Hi everyone,
Been reading these posts for a few days now and thought it was time I posted 5 of my own.- Walking DS2 to school in the sunshine
- Deciding to find out where that little path I've walked past 100 times actually goes to, finding out it actually goes round in a little loop but least i know now
- Weather being nice enough to actually hang the washing out on the line and let it have a nice blow in the fresh air
- Clearing out 2 large ironing baskets of ironing and putting it all away
- Baking 3 sheets worth of cookies which turned out more like biscuits but still tasted great. Not many left now

Hi all
Here are my five for the day:
1 - Whole oat groats porridge for breakfast, cooked on the woodstove overnight and reheated this morning, yummy!
2 - Craft class day, my skirt is coming along very well, had a little accident where I burnt a hole in the lining while pressing the hems but I made a patch and hand-stitched it on and it is ok (it'll live!). Next week hopefully will be finished!
3 - Lunch of small portion of fish and chips.
4 - Late afternoon at the hairdressers to have my horrid roots tinted, also had a haircut, all at model prices so very reasonable.
5 - Not too OS but as I got home late and nobody had cooked we decided on an Indian takeaway (we cook the rice ourselves to save). Very nice and also very reasonably priced.
Planning a very modest eating day tomorrow, as I feel I had two treats in one day.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all
Elizabunny - so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family
Sandy71 - If you find them pleasurable that's the main thing.
D_0_S101 - Welcome aboard.Maybe a little shocked but to tell the truth we all know you boys are more than capable
You'll all be pleased to hear that my crick neck has righted it's self. That wheat filled bunny has proved invaluable....not bad for £7.50. Just keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't come back. Going to take a pillow off the bed and see if that helps
My latest ones:
1) CSI on tv tonight
2) Another nice pork chop tonight
3) Another good day at work.....don't know quite what is going on but I'm ploughing through some major stuff at the moment :j
4) Applying for a job I'd love rotating out of the Shetland Islands
5) Having a good laugh with the boys at work today
6) Another no spend day
Hope you all had a good day. Take Care.
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Evening All,
Deja Vu. This is my second attempt, as I lost my first post. Sky internet is rubbish
5 for today
1. Took my 6th form Environmental group over to the Community Garden. It has a polytunnel now, so we didn't freeze!
2. One of the chaps who is in charge of the Community garden is going to find out if we can plant our Elm at the local Rugby Club. I am having difficulty finding somewhere as it will grow very big
3. DS2 played a football match against the local private school. They didn't win, but they had a good time.
4. Brought home 2 cottage pies from school. Made by the students in Food Tech lesson. £2 for both and enjoyed by DD and me! Boys had pizza and DH had F&C as he was working late and needed a treat! Everyone happy:)
5. Shopping took a reassuringly long time to put away. I felt like I had got a lot for my money in Mr M's:j
Nodding off, so Night Night:) HE xXx0 -
Hi all, one Sparrer returned to the nest
Just a quick one, will catch up with everybody's posts in the morning but like house elf I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open -
1. Had a wonderful time in Jersey, everything - hotel, food, weather, company, convention etc - was just right, I couldn't have wished for more
2. I walked all round St Helier for 2 hours in the sunshine on Friday and didn't even need the neb, the atmosphere is so much better there, or maybe it's just sea air that suits
3. The Jersey £1 notes are the size of Monopoly money, I hadn't realised they have their own bank notes, although £sterling is accepted everywhere the change is given in Jersey notes/sterling coins...all very confuzzling!
4. Even the charity shops are full of designer wear, Jimmy Choo shoes , Gucci jewellery, not much under about £25 . I bought a Versace jacket for £35 which still had the tag on so quite a bargain - even if I couldn't really afford/didn't actually need it
5. Lovely warm welcome home from the dog and one mog, t'other mog was stalking haughtily around with his flagpole tail in the air for a couple of hours but decided as the others were getting all the fuss he'd give an and join us. He's such a goober :rotfl:
Time to sleep, night night (((everyone))) sweet dreams
S x0 -
For Tuesday:
1. Making 40 Staffs oatcakes.
2. pottering around with my seedlings.
