Morning
Been missing for a week so lots of lovely things.
1. Sparrers news, made me smile lots
2. Guilty pleasure of seeing ELO live in Hyde Park on Sunday. Even DD was singing and dancing along, it was fab.
3. DD and I received a lovely certificate from Walk the Walk to say thank you for volunteering at the Sunwalk. On the back are comments made about the volunteers by walkers and we got a special mention. It was DD's first experience of volunteering at this type of event so really made her day, mine as well
4. Even though manic week at work have made sure everyone has packed lunch and dinner has been cooked.
5. Conversation with DD about money. She is aiming to save at least £200 a month from her wages. Glad she is thinking of the future and wanting to save.
6. Have booked a couple of days on the Isle of Wight for DD and me at the end of October. CCP any recommendations as to where we should visit, we are staying in Ryde. Have also booked a night in Portsmouth as DD wants to go shopping in Gunwharf Quays.
Another busy week next week as am off to Cornwall with work for a few days and then Stevenage, not sure what connection I will have so hope everyone has a lovely week.0 -
Pffft! Bedtime again ....wake, train, work, train and sleep!
Very busy morning , but I did see 3 beautiful hot air balloons in the sky on the train .
Bought my 2 work girls flowers today to say thank you for all their hard work past 4 weeks , since Drama Queen the Cook left! We have the most amazing and very expensive florist up the road from work.....however, I just bought 2 bunches of jonquils at $5 a bunch but they are so stunningly wrapped that they looked much more!
Finished at 1pm and damn just missed a train again , so sat for 18 minutes and relaxed!
Home to watch the referendum results.....I think I'm a tiny bit disappointed in the results actually! Wasn't too sure how I would have voted as I've not read the official documentation and we don't live there now so not too affected but still a tad disappointed....onwards and upwards, there was such a%20 -
I'm surprised how disappointed I am in the referendum result, MHags! We all sat in the kitchen at mum and dad's yesterday and are so disillusioned with the current government that we decided (should Scotland say "yes" and then Wales do the same) that we would move to Wales! Nothing against Scotland but Wales is just up the road!
Pleasures for yesterday, such as I can remember.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Folk music session.
3) Went to the allotment to do some watering and found one courgette plant has got its second wind. 2 small courgettes off there and two more to come! Also FIVE huge pumpkins just need to ripen. Picked lots of tomatoes too.
4) Finally made bigger son complete a piece of homework :-/ Just another 5 mini projects to go. :-( I had every excuse in the book last night and the 3 hours it took me to persuade (make) him do half an hour of work meant I had to sit and watch DIY SOS by myself to recover.
5) Smaller son had another good day at school.
6) Messaged my 2 referees to see if they would give me references and they said yes! I haven't applied for a job for a couple of years so wondered if they would say no.0 -
Come nows me’arties,
Incredeblah! Neverendrum over, and pipes and fifes unseen. Clearing, only for (no BoP, it is an excuse for educationalists to …) BoP in 1998, at University of Paisley. Sent form off to waste of UCAS. Replay came back, did not have A l;evels to enter course. No stupid people. A levels are for people who cannot get on an apprenticeship at the age of 14. Waste of a collection of hydrogen and oxygen atoms coupled with carbon. Gosh I has started early! New Putahs. Bed beckons. Dramas. Nearly though of DD and whisky and put drams instead. 15 minute cycles. Sunwalks.
5 Aye me harties, just back from quack. Ship’s surgeon has put down the tenon saw, so no chopping. Got some new drugs to try, on the guinea pig. Bin hard work getting this far, so here flows some more. An inhaler and other bits.
4 More hours and it is BoP offski. So be prepared for loads of yellow next week. We will be off to get the proper rolled oats, for the Porage. So be prepared for winter now. They are also nice in delicate delights like biscuits and crumbles.
3 Got the wobbleade inn, the crispies inn, the whine inn. Is going to be Treasure Island film this evening, after a thorough good old fashioned game of Scrabble, LIVE. Cheers up me harties. Now, mes BoPsie still remains one win away from the chance of being within one win of two on the pounce, and she is just getting a little too good these days.
