Well done, KK and good luck for Thursday.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son not too late for school after refusing to get out of the car then walking off in the wrong direction "to find a bus home". (I think we have one bus a week!)
3) Popped in to Santander to find out whether I can overpay my mortgage (and by how much). The lady looked into it then said my interest rate was a bit high and I should phone their mortgage people and ask them to lower it (!) So I did and the saving is over £400 p.a.
4) Had a meeting at smaller son's new school to discuss his transition.
5) Had a bit of a tidy and the house looks better for it.
6) Made some soda bread (Girl Called Jack book) and had it with YS roast vegetables.
7) Watched Holby City and also enjoyed Mr Drew's School for Boys.0 -
Kk, well done from me too. Fingers crossed.
Five pleasures for Tuesday:
1. Continued with the great book rehousing and have added more to my charity shop pile.
2. Found DS1's passport and travel insurance docs deep in the bowels of what used to be my filing system and now resembles a paper recycling plant. He needs them for this weekend's competition abroad. So relieved!
3. Kind of a pleasure because he came back in a grumpy mood, but very pleased that DS2 has returned after a long weekend away. And he managed to appear at about the time he'd promised because he had to help load the car!
4. Snuggled under the duvet and dozed early afternoon.
5. Finished the audio book from yesterday and have moved on to Pullman's 'The Tin Princess', again read by Anton Lesser. So enjoyable.
Sweet dreams

Congrats on the interview Kittikins everything x'ed for you
1. Cancelled doglet's appt at the groomers, thought about it since I made the appt last week and decided that as they asked me to spell German Spitz I have no confidence in them. Saved me some £'s and DD has offered to groom him so I'll give her a fair price for doing him
2. Cleaned out the cleaning cupboard, it was organised chaos in there and still is but I know where everything is now (well, almost)
3. Planted out some dried peas which are sprouting, after a tip I read on the 2014 Frugal Living Challenge board. They grow into pea shoots which are good with salads, and are cut and come again
4. Had a grilled mackerel fillet (rtc 9p) with my salad for dinner
5. Made a spring clean rota which will be done before I go away. Haven't done one for years as I generally tend to keep on top of things but don't want to leave the house in a mess while I'm away - what if there's a fire?!
Sweet dreams0 -
Congratulations on the interview KK, everything crossed this end for you as well.0

Wednesday evening here and not long in from worky work! Stopped at chippy and have just had a chip butty for tea.
So this morning I did an online supermarket order for delivery tomorrow , they had sent me an email with 3 free deliveries. So online I have spent $100 less than I was last week!! Will see how we go but I will need to buy fruit and veg.
Work was workety , had the usual ' oh that's a fine Irish accent ' conversation several times.......no it's a Scottish one! Had a lovely chat with one of my Scottish customers. Then someone told me ' you have a lovely face' pardon? ' You have a lovely place, I like it here!' Ah well!
New staff are wanting more hours than are actually available so not sure if they'll stay!
Only 3 minutes to wait for the train on way home and plenty seats ! Last night it was standing room only and very crushed and not nice. Got off my carriage and DD2 got off the next carriage!
On walking home we saw that a new fruit and veg shop is opening 2 doors away from the current fruit and veg shop! We live in a tiny town so not sure that we need 2 however I hope that it means better deals for the customer:)..... And I do need to go buy my fruit and veg tomorrow!
The sun shone today, it was cold but crisp and bright and not damp and dismal. About to stick the heating on though!
Have a lovely day0 -
Kittikins - everything is crossed for you! x
Tried to post yesterday, but [STRIKE]we[/STRIKE] DH was in the process of switching us over to a new broadband provider and he kept on fiddling (even though it was an easy process ). Blame him, eh?
I'm going out tonight for a curry with a friend (banquet night!), so I won't be around later, but it's my PPA time now. I'm trying to gather inspiration for next week, haven't found any so I'm concentrating on work avoidance tactics.
So, my pleasures for the past couple of days:
1) My cold is very much, a cold. I blame the class. In their defence, they have been very kind to me.
2) Shopping in Mr T's last night. Grabbed a Mr T's own brand "wheat biscuits" in the breakfast cereal aisle and a lady asked me what they were like as the branded W**tabix are so expensive. Needless to say, this lady participated in the downshift challenge.Martin would be proud. :money:
3) DH announced that he's taking my half term/Whit week off work. We're planning a "staycation" and have plans to go walking on various days and using our Art Fund card for entry into various places. I quite fancy going to Lyme Park which was used as Pemberley in the BBC version of Pride & Prejudice. DH has seen through my need for Colin Firth to come striding out of the lake.
4) DH gave me a £2 coin for my collection! :j :j
5) Erm, erm, it's half way through the week. Thank goodness!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Went in early on morning back in August 1990. With Charlie, we knew something had happened, well it had been on the news the night before. And it was just pa week or so since we had got back. The crackle on the radio had changed from slant drilling to some invasion. We set off as normal for our field in the desert.
When we got there, no one was on gate. No guards as there had normally been. Just an Hawk. That should not had been there. Oh, and two Kuwaitis. Armed. They had wanted fuel to go back, where? We had none, but Charlie and me disarmed them. And then we got on. Oh, the rest of you were tucked in bed, by the time was over. And the British Embassy. Blissfully unaware. Just as blissful as they had been about the Falklands eight years earlier.
Why have I wrote this. Just found out that Charlie has passed away. Silly old booker he was, always jumpy, glasses everywhere. He died of dementia. Eating nothing for his last two months. He went peacefully in the end. God bless you Charlie.0 -
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) A great tit on the coconut feeder just outside my bedroom window, which saw me and decided it didn't care and was going to carry on eating.
2) Got a vet appointment for Isis, and the nice vet nurse reminded me why I like that practice so much: I told her what the problem was, and her response was "oh, poor little poppet!". :A
3) Another telephone counselling session, not much more useful than the last few, but the counsellor seems to have accepted that these sessions aren't helping and will be speaking to her supervisor about trying something else.
4) Heard the first swift of the year. No matter how down or anxious I'm feeling - and I've been feeling plenty of both recently - the summery sound of shrieking swifts always makes me smile.(Hmm - that's very alliterative, isn't it?)
5) Went to the pub quiz and found I was feeling slightly better than last week, as I was able to come up with some answers rather than just staring blankly at the page waiting for a team-mate to tell me what to write.
And for today:
1) Isis was very tolerant of being put in a box and taken to the vet - she wasn't a happy cat, but there was none of the blind panic of previous visits. I think she's finally realising that being put in a box doesn't mean she's being thrown out of her home again.
2) Did my usual dog magnet trick on a brown lab at the vet's: his enthusiastic leaping around seemed designed to prove his owner a liar when she said he was in pain! :rotfl:
3) Got into work late and managed to get the last parking space. :j
4) Purry-furry Isis when I got home. :happyhear
5) Still a few more chapters of the last GoT book to go this evening, before I have to find something else to read.Back after a very long break!0 -
RIP Charlie x
1. I didn't get the job, I was the runner up, but was let down so very nicely and have the other interview in the morning to look forward to! The Head wrote that I "have the makings of an excellent teacher"
2. The class were lovely, and it was as good a lesson as I could have done, so feeling pleased with myself.
3. Sunshine
4. YS strawberries
5. Looking forward to teaching my first lesson in my placement school tomorrow afternoon, just Art with the Reception lovelies, we're going to have a lovely time0 -
