  • Sparrer - hugely emotional day by the sound of things but delighted all went well.

    1. Went to Wisley and managed free entry as took MIL who is a member and one of us went as a carer.

    2. Had good look at herbs/fruit and veg and asked lots of questions to a very helpful gardener.

    3. MIL paid for us to eat out.

    4. DS1 feeling bit better not as feverish as he had been.

    5. Ironing all done in preparation for the mountains I will soon have after washing machine arrives.

    6. Lovely walk with my dog - she wanted to go a bit further than she has been doing recently.
  • Morning all, bit of a quiet weekend, although I am feeling much better I just don't seem to have any energy. Heres my weekend pleasures

    3. caught up with some recorded tv whilst lounging on the sofa :o

    4. used up lots of leftovers and wilting veg for dinners and so NSD/NPD both days

    5. tidied away paperwork and "stuff" on kitchen table so can actually see the surface now and use it !

So 10 hour shift number 1 done.

Put an ad online last night and had a good few responses....will call people for trial shifts tomorrow.

Have brought home the " Wally Trolley" VJsmum think that's what yours is called. Never , ever thought I'd use one ( vowed as a child in the 70's that I would never!) however , I must say what a marvellous contraption....also no one knew me on the train! I've stuff that's too heavy to cart in bags tomorrow so shall pull it all behind me!

Nice chat with my friend from home, set alarm clock for earlier so I could get up for a chat.....looking forward to clock changing soon .

Having macaroni cheese for tea and DS who doesn't like it will have the left over spag Bol OH forgot to take for his lunch!

Just going out to plant some pansies in a pot at the front door before it gets too dark.

    Have a happy Monday :)

I doubt anyone will beat the weekend of sparra! Apart from a ten hour stint and a wally trolley, no lie inns and biscuits and tea and hog roast and day at the coast and traipsing round shops, for the job lot. Oh and please, you see I do not shop at ATSM as those places will be full of evil things and extracting money for some myth nigh before All Saints Day. And I find it difficult to get my dark treacle without some reference to doing evil eithr. Gosh I has started early this year on it.

5 Bit miffed, as super putah, not same variety of &’s abacus, but of similar quality, static hard drive failed yesterday. Absolute codswallop are the drives made by Tosh. So gripe water required and a slap on the back as well. No problemo, sorted. Transplant carried out was successful.

4 Truly impressed with the shop yesterday, and BoPsie this very morn was out early with the worms and birds and put some points on our T card, at the E filling station, which is 3 pennies cheaper than the one that hurts most. Pennies saved again. This could elad to another packet of cocoa later in the year

3 Shepherd’s pies have been frozen, ready meals for the masses. Now, you cannot beat that if you tired of hearing about it. Still off the spotted !!!!!! at the moment as well, but BoPsie again dipped out of the delight pudding bowl again. She always slops her offering out thirst with the big stirring spoon. Me, now I know you lot think I am ruff. Well, I get the bowl. Abnd if you think that is me being awkward, then think. If I lick out the bowl it was whisked in, does it not save on the washing up. Tolds you so!

2 Was 32 years ago, about, that we did the last elephant walk. At Royal Air Force Station Finningley. Four full on Scramble, took some effort to do as well. Also, Royal Air Force Station Finningley was home to the first ever day, 69 years ago this weekend. It continued to do so for a number of years until the 1980’s. Leuchars, near DD, and Biggin Hill were other places!

  • Sparrer: Just amazing, so so emotional and wonderful, it gives me faith.
I had to go back into hospital but I’m out and a lot better just feeling a bit bleugh.
    1. We went away for a few days to the Bedford steam fair and I have to say it is one of the best rally’s I have been to, everyone was so friendly, the place was big enough to keep us busy for 3 days, with the entry came with free entry to their 100 years of aviation hangers which took a whole morning and was so well done you could touch and everything worked. With demo’s, while neither of us is really into it we came out very enthused. And then around their gardens took the rest of the day. The steam fair itself took the rest of the time, loaded up with all sorts of bulbs to plant in memory of departed animals. Passiflora plants and a big japonica. While DH has been searching for a metal work lathe for literally years, he found the exact right one, being sold on as the chap had passed away, it’s pristine and I don’t think he’s stopped grinning.
    2. I’ve worked from home today did bits and pieces in the morning, then dialled into a team meeting in the afternoon, while also cooking up the caravan leftovers into a chicken/mash topped pie in the background, and had a search running for jobs in the background - time management is it?
    3. Various loads of washing done.
    4. Listed a lot of things for sale in the local rag and gum tree.
    5. Re loaded the bird feeder’s
    6. Lots of bits of bread so bread pud made for DH, lovely smell of nutmeg and cinnamon while it’s cooking through at the mo

What an lovely day, and more to come next week, Sparrer.

Had a bit of a meh weekend. Back to hospital (v briefly) for smaller son. 9th course of antibiotics for him. He has become resistant to one sort (not surprisingly!) hence symptoms getting worse all Friday and into Saturday and a quick trip to get a different type.

Been feeling a bit strange myself, very gloomy. Also seem to be allergic to everything at the moment (well, usual stuff but more than normal) and had a massive reaction to pumpkin leaves so I look like someone has hit all across my arms with a cane!

    Anyway, pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school happily and both had a good day. Bigger son has been doing a bit of French recently (after 2 years of complete refusal to revise/take it seriously) so did quite well in a test today. We've both been using Duolingo on our phones to get up to speed for our Paris trip next month.

    3) After 2 annoying phone calls to the county council (still no return of my bus pass overpayment), I went into town. First off, the charity shops! One nice Next top and a lovely necklace. Necklace was grubby so it went into the washing machine in a sock with the top tied up and is sparkling now!

    4) Then went to B and Q and bought the light fitting for the forthcoming new bathroom (£10 off and hopefully will fit in).

    5) Trip to Sainsburys.

    6) Popped to mum and dad's to borrow some music for the folk session on Thursday. Good to be able to play something before I get there!

    7) Played the concertina for about an hour.

    8) Watched an old episode of DIY SOS.

    9) Just checked on bigger son and he is asleep with his chin in his hand like he is contemplating something deeply! Found smaller son in my bed and, as I got in, he started talking in his sleep and said, "I'm hungry. I'm HUNGRY!" :-D

Thank you, Skint yet Again for anniversary wishes!

Sparrer, I am delighted for you and your family and looking forward to reading all about it after you have had a well deserved rest. xx

Edited to add Frith sorry for more DS illness and for your feeling gloomy. I hope you both feel well soon.

    Mine for today:

    1. Sun shining meant laundry dried quicker

    2. DS painted the outside of the back windows

    3. Generally DS being an absolute rock when I lose it about the never ending kitchen saga. Makes me cups of tea, hugs me and tells me: mum don't worry, it will end soon and we will have a lovely kitchen

    4. Found the 3 Kg bag of brown basmati rice, it was behind the olive oil stash.

    5. Neighbour across the road from me gave me a few morning of paid babysitting because she needs to have an op and cannot pick up and carry her toddler. I would have done it free but she really insisted, said she would be more comfortable paying. I gave her a very good price, we are both happy.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
