Oh no BOP. Tuna and sweet corn!

My quick pleasures today included ....

Sardine sandwiches - I used sardines, white pepper, lemon juice and mayo - delish! Better than tuna sweet corn?

Plus I had my hair done and ....

    A back massage.

Two chocolate muffins (reduced in Mr T 50p for 4)

A Girl Called Jack turned up with several other items from the book club which are birthday gifts for others. All very nice and very reasonable. Very very pleased.

Onwards and upwards. Big grins from me - I have turned a corner - thank you for your help. :):rotfl:

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Busy day taking my class to the local museum so we can be involved in a town trail - art work put into the pavement forever and ever. They are suitably excited that they'll be able to return when they're REALLY old (21, apparently :D) and see their artwork.

Kittikins - fingers remain crossed for you, until I'm informed to uncross them. :)

    So, my pleasures:

    1) Cup cakes in the oven as we're having a non-uniform day tomorrow, helping me to boost my fundraising target. My class are in charge of selling cakes, whilst I'm on playground duty! :D

    2) Yellow sticker sweep in Mr T's! All now residing in the freezer for another night.

    3) Chicken stir fry for supper tonight. Yum. Used up various veggies in it too. ;)

    4) Washing in the machine. Not a pleasure, but at least the washing basket is slightly less full. :o

    5) Had a good old giggle with the lady in Mr T's who had to approve my purchase of vanilla extract because it contains ethanol. However, I was a little miffed when she happily confirmed that I was most definitely over 25. The cheek of the woman! :rotfl:

    Hope all went well, KK.

Pleasures for today! Was quite busy at times.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to the allotment. Pouring rain so stopped in the greenhouse most of the time. Planted 6 tomatoes and 3 cucumbers into grow bags and repotted pretty much everything else in there. Took spare plants so dad can have some.

    3) Popped down to Sainsburys for a cup of tea.

    4) Caf! ladies gave me the coffee grounds (or it is grinds? I don't drink coffee!) to go on the allotment to make compost/keep the slugs off.

    5) Went to the CAB to draft a letter to MrN about his fence (that he moved 40cm into my garden). Have put it in his post box but heard nothing. Perhaps he hasn't checked?

    6) Went round the charity shops nearest my car and found a remote controlled plane for sons for £1.99 (it's not much good but they played with it outside for a while).

    7) Text from smaller son's school to invite me to assembly tomorrow as he has got a certificate. Not sure what for. He doesn't go to assembly, says he won't go tomorrow and that I must not go either!

    8) Bigger son made cakes in DT so we ate those.

    9) Tasty tea of pasta salad and the rest of yesterday's shepherds pie.

    10) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    11) Mortgage paperwork came through (v quick) so I've signed it and sent it off and will have my new interest rate soon.

On the down side some of my colleagues have received letters saying their jobs have been rearranged and 27 of them will need to apply for the 14 new posts or go for voluntary severance. Not sure what the impact's going to be on a joint masters i've been working on or morale generally.

HUGS LFS, wish I could post some of the gorgeous photos I took of "my" class today, they could cure the rainy day glummies x

    1. Thank you everyone for your lovely support xxx

    2. Managed to avoid being out in the rain! Watched a little bit of "Meg and Mog" on DVD during 'indoor lunch play' :)

    3. I don't think I performed my best at my interview and lesson this morning.... I was extremely nervous, but I did show my behaviour management skills, as the class certainly weren't scared into submission by having a random teacher come in and waffle at them! I did run out of time though, and the interview itself was more formal and scripted. Anyway, I won't find out until tomorrow afternoon as they are splitting the interviews over 2 days, and am not holding my breath. It's all good experience anyway.

    4. Went to a training event organised by one of the teaching unions tonight and (a) it was really good (b) the buffet was scrummy, proving there can be such a thing as a free dinner :) (c) as soon as I walked in I saw the branch president, who just happens to be a governor at my last placement school. She's such a lovely lady, but I carefully managed to avoid being coerced into joining the committee, and signing up to going to the conference (although I've never been to Liverpool, so an all-expenses paid trip might be fun....!)

