    Hi all

A quick one as I haven't done a stitch of work yet!

Here are my blessings for the day:

1 - Breakfast with DS, onion and spinach omelette (with spinach from my garden). It should really count as 2 blessings as it was lovely sitting at the table and eating together with DS, as well as the omelette being so nice and tasty!

2 - Banked the cheque that I received from my volunteering in January, travel and lunch amounted to £31.90, not bad to get it all back at once!

3 - Found a nice pair of string waisted sports trousers in the charity shop, for £1, good for keep-fit.

4 - In another charity shop yesterday I had spotted a couple of baking dishes, but could not get them at the time, went back this morning and the one I liked best was still there, and I got it.

5 - Lunch of defrosted leftover soup with some of the bean bake leftover from yesterday, with a small piece of leftover apple and rhubarb crumble from yesterday.

I hope for more blessings today meanwhile I got to go and do some work! Blessing in itself to have a job I think, though.

    Love to all xxx

    Good evening all.

Pleasures may be a little hard for me to find today as I'm suffering from a bout of sinusitis and feeling decidedly less than sparkly. (Particularly as I managed to cut myself on the packet of painkillers I opened to try and deal with the sinus pain - sums up my day, really! :()

Let's see what I can find, though:

    1) Porridge with honey and fresh mango for breakfast.

    2) Left work early as I was feeling so lousy, and got a wonderfully furry purry greeting from my cat when I got in, which makes up for the severe case of the grumps he had last night.

    3) My mum was delighted with the mother's day present I sent her. (Yes, I know it's early - darn efficient delivery companies! ;))

    4) Refound the roast pork bones I defrosted to make soup earlier in the week, and then forgot about. :o They still looked and smelt OK, though, so they're currently simmering away for stock.

    5) I don't feel up to cooking tonight so I'm going to make French bread pizza, inspired by a thread on HM pizza I've been contributing to elsewhere on the OS board. (OK, it will be cheese and tomato on toast, but French bread pizza sounds rather more posh! ;))

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all

Jexy - Can I crochet a cat for my mum for mothers day? Should only take this evening as i need to put it in post tomorrow!! :p Edited to say - there is now a super sock monkey for sale on my website!! tee hee! :D

    Mine for today -

1 ys croissant and a real cup of tea from the teapot for breakfast - still cant believe how much nicer tea tastes when made in teapot!!! :D

2 Toddler group this morning. We made mothers day cards so ds2 has made mine. And I even managed to get some of the mums up singing at the end of it!

3 Dd made cornedbeef, onion and potato pie in under 5's cooking which we had for tea and as ds2 slept through it I made his so that is in the freezer along with 3 meals of bolognaise (and 1 in fridge) that I cooked in slow cooker today.

4 All 3 kids made chocky easter nests in family seal which was great fun and the bloke doing it wasnt bad either!!! ;)

5 My mate who I made the sock monkeys for absolutly loved them! And will probably want more soon!!!

6 Home made bread in the oven although I did use the breadmaker for the dough!

Well, off to make my mum a sparkly pink cat for mothers day and have another look at my website as it seems to have a few teething problems!

    have a good evening everyone.

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. Two loads of washing line dried, spring must really be here.

    2. Nice clean and tidy house.

    3. A brisk walk.

    4. Doing a 'Reverbe' and finding a penny on the street.

    5. Making beef rissoles for dinner with such a small bit of beef, yet I reckon there's many a sausage consumed which sees less meat.

Evening all! Jexy, glad you enjoyed the pate! It's so yummy and so easy to make. I had it for lunch today and guess what I'll be having tomorrow as well....mmmm...

And yes, the lentils start off red but turn orange when they're cooked.

    My 5 for today:

    1. Delicious butterbean and mushroom curry for tea.

    2. Making great progress on polishing my short story, although there's still a way to go to get it all sparkling and shiny, ready to publish. A guilty pleasure as I snaffled some time at work to do it :o - yes, I know that's naughty, will try to make up for it tomorrow.

    3. Waking up feeling truly inspired by the talk that I went to last night, by a historical novelist. She was a brilliant speaker, so entertaining. She threw up her job, with a resignation letter that ensured she'd never get a reference, in order to write novels. She's now twenty novels down the line. Writing historical novels isn't my thing, but, boy, was she inspiring :T.

    4. Being given a bottle of whisky and some mulled wine by the client where I'm working right now, with the promise of some sherry and port if I want it. Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?!

    5. My friend being kind enough to promise to catsit for me when I go to London later this month. She's lovely :A.

  • CCP ouch you have my sympathy with bad sinus's(don't think thats spelt right) Hello everyone
1,Worked out the cost of running the storage heating and with the extra for the daytime leccy it worked out rather expensive so shelved that idea.On the plus side have discovered baxi are now making back boilers again.I can buy one on line for £1,100 with a front fire and its supposed to be a straight swap using existing pipe work.Going to phone for quotes tomorrow but its got to be cheaper than putting a combi in.pleeease.
2,Visited my elderly dmil who has moved in with relatives, she's had breast cancer but is looking really well today.
3,Paid a visit to my favorite store ,wilkos:)and stocked up on toiletries and I bought 2 lovely little red glass tea candle holders for 45p each, their glowing away on my fireplace at the moment.
4,Hurrah for the slow cooker despite being out all day it's so nice to have tea ready just to serve up.
5,Popped in tesco just for a couple of bits as its nxt door to wilkos and dh and me shared a pot of tea for one in the cafe and a reduced price cake each.Next time they announce record profits it won't be down to us.:rotfl:
