Popping on with today's pleasures.
Thanks sparrer!
VJsmum - that is the one I've just got. I'm sure I'll enjoy it as I've read 3 already and they were great! He is a fab author isn't he!?
KK - well done on passing your last uni part!
1 - Still a lovely day despite the weather man suggesting otherwise.
2 - Early finish at work today.
3 - Travelled up to Oxfordshire for the weekend. Having a weekend off is a nice treat.
4 - Starting my new Mitch Albom book.
5 - OH has just said he'll take me for pancakes tomorrow.0 -
1) Isis was so much better this morning that I cancelled the vet appointment. I will now spend the next couple of days anxiously hoping it was the right decision. :undecided
2) Watching three great tits fighting over who got to go first on the bird feeder.
3) Essay number one has been submitted. :j
4) And essay number two is written up in note form, ready for typing up to begin tomorrow.
5) Changed the bed so I've got nice clean sheets to sleep on tonight.Back after a very long break!0 -
It's very quiet on here!
Glad Isis is OK. Matilda is supposed to be going to be neutered on Wednesday but I think it may be too late.....
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in!
2) Lots of texts from smaller son. (They're at their father's).
3) My brother came down to play on the Wii and helped me polyfiller a crack over the fireplace beam thingy where it has shrunk since being installed.
4) Went to Sainsburys and B and Q.
5) Went to Ikea (quite a long way from here) and got a chest of drawers for sons to bung all their stuff in. And a throw. And some candles, obviously.
6) Pie and chips from the van for my tea.
7) Put the chest of drawers together then painted about half of the living room.
8) Watched Casualty.0 -
Definitely quiet on here.
Have been a bit quiet as I feel in the limbo of having a new job offered and had to tell my employer (for reference request), but can't give my notice until I receive the formal offer. Feels a bit weird, but I guess I just have to wait now. Hopefully will receive it this week.
Ought to distract myself with a bit of cleaning really :rotfl:
My pleasures are:
1. DD has been reading Jack Monroe's book and is now a fully fledged supersaver. We did a meal plan and she even came shopping, she was adamant we stuck to the list and I had to fight to get her to let me put a couple of extras in even though they were on offer. She is definitely a good saver
2. Spent £38 on the weekly shop although we already had a chicken, we also got 10kg of potatoes, a tray of eggs and enough garlic for the year!
3. Visited my new work colleagues - they are all great and my desk is fab.
4. Have stopped the weight gain and even lost a couple of pounds and am still about a stone lighter than last year
5. DD has started making soda bread and it's delicious, yum. Together with our home made soup recipes we will never be short of a meal. Looks like it's homemade chips with eggs tonight!
6. Reading all the interesting things everyone on here has been up to, really gives me a boost. Thank youOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Sunday evening and just getting dark , been a rather pleasant day after a massive downpour as I drove to work today. Big rainbow in the sky...always makes me smile.
Work was worky,
Went for late lunch / don't need a tea with OH when I got in. Good mooch through the papers and supplements.
Last night I went into the city for dinner with my work colleagues....we all scrub up well outside of work!
DD1 and I made truffles and lemon slice and little rocky roads .She licked the bowls!
She also ironed yesterday but we need to work on the putting it in neat piles and not just chucking it down...kind of defeats the purpose! But at least she's trying
First turnips picked from the veg patch.
Have a good one....hoping to stay away long enough , Sunday night TV is probably the best of the week.0 -
Ooh it is quiet - is everyone on their 'olidis?
Pleasures for Friday
1 a bit of time. A fairly leisurely morning of Internet browsing and paper reading, interspersed with a chore or two
2 a nice walk up to my friends for coffee.
3 more chores, listening to Mansfield Park on iplayer - clean and tidy kitchen, and a Victoria sandwich made, oh and 7 jars of marmalade (from a tin)
4 tacos for tea - messy but nice
5 DD went to school for revision and her teacher said her practice essay was Pretty well spot on
And yesterday
1 OH and DS went to the Isle of Wight for the day - a seriously long way from the midlands, but had a lovely day and all their journeys went well. DS did some revision on the train, which afforded OH some amusement as some of it was about cross breeding and a discussion on "zorses"
2 which meant I could have a holiday at home day - apart from cleaning the bathrooms and doing the ironing. :rotfl:
3 but I did have a bath and watched another episode of Hinterland, and then another doing the ironing
4 Radio 1 big weekend live stream for the rest of the time. Loved Jake Bugg, Bastille (reminding me of Glastonbury last year) and even one direction
5 taco left over for tea, in a wrap
6 COLDPLAY :T, from R1 live on the telly. Watched with a newly returned DS
Oh and this

I have spoken before of my love of local radio - and this is one example as to why :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Awol yesterday, had to leave at 6am (anyone who know me knows I don't do single figures in the mornings) and got home at 10.45pm. But it was well worth it, a fabulous day at Kings Lynn with many friends and new faces, will definitely be making it an annual 'pilgrimage'. Been invited to March in August - or is that August in March?! Enough silliness, am weary but just out to meet friends for shopping and lunch so back with my 5 later. Whenever did I have time to go to work?0
-
1) Not a bad sleep, despite Isis waking me up at five to four by standing beside the pillow and purring in my face.
2) Watched the Monaco grand prix, which I sometimes don't bother with as it tends to be a bit of a procession, and was glad I did as it was a good race for once.
3) Licks from a ball of fluff on a lead masquerading as a very small puppy.
4) Wrote 1200 words of essay - only another 800 to go and then I've finished with the course and, assuming I pass, my degree. :j
5) Spicy sausage casserole and garlic bread for dinner. :drool:Back after a very long break!0 -
Well, we is back and we missed all the traffic as well. And its YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW
5 BoPsie was up and out of her seta come Friday evening. Was she short changed, are we doing a runner. No, BoP's wobbleade was no priced correctly, so she grabbed the manager. She was steaming. All well in the end, boP had a guest ale and it was priced correctly. Hush returned. Anovver couple said they were in a Jam in Manchester for 7 hours! We weren't!!!
4 Talking of steaming, just done fantastic tea, Sea Bass in lemon, served on crushed spuds, mushy peas and salad. Washed down with home made parsley sauce and salad. Finished off with steamed Spotted !!!!!! and custard, lumpy.
3 Raffles was excited, nearly as much as BoPsie, when we returned and has adopted the sleep now mode, and purr just like Isis. he is much in your face cat at the moment.
2 Here is a picture of some nuts, look away now CCP!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Here are my pleasures. A couple aren't really moneysaving pleasures but I don't mind for this weekend. Plus I was treated lots
Yesterday
1 - A lazy morning with my OH. Never normally happens on a Saturday so very happy.
2 - Being indoors but listening to the rain crash down outside.
3 - The rain staying off while OH took me out to eat.
4 - Read the rest of the Mitch Albom novel. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be looking forward to the other one coming out on paperback.
5 - Being so stuffed from eating out that I didn't need to eat again (keeping fingers crossed for weigh in on Tuesday as I've not been very good).
Today
1 - Trip in to Oxford today. Such a nice place to just wander around!
2 - OH treating me to lunch. Biggest burritos ever, definitely would have been fine with a small one.
3 - Going to Christ Church, beautiful buildings and I could definitely see some sections from Harry Potter, either used or inspired.
4 - Watched the Monaco GP highlights. Same as you CCP I find Monaco isn't always the most entertaining race but it was a good one to watch this time. I'm also loving the inter team rivalry between Lewis and Nico.
5 - Finding out an old friend just got engaged. So happy for her.0
