Up very late from the music club, still lively. Lots of lovely news shared, thank you. DfV, thanks too. I was a long time sorting out a new chat room for the trivia quiz I run, got it sorted but had spent quite enough time on the net.
    Best pleasure of weekend:
Sunday and snuffly kisses at the Stud with yearling Boo, nearest camera and Fatty, her nearly 2 y-o half-brother. I can't believe my luck in being involved with two such beautiful animals.

    KisseswithBooandFatty.jpg

    I love this photo too
    IMG_5050.jpg

Photos by Dr C, who is quite good with a camera phone and even better at being my taxi. :D The man in the pic is their breeder. Top notch bloke, his wife equally lovely.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Evening all, drizzling with rain outside and heating is on .
Had a busy old day off. Ran around for most of the day so I was glad to get my feet up at the podiatrists an hour ago!

DD1 had a medical appointment first thing.....nurse obviously thought I was her as she suggested I take her to school and then come back...er no....we kind of need her here! We then went for a sneaky pot of tea and shared a muffin before I took her into school.

Went into the smelly , dark and dismal charity shop....served by an abrupt lady ....could I please see the cardigan that was on display....you mean I've to take it off the mannequin?....er, yes please and then I will buy it!
Also bought a lovely tartan tunic....they only accept cash, didn't have enough, would go to bank, went to bank....we don't have change....can you come back when you have change.....went in later and she did apologise for being abrupt!

Then in to next town and returned a pair of jeans.....they had faded dreadfully and streaking after one wash....I'll give you the money this time, said the shop assistant as if I was trying to pull a fast one...er, no....I expect to be able to wear something more than once!

Home quickly tidied bathrooms and kitchen then had a wander up our wee Main Street. Popped into salvos having donated 2 tops and 2 pictures. Saw lovely white, very deep pasta bowls on the table....do you like them, yes I do but they are from aldi and cheaper there.....got 50% off! I wouldn't usually haggle but I'm not going to pay more for second hand than brand new! Tub of fruit for a dollar. All chopped up and in my freezer.

Home again and discovered OH was home earlier than planned so we had an unexpected lunch together then had his medical appointment to go to.

Home....slight difference of opinion with DD1 who is full of the cold and did not want to go to her physio class.....she went to her class!

Dash up to chemist to pick up prescription. Stopped at bakers on way back and bought a custard slice to share with OH. Also a lovely loaf of Turkish bread.

Home and made spicy pumpkin soup with turnips from the garden, carrots and potato too. Then decided to make some nachos too. So we had a lovely family tea at the dining table with us all in at the same time.

Then dash round to podiatrist who kept popping in and out trying to sort my orthotic ....he kept apologising and I kept saying its fine...it was, literally my first chance to sit and do nothing all day :)

Home and half a custard slice and masterchef on the telly!
Think I will go back to work for a rest tomorrow :) ( and only one little day then 2 days off)

DFV there was much sarcasm with the sandals comment! They are not pretty...they are orthopaedic...I don't think the 2 go together.
DD love the blanket but love your kitchen units more:) we have a nice kitchen in our house back home....here it's practical but not pretty!
I have never watched game of thrones either.
PK how long do you have left to go at work? When do you start yiur Scottish tour? ( 23 days till mine;))
giddy and super saver I agree , this is the loveliest thread , isn't it?

    Have a wonderful Wednesday :)
  • Let’s get ready to Recycle

Like a scrapbook looking more for a patchwork quilt. Now nana used to rag work her mats years gone. And the stud farm. Walks and towing kids. Finger tapping songs. Still no &.No wucking furries. Job changes, new doors to open. Lovely people. Gosh I sleep ruff! Arrgh Grizzle there you all. And come on is it not Porage.

5 Bio Disgorges. Contaminated waste. Bin inspectorate, code name General W. Aste. Just whatever not. In a crush at the Salt Mine to limit the amount of waste that is produce, well apart from the hot air, the bins were ceremoniously removed some time back. This had the benefit that we idle proletariat would get up off our bums and walk to the strategically positioned and optimised for tomorrow, recycle centres. Gladly we did, but one lone bin remained. Now, I hears you all gorging, not the one that the sponge bag goes in from the hotel bedroom, but the one that is in the pink tiled room. No, at the Salt Mine, ladies, it is like the poop scoops scenario or for those of a ruffer disposition, like BoP, carry your own !!!! sir!. Well, one bin remained, and that was in the galley, and not the heads. Last week, the green security patrol saw that this receptacle was there, and it was removed. Gone without trace. Oh bum of many a read tea leaf, gone. And forgetten. Now, after a week, the local recycling centre, three bins in one, waste, recycle and liquid, is looking like the great strikes of 1979. But today, we has the gaffer abored. And a new bin, coloured Orange, has been purchased at grave expanse. Delivered, you know, you get home delivery on your groceries as well, It has been duly paraded to all and positioned where the previous bin was. Glory shines all around. But hope has faded, tis for recycle waste, and not for food. Drips continue to be dropped as slaves wonder to the three bin recycle centres to drip their bags. Whatever next, instant tea?

