Hiya. Me again - sorry it's been so long but things have been terribly busy.
I wanted to post last night but decided I was just too flipping tired.
Bunch of pleasures:
1. It dragged out beyond the end of the month (had hoped to have handed the keys to ex-LL at the end of April) but we finished the last little bits of cleaning in the old house yesterday and handed over mid-afternoon. We've left the old place looking as good as when we moved in ~5 yrs ago, if not better, and I think it will take very little work for LL to put it on the market immediately. I feel really strongly about leaving things in good shape as a thank you to a place that has kept us safe. I always go round the rooms at the end thanking them and leaving good wishes for the next occupants. Am I off my rocker? :rotfl:
2. Ex-LL has now released the deposit so I've got things moving to have that paid back asap.
3. I discovered that our new cottage was built at the end of the 1700s. :T
4. We've only had about half a dozen major melt-downs which is amazing given that the three of us have moved a three-bed house into a three-bed house several miles away, bit by bit over the space of 22 days, using only our vehicles (didn't have to move a washing machine thank goodness and only have arm chairs no sofas!) so we saved money on removals. :T And we cleaned and redecorated the old house in that time as well. And we have resumed work full time after the Easter holidays. And the DSs have managed to see their g/fs just about enough. And my health has held out.
5. We've visited my parents several times - they have been hugely supportive and I feel terribly grateful that they are both still around and care.
More later but right now the sun is shining. I'm intending to spend today unpacking books with the windows open and the radio on. DSs are going to start tackling the little outbuilding that has turned into a dump for things that don't yet have a home and needs to become a workshop/organised store.
Hope there's lots of sunshine where you are.

broomstick that all sounds very positive....I've always left a tidy house...we have not always moved into one! Be happy in your new home
Well it's Saturday evening here, the heating is on and washing, washing everywhere. It is dark, damp and cold outside.
My lovely husband brought me a hot water bottle last night as I lay shivering in our freezing bed.....only because the night before when I lay snoring ( allegedly) on the sofa he said he'd put a HWB in bed for me, so off I went. He had NOT!!
Up at silly o'clock this morning phoned mum and had a good long chat with her. 6 radiotherapy zaps to go, she's getting there! Quick chat with friend from home before she went to bed.
We dropped DD2 at work then went for brunch and a right good mooch through the papers and supplements.
Then home, washing, washing and a bit of ironing whilst watching a vintage casualty....no new ones on utube at the moment.
OH picked some veggies, cut the fast growing grass (rain!) and put down some weed killer.
Then we took DD2 and her wage filled purse to next town for shopping. I got some photos developed and she got 2 pairs of trousers. One was jeans on a table marked at $20 on sign but $49.95 on label. We asked if these were $20 , yes they were. They then went through the till at $29.95. We said they were on the $20 table and endured a bit of a grumble from sales assistant but we got them for $20 !
I got a new pair of ankle boots, so far so good. Actually comfy, actually wide enough for my feet and most importantly my orthotics fit perfectly inside. We've just been a walk and my husband remarked I wasn't limping!
The tiniest sliver of moon was in the sky but blooming chilly!
Bought a cyclamen plant in aldi, had one last year and it lasted and flowered for months. They are at least 3 times as expensive in the florists.
Think that's my pleasures. Back to work tomorrow! New girl in the kitchen so I'm there in a supervisory capacity with my new boots! Another new girl out the front of cafe so hoping for an easy-ish shift....I may have to eat my words though!!
Have a lovely start to your loooong weekend!
kittikinsit's good to hear there are jobs out there...good luck with your applications and may you be in a position to choose the one you want !0 -
Arrived in Bamber Bridge for NPL play off final.
Aye it int alf cold up north0 -
Hello all
The assignment upload site has gone down, so I can't retrieve my marking - result!! I also seem to be working my way down a tub of ice cream - I am blaming DundeeDoll
Welcome back and welcome home Broomstick
I seem to have lost the power of the smilies.
Pleasures for Thursday
1. A meeting at my old campus. Really productive meeting with a nice colleague from the law school about possible collaborations, and it was nice to be there. And other colleague bought the coffees.
2. Visited our old administrator, who we still miss and who misses us. Had a laugh and a catch up.
3. Popped into town to get DS his bigger sized overalls and steel toed boots. He and OH are "training" in Wales this weekend (staying at the usual place, Frith ;-) ) The pleasure is that whilst there, I made the most of visiting the market just as they were flogging stuff off cheap
4. which meant I got a load of strawberries and raspberries. Yum
5. Cleaner came - we really needed her this time.
And yesterday
1. Had a baking session - made jam (strawberry and raspberry), banana bread (also going cheap) and chicken and vegetable soup,
2. Lunch with friend and a good catch up
3. Packed the caravan for OH - he's done loads for me lately so I didn't mind doing that. He totally underestimated how long the "first pack of the season" takes as bedding etc needs sorting.