2 Cannot believe just had a mega tastic snorker bun role. 5 Chipolatas with onions well rushed down in one.
1 International talk like a pirate day!
Rite, off to set the plank up then!0 -
Evening all
Frith - I feel your pain re homework. I have known DS spend half an hour rolling round the floor saying he didn't want to do his homework,, that would have taken him 10 minutes
Mhags - how nice of you to buy flowers for your workers. I bet they really appreciated them
Tea lady - I don't see why ELO were a "guilty" pleasure, they were fab by all accounts, though I haven't seen the broadcast myself. I was walking along last summer when a "boy racer" in a "hot hatch" roared up behind me with his whole car shaking with a booming noise. It was only after a bit I realised he was playing "mr Blue Sky" :rotfl:
DD - pecha kucha sounds interesting. I had to google. Is to to incorporate into teaching?
Village life - "colleague spoke to me" - I forget, is this a new job? Or have you been having colleague issues?
Caterina - have a lovely holiday
Bagpuss - ooh enjoy your weekend to yourself, Bliss
BoP - shiver me timbers. Hope the n drugs are ok
Today's pleasures
1 nice soak in bath with YouTube programme
2 got some outstanding chores done, including giving bathrooms a good scrub. Cleaner doesn't do them as thoroughly as me
3 frozen banana "ice cream" - pics and "recipe" on home page, which is coming on better
4 left over curries for tea
5 did the ironing watching "cilia". Rather well done, I thought
Have a great weekend allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Nice relaxing day today, or lazy
1 Finished reading my book "The book thief" & cried at the end.
2 Youngest DS who has recently flown the nest to live with his GF miles away 'phoned for a chatmore tears
3 Got an invite to the pictures with a good friend
4 Enjoyed the sun this afternoon, even if I did falll asleep AGAIN (Medical condition)
5 Made some celery soup & the other half loved it!
Have a lovely relaxing week end xNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
Just a quick update:
1) Not a bad sleep despite waking up at 2.30 and finding out how the count was going.
2) Took my mum to B and Q and she helped me get the shower screen for the new bathroom in and out of my car. That is the last ever bit of the new bathroom bought now, I am relieved to say.
3) Popped to Sainsburys for shopping and a cup of tea.
4) Finished job application form and posted it! Remembered that all the printer paper in our house was free so has a company name header. Didn't want to do the 20 mile round trip to nearest paper selling shop then had a brainwave that the village shop does photocopying so bought A4 paper from them at 2p per sheet!! Really glad to have posted it off and not have it waiting for me to finish over the weekend.
5) Sons both had a good day at school. Son1 finished his samosa cooking but left them in the school fridge! Smaller son went on the X box at lunchtime.
6) New National Trust magazine arrived. Haven't looked through it properly but I did notice in mid October that there will be candlelit tours through the Birmingham Back to Backs finishing with tea and bread and jam cooked on the range so I shall be booking us tickets for that and brother wants to come too!
7) Bigger son went off to do some roleplaying.
Feeling a bit less miserable today, thank goodness.0 -
Very glad the referendum is over though of course there's quite a bit of downright nasty 'banter' on fb. Very much hoping we can move on from this. Pecha kucha was at a forum vjsmum where we were presenting our different inductions. Certainoy gave punchy overviews. Would be interesting to try it with students.
1) woke up with splitting headache, so first pleasure is the relief afforded by relatively cheap pain killers
2) medical student's last day with us so we went to tay park house for lunch
3) then there was tea and cake mid afternoon
4) then friend dragged me off for after work drinkies. We also had supper out so not very mse but lovely
5) went to a comedy night after, hence home so late. Someone couldnt make it so didnt cost me a penny :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Frith - good luck with the job application
PK sorry to hear you've been in hospital (((Hugs)))get well now !!
Thank goodness its the weekend. Here are some pleasures
1. I've got a week off work :j
2. List of jobs to do made... wonder how many I'll get done. Includes cutting grass, painting shed ready for winter, washing downstairs windows and front door .... depends on the weather have a big list of indoor stuff to do too
3. cheeky blackbird ran out of undergrowth outside work right across my path... he had a mouth full of grubs must have thought I was going to take them off him ... blergh !
4. GP appointment at 7am yesterday no traffic on drive there and no backlog at surgery ... think I will make all my appointments at that time in future as they are usually running an hour late
5. Hurrah for the NHS .... was told by GP all hospital tests and scan clear so def no blood clot on lungs :j
however after all blood tests done by doctor I have to increase my diabetes meds and now have to take folic acid - apparently I am deficient DFV so perhaps this explains my exhaustion. And apparently the rash of my leg is diabetic eczema so got some cream for that too ! However can cope with this much less serious than suspected blood clot. Am also so glad I don't pay for my prescriptions.
Havent heard from Ampers for a while - hope all is ok? x