4 All washed down with a decent biscuit, chocolate coated of curse. Later, and make sures yous lot no tell Lady BoPsie, Cream Donut! Anyhow, just thinking about all the old boiled sweets we used to have in a previous Salt Mine, rather it was a bit closer to the oil wells. They were used by the self loading cargo when our kites came back to land, sometimes at the correct aerodrome. Well I am crunching now my usual claw sandwich and today, as a special treat, I have the good old fashioned sour grapes.

3 Well, YestDi got to the age where I am older than Mum BoP was. Bin hard work for BoP, only five lives gone, a couple of rebuilds and a remould. Keeps chuffing along!

2 Nite is there a football game played. Only 5 more to go afore Engerland return home, heads bowed.

1 Don I just natter on about absolute nonsense!

I just love it sum times. Well, all things goggle site. Seems it thinks I am across the pond and links me to some bear. Yep, that is ruff with BoP, but no, Smokey Bear. Now I dares yous lot to put it out.

Frith - hurrah for allotment cameraderie & there is nothing wrong with bribery. The skirting boards may not get done often - this is as it should be - you need to have something useful to offer a heavily pregnant friend & just sitting is rarely helpful.
Giddynmg - tennis, sunshine, and free learning for fun - sounds glorious! (What will you be studying? [I have all the curiosity of a squirrel & the tact of a brick.])
supersaver - risks are good for you, but take your own mug & brew tackle for the first day. (I've a little tub of teabags, coffee & sugar sachets that fits into the enamel mug that drops into my lugabout bag.) Awed at your safety fund!
VickyA - well done on a 7 mile walk along a reservoir & bringing everyone back! (Was this why you were teaching swimming?!) Fresh bedlinens & good brew - bliss!
Purple kitten - apparently there is a headphone code: "one in, come & talk: 2 in, I'm concentrating" (cheers, teen) but on this floor listening with headphones is not really quite the ticket. Singing is better tolerated! I loose track of space & time in the garden too - unless digging... 4 & 5 will be along. Give them a chance?!
DD - what a *glorious* blanket! If you're taking orders, please may I form an orderly queue? (Smashing kitchen, table & dog too!) That fudge donut sounds utterly scrumptious! Ah, male modesty, a wonderful thing & as commonly found as purple unicorns. Bless him! Monthy Python in a thesis?! Well that will have given the External an unepxected treat. SAw this & wondered if it might be of interest:
    http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2014/jun/02/sick-rose-gruesome-art-medical-illustration-will-self
VJsmum - you are not alone, but may be subject to outbursts of GoT evangelism. I reckon it's the best TV series on at present. The bakefest sounds grand, and I do admire daughter & friends for making General Studies a bit more interesting for whomever has to mark it all. "got paid for Korea"? I hadn't realised it was for sale. (sorry!)
mcculloch - lovely pics! What will you call Fatty when he's a handsome strapping sleeklined stallion?
mhagster - an assistant who apologises? And another who is sniffy at a return? Well done despite tempation! Your family tea sounds wonderful - must try harder with mine! Ah, ortho clearly refuses to be pretty. Ongoing blue tape not really an option?!
BoP - always good to read your posts & I think you may be being a touch generous with the Engerland side. Older than mother? Congratulations!

    OS Pleasures!
Tailor back! Waved & grinned. Odd how I hadn't noticed how good that feels.

Email from the voice of fire alarm tests - he's leaving. Tuesdays will be *very* different in the future. The pleasure is in hearing assorted mimics making a very creditable attempt to replicate his style....

Playing sort-the-consultant by phone - sort of win in that we see our usual boffin within the month but the second opinion he wanted is an endangered species & so the October date stands. Pleasure is seeing boffin #1....

Team meeting leftovers not only included fresh strawberries but also a miniature Green & Black Dark Chocolate. Which is now secured in case of emergency.

Looking forward to my nailbinding lesson from a local fibre witch tonight.

Hugs to all who need them, courage patience & slug-free growing likewise, & wish me luck with the fibre...

DD - that blanket looks great! :T

mcculloch - isn't Boo beautiful? :happyhear

    1) Cheeky blackbird sitting on the step and peering in at me through the patio doors. He would have got a nasty shock if Isis had been in the room at the time!

    2) Signed up to a new rewards website advertised in the MSE newsletter.

    3) Received a £15 voucher from doing surveys on a site I was already signed up to. ETA - make that £40 - another survey site has just paid out what it owes me, too. :D

    4) A group of WWII aeroplanes flying over the office at lunchtime. We didn't recognise most of them, but they were still impressive even if you didn't know what they were.

    5) Isis has been a bit subdued for the past couple of evenings, but is back to her usual whirlwind self tonight.

    6) Another competition win - tickets to an event, although sadly I can't go so I'm going to try to find another owner for them at work tomorrow.

