Good morning all :hello: - sitting here at a silly time (7.00am) and it's still cold because the c/h hasn't kicked in yet - but no signs of frost on the ground when I went outside to put recycling out, so maybe things are warming up after all.

funkymonkey - I used to make Lemon Curd Butterfly Cakes when my kids were little and they loved them but my grandkids don't seem to like the stuff at all - silly things ;). Hope you enjoy your walk in the Brecon Beacons today.
Megs mum - must be lovely to have a friend who's so in tune with your craft/needlework habits - nobody will come with me when I go browsing in 'el Kilo's'/Abakhan Fabrics (awwwwwwww!). OH says there must be a portal to another universe/time in there as I disappear for hours on end :o. wd for your honest over the £60 - they should consider themselves really lucky that the money was returned to them. But what goes around, comes around - you'll get your 'just reward' from elsewhere!
bunny too - wd on reducing your meat-free days. We try to alternate meat days with non-meat ones at the moment - absolute miracle as OH used to LOVE his meat.
Kittikins - sounds as though things are slightly different in your area regarding water bills - we only get the one bill (United Utilities deal with everything here). It's usually reckoned that if you have less people in your household than there are bedrooms, then you should profit by having a water meter installed - but I know that's not always the case. Obviously it all depends on how your family uses water - showers instead of baths; reducing laundry use; using a water butt for water plants etc; having a small toilet cistern or using a water saving device in the cistern; using a washing up bowl for doing dishes a couple of times a day; not leaving taps running while brushing teeth; steaming veg over the potatoes instead of boiling them and throwing water down the drain. My own personal favourite water saving method is by NOT IRONING - no need to keep filling the steam iron - well THAT'S my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;). Seriously though, I know that we can have a meter fitted and can our minds after about six months if it doesn't save us any money - not sure if other water suppliers do the same. Would be dreadful to have one fitted and then find that bills actually went up instead of down. Hope you and DD enjoy her party.gif - great to have good friends/neighbours where you live :j.
JennyJewell - wd on your 'friday giggles' in work - everybody should be able to do that - weekend ahead!
CCP - lol at your silly.gif. Good Luck with your OU plans - hope you find a course that stimulates your interest :).

nuttybabe - hope you're feeling a bit better today and have managed to get on with finishing your cat's legs :). I'm another late night fiend - very rare I get to bed much before 2.00am - no surprise that I find myself dozing off mid-afternoon IF I find time to sit down.
Caterina - sorry about the link to the beans - I've sent you a pm with the details in it. wd you on your busy, busy day - lucky the baby didn't put in an appearnace in the midst of all that ;). Looks like this one is hanging on for the weather to get a little warmer .
bella - wtg on the baking day and wd to your OH on doing the washing up for you. Enjoy your communal meal evening .
GirlySquare - Good to see that your Mother's Day is beginning early ;). And thanks for the link - got it ready to play when I finish posting .
Carolynita - would be great if you managed to get your supervisor's job when he moves on :). Good Luck with cleaning your carpet.
ACEY - - omg you and the boys are soooooo lucky - must have been terrifying for you all. With the Fire Brigade so far away, please get yourself a Fire Extinguisher. May be worthwhile speaking to the local Fire Safety Officer - they visit your home and give brilliant advice - not sure about your area, but around here they give out freebies too. Their priorities here are elderly/vulnerable and young single families. I don't blame your boys for enjoying Ikea - it's another of my favourites, even if I don't always buy anything. LOVE their ice-creams and the coffee.gif.
sparrer - wd on your moisturiser sample - I got one this week as well, wonder if we're on the same mailing list ;) Mines L'Oreal Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-wrinkle DAY Cream. Hope your daffodil is now showing signs of opening.
Westy - wd to your son for getting into his first choice of Uni :T - enjoy your weekend.
savingforoz - wd on more polishing of your short story and best of luck with Mr Possible ;).
pepsimax - I wouldn't worry about the family preferring a different choice of fire - when they pay for it AND the rent/mortgage, that's when they get to choose for themselves ;). Hope you all enjoy the party today and have a lovely afternoon at the restaurant tomorrow.