    5. I also got chatting to another woman who used to be (darn it!) deputy head at my favourite school, and also lives in the village where my new placement school is and is best friend's with DD's best friend's family! Talk about 6 degrees of separation......

    6. I taught the class for the first time today. It was supposed to be just the 7 Reception children, but plans changed, and so I volunteered to have have the lot of them all afternoon. We had a lot of fun, and learned a lot too (honest guv'nor!) :):) It ended up being an afternoon of art, PSHE, drama, playing and I also did a bit of visualisation/relaxation work with them when they got a wee bit over-excited. Bliss :)

    7. Looking forward to tomorrow.

    8. Looking forward to the weekend even more!

    9. Got home rather late due to all my chatting after the training, and DD was in bed....but she came downstairs to give me lots of hugs whilst complaining of an 'ailment'. (I think she heard my car pull on to the driveway :) ).

    10. Oooh, I've just remembered - one of the teachers at the interview school was total eye candy *swoon*

    4. Cuaght up with the washing
    5. DD has started some revision for her A levels in a months time :T
    6. Imagine Dragons are going to be at Glastonbury, although not keen on the announcement that Metallica are headlining on Saturday.
    7. Finally finished the ironing - took over 2 hours
    8. Watched "Prey" and "HInterland"

    Night night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Big (((hugs))) lfs
Kittikins sounds like you had a good day :)
DD relieved for you that your position is safe for the time being

    1. Although the journey to DM was a nightmare - took 3 hours driving in the 'fog' of lorries spray and there was a second when I said out loud 'I can't see!' - I arrived in one piece, much to my relief. Days and days of fine weather and I had to choose today to go. Nuts!
    2. DB had just arrived so we did DM's shopping then took her to lunch to a pub we used to go to when I was a teenager and sang there some evenings :o. They still have the old landlady's name above one of the doors, she was such a love and cared about everyone, as they did her :)
    3. Back to DM's where we all had a cuppa and a jam doughnut. You've never seen three adults get into such a sugary, jammy mess! We were laughing so much we were worse than children :D
    4. Made plans for DM's birthday in 3 weeks time
    5. A reasonable drive home, managed to get back in daylight
    6. A friend phoned this evening to ask me to to go to Hatfield House to see UB40 next month - she didn't have to ask twice, I've liked them since the 70's. And other than seeing the Stones in my teens it will be my first ever concert. You're never too old :D
    7. The same friend is going to help me with the spring clean and redecorating my bedroom. She's so kind :)

    Sweet dreams :)