4. DD was performing in town so I had the evening to myself, hence the baking session. Caught up with the Archers. I think Tony new voice is more like Tony New personality.
5. A full night's sleep, uninterrupted by snoring or alarms. Starting to feel a little more human.
Right, ice cream has gone 8-0, so I'd best get ready to go and watch DD's final performance before drama school.
Edit - the smilies are making a partial liar out of me, but I can't click on them so I don't know how they are working.
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Yay, glad the move has gone well Broomstick, I was about to send out search parties for you, very pleased you're finally moved in and happy, most importantly! x
1. NSD
2. Sunshine!
3. Got rid of a load of tat paperwork I won't need to look at again (from first placement school)
4. Have an idea for my interview lesson - paper airplanes to show instruction writingDD wants me to plan it and then she'll do it, evaluate my teaching and give me an interview! She's a hard task master....
5. Have planned my first lesson, it took a while, and was only for the 7 youngest children, doing maths. Wonder how long it'll take when I'm planning for all 3 year groups?! eeek.....will cross that bridge when I come to it.
6. Now planning an art lesson, woohoo! Anyone want to design their own trophy?I think we should have MSE Awards, lol.
7. Looking forward to movie night with DD on our own as the 'rents are going out.
8. Have had a lovely cheery email from the teacher at the girls' school I went to before starting my teacher training. She's sent me some useful hints and tips on how to apply for the boys' school job.0 -
Broomstick - glad you're all in and the move went as well as could be expected.
I've had another 'anxious' day today - I swear these counselling sessions are making things worse instead of better- but I must be able to find some pleasures:
1) An email from Tr1padv1sor telling me that one of my photos has been selected as the 'official' image for a particular place on all their websites. I suspect it's because it's the only image they've got, but it's still nice!
2) Final OU tutorial was quite comforting, as a) hardly anyone else in the group has started their research projects either, and b) when I came up with an idea for mine, pretty much off the top of my head, my tutor looked very impressed and said it would make a fine project.
3) Found a cake stall in Southampton city centre selling London cheesecakes, a home counties speciality I've never seen on the south coast before. :j
4) Found £2.50 in the back of the taxi I got home from the station - I asked the driver if he wanted it but he just laughed, so I put it in my purse.
5) I've still got the last GoT novel to go, which I've just started and will be reading more of this evening - goodness knows what I'll do when I finish this one and have to find something else to read!
That's not bad, is it?Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Lovely, lovely day spent with friends and their gorgeous daughters at Jimmy's Farm. They have a farmers' market there on the first Saturday of the month, so we got a few cakes.
So, my pleasures for today:
1) Time with friends. Always good, especially as we don't see them that often.
2) Charity bag through the door. This one is for the British Heart Foundation, which accepts bric a brac as well as clothes. I've already got a few bits lined up (all in ok condition).
3) Printed off a couple of free walking routes I'd discovered a while ago. We're visiting one of the areas soon, so got to go armed.
4) Put myself forward to help the old girls' association of where I went to school. They've asked me to be a decade representative for my decade. For some reason, they think I left in the 1990s... SURELY it was the 2010s???? No??? :rotfl:  I left 19 years ago. This confuses me as I definitely don't feel *that* old.
5) Need to put in a L*keland order. I love that company.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Now snoggled up with BoPsie at the Shap Wells Inn. Woobleade is pored.
Happy days0 -
VJSmum the van is on our drive this weekend as well, it’s a shame but DH has volunteered us on a hospice walk this weekend and I couldn’t face re packing it all having only just got back from Wales.
For Fri.
1. Worked from home which was lovely to be able to use the commute to err not.
2. It’s our 9 year wedding anniversary today, I still feel very blessed.:D
3. Went for a Dr’s check up after they called me yesterday and it’s not so grand but I can now get strong painkillers, and they are sorting an mri.
4. Planted up a whole load bit flower pots they sit half and half over the mini fence, while DH took apart the 3 ft high pots that have fallen apart but we still have to bag them up for the tip which is an hours work in it’s own right.
5. We popped out to an all you can eat Chinese place tonight to relax and celebrate 9 years, grin it’s not quite the Canadian Rockies honeymoon suite.:rotfl:
6. Made 8 hm burgers up to freeze, I like gathering the hg herbs and chopping them all up for the burgers I can’t deny:p
For Sat
1. Surprised how long it took to set up the sponsored walk but it also worth it with the fields of blue bells
2. We got the afternoon to ourselves and I am getting the mickey taken out of me mercilessly for going to a flower nursery on a bank holiday.:rotfl:
3. Topped and tailed the upstairs and clean bedding.:)
4. I am absolutely shattered and we have to be up at stupid o clock tomorrow for the walk, sure it will be ok when doing it but I’m not so keen on the getting up bit to be honest.
5. Forgot we also popped to out to shops this afternoon and picked up bits from the 99p shop mainly and the fruit and veg stall, no wonder I’m shattered.:)0