    7) A well-stocked store cupboard so I had plenty of alternatives when I took the chicken intended for dinner out of the fridge and found it didn't smell very nice. _pale_
Back after a very long break!

Thanks DfV, mustn't risk being without a cup of tea! Well I was calling it savings, but it's not really is it because we aren't DF, so safety fund it is. I'm so hoping we don't need it. Feeling a bit sad tonight as I don't like letting people down, however it is the right thing for me to do as I was fading fast. I told a few people some home truths today and the bitter crone who has been undermining me at every stage went home tearful. I don't like doing that to anyone and it wasn't intentional, however you reap what you sow, but I also think it was tears of frustration at her not getting her own way for a change. Must shake myself out of feeling guilty, she's caused enough trouble and me more than a few nights tears.

So to pleasures, don't really feel any, but let me dig deep:
    1. Chatting to an old colleague today by surprise on the phone - lovely surprise.
    2. Cup of tea with my sil after work, she is a love.
    3. DD is a treasure, I hope I don't let her down with my work choices
    4. Feeling an overwhelming sense of freedom - haven't had my contract yet - yippies, burnt my bridges now. They said it was in the post. Yipes. (Just joking - keep the faith.
5.Had a few good meetings today with colleagues, I think I'd let old crone cloud my view, and others' too

    Lovely blanket, DD.

DfV - I could do with some strawberries (just one on the allotment!) and our local strawberry farm opens on Friday. :-)

VJsmum - I haven't watched Game of Thrones either as I don't have Sky or whatever it's on.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep then woken early by the torrential rain. It has rained ALL DAY.

    2) Smaller son had a good day at school. Bigger son hasn't mentioned his day yet.

    3) Went into Worcester to have a cup of tea with my friend from school. (Not the one who comes round at the weekends!)

    4) Lovely haul from the charity shops, none of your abrupt ladies today, MHags! I got: white M and S shirt that will be good for smaller son's high school in September, 2 T shirts for smaller son, 2 T shirts for me, mini ping pong table (£3!) and a DVD of the Golden Compass.

    5) Not from charity shops but went in search of the replacement cardie/hoodie bigger son adores from H and M (he has had 6 of varying colours over the years!) and they were 3 for 2 so got 2 for bigger son and 1 for smaller son. Also got a lovely dressing gown for smaller son from M and S that he can wear in hospital. Nowhere else is selling them at the moment. He has been wearing it since he got home!

    6) Took bigger son to his first climbing lesson at a new leisure centre built in the grounds of my old high school. He loved it but he was the oldest by about 5 years, definitely the only one at high school and he not only towered over the children but also the lady teacher! (Not the man one, although he was nearly as tall as him).

He was a bit silly and I had to try hard not to laugh (as did the ladies on the bench next to me!) He has done a fair bit of climbing before and really didn't want to be involved in the "warm up" games that were like musical statues and running from one side of the room to the other. He was about 10 metres behind the eager small children. One exercise was running then lying down on the floor and he just didn't bother getting up!!

He had 3 climbs and shot up some level 4 routes (apparently) and was used as an example of how to abseil down :-) The teacher is going to try and rush him through levels 1 and 2 so he can do harder stuff and be with some teenagers.

    7) Cobbled together a tea but it was rather nice. Roast chicken chopped up, peppers, onions and noodles and the "sauce" was peanut butter and plum jam as I couldn't find anything else. Not bad at all.

    8) My Grow Your Own magazine arrived in the post.

    DD - wail, I can't see the blankie :( Bet it's fab!

Couple of days' goodies for me:

    1. Sunshine (in between all the rain)

    2. Bought a frying pan for the as yet no idea when we're moving in, flat! £4 down from £14.

    3. Have spent today luxuriating on my Latin and Greek course :)

    4. Bought a Latin book there and saved £5 :)

    5. Had my best ever weekly observation at school yesterday, yippee! The children love their French lessons and my lovely teacher was happy to observe me teaching something she knows very little about.

    6. Yummy apples, trying to get more than my 5 a day.

    7. Played lots of card and board games with DD after dinner both days. I'm hoping that we will keep up this new tradition when we're on our own, as it started out as an activity to keep us occupied whilst mummykins watched a boring programme on TV each night. When we have access to our own TV though....

    8. I'm already mid-way through my detailed planning of next weeks' maths and English lessons, hoorah! Hopefully this will mean I can have a nice weekend (well, one day at least....I do have a LOT of paperwork to sort out (again) before my uni tutor comes in next week!)

    9. Treated myself to some cute ladybird drawing pins in WHSniff's.....well, they were reduced and buy one packet, get one free. Any if I'm lucky, I may one day have a classroom that I need to pin things up in....I'm a sucker for a ladybird :)

3 - A free treat from Lush. They came round local stores/businesses with a bag of goodies for the teams as a RAK. I got a little sugar scrub thing.

4 - Chat with my Gran tonight. She is a real gem and I must keep in touch with her more often.

5 - Andy Murray pulling it back and making it through to the next round of the French Open.
