    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons to school in good time.

    3) Bigger son got to do free running in PE - his favourite.

    4) Went to town for a cup of tea with an old college friend (actually, she went to school with me too!)

    5) Did the charity shops and got a White Stuff dress, Monsoon skirt and a T shirt for one or other son.

    6) Gammon for tea.

    7) Played football with sons and MrN's son5.

    8) Phone call from the autism lady at smaller son's high school (where he'll be going in September). I have to go next week to discuss his transition which apparently starts with the 2 of us having lunch there together. It seems the ex MrFrith has sent her a weird solicitor's letter saying he wants to be present at everything, always. She asked if I wanted separate meeting - yes, please. :-/

    9) Phone call with other school friend.
  • Gah new forum layout! Gah! Gah!

BoP goodness we agree on something! Tuna (tinned, not fresh) is bleugh and sweetcorn - I don't get it, just a lot of sweet, chewy shells. Perhaps it's just meant to be a plate filler, like peas?
SS congrats on 11 nsd's. And a tray of eggs for £3, a bargain!
Frith we never have White Stuff or Monsoon in the local cs, it's all Damart and Berketex which shows the average age of the local residents. Well done on your finds :)
lfs thanks for the heads up, I'll google Rose Elliot. Have fun with the tractor enthusiasts, sounds like an interesting day. I don't have a change of layout, could it be your settings?

    1. Lovely yellow thing this morning, showed itself off and on all day. And much warmer today so I turned the heating off (which was a bit of a shock when I got out of the shower this evening as I'd forgotten to turn it on for an hour!)
    2. Got rtc mackerel fillet, milk and prepared exotic fruits in Mr M this evening
    3. Was able to help DD out with a boiler repair - why are they so expensive?! Thankful that I can do things like this today, due in part to :money:
    4. Booked muttley and myself in for a trim and blow dry next week. A pity the college doesn't do dog grooming ;)
    5. End of the month and very happy with the way finances have gone - or rather stayed - for April. Didn't spend on anything unnecessary, stayed away from the bay of e, and wasn't tempted by any 'special offer', 'save' or 'sale' notices. Amazed it lasted a whole month! I wonder what May will bring...

    Sweet dreams :)

Gosh, where is everyone? Only Ampersand away, I thought? (And Chicken :( - I did PM but no response).

Back in Blighty and feeling slightly more human today - still a little sleep to catch up on however.

Kittikins - a tough school will be great experience though won't it? My son had a teacher who couldn't even cope in a tiny village school, he was soon gone by a mixture of parent power and headteacher influence. We had to write to the board of governors threatening to pull J out if the teacher remained  which we would have had to do as he was going backwards. If you can deal with that school, you can do anything.
PK - so glad you had a good break. Our caravan is sat on the drive as OH and DS are going "train"ing for the weekend.
Sparrer and Frith, Jealous of your charity shop finds. Mind, I got a Monsoon dress from the bay of E last week. It was 15 quid and is fab. I am slowly changing my style.
SS - 2 bowls of ice cream <<jealous>>
BoP - I quite like tuna and sweetcorn, so Ner :p though I prefer it without the sweetcorn.
LFS - well done on your live below the line. I just can't do it.

    Pleasures for yesterday
    1. Delayed baggage at Birmingham Airport meant none of us got home till nearly midnight, but I slept through till 6.30. without drugs ;)
    2. Was vertical all day - but only just. People were remarking how fresh I looked - I think it was a mixture of make up, well chosen clothes, coffee, adrenalin and bravado. It was fine being at work, better than dripping round at home.
    3. One good applicant on applicant day, who I think will join us, and one with the mother from hell. Wouldn't let the poor boy speak. I am glad I'm not like that.
    4. Roast chicken for dinner - needed proper food.
    5. Catching - but not caught - up with the archers.

    Have a good day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Let’s get ready to Thimble

Along with the rising tide, comes the ebb. Well, I sees Tuna Sweetcorn sandwiches has torn this parish in two. Just like marmite. Me, the furred ends of the offering has just been binned. There were no takers at the salt mine. Ayes, Sparra, you nose meant to agrees with BoP, just read, swat. Think. Come back and then think, blah! Free running, is that like attachment parenting! SS, yous right. Tuna is for people who know nothing about taste. Don’ts be a frayed, is a normal reaction to reading BoP words Our T vouchers have turned up. BoPsie has £3 voucher. Problem is we have to spend £20. Nope, failed. KK Tuff skool. No you do not want that. Whens BoP was at College, there was trainee lass, with the remnants. She tried to teach them, but was it worth it. We suggested she just get the DHSS form and show them how to fill it! She did one term.

Word inn from BoPsie. She reckons we could have a food fight. Dear, the sarnies are curled, they could kill if they hit.

Rite, now ruffling me fur and getting some claw sandwiches downed.

5 Well boo gar me. Woke this morning and thought yet agin how much it is to see the booming cat struck at the bottom of the bed, and in one twist, he was scuppered over. Took him nearly ten minutes to wake up. Raffles is becoming lazy. Still, he supervises the bath, ensuring that the water does go down the plug hole.

