Evening all! Still light (just) at 6.45 pm which is lovely , pup is having his mad half hour, dinner is cooked courtesy of my OH, we are having spag Bol once everyone's in.

Work was blessedly quiet ...which whilst not good for business was lovely for main colleague and I who worked 11 hours yesterday! I finished at 1pm ( and should do all week) which was just lovely.

Gorgeous day ! DD1 had some medical tests to be done today, so OH took her and I met them there after work. During one I was dozing off in the corner! That will be $575 please! Thank goodness we have insurance , which will repay this but I just wonder at those who don't have/ can't afford insurance.

Home and out in the garden. Have potted up my sweetcorn seedlings and sunflowers, we were given loads of pots from next door. So my sunflowers are all in nice brightly coloured ones. ' helped' by pup!

I'm looking forward to some me time this week and hope to get caught up in the house and in the garden.

My ironing fairy did a load of ironing.....she's a lovely fairy sometimes! She dressed up as Katie Morag for an 18th party, you were to go as your favourite book character, so these were a favourite from childhood. Outfit courtesy of op shops with a bit of home made alteration!

An evening of Downton and then an early night methinks!

    Have a lovely Monday :)

In the words of Granny Weatherwax from Discworld, I Aten't Dead ... nor anywhere near it, but real life got busy-ish, lots of time needed to be spent online for work, and one of my hobbies has taken up more time. (Reviewing stuff).
    Looking forward to catching up.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Sunlight, snacks, swims and bikes. Ironing fairy, is this the same one who puts socks away? Manic weekends, chuck another log on the fire, and who is Granny Weatherwax?

5 Last night for dinner, I wolfed down two proper faggots, from butcher not emporium. Served with buttered, proper butter, aged 11 Apr, and mint, Savoy cabbage, door step carrots and pea. Onion Gravy. This was after the remnants of the Veg Soup from last week, stored on the stove for maturity purposes only. Eat your hearts out.

4 This morning BoPsie was in a tither. Raffles water bowl had been launched across the kitchen. Livestock had been found,. No problem, I released the shrew back to its natural environment. BoPsie was all giddy, but managed to make Jumo (organic) Milled Oats PORAGE. As you know, it is good for you.

3 Back at the Salt Mine today. Leading hand still not spotted since start of August. Time sheet is lost in the ether somewhere. Never mind.

2 Day for lunch I had Cheese salad and tangerines.

  • A very gloomy bagpuss trailing in.

Very hard to come by pleasures.

I have 3 friends ill, one seriously, 2 not so but in alot of pain.
Further bad news about friends of friends and friends relatives have further saddened me.:(

The glass is most definitely half empty today.

My children's laughter and smiley faces always bring joy to my heart.
Need big kiddy snuggles when I get them back from school.

    Hello all

Well i don't want to do the last two days ever again :(

i honestly didn't think it would be this hard. Saturday was spent with DD packing and me trying to coordinate it all. Then, in the evening, it hit that she was really going. All i could see was that little baby i brought home 18 years ago, that little girl determined to get her own way and all the things I should have done! We had a farewell takeaway and a little watch of the telly before she had a last soak. In bed OH cried his eyes out :(

Sunday was up and off, good journey down, slick on arrival and unpacking. We took her out for lunch and then to get her first groceries.

    Then we left.

Oh dear - we did tell her it would be quick and it was clear when the time was right. OH could barely get out and i had to hold it together for him. We were saved by the bell as his cousin rang (having no idea where we were) and he was fine by time the call ended. In the car i had to hold it together so that he could drive, but i really wanted to howl and howl.

Halfway back, i saw she had posted on facebook that she was chatting to people and seemed happy so I was a lot better after that.

    There were some pleasures

    1. Saturday on the whole was rather nice, just doing chores with a mission in mind and chatting and reassuring
    2. The welcome in Southend was slick - I can't really praise it enough. Even in my job, i never see that side of it. her room is lovely and she will be fine
    3. It is the right thing for her - it will be the making of her and we certainly couldn't have carried on for much longer with her taking the liberties she was
    4. we had a lovely lunch in Sarfend and a stroll along the seafront in the sunshine
    5. Journeys were fine
    6. Most of all - she is happy and we will all get used to it.
    7. I don't think it will be as hard as that again.

    Still hard though.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Oh, VJsmum! I've got something in my eye. :-( Hope you are ok (ish) this evening.
  • vjsmum - it does become easier but still hard - though by the end of the summer holidays I'm pleased to take them back!

    Bagpuss - hugs to you.

    1. Roses still looking good

    2. Bulbs planted under the trees.

    3. Cake at work today but sad as someone is leaving - a lovely person who has just had enough but has been happier since her decision to leave.

    4. Omelette for tea.

    5. Christmas cards ordered - I have now started.

    Evening all.

Not a great day here, what with the dreaded back to work and the very sad news that a much-loved colleague had suddenly died. :(

    Anyway:

    1) NSD.

    2) Walked up to the bank at lunchtime and got some more coin bags, which will be returned fully filled in the not too distant future.

    3) LO pasta for lunch.

    4) Lots of Isis cuddles when I got home.

    5) Found the remains of the HM sausage plait in the freezer, so that's tonight's dinner and tomorrow's lunch sorted.

Hugs to all having difficult times, and to the lovely mhagster pup just because he's gorgeous!
Back after a very long break!

VJsmum - huge hugs to you.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Have you seen the amazing Cilla starring Sheridan Smith? If you haven't, then please catch up with it on the ITV Player. It's a 3-part drama (typing this as I watch the final instalment). Sheridan is simply amazing and even Cilla Black calls her "Little Cilla".

    2) Supper using stuff in cupboards and the freezer. Feeling quite virtuous.

    3) Liquid hand soap almost used up, but I'm looking forward to using soap which a friend brought me from New Zealand. I'm hoping for a complexion which makes me look 10 years younger! (on my hands.... hmm, a flaw in this plan somewhere) :rotfl:

    4) Latest travel mag has popped through the door with an article in about Dubai, where my friend has just moved to and I'm going to visit in Feb. Ooooh.... a lottery win is needed now!

    5) Sheridan Smith in Cilla. Did I mention it? Honestly, she's great.
