Sorry son is suffering, frith.
Welcome back DforV, you've been missed
Pleasures for today
1 sad to hear of the death of Maya Angelou but the pleasure is all those fabulous quotes, my favourite being “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”
2 cleaned the conservatory. It is fit for habitation once more
3 DS went to the revision session for RE exam next week. Moaning and complaining all the while, which made me laugh
4 OH and I went out for lunch and then for a visit to Shugborough courtesy of our NT pass. Was much better than other times we've visited as there are 10 new rooms open
5 jacket spud and beans and cheese for tea. Cheese on first, naturally.
Sleep tight all except Mhags, who needs to get up soonI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Coo that took some catching up on!
BoP - love the squirrel
1. elderflower cordial, yum, sweet and sharp at the same time
2. washed up
3. batch cooked bolognaise sauce
4. picking up 7000 celeriac plants tomorrow:)
5. oaty apple slice with the wrinkled apples DS laughed at!
6. its stopped raining
Had a little bit of a moment over our unwanted visitor this week. Ho hum and away we snap!
Sanity missing, presumed dead.

Poor little lad Frith, sending prayers for him to be better soon
Yellow stuff DfV??? Are we in the same country?! We've had three days of constant rain here
DD you describe your trip so well I can almost see it. Pleased you got about and saw some sights
(((PK))) chin up, we're all here for you
1. Cleaned the bedroom to within an inch of its life as I have a friend staying in it next week and don't think she wants to sleep on a bed of dog hair!
2. nsd/npd
3. had my favourite dinner, grilled pork belly strip with garlic mushrooms, baby asparagus and hm blue cheese dressing, very rich rich but very
4. Cleaned the grill roof, floor, walls and door. How do they get so yucky so quickly?
5. Tennis
Sweet dreams0 -
Ooops, had I left it so long? I am sorry...!
Will play full catch up in a bit. RL interfering.
1. DD was round yesterday with DGS, DGD was with friends, so didn't see her. The pleasure of their company and the fact that they zapped my garden, which is now weed-free.
2. Dr C. meanwhile, cleaned the kitchen and re-organised the cupboards. He used some shallow storage trays/baskets to corral like with like, so all the coffees are together (de-caff, wake the dead, posh) all the spice jars are, all the salts (sea, table, lower sodium). When did we need three types of salt all of a sudden....?
3. Live music club. I forgot my phone this week, so couldn't video anyone. Guilt a bit as it's for our FB page, but I could also shut my eyes for a change and just enjoy the music washing over me. Lovely. That's how I listen and I can't do that if I'm videoing.
4. Freebies. New toothbrush and super clean teeth. A Roddy Doyle book for DGS, some foot cream and the new shower lotion for me.
5. Lovely new student to chat to, registered onto a course - so I get paid something. Hooray.
Edit: Cut my own hair and DD tidied it for me, ordered DD a £70 jacket identical to mine for £8.59, plus postage. £12 saved on haircut, plus saving on jacket.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Just lost my post twice, what's going on? Oh well hugs to all, am too tired to re type. See you tomorrow. :A zzzzzzzOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Hey everyone sorry I've been gone so long, am trying to catch up on all your posts. Putah has not been working for weeks,we are not allowed to use internet at work. DS has tried to fix it but it is still freezing now and again so will try and post quickly.
Recent pleasures:
1. quote from council to remove old fridge freezer £30. Shoved it outside in forecourt and someone has taken it ! Yay!
2. new carpet fitted in hall, stairs and landing. First 2 quotes with underlay and fitting over £900 ("smilies" not working for me at the mo, but take this as an EEK!!!) but went to a local back street warehouse and got lovely quality one with underlay for £330 and paid fitter £59 courtesy of gift from bank of mum and dad bless em
3. I have a week off work.
Sadly not much relaxing so far as have been pulling up the old carpet and underlay and bagging it up to take to the tip. Plus visits to hospital. Plus as my car broke down on Friday :-( having to walk everywhere as taxis and buses are so expensive.
4. Due to the bank holiday the garage could not fit my car in until this Friday (tomorrow) which has given me time to research on internet and it may be a sensor at £80 rather than the whole clutch/gearbox the garage were quoting for at over £500. Fingers crossed the sensor fixes the problem
5. Due to internet research and advice from BiL (who is a navigator for a rally driving team) I have managed to get the car started and driven round the block a few times so should hopefully manage to drive to the garage tomorrow (less than half a mile away) rather than call on breakdown cover.