3. Crocheting a few more squares for my blanket.
4. Visiting family.
5. Managing another NSD!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Evening everybody  - more beautiful sunshine, at least for MOST of the day - clouded over a little towards the end of the afternoon, but that should mean a slightly warmer night-time.
house elf - I too thought that empty bottle greenhouse was fabulousbut was worried about strong winds as we're at the top of a hill - even my bins get blown around the garden when it's windy. But some kind of cucumber frame sounds as though it could work (PLUS not as many bottles to have to collect). Sorry to hear about the blind in your classroom - sounds like the kind of stunt that a certain young man in our family pulls
. Best of luck finding a site for your Elm tree.
Megs mum - hope you have a great time with your visitors - I'm sure they'll love you and your hospitality.
Kittikins - hope you've managed to shake off your tummy bug now.
ABerrisford - wd on starting your first thread :T - scarey moment isn't it - I worried myself silly that nobody would reply.
elizabunny - sorry to hear that your dh's uncle passed away - I'm sure he'll be grateful for you support. wd on your leek seedlings coming through and enjoy your meal at the weekend .
funkymonkey - congrats on your first batch of twinks :j - you'll find they don't hang around for long once your family get wind of them. wd to you and your friend for exercising together
.
CCP - wd you on managing to keep your cool after your colleague was so rude with the door. Shame about the hand-made choccies.
bella - your shopping trip with your DD sounds great :j - enjoy your butternut squash soup - something I've never had a go at, but my DS2 does a lovely version.
GirlySquare - Your mum must be so pleased to be back home again - hope all goes well for her, just keep your eyes and ears open and pay 'unexpected' visits.
niksyg - well done on using up your left-over pasta AND brown nanas.
nuttybabe - busy lady :T - not even any time for sock monkeys.
sandy71 - wd you on trying to reduce your household waste and on your home-baking :j. Lemon Drizzle Cake is my family's favourite too .
savingforoz - I can't remember if I asked you for the recipe for your Lentil Pate - but I can't find it in my Comp Recipe Folder. Do you have it to hand please?
zarazara - daffodils just say everything there is to say about spring, don't they.
Tealady - wd on sharing your cake in work - one way of enjoying the treat but only half the calories/fat content :T.
D_O_S101 - welcometo the thread and wd on finally peeping in to speak to us - we don't bite, honest. I LOVE finding out where footpaths/shortcuts go to as well
. wtg on drying the laundry out-doors, but omg you iron as well . Twice a year for ME - Christmas and the night before I go on holiday
.
Caterina - wd on nearly finishing your skirt and also on getting your hair done. I've booked the mobile hairdresser for Saturday morning - desperately need a tidy up - dulux dog fringe at the moment :rotfl:.
Carolynita - good to hear that your neck is feeling much better today - removing one of your pillows may just help - sounds like a good idea. Best of luck with the job application.
sparrer - welcome home again - sounds like you've had a wonderful couple of days :j. Jersey appears to be similar to Isle of Man. When we visited there, we were very surprised at the money being 'different' - had to make sure we got rid of it all before leaving the island as shops here are suspicious of it even though it's worth exactly the same as our own.
katholicos - wd on your no-spend-day :T AND your oatcakes :j.
Rather tired this evening, so I'm heading for bed right now. Speak again in the morning. nitey nite - love Ollie xxx.0 -
Good Morning Folks - Mmmmm lemon drizzle cake - just got to make one now (oven is on anyway with 2 fruit loaves in it so it is a shame to waste the heat - plus I have a slight egg oversupply at the mo and lemons a plenty - decision made!)
Busy day yesterday so more than 5 OS pleasures but here are a selection
* My little talk to the local history group seemed to go down well and be appreciated
* Clean and shiny house (wont stay like that but nice while it lasts)
* Neighbours calling by for a chat and saying how noce the girlies eggs are for breakfast
* People we are buying the house from (who have been a bit conspicuously silent on when it all might happen) are not pulling out. Phew!
* Lovely texts from my DIL about some research I have been doing
* Cupboard and fridge all full of lovely things including CHEESE - have not bought cheese since Christmas as the battle of the bulge goes on BUT have been 9.13 for some time now and its so nice to sit on at the table with friends chatting and eating cheese and grapes and maybe a glass of wine (also been abseemious (?sp) since 4th Jan)
See you all after the weekend. Enjoy the Spring weather! Enjoy watching your seedlings doing magic things!!
