5. Enjoying my yummy lentil pate for lunch.

Thank you so much for posting it Ozzy!!! It will be on my specials tomorrow with some scottish oatcakes!
quick question tho! Not being a lentil cooker (these have been in the dry store for as long as I can remember!) but they started off red and have gone orange! Is this normal, or did I a) overcook them or b) can you buy orange lentils!

Evening all
Sparrer - Welcome back! I'm glad to hear you had a good time. Lol your moggy with the flagpole tail
Katholics - Mmm Staff oatcakes. The 10 year ex comes from Stoke and introduced me to these. I'm going to get him to bring some with him next month but can you please post the recipe
Ollie - Thanks the job is a long shot but if you don't try you'll never know
Kittikins - Glad to hear your tum is getting better
CCP - Sounds like you got that freezer under control :j. Mines not too bad but I need to reduce it a little.
D_0_S101 - Can you please post your biscuit recipe please. I'd like to have a go at them. I try not to eat anything with additives but biscuits are my downfall and some home made ones would be ideal.
Jexygirl - I know but at least you've got your girls there with you. We'll have to have virtual coffee. Who knows what will happen if I work in Shetland :rotfl:
Blimus - I checked out Lambing Live last night and you're right it is addictive. Lovely to see the lambs being born. I don't know about up in Cromer but we don't have many sheep here.
My latest ones:
1) Another good day at work
2) Another no spend day
3) Colleague donated two apples to my blackbirds today
4) Another new viewing of my house - with an hours notice - just as well I'm a neat freak and the house was reasonably tidy
5) Lovely bit of steak for dinner
Hope you all had a great day. Take care

Today's blessings
1. Received £49 for my waterlogged dead mobile, yay, the holiday fund is rising very quickly.
2. My parents are giving me a tumble drier as they're getting a new one (some strange deal whereby they bought a needed new washing machine and got a very cheap tumble drier as well)
3. DD had a lovely friend over for play and tea today, first time he's been over and he was a little cutie, they played together very nicely.
4. Nice sauna at lunchtime, it cheered me up when I was feeling grouchy
5. We all enjoyed some nice YS strawberries for pudding tonight. They tasted like real strawberries iyswim0 -

Hi all
Sorry haven't posted for a couple of days or so x
My 5 pleasures today have been:
1) Feeling absolutely tired and listless so hubby went to shop to buy me 2 freddo bars to cheer me up
2) Going to bed really early and having a read to myself before I go to sleep, (straight after I have posted this, lol)!
3) DS2 coming in from youth club and giving me a big cwtch
4) My friend sending me a funny text message while she was sitting on the next bus to me that made me laugh out loud
5) My hubby showing so much patience with me earlier this evening when I was grouchy, aww - he's lovely x
That's me - gotta go to bed now, I'm pooped!
Nighty nite all, nos da,
Jenny xEverything happens for a reason0 -
elizabunny - condolences to you and your DH
Welcome D_O_S101
Welcome home Sparrer! Your trip sounds fantastic. Loving the sound of those fancy charity shops.
Carolyntia - fingers crossed for you on the Shetlands job
Megsmum - Lentil croquette sounds lovely. Could you share your recipe on here?
Jexy/Carolyntia - re Lambing Live - I know! Whoulda thunkit?!
Here are mine for the past couple of days:
Tuesday
1) A NSD
2) The roadworks from hell have been completed early so I no longer have 20 minute detours added to my journey. Yay!
3) Lovely chats with DS1 & DS2.
4) Watching Dynasty re-runs whilst doing some stepping.:o
5) An early night.
Today
1) Washing my hair in the yummy smelling Ginger shampoo from A**i (only 59p a bottle)
2) Teaching DS2 about solids/liquids and gases by making some chocolate crisy cakes. I love kitchen chemistry!;)
3) DS1's pride (and mine) at building and painting a very fiddly airfix model. This is a big deal for him as his fine motor skills are quite poor (borderline dyspraxic).
4) A lovely chat with my mum on the phone this evening.
5) Bad for the diet, not on the meal plan and not great for the grocery challenge either but good for the soul - an unplanned fish n chip supper.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi All,
Can I join Jenny and Kitty in the 'Grouch Club'? Glad you are feeling more cheery. I seem to be working myself into a bit of a decline! I had 2 lesson observations today, and even though lots of nice things were said, I still focus on the 'but'.........and don't really agree with the feedback
Elizabunny - Sorry to hear about DH's Uncle.
5 for today
1. Got organised for observation in time.
2. The class I was being observed in were really well behaved. :AThey are a difficult group with lots of 'big characters' so it could have gone completely pear shaped. Bless 'em!:T
3. DS1 had another 2 teeth out today in preparation for his braces. He is being very brave. I'm v proud of him. :A
4. Nice tea of chicken tacos using value chicken and various YS dips and salads bought in Mr M yesterday, while watching Nigel Slater on the telly. (Should this be two really?)
5. DS2 getting Head Teachers gold sticker for good spelling! (I never thought I would see the day when he would be rewarded for his spelling!!). :A
There I feel better already. Thanks for helping me focus guys.
Off for shower and bed. Night. x0 -

Ok here goes. For everyone whos been asking about the biscuit recipe I mentioned, here it is. I'm no Delia Smith, but in my best Jamie Oliver accent
You will need the following ingredients to make my pukka biscuits
100g Margerine,
75g soft light brown sugar
2tbs golden syrup
175g self raising flour
Pre heat the oven to 180C / 350F / Gas 4
Into a bowl add the,
Margerine and soft light brown sugar.
Cream together untill smooth. This may take some effort so try to ensure the margerine is soft before starting. Once you have your smooth mixture add in the
Golden Syrup and self raising flour.
Mix well untill you form a stiff mixture. If you find the mixture is remaining quite floury, add 3 tsp of water one at a time, mixing after each. You should find a dough like mixture forming.
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and lightly grease with either butter or margerine to prevent the biscuits from sticking.
Using your fingers pinch up a small amount of the dought and roll into a ball using your hands. Place the ball onto the baking tray and slightly flattern. You should be able to fit 3 rows of 3 on a normal sized baking tray. Dont flattern the biscuits to much as they will naturally flattern during baking. Once you have prepared your baking tray pop them in the oven for 8 - 12 minutes (depending how good your oven is), remove from oven and using a slice gently remove them from the baking tray (be carefull they may still be slightly soft) and place onto a cooling rack to cool/harden.. Once cooled store in an air tight container, if they last long enough to reach the container that is.
If you wish to add any extra items to your biscuits feel free. I have tried chocolate chips, or raisins. As mentioned in before I am thinking of trying dipping them in chocolate next time. Incase any of your arnt aware of how to do this, simply buy a normal large bar of chocolate, place it in a heat proof bowl and place this bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (make sure the bowl doesnt touch the water) let the water simmer and stir the chocolate, the bar will slowly melt. Once melted keep over the water, dip your biscuit into the chocolate mixture and let any excess drip off, place onto a tray lined with greaseproof paper and pop in the fridge to let the chocolate reharden. Store again in a air tight container once hardened, or ideally the fridge.:)
Hope you enjoy the recipe and happy baking.0