CCP - I'd be grinning at heavy horses & Classic cars too, as well as checking my glasses prescription on the eyecandy. (There are times I miss having a sister nearby, sometimes part of the fun is debating whether or not the 'well worth looking at' tag is correct.) Isis asleep in sunlight - aww, as you say! Got to love a hungry great tit's priorities. Happy swifts - we love seeing them 'occupying' castles. Dog whisperer - choc labs are a bit uninhibited... Enjoy GoT!
supersaver - lay in the natty headgear? Sun & scalp are usually better separated. Glad the birthday fun went well & all the best with the interviews! Well done on frog & other healthy moves, and oooh I can almost smell the apple crumble... I've still not seen Calendar Girls - thank you for the reminder of the fun awaiting me! A good giggle is much underrated. That's what you do with sardines? Good - I have a few tins awaiting me & was eyeing them somewhat nervously. No longer!
sparrer - herbs are just fun. And deliciously simple! That millionaire's shortbread sounds wonderful! Hurrah your aspersions thriving - my seeds (went straight into the ground) are still in hiding. Superb haul at M!
DD - if you do get access to a TARDIS, can I come along? I'd love to meet (some of) my primary sources, and to be shown round Culpeper’s garden! Only 4/15 fudge - well done! Delighted to hear you are not on the hit list, and sympathies & pointers to MSE for the less fortunate. Surplus invigilators?! Enjoy the 4 hours! "Put it out regardless"? I'm still beaming at lovefullshelves' alternate use for a greenhouse for the same reason. Blasted IT! Glad you had mapleleaf biscuit awaiting the event & colleagues who added drink. There is life, and here's hoping the techies have the work stashed safe somewhere! Refilled tin - well done! Can't speak for what effect on joint masters, but can see a painful dip in morale on the horizon.
Frith - awed & impressed son can recognise wild garlic but vicariously So Proud sons can see a break in & respond intelligently. Virtual millionaires’ shortbread to all! Sainburys at 59p wonders! Are you released from the gruesome diagnostic diet? Never occurred to me to try tucking child in with iPod & cat. Blimey well done with Santander! Breakfast in bed, happy SATs & working with CAB on MrN? Awe & respect! Rain is the allotment way of reminding you to repot things & fill the water butt. I'm told coffeegrounds are great against slugs but lack such a friendly cafe to test! All the best with the assembly whatever you do.
Kittikins - pace yourself!? Feeling sunkissed? Excellent! Congratulations on the agility! Hope "first proper day" at new school goes well. They are expecting you to disappear off to interviews? Sunshine, cake & chocolate - wonderful! Glad to hear that despite not giving you the job they had the grace & courtesy to reassure you. Art with Reception? Whatever you wear, may it wash well! You may be surprised by the interview, either way you've learned. Your afternoon class sounds very full of beans so hurrah for a bit of relaxation work to steady them down a little!
mhagster - "ate chocolate and cuddled my children" is amongst the best responses. Masterchef pure pleasure or also to get ideas for work? "cold and pouring with rain" - yes, like Lancashire in Sping! Internet shopping? Hoping it works well for you! Esh - waiting on deliveries, but hoping new f&v shop evens things a bit. (Take a child to help carry?!) Unexpected canine visitors clearly love the smells from your house!
BoP - sounds a *wonderful* weekend - let DD enjoy her Tunnock in peace! Was the 'misparked' car an Audi? RIP Charlie. Sorry to hear free lunch largely a washout, Again.
Purple kitten - puppies are antidepressants on paws. Hoping d is better & that you've recovered a bit. Superb shop! My cooking goes in phases, & the level of the baked bean tin stash indicates how well. A "car kit" - things for, not build-your-own? Chocolate hedgehog cake sounds fun even if bought in. Might
http://www.international-hoya.org/propogation.asp help with hoya & yes, of course talk to them!
Broomstick - what a smashing tub! I do love Morris dancers - I used to try to count them on May Morning but they moved from bar to bar making the count more of a challenge... Putting books on shelves - is there any happier way of saying this is our space? You had a system & despite age it produced a passport *and* current insurance?! Wonderful! Audiobooks wonderful - a good read whilst industriously doing other things. Do you need to move doctors & dentists? Enjoy the mystery garden! Well done on washing up, DS2!
VickyA - fight off the sniffles! Blinking Interent & spouses. Hope the curry helps fight off the cold. Enjoy Lyme Park even if there is a sad lack of Firth. Really old over 21, eh? Bless 'em. Hope they sell your hard work with equal vim & raise lots of money!
sparrer - hauling pots around? I'm sure it looks wonderful. Croatia?! I've heard delighted amazing things - hope you have a wonderful time! If dog groomers don't know their breeds, money better spent with DD, with whom doglet already has a rapport. Must try the "let's holiday in Croatia!" as a motivation for cleaning, tidying & sorting on the lads, (when I can afford it). Enjoy the "sugary, jammy mess", and UB40!
VJsmum - Last Plays are a bit several-hanky jobs, but the young have to grow. Washing dried & ironed? Yon Cumberlad has a lot to answer for. Mnn, just-cut grass - smashing smell! Blokes & stocked up stuff... Revision started? Phew. Metallica can't make *that* big a difference to Glasto, surely, as so many tickets have already sold? What do you reckon to Prey?!
lovefullshelves - eggs & mince sound good, reminiscences from tractor appreciation folks sound even better - hoping they had new & joyful tales of Dad for you? Go cuddle that puppy some more?

    OS Pleasures recently
The amount of Fargo I don't understand runs to 4 episodes so far, but "I am that consequence" is a corking line!

"Frank, John, Barry, Simon & Samantha (after the op)" - the newly painted Saxon warriors are introduced to me... I would worry, but they're well painted & his eyes (& cheeks) are bright with suppressed laughter.

