    Good evening,

Back after being AWOL for a while.

Sorry to hear so much sadness, (((hugs))) to all of you who need them.

I am a bit in the pits myself, won't bore you with family saga details, only adding to the stress of the mess and incomplete job the builders have left us to sort out (we ended up sacking them), so finding pleasures had been a bit of a struggle. But here I go, trying:

    1. The trip to Scotland last week was wonderful, restful and fun.
    2. Sunday's foraging course was good and it was nice to be outdoors in the sunshine
    3. Finally I have tackled the bathroom and removed the mouldy sealant around the bath (a job that needs repeating a couple of times a year).
    4. DS is an absolute sweetheart, always very kind and supportive.
    5. DH is my rock, my best friend.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Oh VJsMUM. Our job is to raise them to go out in the world, but that brought a tear or two to my eye. Sending hugs.

I had a good day at work today.
    My homemade bread was delicious
I had a nice chat with big boss man, he's very lovely (make me permanent!)
    Nice dinner of leftovers
A lovely relax in my newly decluttered bedroom

    BOP, well done you!

    Glad to get some pleasures

  • 1) Spent the day with Mum & Dad (same again tomorrow as dont get to do it too often).

    2) Picked up the kids from school (same again tomorrow, as dont get to do this very often due to shift pattern).

    3) Swept the leaves from the driveway. (nice shiney new driveway instead of the mud pit that we've become accustomed to over the last 10 years).

    4) Watched and helped DD12 make a peg bag on the sewing machine we bought her the other day, (doing really well as not used one before). Proud dad, here. :D

    Busy day!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Up early to make a birthday cooked breakfast.

    3) Sons off to school happily.

    4) Brother brought me round a load of logs.

    5) Spent 2 hours helping him cut down a massive ash tree from by the car park of his village hall (it was stopping people parking in that corner!) I did the classic thing of being the person pulling the rope (brother the person with the chainsaw) and having to shout "MOVE!!" as it started to twist and topple over! It did totter and give him a few seconds before falling properly. 2 van loads of logs for him and a lot of leafy branches.

    6) Poached egg on toast for dinner at mum and dad's.

    7) Cleaned the bathroom and photographed it as the new one is coming next week. :-)

    8) Bigger son's birthday party! With my family and brother in law. Did pizza, cocktail sausages (they were asked for specially), various cakes and the birthday cake. Everyone jolly this evening. Bigger son is now 14. :-/

    9) Watched an old edition of DIY SOS.
  • Mhagster, I love Katie Morag stories. Am about to buy one of the island stories collections for a friend’s daughter. Years ago I was commissioned to write some teaching resources based on one of the books and it was such fun.
    Bagpuss, very many hugs.
    BoP, hooray for the interview.:T
VJsmum, huge hugs for you too.
CCP, oh crikey, hugs for you as well.
Caterina, and more for you too.

In fact, hugs for absolutely everyone who could use them this evening.

    Five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Having a test go at sanding down and re-oiling some of the marks on the beech block kitchen worktop. It's looking very good so I'll tackle a bigger section tomorrow.

    2. Popping out early evening. The village was so quiet and it was warm but slightly autumnal - just lovely.

    3. Watching an iplayer programme on Jaspar Conran's designs for Swan Lake.

    4. Good chat with my parents on the phone.

    5. Cleaning and sorting of some of the house this evening by both DSs. Very, very helpful as I need to get a new layer of decluttering done and it's much easier when the place isn't in too much of a mess. DS2 appeared with a bag of outgrown clothes without being asked as well. Need to pencil in a charity shop visit now.

    Sweet dreams

  • Here goes, small collection.
    1. Super artist at last week's live music club, have been sharing videos online. More to look forward to.
    2. Treated to a meal out by good friend, have been watching what I eat for a long time now, so it was lovely to splurge a little.
    3. Continued ease on joints from weight loss, every incentive to keep that going. Trousers that were cutting in to me three months ago are now comfortable.
    4. Being sent some useful things to trial for free. The direct freebies from Am@zon must be used by me or my household, but companies have been sending me things too, which I have happily passed on, or will pass on.
Things like umbrellas, belts, USB charging cables for phones and power banks to charge iPads/phones etc. They are just things, but they are useful to me and to others.

    5. New cookbooks to drool over as well. Plus Bake Off. Even if my own food intake has been somewhat restricted, I can still do this form of appreciating food. :D
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Waves hello and sends hugs ....looks like a few of you need one.

A bit of a storm raging at the moment....and normally I say, ooh the pleasure was I wasn't out in it.....er, I was! DD2 and I just nipped out ' before the rain came on' but it didn't quite work out...and we were both like drowned rats! But it's only water!

So a bit of an up and down night with young Pupster! Does not like his crate but will have to get used to it. Howls like a banshee when he goes in ....had to sit next to him until he calmed down....but we shall persevere and we shall be in control, not him!

Work was very busy but I finished at 1pm which was lovely. My lovely main colleague gave me a voucher for $20 , one of these gift cards and it said 'you're fantastic!' It was so kind, we've really worked our butts off past 5 weeks and kept each other going when we've maybe had a low moment.
My boss doesn't think I should be as friendly with my team now I'm manager ....I disagree, I can manage to get them to work better in a happy environment than in a controlling , dictatorship. The team are all young girls/ women ( late teens/ early twenties) . I know what it's like to work with a harsh, moody , manager and I don't want that for my team.
Anyway, I really appreciated the gift card and shall buy myself something nice.

Had an amazing conversation with 2 elderly people on the train home, they weren't together but we sat and chatted and I learned so many new things in 12 minutes!

Popped round to physio to get sports tape for DD2 ( let's go out before the rain comes) and had a lovely chat with her physio, who's from UK and is now watching UK telly as we gave him the link! Maybe if we hadn't chatted we'd have got home dry!

Pup is a wee bundle of gorgeousness / rascal/ pooing- peeing machine! But we all love him...maybe not quite so much at 2 am.....however, he's just little and this is all new. He discovered the front room and dining room this afternoon and was so excited! It was funny....he was scampering around in and out if the table and chair legs and the wooden floors probably felt different on his feet. He ran back in the house when we were out in the garden as a cockatoo screeched very loudly as it flew overhead.

Think I will do macaroni for tea, something easy yet tasty.

Have a lovely day , hope you all find some pleasures in amongst your worries and sadness. Life's not always easy but I know it helped me to try and find some thing positive to post.

Morning all - thanks for the hugs. I just had to let it out somewhere and she sees everything on FB and twitter! We are ok, and she is happy and had a good first day. it seems the theatre world is like the construction world where everyone knows everyone (or knows someone who knows someone, if you see what i mean) and one of V's neighbours was on a course last year with a lad from her school. She will meet all her course mates today so more new friends.

Anyhow - hugs to those who need them (CCP and Caterina - oh and everyone!)

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. First day teaching - went well. There was a smart ar5e law boff in the front, until I discovered he got an E at AS and didn't go any further with it. ;)
    2. walked to and from the station in warm sunshine
    3. there is a mini mutiny going on over a fairly serious issue at work, but all colleagues are standing united
    4. veggie curry for tea. Was supposed to be 5:2 ing but failed miserably.
    5. I didn't have to decide what to feed fussy DD for her tea

Day off today :T I may be too fragile to start the "great DD bedroom clean and clear" today, but we'll see.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