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Busy morning - think the tenants KNOW when I'm trying to escape for an early lunch ;). Did battle with a Debt Collecting Agency on behalf of a tenant - power company trying to charge the lady for electricity/gas used in a house that she moved out of three years ago. The house has been tinned up with gas/electricity disconnected since they day she moved out, but they reckon that they actually READ the meters in June 2009 - oh yeah, pull the other one! I rang them on the day she moved here to give notice on the power supplies and they've recently sent bills for the old property to this new address. On top of all that the lady was on prepayment meters for both gas and electric - so they should have known that there were no outstanding bills to be generated. Debt Collecting Agency are now demanding copies of Tenancy Agreement to prove when she moved out - they should NEVER have been brought into this in the first place. Make my blood boil that some people have to try to deal with these situations without a Scheme Manager to help sort them out .

    2. Our 'Christmas Lunch' venue got changed again on the last minute. Our Line Manager doesn't live local and she managed to book the wrong place :rotfl:. No matter - it was a better place and we weren't paying the bill ;). I can't face that kind of meal midday, so had a warm ciabatta steak sandwich with salad garnish - though I did leave room for a cheese selection for 'afters'. Not keen on smoked cheese or blue stilton so those were passed on to some of the others. http://www.theprinthouse.org/menus/main_menu/index.html Not used to a couple of glasses of wine in the middle of the day either. Lovely 'Boss Lady' (fortunately) gave us the afternoon off as well :j.

    3. Managed to make my way around the shopping centre for some salad, Mother's Day Card (kind assistant let me use her pen to write it out instead of having to buy one) and then went for a taxi home - taxi driver even pulled over by a post box to let me post the card.

    4. Got back home, enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and just about to go for a 'post lunch/wine lie-down' when the doorbell rang and I got visitors . No2 son with dgs3 (Bouncing-Billy-Blue-Eyes) who promptly got plonked into the 'prison' (aka as travel cot). It was lovely to see them both though. As they departed, got asked if I would have him this morning, while DS2 takes dgs2 to a football match - so expecting another knock on the door anytime soon.

    5. Have just got out some Spicy Parsnip Soup for lunchtime, and a couple of whoopsied Asda Extra Special pies for evening meal, from the freezer - will have with boiled pots and broccoli.

    6. Mobile hairdresser due around 11.30 to tidy me up again.

That's me done for now - hope everybody has a good mse/os day and speak again later - love Ollie xxx

Phew ACEY! So glad you and the family are alright, I bet it scared the boys. Hope you've glued the box of matches somewhere out of reach! It just shows how quickly these things escalate. Not to self, must check fire alarms today! Loved one is doing it now!

    1. A lie in. Totally exhausted. Woken by a horrible dream met by wonderful reality of it not being real. Ah that's better.
    2. Even though I'm in pain (everywhere), I think of my friend with cancer and promptly shut up.
    3. Giving some surplus £5 off No7 vouchers to a friend.

    Got to 3 so that's a start.

Ollie, thanks for the supportive words about decluttering and my sig. It's a bit embarassing really! There is still so much to go. Items count as one magazine or as one piece of furniture gone, so quite random!
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    Morning everyone,

Savingforoz - good luck with the date, hope you have a good time

    Mine for yesterday:
    1. Very busy day at work which meant I didn't leave the office at lunch time so another no spend day
    2. Managing to save a collegue a 14 hour round trip (even though I don't really like him and he was ungrateful). I knew I'd done the right thing
    3. Bacon muffin for breakfast for everyone using up the last freebies from last weekends milk man delivery
    4. Hot shower for everyone at the in-laws
    5. Lovely dinner at MIL as well with apple crumble for pudding, yum

Just another couple of days to go to getting our boiler fixed:j. Its amazing how we take hot water on tap and central heating for granted these days. Going to pop out to the shops now and treat myself to a cup of tea in the lovely cafe in town. Hope everyone has a good day.

ACEY glad to hear you're all okay. The Fire Brigade visited a few years back, did a safety assessment and fitted two smoke alarms all for free as young child in house. The smoke alarms are great, we never need to test them as they're set off whenever we make toast or the oven gets a bit dirty and smoky. I agree you need to get yourselves checked out for smoke inhalation though.
