Great to have you back! :j  :j
A busy weekend for me, catching up with a variety of friends - most of whom I hadn't seen for a few months and one, a couple of years. Needless to say, they're the sort of friends you can pick up where you left off!
1) Great friends. Always there and forgive you for being rubbish.
2) Afternoon tea with a friend who is moving to the Middle East. She wanted to do something very British before leaving and I was happy to accompany her!
3) More beetroot pulled up from the garden. I'll have to create a masterpiece of chutney at some point!
4) My student loan is just a year away from being paid off. Almost excited! I've had it for soooo long that I can barely believe it!
5) No need to have lunch or supper as afternoon tea was huuuuge. Moneysaving, no?

For yesterday and today
1. Met my three beautiful great-granddaughters, not particularly OS as 11 members of the family went out for lunch but we split the bill so no too painful in the purse
2. Five friends and I chipped in to buy a birthday present for another friend's 60th, got her the sort of vouchers she can spend anywhere.
3. As said friend makes cards, wedding invitations etc., for a living buying her a card didn't seem an option, so I made her an open fronted card with a posy of flowers showing through which she was delighted with. I got the idea from 'living flower cards' but cost about 1/10th the price
4. Had a super time at the party, didn't get home til 11.50pm, just early enough not to turn into a pumpkin. It was really hard to drag myself out of bed this morning, but I had to as the roads were closed for the carnival and I needed to get out so had to leave early. Managed it by the skin of my teeth
5. Not a particularly warm day so I spent the afternoon clearing everything out of the kitchen drawers. Some went back, some went in the bin and some went into the car boot box. I can actually see the bottom of a couple of the drawers now
Sweet dreams0 -
Sparrer - good to hear about the great granddaughter meet up. :-)
Supersaver1000 - glad you are feeling a bit better.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Went to watch the local motor racing.
2) Took fairy cakes and orange juices.
3) Good job we took some fairy cakes as returned home to find cat 4 asleep across the remaining cakes that were still in the cake tray! As they were iced, they were wrecked. :-(
4) Went to a local charity place that rebuilds bikes and bigger son chose one for his birthday (next week)
5) Enjoyed Casualty.
Today
1) A lie in
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Went to Ikea for lunch and a look round.
4) Took sons for a quick bike ride in the forest.
5) My school friend here for tea.
6) School friend and I spent 3 hours wiping malware and viruses off smaller son's laptop and it is now working!
7) About to listen to the Archers.0 -
Over weekend ine are
1. Watched rugby and we won. Went by train and station was closed so had a packed replacement bus service.
2. After match went to collect car and then drove to hotel as we were taking DS2 stuff to uni. Arrived after stopping for a good meal at 11.50 to hear they had no record of our booking! Done through a website - luckily we took last room they had and managed a free drink.
3. DS2 room ok and living with nice people.
4. Good journey home.
5. Picked cobnuts and planted bulbs in te garden when we got home.0 -
Hi Frith. Thank you. It's good to be back
I'm following some good tips for sleep from MSEers and last night, although it woke up I got straight back to sleep and had almost 8 hours. That may have just been exhaustion though LOL.
I'm very envious of DDs 9 hours
I've just had porridge too - cinnamon, brown sugar and apple sauce topping. Yummy.
Have a great day

Look at the time. If you're reading this at work.
:D
Looks like we is off to get the rolled oats, and cheaper than the baulked out chalk version that are on display next to the foaming coffee in the emporium.
BoP on tour. Alford mill here we go. And a tip, specially to Frith. Read. Learn. Proper PORAGE
But before that, snorkers and Spagyetti breakfast.
Hap a good Monday.0
