Well I never. 63p fairtrade hot chocolate with no palm oil. Looks like we'll be drinking this one for quite a while (currently decanted into an aero hot chocolate tub ;)).

    Another from me:
    6. PG being on half price offer in Sainsbugs - getting quite a stack of PG boxes now - just need to find lady grey on offer :D

    7. Cherry liqueur chocolates as a present for cat sitting - and no-one else in the house likes them so they are ALL MINE :D:D

    Evening all,

Feeling tired, can tell it's nearing the end of the week. Hope everyone is ok on here. Not been around for a bit. Been doing lots of decluttering.

    1. Finding homes for my old stuff that don't involve a black bag/landfill.
    2. Hearing the dog playing with a toy.
    3. Picking up a load of library books.

Only 3 but better than none.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

jexygirl - wd on getting your microwave fixxed :j - but what a shame you couldn't find the whoopsies section in Mr T's - was it by any chance a Metro one? Not sure if those have much of a 'section' in them - not being a Mr T shopper myself ;). wd on your brisket meal for the staff :T. Loving the sound of Rhubarb Crumble Ice Cream - should be possible - I once bought Apple Pie and Custard Ice Cream from Asda many years ago.

nuttybabe - good luck with the napkin making . good luck with the pink cat for your DM - hope it's finished in time :).

Good luck with the knitting.gif. Great news about your music centre AND getting to keep the original :T. Have a good trip to see your DM at the weekend :).

tudorfan - wd on finishing the cross stitch for your friend and on getting rid of all traces of previous house owners rotten taste ;) - I never felt a house was 'my home' until I'd got rid of all traces of their previous wallpapers - one room had 16 different and horrendous wallpapers in it .
newlywed - ooooo my OH bought me a tin of that galaxy hot choc and I wasn't that keen either - will stick to my Asda's own brand. Now exactly what you mean about glace cherries  - not so sure about the sugar content of them though :(.
mineallmine - wd on your decluttering - your signature is very impressive. Afraid I've hit a bit of a stand-still on decluttering - need to kick myself up the asre this weekend.

I'm rather tired this evening, so I'm heading for bed right now. Will post my own in the morning - nitey nite all - take care - love Ollie xxx

    5 for today!

    1) Went to bigger son's mother's day concert this morning and didn't cry. I got a lovely card thanking me for teaching him how to swim and ride a bike :-) and a photoholder he had made.

    2) Came home and had a good tidy, floor clean and finished the washing. And it was nice enough to dry it on the line.

    3) Spent rather a long time making Jamie Oliver's Beef and Guiness Pie. http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/beef-recipes/steak-guinness-and-cheese-pie-with-a-puf

    4) Picked little son up from school (bigger son had after school science club) and we had a lovely walk through the forest again waiting for bigger son to come out at 4.10.

    5) Found a letter in little son's bag from his SENCo. This is both good and bad. Good that she is "reviewing" him at the end of March and I can speak to her about it. Bad that I have been waiting nearly THREE YEARS for her to return my calls (!!!!) and "review" suggests she has actually seen him before, just not bothered to inform me... Funny how the entire CASBAT team (social behaviour people) can make appointments and write reports about him, but a SENCo can't make a single phone call. But I digress...

    6) Pie was rather nice for tea. We invited my brother up so he could try it and he stayed for a while afterwards to play on the Wii and listen to little son doing his reading homework.

    7) Bigger son went with my mum and sister to watch "Fiddler on the Roof" locally. My sister says you wouldn't have known they were amateur actors and she wants to see it again - this from someone with performing arts and music A levels and very arty!

    8) Did 30 mins of the step thing on the Wii and enjoyed the 2nd part of the Eddie Izzard programme showing him doing all the marathons. I kept thinking "Oh, that looks like Builth Wells - it IS Builth Wells/Newtown/Brecon"!

Going to have a bath and go to bed now, must find something to listen to on the iplayer.

    1. Did some grocery shopping and also popped into a fruit shop i haven;t shopped in before, they had an advert in the window 2lbs damsons for £1.50. So I went in and asked for 4lb and the man promptl took 4lbs of damsons out of his freezer and handed them to me. I wasn't expecting them to be frozen, but it makes sense to freeze them if you have a lot of them to sell, i suppose. Anyway, jam making is on the cards for tomorrow which is why they are now defrosting!

    2. Crocheted a few more squares for my blanket/throw.

    3. Managed to find a bargain gammon in Tesco yesterday (£3.50 for 1.2 kg) so today I bunged it in my 6 litre slow cooker with lots of the veg i have dehydrated and it's been cooking away for about 6 hours. I've just divided it into portions and i had a little taste and it's yummy,

    4. Have been working my way through the X files this evening. My uncle bought my teens the complete box set only they aren't that into it, but I am really enjoying it, it's even better second time around. So i've been crocheting my blanket while watching it.

    5. Sorted out my pantry this afternoon. Found things i had forgotten i had bought. Must remember to rotate food stock in future.

Tealady what a fright for you! TG you're all okay and are here to tell the tale
savingforoz thank you for the pate recipe, it will come in very useful for the veggies at a buffet I'm doing for a friends 50th toward the end of the month. Good to know it freezes as I want to make as much as poss as soon as poss so I can get ahead of myself
GirlySquare pleased your Mum is warm and being fed - long may it last
Sorry you have to go back to court on Tues ACEY, I'll be thinking of you. I won't say don't stress as I know it's almost impossible not to, been there, done that &etc, but just know every time you go it's a step nearer the end :). Plan yourself a treat for afterwards, something for you to look forward to
Ollie it's a small HA so a bit different to (ex) LA ones. The LA dept I worked for always kept some £k's back 'for emergencies' until the last few weeks of the financial year then spent the lot because they knew they'd get a lower allocation next year if they didn't - I think most LA's are run on similar lines. I spoke to the contract mgr of the HA who said they're definitely doing the refurbs this year, then went on to say they're investing all spare cash in new builds - left hand, right hand lol. We'll just have to wait and see...

