Hi Blimus,I know if all the individual electric items seem so cheap how does the bill get so high.I may well be joining you down the storage heater route as it'll cost between £4 to £5,000 to replace our 30yr old back boiler system. My son is an electrician and can fit them for tea and biccies and I can have a nice gas fire in the living room.I'm hoping the £70 a month I'll save on gas will cover the extra leccy oh and no more boiler servicing, repairs, sludged up systems, leaking rads.Grr.
Anyway back to the point

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm oatcakes with cheese and bacon.....
used to live in Stoke and I miss them soooo much!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
As I'm passing, I just wanted to post one late pleasure from yesterday:
6) Just before going to bed last night I put away the two extra portions of veg curry I'd cooked for dinner, and was able to simply open the freezer door and put the containers on the shelf - no catching things as they fell out, or rearranging stuff to make room, or wedging the containers into an odd corner. It looks like my month of storecupboard challenge is taking effect! :j:j
Anyway...
elizabunny - I'm sorry to hear about your bereavement. I know we're all thinking of you.
sandy71 - well done on the using up, though I'd imagine the dog is not quite so happy at losing its chicken dinner.
D_O_S101 - welcome to the thread!
Carolyntia - I hope you get the job - it sounds like just what you want.
sparrer - it's lovely to see you back, and I'm very pleased to know you had such a nice time. Lol at your cat with the flagpole tail - mine tends to vanish outside as soon as I open the door, and sulk out there for several hours.
Megs mum - you and me both on the cheese - it's usually the downfall of my weightloss efforts!
I'll be back later with my five for today...Back after a very long break!0 -

Hi all,
Elizabunny, sorry about your loss, thinking of you and your DH.
Ollie, I think that hairdressers are the salvation of (female) humanity, they are much better than prozac to restore the good spirits (no wonder during the war women would renounce their sugar ration to use it as a substitute to hair-setting lotion!
Sparrer, good to see you back!
Megs Mum, yes please lentil rissoles recipe sounds great!
Katholicos, how do you make the Staffs cakes, could you please post the recipe? The ones I bought from Mr S were like an oatmeal pancake but I haven't seen them for sale for a long time now.
Here are my pleasures for the day:
1 - Whole oat porridge (leftover from yesterday) for breakfast, nice and filling, with a shot of agave syrup (supposed to be better for you than sugar or sugar syrup as it is low GI)
2 - Persuaded DH that having breakfast in the morning is more important than being early at work. Sat him down and fed him toast and marmalade. He was easily persuaded!
3 - Started work at 10am this morning so now I am finished, having clocked up 4 hours.
4 - Yummy quick lunch of fried sausage (veggie) and tomato sandwich, nice and naughty for a change - just had to do it!
5 - While I was working the potatoes were steaming themselves, so together with the beans I cooked yesterday I have an almost ready dinner (bean pie with potato mash topping).
Have a great rest of the day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