4 PM 4 DD UTM Wobbleades are inn. (Cambridge lost, he he he he he he he he he he!)

3 Now I am looooosing it, big time. In the last three weeks, the ex Ms BoPsie has won 6 games of Scrabble to my 2. I think she is reading the scrabble book in bed. She even started with a sevn letterer last eve. Think we could be in line for a check on the rules, and they are kept under the bored.

2 It is twenty years since Ayrton Senna crashed his motor at Imola.

1 The one who cleaned the pad may have some answers!

    Hello

    Been MIA sorry

Kittikins - Very belated birthday wishes, my niece always used to say it was like having two birthdays as I was always late posting cards and presents :o
Ampersand - Hope you have having a wonderful time
VJsmum - Your trip sounded amazing, well done on staying upright I don't deal with jetlag very well
Sparrer - Where would we be without our DM's helping us out when things get tough
LFS - You are welcome, your blog makes me smile on a daily basis so definitely worth the money
McCulloch - My aunt lives just off Stephenson Way. I haven't seen the improvements to the town centre yet but will try next time I'm there. I used to live in Coatham Munderville for a while in my early 20's so used to walk into either N.A or Darlington if the weather was nice.

Pleasures for the last couple of days,
    1. Great birthday with lots of lovely presents, cards and messages
    2. Still no news at work so while would like to know what is going on at least still getting paid
    3. Banked the money tin I have in the kitchen. I put any grocery underspend I have in it. I was very impressed with £390 :money:
    4. Trifle, I love trifle so I made one to take to work. Didn't have any sherry though so soaked the sponge in Amaretto. Very yummy, only problem was I had to share.
    5. Getting back on top of the washing basket as the sun has been shining

Hugs to all who need them

    Yesterday and today....

    1. Got "excellent" for my uni maths assessments :)

    2. Had a lovely chat with the course lead (who marked my maths) and she has put my mind more at ease about the new school. She worked in a tiny school for years and said that in her opinion, behaviour won't be a problem, it's just that as the school is so small, every little thing will appear 'huge' to observers, but completely normal to teachers. Phew!

    3. Bluebells by the side of the road.

    4. I've visited 2 schools today - one I really liked, the other was okay...will apply to both though!

    5. Bought more cheapy bits for the flat. Must chase the solicitor to find out what the heck's going on!!

    6. I've been invited to join my new school for assembly tomorrow before having the chat about what's what for the placement :)

    7. Managed to find DD some new leggings, so she will no longer be wandering around looking like Nora Batty!!

    8. I'm home early enough to pick DD up from school :)

    Evening all.

Apologies for the lack of posts recently - my anxiety has been back with a vengeance and, while I've been enjoying everyone else's pleasures as much as ever, I've been struggling to think of many of my own. :(

I feel better when I do post, though, so:

    1) Quiet at work again so I finished the last piece of reading for my OU course, an academic essay which quoted a Terry Pratchett novel. :D

    2) This video - so silly it made me LOL in the office. :o

    3) Despite all my worries to the contrary, Isis seems to have forgiven me for putting anti-flea drops on her yesterday. My scratches will heal in time, too! :rotfl:

    4) Saw a song thrush in the office car park, the first I've seen in ages.

    5) Strictly speaking one from yesterday, but still good: I wrote a review online of the hotel I stayed in last week, where I commented that, at full price (not that I paid full price, of course :money:), it's very expensive for what you get. The hotel manager has replied publicly, noting that you get a better experience if you pay them even more money - missing the point a touch, I feel! :rotfl:

Kittikins - a very belated happy birthday from me, too!

BoP - I'll happily eat any tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches you don't want - they're one of my favourites. Tuna and sweetcorn on a jacket potato is even better.

VJsmum - ah, helicopter parents, don't you love them? :undecided I was dealing with an applicant for an MSc course a while ago who insisted on his mother dealing with everything, which doesn't bode well for his studies!

sparrer - while up in London I had mackerel with a new potato and samphire salad - so good!

PK - glad you had such a nice time in Wales.
Back after a very long break!
  • DD Gary Mills Gateshead. You will miss the Theatre of Fish next year!
    Extended PM to DD

    Boo Gar

I agree, no matter how down I feel it does me good to count my blessings.

    1. Slept through the alarm this morning :rotfl: oh dear, oh well. Can you sense I am disconnecting ;)
    2. Through changing my job (awful decision) I have made a new friendship (win some lose some I guess - although cr@@pee job is a very big lose some).
    3. Have also made some new contacts and am stretching myself
    4. love my DD and she loves me (and she tells me):lovethoug:happyhear
    5. Subtracted the direct debit payments from my total. Also just did a PAD of £1
    6. Gas bill quite low so will finish off paying by 1st Jan and will then be able to swap

Think I'd better lose as I'm drooping and in danger of zzzzzzzz