    1. A beautiful day, sat out (well wrapped up) for a while this morning
    2. Postie brought me £15 vouchers from a survey site, that's almost £100 this year so far! It'll slow down now but I'm well on the way to getting Christmas sorted out
    3. Had a lovely email from a couple I met at the weekend, they're in Kent so only 80 miles or so away. We're going to plan a meeting after Easter :D
    4. Finding the shaggy wool very hard to knit with but did four inches of the scarf this evening.
    5. Another nsd, only two this week so far :o but hoping for at least one more

    Night night (((everybody))) stay safe

    Morning everyone,

Acey - I know what you mean about SENCO my DD has severe Dyslexia which her primary school wouldn't acknowledge even after we paid for a private assessment from the Dyslexic Assosiation. All I can say is keep fighting his corner and I hope he gets the help he needs.

    My five for yesterday:
    1. Discovering there was enough hot water left in the tank for a quick shower
    2. Going to work, at least it's warm there
    3. Hot water bottles, we were all grateful for them in our beds last night
    4. Lovely cinnamon danish for breakfast, they were on offer in Mr.T
    5. NSD

Hugs to all who need them

Morning all  - looks like a very promising day, so far - though I did hear the wind getting up a bit during the night :).

ACEY - Found your no.5 very interesting - never heard of CASBAT before, so had to 'go google' - don't think we have anything like this in our area - the differences from one Health/Education Authority to another is quite . Good luck with your ds2's review.
katholicos - wd on the damsons - enjoy your jam making session :).
sparrer - aaah sorry I didn't realise yours was such a small HA - hope their planned refurbs goes to schedule then. Ours has refurbed ALL its housing stock (13,500) in the past four years (double glazing, c/h, rewiring/kitchens/bathrooms/walls/gates) as well as demolishing surplus stock and building lots of new. Big trend to get rid of high-rise blocks and one-bedroomed flats at last. Still a shame though to see that some families haven't even respected the improvements to their homes and already we can see some upvc doors that have taken a battering. I just wish that the 'powers that be' would start charging these families for any damage done (unless it's been reported to the Police as criminal damage and they have a log no.) - makes my blood boil .
Tealady - hope you can all manage over the weekend - wd you on getting the last of the hot water for a shower before it went cold - that would have been a dreadful waste.

Mine for the past few days:

    1. Dignity in Care event run by local authority - very interesting speakers - really hope it helps to improve standards of care workers AND professionals alike.

    2. DD showing some signs of improvement - wondering if the improvement in the weather has had something to do with this as well hmmm. Last week's Health Visitor has already acted on some of her promises to help DD - including speaking to GP to get her put on liquid medication, in an effort to make it easier for DD to gradually reduce the amount she's taking - can't cut the tablets any smaller than 'halves' at the moment. Got the GP to arrange for another 'camera down' to check on the progress of the ulcers that she's been suffering from as well.

    3. Been invited to the 'Attendance Awards Breakfast and Presentation' next week. This is officially for 6yrs of no sick leave - maximum award only goes up to 5yrs, but it's the thought that counts. I'm sure I can find lots of things to spend my £250 vouchers on :j.

    4. We've got our Christmas Staff Meal at lunchtime today - we ALWAYS have problems getting it to fit into our schedules, but it's never been as late as this before :rotfl:, so 14 of us PLUS Line Manager are going to invade a local eaterie - think I'll take along some left-over crackers that I've got lurking in the airing cupboard.

    5. Got the hairdresser coming tomorrow :j - thinking of trying something a little bit different this time - keeping the length at the back, still shaping around the ears but keeping the bits in front of the ears longer and really thinning the fringe out - sick of it looking like a 'Beatle Fringe' (for anybody old enough to know what that means ;)). Will still need doing again (plus colour - may just  everybody) before going on hols in May.

that's me done for now - be back in again later in the day. Take care all and have a great day - love Ollie xxx
  • 1. First day using the Oil Cleansing Method and my skin looks and feels much better already! Hope it lasts

    2. Looking forward to a mid-morning HM lemon curd fairy cake with a cup of tea

    3. Having my friend round tonight to look through my clothes before they go to the charity shop, and have a glass of wine :)

    4. Going on a walk in the brecon beacons tomorrow - weather forecast looks nice!

    5. It's nearly the weekend!!! :D

Good Morning All - I have had a lovely few days with my friend staying ... we talked and crafted and mooched around some fabric shops. Lovely. So here are my 5 from yesterday:
    1. Talking
    2. Looking at fabrics, buttons, ribbons, threads, beads, cords and talking about their gorgeousness
    3. Playing with craft things and making one birthday card! Must have been talking too much I guess!
    4. Discussing campervans (see fund status - Hmmm some way to go)
    5. Seeing £60 (three £20 notes) blowing across the car park, figuring out it belonged to two blokes who had just got out of a truck, picking the money up and taking it into the office (where the 2 blokes were buying something), interupting their conversation (with difficulty - it was a building materials reclamation yard) and giving them the money! Somewhat taken aback when the first thing the bloke said was "Ooo I wouldnt have had any money to pay you (to other man)" Second thing was "How embarrassing" and then, after a pause, "Thanks" - ermmmmm - is it just me or would you have said "Thank you so much - wow- golly - thanks you are an angel " FIRST??? Oh well.....
    6. Still only have 2p in my roadkill jar but my morals are intact ....
    Have good day.
    XX MM
    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents
