1. On the way over to the in laws we stopped in at home bargains as we don’t have a local one and picked up a few bits, plant food, hayfever tablets that sort of thing.
2. In laws where in fine fettle and it’s always lovely to catch up with them and amble around their country garden.
3. We were loaded up with plants of baby cucumbers, beans, aubertia and a few others with names I don’t know.:p
4. And of course the cat who is safely ensconced worming treatments in the morning, flea treatments in the evening and then some treats to get him to forgive us tomorrow,:D
5. They have a rescue bird arrive who is actually totally lovely, it’s like one of the family and completely interactive, they are looking for an older person to look after it as it is a house bird, I would be sorely tempted but we leave windows and doors open.;)
6. We met a few “characters”, and caught up in general it’s scarey how time passes. They plied us with lovely food, fresh bread, potato salad and meats.
7. Got home in the wee hours after settling the cat in we let the ferrets out who think it’s the best thing ever running riot in the wee hours.0 -
Choc orange cupcakes were delicious. Last ones finished last night with cream!
Took the charabang in to the tyre place and they said I still have 1000 miles left (I'm sure they said that 1000 miles ago) but I will drive carefully and definitely get them replaced soon.
Delicious homemade pizza yesterday - was a joint effort and we all thought it was fantastic. I also made some HM oven chips - everyone loved them and I need to make two trays next time.
Planted my tomato plants yesterday - looking forward to HG tomatoes sometime soon. The chives, mint and thyme have all come again this year - not sure what was wrong last year, and I've also bought a coriander and parsley plant. Any other suggestions for container gardening would be appreciated please.
And my number 5 is DD showing me how to use mysupermarket. Amazbugs. Spent £24.22 for the week and got everything on the list that we printed out. Very Amazbugs - it's a revelation for me. Slightly embarassed I haven't used it beforebut thank heaven for teenagers! :T

1 'Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it'0 -
Afternoon/evening everyone! :hello:
Busy weekend, it seems! I have a few pleasures for the past couple of days:
1) Spent DH's birthday vouchers from last year - National Garden Vouchers - at a local garden centre. Our garden is slowly beginning to have erm, plants in it other than weeds! :j
2) Our first couple of home grown radishes picked from the garden yesterday!
3) Pizza deal with MiL and FiL at the pub last night. And they paid.
4) Day at the Rutland County Show today. I love seeing the cattle lines and then munching on a locally reared beef burger. Oh, and then buying the most divine VERY local cheese. Mmmmm.
5) All sorted for school tomorrow. This must be a first.
Speaking of which, I need to crack on with children's reports. I only have 21 children in my class, but it doesn't make it any easier it seems!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
VJsmum the hill walking and afternoon tea sound lovely! But you're welcome to Alton Towers, not good for my tummy - or your DS's, by the sound of it. Hope he' fully recovered now.Oh, and no she didn't - well not in that shop anyway
mhags I am sorry your DD is still suffering, just hope the school follows through with their promises. Big hugs to her
Frith sounds like the allotment is coming on beautifully, and you're already eating some of your produce! Sounds like things might get a shake up after your letter, fingers crossed for your son. And for the fence being moved tomorrow. Will look forward to hearing if/when...
mcculloch I understand the loo roll book mark, I admit to doing it too. And mine is definitely clean as well! What else would you use when you read in the loo?!
DFV oh I love nastursiums. Planted a few from the £shop and they've grown well. English heritage membership, excellent. There are some wonderful sites to visit in this area. Re tennis, I wish I was playing but my bellows wouldn't let me run so it's spectating only but still love every second.
DD hope you enjoyed the solitude of a house to yourself for the weekend, what a lovely family to vac through for you and leave you supper as well. How thoughtful
BoP yellow thing here getting me acclimatised for my holliers on Tues. Good on ya Mrs B, you gotta keep your eye on him
Vicky the Rutland Show sounds super, I've missed going to county shows since the children left home. You make me chuckle, describing those beautiful cattle then and your local beef burger
1. Busy couple of days, cleaning the house. Hard work but feels good now it's done
2. Day with DM, DB and 9 other members of the family to celebrate her 93rd birthday. She got rather pickled (we're sure she has no blood in her veins, only brandy) which made the little ones giggle which in turn had us laughing at them
3. This weeks cs find was a £1.99, lovely lacy white cardigan to take on holiday, lightweight and just enough to cover the shoulders when we visit churches etc.
4. Current bank account which I've had just one year, has paid my almost £300 in interest to date
5. The car, which I bought 11 1/2 months ago, has only done 7k miles. Considering the long journeys I've done I'm quite pleased with that but will see if I can better it in the next 12 months
6. Booked a weekend in Bournemouth later in the year, but for this week Croatia will have to do. The friends I'm going with were a bit concerned about the floods there, but I told them as we'll be on the coast all the water will run into the sea anyway, so no problems. Always look on the bright side of life, de dum de dum de diddly dum de dum
Have a good week, keep save and hope everything goes as it should for everyonex x

Sparrer: I did chuckle at the pickled in Brandy 93 years young, 7k is not much mileage at all, we have cut right back but at 12k now.
Didn’t win the lottery so back in tomorrow;)
1 We went to an afternoon boot fair to get out more than anything we ambled around but didn’t get much 2 vast punnets of strawberries.:D
2 Home and after a quick tea we spent the rest of the day in the garden, planted out all of the plants MIL sent us back with, built some trellis for the beans to run up, dug over the fence garden, planted out the cherry tree and magnolia. Weeded and tidied and planted out more plants to the pots and hanging baskets. phew:cool:
3. 2 pint glasses filled with ice and cider.
4. The roast was cooking away with veg and roast spuds so minimal effort really but lovely quick food.
5. Looking forward to a nice hot soak after all the garden work, I do really enjoy working on the garden but it does amaze me how much time I can spend out there, next up is fence painting and moving the patio.:)0 -

Quick pleasures for today:
1) A lie in.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) The appearance of MrN and a long piece of string. He has taken the fence panels down and put the string up to show the man where to put the new fence tomorrow. He has managed to choose a day where neither of us is in to check progress.
4) An email from the Chief Executive re-iterating what I was told on Friday - that the surgeon's secretary will phone me tomorrow to discuss bringing smaller son's operation date closer. Goodness knows what I'll do if she says, "It's the 15th July or nothing"!
5) Surviving an injury so gruesome one son did a little retch and one son's "legs went wobbly". I caught my big toe nail in between 2 of the floorboards in my room. I wouldn't mind, but it's not the first time I've done it! Now have about half a toenail and it was quite impressive for a while.
6) Went for a walk and watched a steam train go past and found a geocache.
7) School friend came for tea and I cooked sausages, HM potato wedges, carrots and got some braised red cabbage from the freezer. Rhubarb (allotment) and tinned peach crumble for pudding.
8) Between us we managed to shoo a hornet out of the house! 2nd one in the living room this year.0