Hi all. Going to try again this morning, just kept losing my text last night.....
Well I've had a few spendyish days. DD had party but I have a little gift bag where I keep a few pressies so we didn't do too badly. She really enjoyed the party and came home full of chatter.
Bought some Asda basics lemon curd and marmalade and dark chocolate yesterday - about 22p each. We have choc orange cup cakes in the oven now - hardly any flour, it's all chocolate, marmalade and sugar - oh well worth a try. Will make some more lemon ones before the weekend as the cake went down a treat. Must also bake some carrot cakes too - my repertoire is growing!
Need to get some tyres for the charabang. So will go out first thing before I meet my friend for lunch. Put them on Mr T and then pay off either this month or next - probably next month as I want to pay off scotpower this month and switch to Daligas. Aliok gave me a link so hope it still works as the money will come in handy.
Need to turn up the LBD we bought for DD this week. Not sure if I've mentioned that or whether it was I my lost posts. Lovely Monsoon dress. She wanted some high shoes that looked brand new but were £18, however after dancing in my shoes last night she definitely wants flatties now, so glad we didn't get them
Oh well off to test the cakes.
ps thanks DFV. I am currently on VAT but will try to get some payroll experience. Definitely agree that getting paid properly is the priority. :rotfl:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

1. It stopped raining! 3 days of it while I was itching to get outside, so lots of work to be done out there. Pruned back the apple and pear trees which have both got leaf curl, looking much tidier now, and planted out the potentilla
2. Practised with the hand luggage space, got almost everything in that I need. Fortunately my friend and I are sharing a hold case for kettle, towels etc so we'll have plenty of space if we decide 5 pairs of trousers, four dresses and four skirts etc., aren't enough for a week!
3. Working my way through the fridge and freezer, I made some crispy duck rolls with half a duck breast, some sauteed carrot, onion and celery. We have to improvise
4. Got an email re my car insurance renewal, the same price as last year and includes home start breakdown. Had a look through the sites but couldn't find anything to match so am happy with that.
5. Need to go past m@t@l@n to the petrol station tomorrow and have just learned on another forum that their £10 dress sale is on again....Will she, won't she?
Have a good rest of the evening0 -
1 - Bit of a lie in as wasn't in work until 11. Was glad of it as I'm struggling to get to sleep at night at the moment.
2 - Served the most lovely, cheery old lady today. She definitely brightened my day.
3 - Speaking to a work colleague, thanking her for her wedding invite. Unexpected and very much looking forward to it.
4 - Getting a job done tonight in the alloted time so didn't get held up at work.
5 - OH will be down tonight0 -
Morning! It's Friday here already
my day off and as usual a frantic catch up on chores, errands and stuff ( that makes me sound like a 1950's housewife doing my chores and errands! )
My DD2 is thoroughly miserable at school again , biatches being very biatchy. I detest them. I have just sent an email to another school enquiring about vacancy. They have priority for catchment area, siblings at school which she doesn't meet but maybe they will have a space. The last one we applied for didn't. I cannot ruin her school days by continuing to send her to this school for the next 4 years. It is the insidiousness of cruelty that other girls hand out. I don't remember if it was as bad as this when I was her age but it is just so vicious. I wonder if their mothers have any idea of how they behave. Teachers wonder if she is depressed...er no I don't think so , just so bloody fed up with what is said to her everyday. My hugs are not enough to protect her through the day when she is at school.
However ...much as I love her I ain't taking her supermarket shopping again for a while! So , my free delivery offers all used up and too mean to spend $11 on delivery, we set off as soon as I got in from work yesterday....ah yes that will be rush hour Mhags! Stop, start in traffic for 15 minutes! The last 3 weeks I have been less than $60 , no fruit and veg just what I needed and I have actually managed on what we had from store cupboard / freezer. $160.00 last night ...no fruit and veg....but a DD2 saying oh can we get this and ooooo can we have that! I did have a $10 voucher but even still.....! Did buy 2 gorgeous bouquets of flowers that were very reduced.
Work was fine and over for the week...hurrah! Had some lovely customers in throughout the day , so nice to chit chat with them.
Train in and out, seat on both.sometimes on way home it's standing room only. I didn't bring anything home with me, I threw it out at work.....whilst I didn't like doing this they don't always get eaten at home and have to go in my bin.
Weather has cooled again. We've had an unseasonably warm May....record breaking of course...we do like our record breaking weather out here
So heating is on , which as well as warming us up also dries the washing. It is floor vented heating so I just put the clothes horses over them and job done!
We are holding a fund raising afternoon tea today for DD1's friends. We will give the money to the unit where OH had his life saving treatment. So I shall be a busy baker today. Looking forward to it:)
My new specs are ready to pick up from optician and a pair of jeans I bought and wore once on Saturday look ridiculous after I washed them ( label said there may be some colour fading) I will not wear them again so they shall be going back to shop for a refund. Then I shall have to do my dash between 2 fruit shops to see who's cheapest this morning
Night night to you all....off to put the oven on and start being a busy baker:)0