    "An American said thank you!"
    "Well, it is Minnesota."
"Almost Canada, yeah." - this Fargo series is triggering all sorts of cheerful opinions in our house.

"Spread, you !" In the early morning battle of boy vs. toast, the butter is winning....

"I got these trousers from J's room" - ah, the row over whose trousers are where continues. They do have wardrobes etc, but their sorting skills are questionable.

Watching prawn crackers explode from little panes of honesty into thick ruffled white blooms as they cook.

Eyeing areas where I know I've tucked nasturtium seeds, hugging myself in anticipation & eager to see leaves, buds, colour.

The croon of a pigeon, amplified by the railway arch.

The cheerful grin & wave from the bloke who runs a garage & had been hoovering out a car. I'm not usually cheery over that job but all grins returned in full in the morning sunlight!

Made a colleague laugh when I described kale as bring "like frilly cabbage only tasting worse". Both of us have iron count issues.

The bloke minding my lad most of Work Experience not only helped diagnose the brake light glitch but would have given me his spare bulb had it fitted. It wouldn't so he steered me exactly to a car bits place that doesn't charge girlie tax & now I'm road legal & with a spare!

Pondering fashion, hemlines & the back of the knee. Whilst grinning at my preference for what is almost a burka but in shirt & trous form.

One job sorted, but had to descend *scary* spiral staircase - it wobbled with each step!

Another night with scouts - some if them are taller than I am! It's the shortest that awe me - so much potential, glee, character in small packages. I'm beginning to understand why so many leaders are retired or near it & still scout - a night with the young is like a dip in the fountain of youth!

More of the intermittent Yellow Stuff! With enough showers to remind you, Lancashire...

Great big hugs to all who need them, hurrah all things growing and changing & only two full weeks before another short week!

  • Let’s get ready to Chattels

The suvvan winders this morn seems to be covered in rain. Just a reminder, yellow thing is booked for 17th May. Got it? Brake lights fixed and fog of lorry wash. Ironing done and cupbored stacked. Nerves, yous need steel. Jenny gives a buzz :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls There, she’s no done that for a while. Seats shuffle. Severance pain. Greenhouse in the rain. Oi, LFS. Yous no aloud to say that. Think Yellow and read again. Mr T. Jobsworth! Voucher still at less than £2 this year. They sent a book through, but I have to spend £30 to use them. They are in the cat basket And LFS. Top Gal. Sardines. With Tom and Peppers, bit of lemon. And leave them bones in and boy oh boy. More Claw. Top Gal. Eradicate the world of Tuna Sweetcorn sandwiches.

    Bee Sting

5 Any old irony. Another excuse warrior was on the radio this morning. Never came up with an answer, but had lots of problems she could not solve. We had a problem on our yard the other week. Local people ignorant society, funded by the bankrupt Co-Op, came along to count if our Raffles had left any newts. All parked inconsiderately, and one was politely asked to move their vehicle. On condition that is he did not, it would be towed. You see, we has a tow truck driver round our back! They moved it. As for the excuse warrior, I ran the lights! Come and get me!

4 When they do come back, and charge muppets another fee to have a peep at the Newts, or what we call our unattended un landscaped exclusion area, any left by Raffles, now seven destroyed for the loss of a bit of fluff, any left will surely be a miscount. Or should I actually charge them for disturbing our raffles foraging grounds. Hmmm!

3 Trophy, well the Image of the Year cup safely planted on the mantelpiece last evening. Gathered, as your BoP is not one to keep his mouth closed, as expected and now the sun is glinting off it. Dazzling BoPsie’s eyes. She has already polished it. Now I could get our Raffles a trophy as well. King Newt Catcher! He knows where they lie!

2 Effix, Effix, and no I am not going to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on today. I can say, my snorkers and bacon should be alright. On that and effix. We had the local gendarmerie at the Salt Mine this morning. In ancient times, there appeared to have been a ritual slaughter taken place. A body has been found, with what looks like a ceremonial necklace around their body. Rumours abound that there is an inscription, in some stamped writing. ‘Employee Hide and Seek Champion, 1972’ The bizzies are saying no one else is involved. Oh, and have yous lot checked that it is actually PORAGE yet as well.

1 All you have to do is walk through it.
