    5 for today!

    1) Went to my final counselling assessment (have done 3 hours in total) and I passed!

    2) Had to miss my first ever school event :-( and a mother's day service at that but Mum and Dad went in my place.

    3) Had a leisurely look round Sainsburys on the way home from college. We were watching Jamie at Home the other day and the boys were very impressed by a beef and Guiness pie so I got all the ingredients for that as well as the normal shopping and will make it tomorrow.

    4) Got the boys from school and went to our nearest town. The boys had lots of hair cut off which is always fun because bigger son has the world's weirdest hair. He likes it quite long (like 4 inches) but it's like steel wool! Once it's past being really short, it is almost impossible to comb. He can "mould" it into any shape with his hands and it just stays there... The last time he went to the barbers she had to change scissors half way through because his hair had "taken the edge off them". Today a 10 minute whizz through for normal people took her over 30 minutes on bigger son... She did comment on it a few times!

    5) After being in the barbers for over an hour altogether, we went to the little book shop to redeem their World Book Day vouchers so I read a chapter from each for bedtime stories. Also popped to the sweet shop and dropped 2 bags off at the charity shop.

    6) Bigger son helped me make tea. It was grilled basa fillets, mash and erm.... baked beans. He peeled the potatoes and turned the fish over. He's got quite keen on cooking just recently.

    7) Did 30 minutes of the free step thing on the Wii whilst watching Road Wars (my guilty pleasure).

    8) Time for a bath now then will find something to listen to on iplayer.

Unfortunately I have to go back to court next Tuesday (3rd time this year) and am getting stressed already and its days away! Still, quite a lot going on tomorrow and I might do an Ikea run at the weekend as I am now down to 4 glasses from 12 thanks to keep bouncing them off the taps while I do the washing up.

Katholics - Mmm Staff oatcakes. The 10 year ex comes from Stoke and introduced me to these. I'm going to get him to bring some with him next month but can you please post the recipe :)

Sure! I found this recipe online, i tweak the amount of fluid and yeast a bit but this recipe makes great oatcakes, in my experience.

I dont mean to post, I just cant help it! I dont want to get behind!! (I might have sniffed the brandy too!)
On a side but not so side note, this thread is great, and reading it makes me smile, today I noticed how addicted we are! So many "just a quick / passing / Im at work " or whatever, we feel compelled, not just for us, but we like reading about others, as well as thinking that the world isnt so bad! I have to think of 5!!!! It makes me have to think of the good, even if I often vent the bad!

    Anyhoo!
Caterina missing dancing as a pleasure makes room for more! sounds like you had equal if not more!
Ozzy as i posted thank you the pate is yummy! more veggies recipes needed!
CCP. I wasnt laughing at - I just know the debates amd fun that followed " I told you / if you had listened / I knew that and you ignored me" etc :) I love it! What musical are you off to see?
Carolyntia ( as a person who used to comb my rug fringes till OH cut them off!) there is a difference between clean and obsessive and most house buyers should if realistic view from their perspective not yours! Lets hope you sell soon :) not a criticism at all hun :) I know how having trained friends that use the towels in the cupboard not the show ones is! I ran an open "trained" house it seems! So when people came to look it was ok ! buying a pub changed me but only cause Im tired, I dont recommend it! Get the shetlands job (no pressure!) and we stand a better chance of that coffee!
Thifty, congrats on the drier! and so OS!
Kitti, with your funds there is a world trip in the making, thats a long post to catch up on! Speciually mine!
    Eliza see you soon :)
Jennyjewell, FREDDOS! I NEED ONE NOW!!!!
Blimus.. lets talk.. Dynasty is one thing ( even in small type!!!!) but re runs.... come on girl!!!Im not really listening to lambing live on a diff tab as I type!
Houself, do i need to say more than "george clooney greenhouse..."
Dazi - nice one on the new dishwasher. I got my first one ( 18 years old and a donation as I couldnt see a use!) at 30 and there were 2 of us. My best friend thought it was stupid and she has 2 kids... until she got one... so i won the "you wont realise how you did without one, till she retalliated - with the "kids are the same" you dont want them but will wonder why you didnt do it sooner - im still without kids but she has a dishwasher so I win!
DOS will try recipe when i get a sec! Tho you have to go a long way to beat twinks I am up for anything! thank you!
Acey it sucks with court, makes you question, but from what you do an dwrite so naturally, no one will question. I wish it would all be over for you and your gorgeous boys , and its a shame it came to this for you, but you are so strong and you can be more so when needed. You are doing great, you know its worth it and we all support you and are here in any way we can be. Love the haircut story! But whats Basa?
Nutty.... napkins... what? with everything else you create??? Im going to veeto everything till my superhero sock monkey is done and i can order it from now on!

Thank you all for the lovely welcome back messages :A
Hi to all the newcomers who have appeared since I was away :hello:
    My 5 -

    1. While I was away I bought some 'shaggy' wool, the sort they make fluffy scarves from these days, and needles - I have no idea why, it was definitely an impulse buy as I haven't knitted for over 25 years . Anyway I've cast on and knitted several rows and am already finding it therapeutic, and it really is just like falling off a bike :D

    2. Phoned the HA to see if there's any idea of a date for the kitchen refurb as promised last year. The young lass I spoke to said she didn't know but thought it was 'due to funds' - I presume she meant lack of. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I can speak to the organ grinder, I do love a challenge!

    3. Postie brought me 4 green tea bags and a replacement cd/radio/cassette player to replace the one I bought recently. The first one's cd player didn't work so I phoned and they sent me another. This one is all okay so I said I'd return the first but they told me to throw it away! The radio and cassette are fine, so what a waste that would have been :(. However as it's very small I've decided I'll keep it upstairs for when I'm working there rather than send it to landfill.

    4. A nsd, there will be quite a few more of those this month (but not this coming Sunday of course, I've just arranged to go down to Oxon and take DM out to lunch)

    5. A clear out of the drawers/wardrobes produced a bag full for the charity shop. If I'm going to wear Versace there are some things that just have to go...even if it was a charity shop buy:rotfl:

    Night night (((everybody))) sleep well

    Moring all,

Sparrer - Welcome back glad you had a lovely break and good luck with the HA.

Yesterday was quite a challenging day as we had our gas meter changed and the engineer found we had a slow gas leak somewhere in the House:eek:. Managed to get a plumber to come out in the afternoon and a valve is not working properly on our boiler so he will have to come back to fix it (can't come back until Tuesday). At the moment we have no hot water or heating until fixed.
    Anyway the pleasures:
    1. The house didn't blow up from the gas leak, we are not sure how long we have had the leak. I managed to get the cooker switched back on(as gas) so could cook dinner and not have to resort to takeaway.
    2. We have enough money in the emergency fund to cover the cost of the repairs, this wouldn't of been the case a year ago so a real pleasure in this.
    3. Carried on using the contents of my freezer and made a chicken in tomato sauce and layed it between tortilla wraps and topped with cheese.
    4. Got a £10 Waitrose voucher in the post from some surveys I had done. Quite like the Whoopsies in Waitrose on a Sunday afternoon so will probably be spent then.
    5. Cleaning out the junk corner in the kitchen

Hugs to all who need them

    Yesterday's indeterminate pleasures:-

    1. A lovely pan of soup, using my 49p A£di butternut squash, a few carrots and an onion, not forgetting the chicken stock.

    2. Washing line dried - that's three times this week.

    3. Visiting a friend who is just out of hospital. Can't say he's much better but at least he's home. We enjoyed the walk there.

    4. Crocheting some squares for a blanket from odd and ends of yarn to further my 'use it up' campaign.

    5. Hearing that another friend who was told that she had had a heart attack has now been told that she hasn't.

    Bella.

My pleasures for the past few days are:
    • Finished my cross stitch for my mate who had her first baby on Tuesday – looks very good so I hope she likes it!
    • Finding language courses in our local adult education brochure – am hoping to be fluent in Spanish so we can eventually move to spain! Bit expensive so will stick to the CDs from the library until I run out of them!
    • OH did a tip run yesterday which always feels great, the last of the previous owners dodgy laminate has gone – nightmare!
    • OH made a shepherds pie for tea tonight which I am looking forward to
    • Cat looked so funny this morning, she was fast asleep and had total ‘bed head’ all her face was pillow creased and crinkled and she looked about 100 years old, made me laugh all morning! She even had a croaky early morning meow!
    • Got tomorrow off so will go bird watching I think, nice and free and very satisfying!
    • Found the name of the beautiful purple orchids that were everywhere on my honeymoon to Thailand last year, they are called dendrobium orchids and they were everywhere – so beautiful and remind me of an amazing honeymoon! Can even buy a cutting of one on ebay for a few quid, may get a couple as I don’t have green fingers!

Not quite such a good day yesterday as I was hoping for. Was going to post that I'd have a really good evening going to the cinema with the family and it only costing us £5.00 because we had 2 free cinema tickets from a competion and orange wednesday to get one of the other 2 tickets for free. However. When we got to the cinema kids jumping around with excitment we found out that Alice In Wonderland had been Freelist Suspended at Odeon and therefore the free guest tickets we had wernt valid for that showing. So instead of paying £5 yesterday it came to more like £20 not a happy bunny. Still we've got the 2 free tickets so will just have to find a film which hasnt been suspended.
